Negative experience: I had a membership for 3 years at this gym, and all I can say is the men there are so bad they had to create a female-only section, and men will STILL go in there and stare at you or come up to you. I was followed out to my car multiple times, and on top of that, they are scamming people all the time. All they care about is money; they genuinely couldn't care less about you or your experience at their gym. You better make SURE you read that fine print in your contract before they start asking for $300 to CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP!!! The gym isn't clean, and the machines are old. Honestly, from someone who went daily for 3 years and loved this gym when I first started going, this is the last gym in Perth I would recommend.

At Genesis Fitness, our vision is to create a healthy community where every member feels supported and that is why we introduced a female-only section. It was not introduced as a reflection on male members in the club but rather a step taken in response to feedback from our members who felt more comfortable having a dedicated space.
If any members are entering that space inappropriately or making others feel uncomfortable, we take those matters seriously and encourage immediate reporting so we can act swiftly.
Regarding your membership, after 3 years most members are no longer in contract and should be able to cancel with 30 days notice. A cancellation fee would only apply in specific cases - such as if there was an upgrade to a different membership, an extended suspension or a cancellation followed by rejoining on a new agreement. We would be more than happy to look into your account and clarify this for you.
We are also sorry to hear your concerns about cleanliness and equipment. We conduct daily cleaning in the club and have a weekly maintenance team in club as well as quarterly maintenance inspection on our equipment but we always welcome constructive feedback to help us improve.

Negative experience: Very bad experience! Please don’t join this gym as they reap off people . They encourage you to join premium membership and then as i had relocate and cancel it they charged me over 350$ and plus they intentionally delayed the process so that they could charge more as so called fines. Just in fines i paid over 100$ . Worst gym ever this is only to earn money and reap people of . Very bad and cunning nature business.

When you first contacted us regarding your relocation and cancellation request, we promptly actioned it in accordance with your membership agreement. As your membership is still within the contracted term, a cancellation fee of $289.50 ($150+30 days notice) was applied, which was clearly outlined at time of joining.
The initial attempt unfortunately failed, which triggered a $14.95 penalty fee from the third-party direct debit provider - not from the gym itself. To support you during the process, we offered to split the cancellation fee into 4 smaller payments and sent you the payment schedule via email which you attached in your review.
Unfortunately the payment attempts were unsuccessful which led to further penalty fees being applied by the debit provider.
We are always here to support our members and believe we acted fairly and transparently throughout your cancellation process. If you would like to discuss this further we would be happy to talk - please feel free to contact us directly.

Negative experience: I went in with a groupon voucher and I was lied to that I needed an acess key. They didnt even ask for the voicher as the “salesman” was trying so hard to sign me up even after I told him that i wanted to use my voucher to get a feel of the gym. I have now been told that I have to wait for days to get my refund. I will come back and edit once I have received it. Wouldn't recommend this gym Edit: it has been 3 days waiting for my refund and I have been informed that they are waiting for head office to approve it.

Fantastic experience: A regular here for a while now. Initally joined for unlimited reformer pilates but also enjoying the Coaching Zone and Body combat classes. Everyone is friendly and supportive with good vibes. Often has fitness challenges with rewards for completion. A gym that has everything for a good price!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member and training here for quite sometime now. I tried coaching zone before which was great and now, I do reformer pilates and I couldn't be more happier with the progress and how stronger I have become. The instructors are very friendly, helpful and very considerate of your needs and adjust the trainings to suit you if you have any injury or pain. I would highly recommend this place and you only have to start and then there's no going back!

Fantastic experience: I am absolutely loving this gym, I find it incredibly spacious - staff are wonderfully friendly and supportive. I am really enjoying the sectioned off space, dedicated just for women, I do wish there was more equipment for the busier hours of the day - but regardless, my experience has been the best out of any gym I have been apart of. Never have I ever thought I'd consider going twice a day for a workout, but here I feel safe, motivated and encouraged. I can already feel a difference in fitness, and my mental health. I really hope this experience continues to be rewarding!

