Fantastic experience: Great pool to take the kids, especially good in summer. The outside water park is exceptional.
Negative experience: My son had a very disappointing experience learning to swim. Despite nearly a year of lessons, he made no progress, and it seemed the center was only interested in making money. It wasn't until I called the center after a year that they realized he should advance to the next level. Additionally, my son injured his leg, and we were told we could get a credit refund if we provided a medical certificate. However, when we submitted the certificate in person, we were instructed to email it instead. After emailing it, they informed us that the certificate needed to cover two consecutive lessons to qualify for a credit. The entire system is disorganized, and they are reluctant to issue a refund even with a valid medical certificate. Don’t learn swimming here!

Negative experience: A great facility but DIRTY. staff are lazy unhelpful. And rude. Shame. Water park is amazing for kids.

Negative experience: They Don't take cash.. So I don't go anymore
Hi Kay, I'm sorry to hear that you no longer attend due to our facilities being cashless. Sutherland Shire Council has been fully cashless since 1 January 2022. Council does not accept payments by cash or by cheque* at our administration centre and other facilities, including libraries, leisure centres, animal shelter, plant nursery and Hazelhurst Arts Centre. The reason for this is it creates operational efficiencies, which allow resources to be focused on other Council services which benefit our community. There are also other benefits such as reducing the levels of risk associated with workplace safety and hygiene. It is legal for organisations to set the terms of payment for services provided; this includes restricting payment by cash or cheques at Council Leisure Centres. Whilst this may be a challenge for some, Leisure Services have been instructed to follow the direction set by Council. Positive experience: Grand kids loved it, both indoor and outdoor areas well set up, change rooms and bathrooms easily accessible and spotless. Cafe coffee hit the spot too. Staff were helpful, atmosphere fun.

Negative experience: They spent about a year renovating the side car park to achieve less than 70% of the spaces previously available… Hope someone’s friends made good money on all that concrete.

Fantastic experience: My son is in frogs swimming lessons every Thursday afternoon he has improved out of sight he loves his super coach Eric looks forward to his lesson every week.
Negative experience: I was swimming and had 4 laps to go. Lift guard stood at the end of the pool at 8:44 and said I need to get out. I asked politely if I could do 4 more laps and received the answer “ no we shut the pool at 8:45pm” which he could have said sorry we shut or quickly do the 4 laps and have a quick shower and I would have been happy. I said sorry I will do 4 more and they were whistling and yelling at me to get out so I only did 2 laps and got out. They were all angry at me. At Caringbah they are much better at customer service and let you get out at 8:50pm. 5 stars there. I had a quick shower and was out by 8:52pm I used to be in customer service and we opened our doors until the opening times that were stated. They need to be more transparent when the pool actually shuts timed Customer service on entry was very nice and 5 stars

Negative experience: The water park was pristine very fun and kids enjoyed. However there is limited shade and on a day when it’s hot you’d need to bring your own shelter. However the children’s pool was disgusting, there was mould everywhere, tiles missing with mould replacing the tiles, dirty and so gross. I told the people there they said it was up to the contractors. This was a real letdown. I didn’t want to put my feet in there let alone my granddaughter. I’ve added photos as they really need to Up their game.
Positive experience: Lots of different pools for all ages. Free parking. Little cafe with coffee and some food items. Steam room and spa. Good facilities.

Fantastic experience: I attended Sutherland Leisure Centre today with my daughter and two friends, when I encountered a member of staff at the outdoor pool. Jane, who was taking a squad lesson at the time, was incredibly helpful and friendly. I was so impressed with her character and care of the children she was instructing but also myself and the children I was with. She is a kind, warm teacher who is dedicated to her profession and improving those in her instruction and around her. Jane is truly an incredible teacher and person. She is a real asset to the swim program at Sutherland.

Positive experience: Every evening the floor is sprayed with the hose while people are still swimming. This water goes into the pool and gives a weird taste of cardboard. Taking into consideration that people walk all day long with their shoes around the pool it doesn’t seem hygienic. If you assume it is safe to do that, why in some countries it is an obligation to shower first and walk thru a long basin to clean the feet before swimming, and no shoes are allowed?

Negative experience: Outsourcing food facilities at a publicly owned venue has failed - this is thimble is $7 worth of hot chips. If they’re going to extort on prices at least give a decent product

Fantastic experience: They should really rename it the pleasure centre. So many options, kids love the indoor pool affectionately known as the mushroom pool. The gym is very handy to squeeze in a session whilst the kids are in swim lessons.

Positive experience: I'm rating Sutherland leisure centre three stars because I have been here before and really liked it. I do have a complaint though! We tried to go to this centre today to find out they don't accept cash? How ridiculous. Bad for the customers and bad for business. Some people prefer to use cash or like me today, some people only have cash on them so those people are going to go elsewhere which is surely not a smart move. We did end up going to Hurstville aquatic centre instead which was actually a much nicer centre and they accept cash so I guess it was a win win in a way. Hurstville will be our go to centre from now on and while I am only one person, if enough people choose to go elsewhere, it's terrible for business.

