Negative experience: Subject: Complaint Regarding Sauna Policy Violation Dear [Manager’s Good life Queen street I am writing to express my concern regarding an incident at your facility on [02/12/2024 ], around 4 p.m. in the unisex sauna. Two male individuals were wearing wet underwear, which goes against the established guidelines. Despite my complaint to the reception and the staff’s intervention, these individuals continued their behavior for another 25-30 minutes, making the environment uncomfortable for other guests. This is not the first occurrence; my girlfriend has had to leave the sauna on two previous occasions due to similar situations. Today my girlfriend couldn't use the gym because of this situation, it's very frustrating to pay for the gym and not use it because there are men who don't respect women. I urge you to address this issue promptly. I suggest informing the individuals involved via email about the correct sauna attire and considering stricter enforcement of the rules, including membership cancelation for repeated violations. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. I came to write a review here because I spoke to the reception and the action he took did not solve the problem. Negative experience: I must say I am very disappointed in the way my membership has been handled. My I initial discussions was that I was that I wanted a fixed trial period of 3 months but it has been marked as ongoing. I had put faith in that the person signing me up understood this, not one person contracted me to see how I was finding the gym or to discuss how things would look ongoing. Then my first interaction with a PT was them wanting me to sign up with them further with $150 admin fee. I’ve had very positive experiences in the past with this gym but I will not be considering it again once this contract has ended as advised just now.

Negative experience: Paused my membership due to sickness and wasn't able to work. They charged me $10 for some reason and kept trying to direct debit my account and it turned into $40 overnight. They said they would look into it and escalate - they never got back to me. Naturally I didn't pay it. Got an email randomly this morning saying they are going to send a $700 bill to collections. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Been a member for four years and was getting PT three times a week. Will be letting everyone know about this. Facilities are sub par and there are always guys hooking up in the bathroom. Which is why I ended up going to a different Goodlife towards the end while they got it together. So dissapointing. Thought loyalty accounted for something. Such short term thinking, and are missing out on so much more money from me because of poor administraive processes and clearly a serious lacking in managerial skill. Don't use this gym.

Negative experience: The gym was good, but the staff told us unclear and incomplete information. First, she said that when giving our card we can access all gym, and then we tries going to a 24/7 gym at west end and told us we can’t enter because we need to upgrade it. And second, we told the staff that we would only like 5 weeks because we were given a choice, long term or short term, we chose short term. And she said it was all set our membership will be cancelled within 5 weeks, and then after 5 weeks our bank notified us that we paid the gym when we thought it our membership was cancelled. So we went and the guy told us we need to tell them a month ahead for it to be cancelled, it was our first to go to gym here and the girl gave us incomplete information. Hope you all be attentive please.

Negative experience: Staff are judgemental and forceful even when you say no to PT sessions, they still go and continue to bother you - some people go to the gym to learn on their own and dont want to draw attention to themselves, not be bothered by staff. Wont be coming here again.

Negative experience: It is sad at Nathan the club manager left when he care so much about the members and staff and he help alot of us out and goodlife you are making a big mistake letting a good club manager leave and I think Nathan is one of the best club manager I have seen in goodlife because he cared about everyone so Nathan thank you so much for helping me out and giving me a reason to have hope at there is good people in goodlife all the best and keep smiling and be strong

Negative experience: i have been an existing member of this club for the last 8 years and i went into the club to update my email address. I rang in today and was assisted by Harrison and he had the worst attitude. Simply not helpful at all when i said i tried logging into the membership portal and have my password reset but the password was sent to my old email add. He said there's nothing he could do to help me. In addition, i enquired about upgrading my membership to Platinum Plus and he was not very forefront in providing me with the information. I am deeply disappointed and would potentially be looking to move clubs.