Negative experience: *** do not join*****Worst gym ever, unfortunately I cannot give a zero. the membership consultants doesn't know how to speak with customers, rudest people ever. What happened to listen to what the customer is saying? The billing is always an issue, a direct debit should debit the account 7 days from the day it debited last time. If spoken about it all they say is it's your duty to keep funds in your account and just charge double the amount for missing a payment which would happen alot as they keep debiting the account random dates. Is this involving financial crime. I think it is. If you need to speak with a manager then you are given an email which no one responds to, if you ask about it then straight rude reply they are busy, you cannot speak with them. Make an appointment. It's a money making machine with no customer service. This is going to be reported to ombudsment for a number of reasons.
Negative experience: I regret ever signing up with Genesis Bentley. They pressured me into agreeing to a 7-day cooling-off period, assuring me I could cancel with just a phone call. I submitted my cancellation request within 5 days, but here I am still waiting for any sort of confirmation. After reading their awful reviews and learning about their shady reputation as a finance-focused gym, it’s clear my experience is not unique. The final straw was the rude and dismissive receptionist I had to deal with—a man with a French accent—who made me feel like my concerns didn’t matter at all and ended up yelling at me at the recepcion. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can’t imagine the service gets better. Avoid this place if you value honesty, professionalism, or good customer service.
Negative experience: As a concerned member of the health and fitness of Bentley Community. This is an URGENT call for action. We need this business removed from our community. If you cannot provide the health and fittness services that the Bentley community requires and you have replaced your management with an incompetent person named Dionne Lim who is profit driven and unconcerned about the health of our community like Vicky( the previous competent manager was ), then we the Bentley community citizens will take action to get you out. This is a promise. We require that you take your business elsewhere and do it quickly. 2025 is not a year for tolerating extortion and greed we are health focused and want the best for Bentley community. Anyone who thinks they can swop in to make profits and not provide us with what we want should think again. 2025 is a healthier Bentley community , but on our terms. I have asked for the directors contact details and I was given the run around. I would ask that someone higher up in this organisation reaches out to me to discuss how we can best serve our Bentley community. Starting with getting Dionne Lim out. I don't think she represents the best interest of our Bentley community and I have proof from many members. Negative experience: They are so unprofessional. Every-time I called to sort out payments, they kept saying they would sort it out but then the fee would keep going up. Would not recommend this gym what so ever.
Negative experience: The worst place ever All they aim for is to get you registered Short in staff and poor organisation like one book you for consultation and the other calls and say she’s not available and it kept on going till I had to cancel membership with out using it really and I even went to them asking why they do this and that I’m not happy but they didn’t care
Negative experience: Echoing what other people have said, this isn’t really a gym. It’s more of a group of salesman in a warehouse with some workout equipment. They knowingly sign people up for long ,expensive contracts making them seem like free trials or a demo month. Because of the gyms proximity to Curtin university they mainly prey on people who do not have English as a first language and are easily manipulated. Once people realise what they’ve been signed up for the staff begin being vaguely threatening mentioning debt collectors and legal action. You are endlessly hounded by phone calls and texts trying to get you to sign up your friends and offering “exclusive one time discounts” that somehow happen every few weeks. The gym staff are all just salesman who work on commission so are willing to do anything to get your signature . Literal parasites. The price isn’t even that good and I would recommend looking at other gyms in Cannington and Bentley that are not as sales focused and money hungry as these people. They openly use sales tactics to make people think they are getting a good deal and pressure into ,iron clad ,binding contracts as they know that once the person finds out they can just bully them into paying.

