Negative experience: The new club manager is unprofessional and needs to be trained in customer service and hopefully he will stop having britney spears moments and I think he is mad for business and the stuff need to get alittle bit more training so they can be the best they can be

Negative experience: This gym is very dated. Really odd layout and way too many cardio machines vs resistance and free weights. Signed up for a free trial and arrived during staff hours but there was no one there bar a pt on the gym floor so took some time to actually get into the gym.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy my membership of Goodlife Edward St in many respects. I guess as an older member, inner city dweller and Brisbane boy to the core I like the atmosphere of the Youngs Building. Its been a feature of this part of town since 1910, originally built as a warehouse for tobacco and grain products when this precinct sat adjacent to major wharves and the Customs House. I appreciate the turn of the century architecture, exposed brickwork, heavy tied beam roof and floor structure and pressed metal ceilings. For me all that is new is not critical. And the three sets of stairs are a cardio activity in themselves, if you use your imagination? Hosted parking is readily available in Charlotte and Mary streets, starting at a reasonable $10.00 and linked to your gym membership. From the get go I have been impressed by the warmth and good spirit of the mainly young female and male staff. I am greeted and farewelled in a genuine manner. My queries re admin and training tips are always cordially dealt with. Additionally I’ve done some work with the Personal Trainers. I note from their CVs and discussions with them that they are collectively the most qualified group that I have ever worked with. Their range of skills covers the martial arts, through elite athlete preparation and even cardio rehabilitation. The group classes are engaging and varied, individual sessions are thoroughly and thoughtfully delivered. Big points to the staff all round and well directed by a recently appointed, energetic and imaginative manager. Edward St doesn’t have the newest and shiniest equipment but it has plenty of everything, working. And at the end of the day its not the gear but attitude and application with what’s available. Gyms aren’t necessarily the easiest place to interact with other people particularly those with the buds and Beats welded in or on. But Edward St has a diverse mix of clientele so a smile, a nod and eventually a brief chat makes for a convivial atmosphere. I like Goodlife, Edward St and recommend it to everyone.
Negative experience: Fix your equipment, this lap pulldown...the only one here. Doesn't work the plates all wrapped. People stack dumbbells on it to get the extra weight on it. Will cause injuries soon.
Positive experience: I’ll keep coming, so long as they keep the weekly boxing class! I encourage everyone to come and try it out… best work out in 30 minutes!
Negative experience: I hated it, but you might like the poor service and old equipment. I went to this gym back in 2020 and re-joined in 2023 - amazingly everything is still the same even the smells. If anyone wants, I've got a $18 per week subscription that I can swap over.
Negative experience: An unpleasant experience. Someone opened my locker and stole my money from my bag.
Negative experience: I'm not sure why they haven't addressed the odour issue on the top floor. The entire floor is really outdated and has a strong smell. If they don't plan on closing this gym anytime soon, they should definitely renovate it. Additionally, I've had to use a padlock because my money was stolen from the locker twice. Lately, I've heard of similar incidents happening to both men and women.

Negative experience: Goodlife’s motto is ‘good for life’. They fit out a gym and then never go back to upgrade or refurbish the place for an entire lifetime. They’ve recently removed the NFC card reader from the front door so you can’t use your phone any more to access the gym and have to carry a physical card… the place is going backwards!!
Positive experience: Very interesting tucked away location with a total of 3 floors. The female locker area is very big and well lit, the shower stalls are clean and have hooks and locks. The first floor has a spin class room, some free weights and many treadmills. The second floor has a limited number of strength training machines and some free weights. This location is quite small and there is not as much space to train with the free weights. The top floor is poorly lit and a dingy and could do with better ventilation. Coming down the stairs from the second or third floors is concerning, as one false move could send you tumbling straight down 2 floors. Staff were friendly.
Positive experience: A good amount of the treadmills don't work which is disappointing. The weights room equipment is old but does the job. This area feels very cramped. The ladies lockers don't always work and the toilet always seems to be waiting on plumbing. Great location for those who want a convenient gym after work.
Negative experience: The gym is all good, I like the functional area, but the toilets are so gross. They have had a sign up about the smell and a plumber for like 2 months. Soup dispenser doesn't work so no soap to wash your hands and they are so dirty. These dirty paper towels on the floor were there Tuesday and still there Friday when I came back. I don't know if they clean the place. I do t even use the toilets, public toilets are cleaner .

Abbuchung von Mitgliedsbeiträgen trotz vorheriger Kündigung. Auf Reückfragen wird auf Zeit gespielt und nicht eingegangen. Der Mitarbeiter Wade J. hat sich besonder negativ hervorgetan. Daher rate ich allen ab dieses Fitnesstudio aufzusuchen.

Negative experience: After 15 years of being a member Goodlife thinks it's ok to charge a further month for cancelling my membership. This is nothing short of disgraceful. And it's now a few years later and Goodlife must be desperate for customers. I have had endless calls offering "special deals" to old clients. I politely decline. So, Goodlife for the sake of $40 you have lost a client for ever.
Positive experience: OK for the price of the membership; however, hope they can improve their equipment or renovation inside somehow. Cannot be so recommended compared to other branches in Goodlife. Other ones are better.
Negative experience: First time exercising here, the front desk person wasn’t nice, didn’t wear face mask and didn’t ask everyone to check in with the QLD Check-in app. While I was asking questions about my membership, he started to serve another 2 people as well (buying food and drinks) and ended up asking me to repeat the question again. I let the 2 guys purchase first, but he insisted me to talk to him at the same time asking me what I want to know about the membership.

Negative experience: It's a great gym and nice trainers but cold air is everytime blowing at you and even if you're warmed up it's pretty freezing. Unfortunately Australia has crazy health and safety regulations but doesn't explain what so strong environmental changes have for an impact on the body. Also they don't take cash payments and I'm strictly against businesses which follow that structures as its just not good.