Negative experience: When Paul Keating was Prime Minster he once said "never get between a State Premier and a Bucket of Money." What Paul Keating did not realise was getting between Goodlife and your wallet was much more brutal. Simple cancellation request, met with a passive aggressive response, then an aggresive response. Time for customer service staff to learn customer service skills

Negative experience: Below average over priced gym Awful opening hours,damaged equipment,false advertisement $ The only positive is the staff they are very good people always trying to help you but they are being let down by a massive Corporation. Goodlifes is letting the Staff and members down this is why I’ve gone back to independent local fitness gyms that are community hubs and not just another gym for some clown that has never been in a gym in their life

Negative experience: Old gym and old machines, but the biggest downfall is the customer service and the receptionists, just lack of everything. Sad

Negative experience: I have been a member for a while now and the club has gone downhill rapidly. This Saturday afternoon I went to the Wintergarden Goodlife with my daughter. I was in the changing room when this strange agitated guy came up to me and accused me of going through his things and taking something. I denied it but he became aggressive. I immediately went to the lone staff member in the gym and asked him to search my things which he did. But this other member remained aggressive with myself and my young daughter so I asked them to call the police but the staff member wouldn’t but instead called a security person from the Wintergarden mall. They asked him to leave which he finally did. My daughter and I returned to our workout but later this crazed man entered again. He came up to my daughter and said he would give her $100 if we returned his illegal substances!!! So now Goodlife allows methheads into their gym and are reluctant to protect their members. It is understaffed and unsafe there. My daughter does not want to return to Goodlife and I don’t blame her. We both will be terminating our membership.

Negative experience: I don’t put less stars because I can’t. I went to the club to cancel my membership and they told me I had to pay 3 more weeks. After 5 weeks they were still charging me so I contact them and they told me that my account wasn’t cancelled and that there was no evidence I went to the club to cancel. So I had to pay an extra 180$ to cancel. On top of the 100$ for the 5 extra weeks they’ve been charging me. And they treated me as I was lying. What customer service is assuming your customer is lying. They did a mistake and I was the one paying the consequences. Be very careful and never leave the club without a written confirmation or you’ll regret. Frustrating.

Negative experience: I went there to get membership and I asked the lady who was helping for membership about good life in Sydney and she said they got good life in Sydney once I come here there is no good life and I asked to cancel my membership they asked for $ 290 cancellations fees and I said I know about fees but I signed for your membership because u said there’s good life in Sydney otherwise if u were telling me there’s no good life in Sydney I wasn’t ready for membership. And then they said no we can’t do anything . They lied about it to get membership that’s it . And because they lied I’m paying money and not even using it . ♂️ Be careful guys when u go for membership don’t trust what they are telling you . The lady with blond hair slim body is a lier .

On top of that, my supposed-to-be gym trainer did not respond to either of my calls or messages as soon as I paid my first fee. Boo! This gym is a cash grab!

Positive experience: The main strengths are the functional training areas which have space and good kit. Has most of the weights but the weight training is crowded. Or at least claustrophobic. It is right in wintergarden so that can be very convenient. Not tried the classes. The West End good life is better if thats convenient for you. Or lutwychhe.

They make it basically impossible to cancel your membership easily and it's a lock in contract. PICK ANOTHER GYM goodlife is just a cash grab it is not worth the money or work it takes to leave. 100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Negative experience: As a long term Goodlife member, this is a fairly terrible gym especially if you are concentrating on weight/resistance training. The gym floor is dirty and crowded, and roof is so low, and it gives off a very claustrophobic vibe. In addition, the sauna isn’t even really a sauna as it is hardly hot, and the steam room is incredibly small. The change rooms again are grimy and dense, and it’s like you have to get changed in top of one another. The only positive is the cardio machines, they seem in a good condition and the tvs work well. Definitely, would decide to go to Goodlife Elizabeth St if you are uncertain of which gym to make your home throughout the week as it is far superior in every aspect.
Positive experience: Big gym with friendly staff. Huge cardio area and a quite large functional area, too. The weight area is big, but 2-3 machines were broken and generally the weights are not in the best shape with some loose screws or bench tops. However, the gym definitely offers everything you will need for a good workout and they offer a casual pass for $20 if you only visit Brisbane for a few days. That's a big advantage over most other chains in Brisbane CBD.