I subscribed the membership for a year but due to some health reason I couldn’t go there after 2/3 months of joining the membership.i tried to Cancel the membership but they said I had to pay for the whole year of membership I signed the contract for so just had to wait until then but on the app of genesis there is a option to suspend the membership but then there is no other information or option which states that if I suspend membership I won’t be able to cancel for a another whole 30 days ( notice period). Which could have been quite helpful and I wouldn’t have suspended it. Over all it’s just so annoying that everyone I get in touch tells me that they can’t do anything or they can’t help me.how is it possible that they can’t do anything at all. My experience was not so good.i don’t think it’s so difficult at some other gym, i should have never gone there and definitely would never recommend to anyone .

Negative experience: Over one month now since attempting to cancel my '12' month contract... Be extremely weary of this mob. Will blast your phone to sign up but when it comes to cancel you won't receive much if any contact. I am really struggling now to cancel, won't allow me to do this over the phone.. yet there cancellation email system is a '3-5' day response... it's a con in my opinion. Gym is large although lacks hygiene and equipment.
Negative experience: They advertised 28 days free trial. I signed up with them and they started deduction from the first day. Couldn't fix their system. They just kept deducting every week. Between 8th of April to 15th April they had deducted 125AUD. There goes my free trial. They just lost a customer.
Negative experience: Even though this gym is directly across the road to my house I would never rejoin this gym. They harassed me for months over a bill I didn't owe. They kept charging me for months after I cancelled my contract. They did not refund me my money. They use unscrupulous practices to keep taking money from your account. A 12 month membership doesn't mean a 12 month membership to them unless you actually cancel your membership in 12 months they just keep charging your account without your knowledge. I had to fight with debt collectors over them. Absolutely never ever again! I've been with revo ever since I left genisis. It's a bit further from my house but for two years I've had zero problems with revo. No hidden fees. No irritating sales speel, no stealing money from my account. Revo is simple, it's easy and it's affordable. I don't need the frills and the sales pitch. I just need an affordable functional gym that doesn't treat me like a walking dollar sign. Worst gym experience ever at Genisis! Never again. And it's such a shame as it's literally directly across the road from my house!

Positive experience: Trained for 5 years there. Really liked the big open space and abundant equipment. Over time the equipment became dilapidated due to lack of maintenance and the place and company just wasn’t that exciting anymore.
Negative experience: The worst fitness i have ever visited . They just want you to get it. They didn’t tell all about the membership and cancellation. When you gonna cancel your membership you cant imagine what drama they did . Be careful!!

Negative experience: Stay away from this one. I recently joined up with a membership, requested the start date to be scheduled from 2 weeks from date of signing the contract. Was assured this would have been done. A one-off admin fee and membership weekly fees started coming out of my account days later. Made numerous attempts to cancel before the contract was supposed to begin, emailed form intention to cancel contract, called no answer. Got time off work on Saturday to sit around for 3 hours during staffed hours when there was nobody on. Took more time off work on the following Monday to be informed that I was past the cooling-off period and there was a $300 + cancellation fee. Stated I would try to attend some days. Now I receive an email saying membership is cancelled and the fee is only $150 ? What happened, is it actually being cancelled? This isn’t in the manner and form in accordance with the contract.

Positive experience: Love this gym. Recently returned after a break to find that it still is a nice place to workout. I come in around 3/3:30am during the week with my housemates and it is nice and quiet. The only thing missing is a steam room! Only reason i would look elsewhere

Fantastic experience: Love this gym, and love that the second entrance to the women’s gym was walled off in the last year or so to close the space in a little more. Patiently waiting for the day a hip thrust machine gets added in, loved that machine at my old gym staff are always friendly and equipment gets fixed fairly quickly