Negative experience: Where to start... It's tiny - but we're in the CBD and that's understandable. What isn't understandable is how the equipment provided appears to have been manufactured in the same century as the building itself. It's very run down with no facilities. Why not close this down and just have one GOOD good life in the city, its clearly no longer meeting the minimum standard a good life customer should expect when they walk into a gym. Watch them reply to my comment and inform me how they appreciate the feedback and are always 'trying' to improve. Go back and look at the older reviews and you'll see the same generic copy & paste response with no actual action been taken.
Negative experience: I paid upfront for a short membership and during the sign up Alex asked for my bank account details only to complete the account setup. Alex said they will not deduct money but they did. Steven, the manager, keep saying I will get refunded but never happened. Another person that was the acting manager finally refunded the money they took and while I was there in person, they told me again that my account details were removed. I checked my account and they have made another unauthorised direct debit! This too will take forever to get refunded. Unfortunately this is another gym that's more interested in taking money. I don't trust them and definitely don't recommend them.
Fantastic experience: I trained with Phill from Goodlife for a half marathon. I finished the half marathon in my goal time and while reducing recovery time after the longer runs. Phill taught me about muscle integration and dynamic exercises that improve running and general physical movement. I was so happy with my result that I am now training with Phill to tackle a number of other events.

Fantastic experience: I've been training with Phillip Grouls for around 4 months now and the results have been amazing! I've lost 6 kg, my strength has improved massively and I'm able to do things I've never been able to do. My running speed has doubled, I can do nearly 20 pushups where before I couldn't do 1, I can move furniture around and not even notice it and much more. I'm much more defined in my back and arms and my butt now has a much better shape as well! The boxing sessions have really helped with my confidence and above all else training with Phill has helped my mental health and depression to the point I feel I no longer need medication! I'm super grateful and will be training with Phill for a very long time. Thank you so much!

Negative experience: Ancient, unkempt equipment for the $19 weekly fee where some barbells have rusted to form sharp edges. Top floor is often sauna-like since the air conditioning is either broken or switched off, so everything has a layer of condensation and the place smells horrible. Only 2 fans work and no windows can be opened, while the group training room next door is at freezing temperatures with no one using them.
Negative experience: Honestly, this place has the worst equipment I have ever seen in any gym. I have been A member of this gym for 13 months and I will usually do strength training in off peak/unstaffed hours (4am). The leg extension does not provide nearly enough range of motion to get any kind of muscle development, the leg press machines are unbalanced and thus do not provide even weight on each leg, the cables machines have metal wires worn so when you want to do chest flys, the cable actually cuts into the skin and makes you bleed (not to mention a massive biohazard). Folks, I could go on about how bad the equipment is but I actually want to encourage you to try this place once so you can actually see how poor the equipment is. It’s never been updated in the time I’ve been there. And on top of that, when I leave at 530am and do see some of the morning staff at reception, I’ll say “have a good morning” and I’ll be lucky to get a grunt out of them. They always appear tired/grumpy and make it an effort just to acknowledge that someone is there. Like ffs just do your job. Oh one last pointer, they set the aircon on 16 degrees and have every fan in the gym on, it’s a struggle to even get warm in that gym, bring a jumper, you’ll freeze. Sincerely, go elsewhere. Jetts, snap, anytime fitness are all nearby and offer the same but better facilities for a more affordable rate :)

Negative experience: After a 5hr long return trip last night, due to a locker properly malfunctioning (2 witnessed) in Edward St Goodlife... I don't really want to return to this gym. The staffed hours were not present, and all locker signage indicates that staff will be onsite from 5:30am EVERY DAY... It is unstaffed all weekend - which doesnt really help on a Friday night. There is also no alternative to use your own lock, bypassing any electronic issues. In what really was- the perfect storm of a terrible night - it seems the issue could have been alleviated. Correct signage could have been displayed, and (given the option) I would've used the lock in my bag - that I use everywhere else.
Positive experience: Have had no problems with staff. But I do classes here (And at other Goodlife Gyms) and the acoustics in this gym are poor. So when muisic is playing it is very loud and difficult to hear instructor. Betyter accoustics at other locations.

Positive experience: Not often busy, I think most people go to the one in the Wintergarden. Plenty of treadmills and bikes. Sometimes have to wait for some weight machines.
Fantastic experience: Very funky building for a gym, entrance is small and you walk up three levels to different areas of the gym. It has full toilet and shower facilities and classes aren't too crowded in the evening.

Negative experience: Talk about lacking in any form of Customer Service. Tonight I have rung and spoke to the rudest male receptionist I have ever encounter in my 45 years. That's ok you don't want to help me or your job is just the receptionist...I get it..your care factor is the thing that has made me change my mind about spending money at your gym. You have just cost your store a major client! If your bosses could have heard your conversation you would be lucky to even spend another minute in employment. I allowed my husband to listen into our conversation and he refuses to allow me to continue to try to get a response for my enquiry. Today is my third phone call this week and it's obvious to me you don't need the business. Guys your customer service skills are pathetic to say in the least....except for a young girl I spoke to yesterday afternoon. Merry Christmas, I hope you find business in 2016.
Negative experience: This is a great club and I have been a member four times previously for various lengths of time that suited my working situation over the last few years BUT............. Went to join this year for three months and was advised I could only join for three months UP FRONT if I pay an admin fee of $89 dollars? I want to pay a cash one off up front fee for the three months I'm here so no monthly charges but the manager can't tell me what the admin fee is for? Soooo disappointed - if you were a gym owner wouldn't you be glad to have the money up front with no hassles no matter whether I used my membership or not? I still have my tag and all my details are still on the computer, so why do I have to pay an admin fee?