Negative experience: Went here today and I do not have many good things to say about this gym. My friend has just moved to Brisbane and wanted to find a gym to go to. I and a friend of mine go to snap fitness but my friend who recently moved here wanted to try out goodlife before she decided to sign up for snap fitness. We saw that there is a free 5 day trial being advertised so we all decided to go and give the gym a try. As we were walking in there was a sign that said "scan here for your 5 day free trial". My friends and I signed up and filled out the form on our phones and walked to the front desk. I tell the front desk and tell her that we are here for the 5 day free trial. She says " you can't just walk in here" in a very rude manner and tells me to scan the qr code on the reception desk. I politely let her know that My friends and I scanned the qr code on our outside and pointed to the sign about 20 feet away. She replies "I don't know what your scanning you need to scan this here", again in a very rude manner. We fill out this new form and we let her know that after finishing the form it just took us to the beginning of the form again. She says "yea i know what happens", I was extremely shocked and the attitude this employee was showing at this point and right after saying this to me there was a member standing at the other side of the reception and she lets the member know that they need to come to the other side of the reception to scan their card. The member walks over scans the card and as soon as the customer turns her back the employee puts her hands on her head and whispers "F*UCK ME". Following this when i signed up for the trail another employee let me know that I am not allowed to make use of the 5 day free trial being advertised because I am a snap fitness member and said he would do me the favour of allowing me to workout there today. Would not recommend this gym to anyone.
Positive experience: I go to this gym before work and it has everything I need. Always plenty of cardio machines free that sync to Apple Watch. Equipment is reasonably new and in a good condition. Sauna is great too. The only thing that could be improved is better showers as sometimes the water is cold and don’t quite spray how they should
Negative experience: The facilities were great and I very muched enjoyed my workout. But I couldn't recommend this place to any friends or family. I signed up for the free 5 day pass. On day 2 I received a call from Goodlife where I explained I wasn't interested in a membership ( I had only visited the place once and for about 2 hrs). Shortly after the phonecall I headed in for a workout but was advised that I had to pay for my visit. I paid and enjoyed another workout but wont be back. Who is to say if I would have signed up after 5 days, I felt that I was never given the chance to genuinely try.
Negative experience: A completely hopeless experience dealing with this gym. Failed on a number of health and safety concerns. Staff allow people to come to gym with active colds and flu meaning everyone is at risk of coming down with the present season's bad colds. The cleanliness of the change rooms is poor and equipment is often not put away by users making the gym look like a messy obstacle course. Also on cleanliness, have cleaners come through a bit more often. Toilets/urinals always smelly and basins and surrounding wet area always covered in hair, paper towels and general yuk. Manager agreed to cancel my membership and not further direct debit and yet I still got direct debited after he agreed. Wrote to them and got no response. Hopeless - avoid "Goodlife" Gyms.
Fantastic experience: Goodlife Health Club at Queen Street is superb. The atmosphere is great. They have a very friendly team. Their manager Josh is super helpful. I am enjoying my workout there and have seen great results. You never get bored there. I would highly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: Really love this gym. Conveniently located in the CBD friendly staff and just the right size with the plenty of equipment. I like to go off peak IE Sunday afternoon when you can work out at a leisurely pace! I always recommend this place to friends and family.

Fantastic experience: Been going to Goodlife Queen Street for around 3 months. It's a very good gym with great facilities like sauna and steam. The front reception staff are welcoming and the trainers are very helpful if you use them beyond the free sessions you get with platinum membership. My only gripe would be the cleanliness of the change rooms. Maybe having cleaners come through a bit more often. Toilets/urinals always smelly and basins and surrounding wet area always covered in hair, paper towels and general yuk. Oh & most of the wall clocks don't show the correct time - c'mon guys it ain't that hard to keep the clocks running on time!! But overall it's a 4.5 star experience.