Negative experience: Not coming again…. It has a females only bit but a big open door men can look into and they do when they walk past? They have a lot of equipment but often not whipped down , and if you ever want to cancel you have to pay almost 6 weeks still worth of $20 a week to cancel ?! If you miss their calls being at work they threaten debt collection , or they don’t cancel your membership and keep charging you , waste of money.. the staff can be very rude too when I was going there
Hi Amethyst, we hear you.- There are gym wipes in the ladies' room for members to wipe down.- Gym equipment gets wiped down in sections.- Cancellation requests need to be in writing and everyone that calls to cancel will be directed to our website to fill out a form. All cancellations require 30 days' notice once they are out of term. I had a look at your account and we had put through 30 days notice. You got charged 6 weeks because that was including the overdues from 31/8 and you asked to cancel on 5/9.- We follow up with all our overdue members once a week and we only send them through to debt collection after they miss a minimum of 3 payments. Even then, we still send them out a notification to give members a last chance to get in touch before the account gets sent to debt.- Apologies if the staff came across as rude. We will make sure we improve our service to provide a better experience for our members.
Negative experience: Unprofessional PT — Chrissoula. Making appointments but stood up people. I don’t think they can take care of students. That is ridiculous. 1) I finished Job at 7:00 pm, waiting for 2 hours just for 9:00PM appointment. 2) During the phone conversation, double check is it in the evening and she said yes. 3) 8:43pm I had to start to call and double check, get cut directly. I think she walked past me since getting evening PT class, so until 9 o’clock cut the phone and replied at 9:02 saying she was in bed. I don’t think this kind PT can really be responsible, so disappointed. Wasting time and at the beginning even no apologies, so rude.

Fantastic experience: It's big in size, gets busy sometimes but always have something free to do. Some equipment needs replacing, I guess they're old and some out of order. Loved the massage chair, wish everyone cleaned after using the chair or even the gym equipments at night. When people know there's no staff there, they just don't use the towel, leave weights around and not clean. May be someone needs to check the cameras and give these members a call.

Negative experience: Very shady and pushy customer service that don’t disclose terms of service and add undisclosed special conditions on membership that make it a nightmare to downgrade the membership or cancel it, without having to pay extra. While the experience and use of facilities itself was okay, the sign up and membership process lacks integrity and the staff lack basic decency and common sense to manage the situation cooperatively, and show a complete lack of empathy.

Negative experience: Genesis Bentley is a conveniently located gym with ample floor and parking space. The staff are friendly, there are countless different group classes available and there is a strong sense of community amongst the members. However, that is where the pros stop. One year ago I made a post in a members group enquiring about a few concerns that myself and several other members had. These concerns included broken machines and machines that were supposed to be arriving in the gym. My post was kindly responded to by the gym owner who highlighted that parts were being ordered for broken machines and explained the reasons for the delayed arrival of new machines. As stated by the owner, the gym was about to go through a procurement process where a new cardio fleet and several pin-loaded machines would replace existing equipment, and that COVID was causing a delay of 3 - 6 months (this was in March 2021). One year on from my post and the gym is in the same, if not a worse off condition. Cable systems are consistently broken and the stairmaster is at a point where it’s spent more days on the sideline than it has as a functional piece of equipment. I have noticed much of the gym community growing increasingly impatient regarding the implementation of the so called “procurement process”. It is quite disheartening to see gyms both north and south along Albany highway undergo renovations and receive new machines during the pandemic, whilst members of Genesis Bentley have been promised, and are yet to receive, a pec deck for close to 3 years now. I have also noticed the steady cancellation of members in recent months (some of which were training at Genesis for 5+ years) due to dissatisfaction with the gym and the opening of competitor gyms offering better/cheaper services. Finally, to whoever is reading this and is wanting to know how you can gain the remaining 3 stars; if machines are needing to be fixed at least once every 4 - 8 weeks then they are probably write offs and need replacing, spread out the (monetary, regarding the many giveaways) efforts from just Coaching Zone and look at how you can improve the overall experience for those like myself who have a hypertrophy styled approach to training and stop pushing members to refer friends. I’m extremely confident that if the gym was in a better condition then people would tell their friends on their own accord.
Negative experience: Enjoyed using the ladies gym and classes while I was there. Signed up for the flexible membership instead of the 12 months contract knowing that I couldn’t commit for long. It was really disappointing that it was not brought to notice that there’s a 30 days cancellation period when I signed up. After the cancellation proceeded, I was still being charged one extra week on top of the 30 days.
Hello Ruth - we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I am sorry you feel this way, however all of our memberships require 30 days notice to cancel. This is mentioned in the fine print and ALSO highlighted on the front of the agreement as one of the special conditions of membership which is emailed to you on joining.