Negative experience: Don’t ask any questions to the staff other than “two entries to pool please”, because all you’ll get will be rude one word responses. I had questions about membership, but received zero help. It’s like they have been inconvenienced in their busy schedule of twiddling with their thumbs.

Fantastic experience: Great variety and well priced. Took my young daughter for the outdoor water play area but she also loved the indoor play pool and was also excited simply to use the outdoor pool.

Fantastic experience: Wow! Great place for family fun. One cheap entry fee and unlimited access to all areas. Soo .uch to do. So .uch fun for all ages. Kids and adults. Even elderly with access to pools for walking and gentle exercise. Waterpark is a must to visit. No deep pools. Safe and supervised. Grandkids Loved it!

Negative experience: The entry gates being out of order has exposed just how mediocre the receptionists are at their job. Awesome facility, however if something breaks it takes about a month for the staff to put in a work order and another get fixed.

Positive experience: It’s a good fitness centre, but the gym is outdated, only 1 power rack so if you’re into strength training this is not the gym for you. Needs upgrade with a modern multi-station rig for big 4 lifts, cheap to buy and they have the space too

Positive experience: Having grown up at this leisure centre, I was very excited to return with my children who had no visited in many years,it was still as great as i remember and the splash park was a new addition the kids loved it, however all the excitement was over looked because of your card only system, please consider dropping it, as a mother who receives child support in cash your making it difficult for not just myself other patrons aswell.

Fantastic experience: It was like going to a water park without paying the high prices. Was a great way to spend a Sunday. The only downside was that I got overcharged on the entry fee because the lady at the front desk thought I was lying about my daughter's age

Negative experience: I understand the societal changes since a pandemic but being totally cashless presents a major inconvenience for those working in the disability sector and I imagine other support networks. I am a disability support worker with adults and children. I have a client who I often take to Sutherland swimming pool. Being a child he obviously does not have a key card and even if his parents give him cash I am forced to pay for entry on my keycard. I find this inconvenient and potentially unethical and surely the centre can find a way for there to be a more inclusive way for patrons to enter their service. I have spoken to management about this to no avail. Surely this can be looked into and amended.

Positive experience: Front of house Staff are very efficient and attentive, the large inside pool itself is in need of a good cleaning with "high tide" watermarks around the walls. Mobility assist wheel chairs need maintenance and/or replacing, lifeguards look bored and distracted.

Negative experience: my grandma fell down the stairs STRAIGHT INTO THE 25M POOL. she can not swim and has hip and heart problems. fortunately she floated back up and I pulled her out. But she kinda liked it, she said it was like a slippery dip

Fantastic experience: Nice place for a swim. My kids do swimming lessons here & they love it. They also enjoy the outdoor slides. Watching the kids swim is pleasant as there are plenty of chairs & the centre is well ventilated so that you don't feel as though you are in a chlorinated sauna.

Fantastic experience: $25 weekly membership, lots of classes. I go to aqua classes min four times a week. Absolutely love the place, compared to regular gym. Plus membership includes unlimited use of swim, spa, steam room and group fitness classes etc

Negative experience: I've been bringing my kids here for swimming lessons for almost 15 years now and it's clear that this centre has changed its approach from providing high quality swimming lessons to making more money. From kids being stuck on the same level for 12 months+ and not being moved up, classes being crammed with too many kids that your child is only swimming for about 5 minutes of their 30 minute lesson, to being unable to get siblings on the same day/times even after calling every day for several weeks and being forced onto direct debit payments rather than term by term. Lack of suitable ventilation indoors and inconsiderate patrons not fitting appropriate swim nappies makes visiting Sutherland Leisure Centre downright unpleasant more often than not.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the sutherland leisure centre It's my go to place with my three children on the weekend and especially when it's a hot day. The place is so much fun with a large variety of things to choose from and enjoy. The splash play area outside would have to be the best. So amazing having something so fun and close to home to enjoy my boys spend hours on this, only thing to watch out for it can be slight slippery.

Positive experience: Pool was good and our 2yo enjoyed it. Frustrating that although apparently a cashless SSC facility, you have to use cash to use a locker. Maybe update the website to say “cash lockers available” in lieu of modernising the lockers to accept card payment. The change facilities (particularly the accessible ones) needed a clean with used nappies laying about.

Positive experience: Great for kids. Indoor pool for kids is huge. The 2 outdoor pool are very clean At first the water was veru cold but after a few minutes you get use to it. Maybe can improve on the canteen food selection and wait time.

Fantastic experience: Great personal training and community atmosphere. Friendly staff generally (one or two exceptions). Great for kids, adults and seniors. I love their Rhythm Fit group class and seniors aqua (I’m not a senior but all ages are welcome). Brigid is the best fitness instructor/personal trainer. All the others are great too.

Fantastic experience: Great place for family weekend outing. Huge indoor & outdoor pool and play area enough to spend the whole day. Cafe serves many different types of food as well. Plenty of toilets and bath area available which are clean too. They do sell goggles, swimsuits and floaties at the entrance. Car park may be full during weekends but there's plenty available.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing. I'm here in Australia from the UK. We have nothing in the UK that remotely comes close to the entertainment value of this wonderful, Council run, facility; and that's without even taking into account the entry cost, which at $7, is incredible too.