Fantastic experience: women has seperate section but can train anywhere, I recommend it, staff are friendly. this gym has all the machine we could use and big areas.

Fantastic experience: First gym I’ve actually stuck it out in- the Coaching Zone was the best decision I made though I admit I wasn’t sure when I first started. A few months later and I’ve just completed a 6 week challenge of 3 sessions a week and I actually enjoyed it! Coaches are helpful and friendly and invested in helping you reach your goals.

Fantastic experience: The best thing about this gym I absolutely love is the facilities in terms of variety of equipment in an excellent ratio to the workout space available! Also the ladies gym room as a separate component is one of the biggest reasons if not, the main reason my partner signed up as well.

Fantastic experience: Just moved across from Goodlife and couldn't be happier. Massive gym with plenty of equipment and 24/7 access. The gym is kept very clean, there is always plenty of wipes available and never weights left lying around or left on bars.

Negative experience: This is a spacious gym with varieties of equipment that caters to your training regardless of what you are doing. Complete w/ classes and multiple bars that is suitable for any training regime. Genesis embodies versatility and simplicity under one roof. Which is the reason why I signed up! I had to give 1 star due to the miscommunication that escalated to false accusation directed at me and an unnecessary warning that was given to me to serve the penalty on the things I believe I did not do / intend to by your General Manager. I trained w/ my partner (JC) at 8PM and finished at 10PM. I however was planning to tag along w/ my other mate (SL) who planned to come earlier but could not do so. I then proceed to train w/ SL after the previous session and we entered w/ my keycard. From my knowledge she got a Groupon Membership for 30 days at $1. I had no idea that she could not enter after staff hours, which I quickly realise following this e-mail. I tried to rectify this issue and call Tim your Club Manager to explain him the situation. We started the call with me trying to tell him who I am and he quickly jumped to the conversation: “So you came in to the gym last week with your partner / your girlfriend or who was this?” To that I responded yes I did. I then proceed to explain: maybe I did not scan prior to entering but to my memory I have always scanned my key tag. Lets just say I did not. I am just like anyone, capable of making a mistake. Does it really need to be explained that I am a member and I didn’t do it deliberately? (Refer to pictures) Moving on, after I finished the sesh. SL came in to train and she was new so I had to stay back and introduce the gym and whats around it to play around right? Why does your manager insist that I still ‘need’ to scan? If I didn’t scan how did I enter the facility w/ SL in the first place after exiting before reentering? FYI: on late night some members leave the door open widely. Subjectively speaking, how would you feel if someone (w/ a relatively respectable position) talks to you in an intrusive manner and ask you why did you not scan when in reality I had no clue before the email came, that groupon members were not able to enter the facility after 6PM? If it was after the 30 days period of the groupon then it would be another story. Now my question is: Why are we so caught up to the point where I had to convince your manager that I did not ‘intend’ to sneak her in and that: I have a keytag and information about myself on you respective member database. To the point where he told me on the phone that I have this ‘animosity’ and ‘attitude’? Maybe next time try to deliver your message with proper pace, try to listen and maybe just try to think on the perspective of other person? Reiterating. The only problem was, SL entered the facility by tagging along with me when in reality she had no idea (according to her) that she could not enter. Please consider what is the logic behind me risking a penalty and my membership to be revoked just to ‘sneak’ someone in? Would it make sense? Probably not. I am very upset when he said: “If you don’t mind paying the penalty for not scanning then just come in and pay $150” before he hung up on me. How do you expect me to react after that? I will give you the benefit of doubt. If in any case Genesis - Health & Fitness finds me guilty. Please do us a favour and cancel my membership, thank you. Best, Leonardo Sucitra
Hey Leo - we spoke last week about this and I believe that there was a miscommunication on both sides. I have discussed the matter with Tim and reaffirmed the manner in which this kind of conversation should be approached. However, as you are also aware, we do not allow Members to let non-Members (or other people without a tag) into the gym - this breaches our Membership Agreement. The reason we take a firm view on this is because we value the safety of our Members and must know who is in the club at all times. I look forward to seeing you in the club when you train next. Negative experience: i feel bad with their sevice because when you ask for cancel the membership they dont reply quickly. i sent email a week ago but they replied me that they need to review the contract and policy and it takes up to 2 businessdays. i cannot understand thing is member management is using the computer program, and they can check all the information and just click cancel or such like that kind of button but they said it take 2days, worse thing is 4 businessdays(6days from mail recieved) pass, still i dont get any message from them. 30days notification is understandable because it is on contract, however, i cannot understand to process the cancellation for a week.
Negative experience: The positive side : gym is very spacious with good equipments. Negative side came to picture after being a member for almost 2 years when I wanted to cancel my membership. I gave them a notice on 28th Jan via their website and received an email that they received and it will be cancelled after 30 days cancellation period. I was charged on 29th Jan and then till 5th March - which is well beyond my cancellation period. When asked for explanation they could hardly explain except repeating - "we have not overcharged". After asking a few more times, they told to contact DebitSuccess and just shrugged off the responsibility in this matter !!! While I would have accepted a reasonable explanation, it is completely unprofessional about the way they treated a customer and denied to explain direct debit - it is almost illegal ! Looking at the reviews, I now can see there is a pattern about how they respond to cancellation of memberships or old members. More focused on new members than to retain old customers !!! THINK TWICE - you might find other gyms better and more professional.
Fantastic experience: Large gym with plenty of equipment on offer, including olympic lifting platforms, so you will rarely need to wait to use equipment or need to 'work in' with another gym goer. Staff are friendly and will pass a greeting to you as you walk in. Plenty of shower and change facilities available also so ideal for people who need to drop in to the gym before heading straight to work. A worthwhile gym overall as they don't try to force annoying rules on members like some other gyms. Management also has been listening to feedback over the years and improving upon problem areas which is reassuring.

Fantastic experience: Being at Genesis Bentley is an amazing experience. The coaches are very professional and classes are enjoyable. I’ve tried the coaching zone, pilates, and pump class and I repeat it every time I can. There are many schedules for classes, which can be booked from the Genesis app. There is also a special zone for women with all the equipment we need to train. Give it a try you’ll love it.

Fantastic experience: Been in this gym for months now. I have never stayed in a gym for this long. Maximum was probably like 3 or 4 days. it has a really clean and friendly environment. it has good equipment and all the equipments are in order. it has staff that have a good heart that are really friendly and kind and are always smiling. They make you feel like you are at home and don't treat you like you are some sort of stranger. Plus starting the gym with a personal trainer is the right way to start if you are exercising and weightlifting for the very first time. Getting a personal trainer is very important for a beginner going to the gym with no experience. Never had any problems with this gym. Would highly recommend this gym to everyone. Not really good with doing reviews but if I contribute to new people coming in to the gym then that will make me happy. :) ☺

Fantastic experience: The place is spacious, clean, doesn't smell like a sweat shop. Layout of the gym is neat and doesn't feel out of place which is why I choose Genesis Bentley in particular compared to the other gyms around this area. Staffs are friendly, attentive and polite, and of course the gym equipments are not old and regularly maintained. Would definitely recommend Genesis Bentley to anyone who is interested. 5

Fantastic experience: I normally hate going to the gym, but I was lured in for the Six Week challenge and really enjoyed it. Staff were very positive and helpful towards me and motivational to all members in the coaching zone class, creating a rewarding social team environment where everyone encouraged each other irrespective of the varying levels of fitness. Weekly challenges were a bonus at creating a competitive spirit and designed to encourage all to participate.