Positive experience: Plenty of space so no worry of infectious interactions but one a hot day can the water be a bit cooler please...
Negative experience: Very rude staff members who are discriminating people who has no plastic to pay. The leisure centre doesn't allow any payment methods except credit/debit cards. The stuff members are harassing people who are trying to pay with cash and asking to leave the premises in the rude maner.
Going cashless is an initiative of the Sutherland Shire Council. Sorry your were unaware prior to your visit. Our staff are not discriminating, they are adhering to Council policy, please be mindful not to take your frustration out on our staff.
Fantastic experience: A pool and recreation area that cant be faulted. Clean ,safe and extremely well supervised. Accommodates all ages and all your fitness and recreational needs. ☝️

Positive experience: My granddaughter and I had a refreshing swim here , it has certainly changed in the 50 plus years since I first did school swimming here. It wasn't too crowded so it suited us.
Negative experience: Guys if someone rings and asks specifically, do you have a sauna? Don't tell then you do. Because you don't! You have a steam room . Completely different. And maybe don't argue with someone when they arrive and are charged and then rightly point this out. One is dry and a lot hotter. That would be a Sauna. The other one has Steam. Hence the name Steam Room. Bloody gronks

Positive experience: Nice facility. Would be really nice if any of the locks worked! Pretty expensive $9 for a swim and an additional $9 for a spa and sauna if you are casual. Membership drops the price.

Positive experience: Unfortunately the indoor pool wasn't very heated. The spa also had cold jets where you sat (so under your rear end) which was decidedly unpleasant when wanting the warmth to help reduce muscle and joint aches and pains. The centre itself was also rather cool so when out of the water the chill hit you quickly. Shower was nicely warm though, could do with some kind of heating/ventilation in the shower rooms and disabled shower/toilet to dry off the floors as it is a slipping hazard especially when mobility impaired.
Positive experience: Watched my 2 year old grandson having swimming lessons. The instructor made the lesson really fun and engaging. Due to new rules I couldn't take a photo of him swimming or of the pools. I fully understand why but also sad at the same time cos we're from interstate and I don't see him hardly but once a year. Would have been nice to have photo memories.
Positive experience: Always a good experience except yesterday. The kiosk area was completely dirty, tables and the floor was covered in smashed chips and other items. I asked the male staff member at the kiosk about it and he told me, 'it gets cleaned every night '. Not good enough I told him, take 5 minutes and give the floor a good sweep and wipe off the dirty table tops, he didn't.

Negative experience: We are so livid to what happened to us a few hours ago that I just had to write this review immediately. This is the second time we've come here. The first time we loved our experience. Loads of parking on site and the all the staff were super friendly. My wife and I were estatic to finally found the perfect leisure centre that we can visit regularly with our toddler. The pricing was reasonable too, under 3 are free and adults were approximately $10. Such a great place for babies and toddlers to gain water confidence. The indoor pool is large and spacious. It was also clean, heated and the water temperature was fantastic.. It also had fun water features to keep the little ones amused for ages. Unfortunately this one incident turned our wonderful experience to a very negative one. I was in the pool with my son and my wife asked me to teach my 2 year old to climb out of the water himself using the stairs. We were so proud of him when he finally got it. Excited, my wife pulled out her phone and started filming him happily for a few seconds. A lifeguard then approaches her. He proceeds to tell her that she needs consent to film the pool because there are other children in their swimwear. My wife immediately obliged and switched her phone off. We absolutely understand that protecting our kids are a priority. However what riled us up was there was another family in the pool filming their kids swimming for hours. There's no way the lifeguards surrounding the pool would've missed seeing her do this. If anything, unlike my wife, she was actually in the pool so she would've captured more kids in the background than we did. We were in a quiet corner when we were filming, and no one else was around. us. If the guard took a moment to look at my wife's phone, he would've noticed she was solely focusing on my son and I. Now I don't want to sound like a victim or push the race card, but we are a dark family and we were clearly the minority there. I can't confidently say that this was race motivated but It didn't make us feel good. What are we to think? White family filming freely getting away with it for hours, while a dark family filmed for a few seconds and got treated like criminals with an agenda.It honestly made us feel dirty and disgusted when all we were doing was capturing a beautiful moment with our son. Your staff need be properly trained. They need to treat everyone EQUALLY. No bias and one rule should apply to everyone. Don't call out our family, then turn a blind eye on others. The same lifeguard must've felt a little guilty for calling us out unnessarily because after I left the change room he asked me if I had a good time. No mate, I didn't because you ruined it for us!
Fantastic experience: Great facilities with fun indoor pools for the kids and a great 50m and 25m pool outdoors, along with a really amazing kids splash park for the summer! Good coffee at the coffee kiosk and friendly staff

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for casual swimming for decades. My daughter learned to swim here. I go to physio here too. They have a large indoor pool, an Olympic sized external one and a water polo one. Also gyms with modern equipment. Great place, if sometimes packed.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous place. Took my 2 yo grandson a lockdown baby who'd been not many places. We built up his water confidence in a day in the .6 metre area. Friendly staff and family there.