Negative experience: It was clearly saying on the door 3 people Max in the sauna room, ended up 6 people in there, I was the first one there so I had to leave, went up to speak to receptionist, she told me that you should wear mask, are you kidding me in the sauna room ? No social distancing at all, poor management , staff don't care at all COViD rule

Positive experience: Pretty good gym. Brand new facilities and most members actually put their weights away.
Negative experience: My experience at the Goodlife gym was horrific and a nightmare, the customer service was shockingly horrendous and disgraceful and I was a victim of a very serious physical assault that left me with a large wound that had to be reported to Police, as well as bullying and harassment by other members that was going on deaf ears, to the point that one staff member was even arguing to me not to report the assault' to Police. I have a right to work out in a safe friendly environment but they just don't care. Further, when I made complaints about a Goodlife staff member being completely ignorant to the complaint I raised about a member's bullying aggressive behavior, the manager of the club not only disregarded my complaint about the staff member and the member's bullying behavior but she was also abusing me over the phone in retaliation because the staff member felt "uncomfortable" with the interaction I had with her. Firstly, I couldn't give a stuff if the staff member felt "uncomfortable"- she didn't care about the discomfort I felt about being aggressively bullied and secondly, I was not in any way over the top, I had to keep repeating to the staff member about the bullying incident a number of times because she kept ignoring me and conversing about other things and I just finally said to her that I'll just make the complaint online given that she is not interested. It doesn't end there, when I made the complaint about the Goodlife manager, the staff member and the member bullying behaviour, the regional manager contacted me by phone and it was again going on deaf ears and she was doing the same thing the manager was doing, arguing and complaining about the staff member feeling "uncomfortable" while overlooking my complaints about the bullying behavior and the staff members ignorant behavior. I cancelled my membership and will never return to any Goodlife gyms ever again, this is just disgraceful, there attitudes are utterly disgusting, they don't give a stuff about the safety and welfare of its members.
Negative experience: The two male staff who were handing out passes (outside Apple store) 7-6-21 were making fun of people as they walked passed and they said something joking about me (to each other) when I did not take a pass. I think you should consider getting staff who have customer skills. I will now never consider joining goodlife if thats the type of people who work their.

Negative experience: Have to agree with a lot of the one star reviews around how the ending of memberships etc is handled and the manager. I’ve been a Goodlife member for years and years, I referred tonnes of friends over the years because they have a monopoly and most of the time the gym is clean and has plenty of equipment. However this loyalty is not rewarded, recognised or reciprocated and neither is referring people, despite the multiple signs they flash around everywhere about getting weeks free for referring friends. What a joke! Literally the one time I did mention that I referred someone as a member they said I was one day out of the promotion and could have a water bottle laughable and so is the exit clause, they don’t care about you, they just want your money. Go to Anytime Fitness instead, they actually care about their community!
Fantastic experience: Been a member for years and it's great. Great facilities, friendly staff and 24 hour access. Also pretty good price wise.

Fantastic experience: Went to Goodlife on queens for a casual workout and what a great facility. Everything that you could want with plenty of pin loaded weight machines and free weight section. A great selection of cardio including a good number of steppers which are always popular. There at 6am on Friday and not busy at all. Overall, a great gym and would join if I lived in Brisbane.

Fantastic experience: I don't know if it is the best gym in the city but it's only one with a sauna and a steam room + fairly new gear

Negative experience: Found the Head Manager Michael extremely unhelpful and rude. Very disappointing considering the duration of time I’ve been a member at Goodlife I never experienced such poor customer service.
Positive experience: Nice big open gym with ample facilities. Pretty hectic during lunch but it is in the city after all. Amenities in the bathrooms are ok but dated. Pls fill the soap dispenses up more regularly.
Negative experience: Do not join this Club in particular Ash Burrows, the manager, continues to make attempt direct debits and charges after i have given more than 30 days notice of cancelling membership. This is now a case for ACCC.
Positive experience: 2 friends and I joined this gym yesterday and had a very nice and polite guy showing us the space and membership plan. Today though we were greeted by an unhelpful member of staff that would not explain how to book classes and told us to "look online". I'm glad we got a monthly plan only so we can quit and find one with friendlier and more helpful staff

Fantastic experience: I have seriously LOVED goodlife, it’s been one of the best gyms I’ve ever join, reading some of the other reviews has confused me a little with the odd criticism, I figured they must’ve went into some alternate reality. 5/5 with the staff 5/5 with the equipment Have absolutely loved using the multiple locations. 5/5 vibing environment I sincerely hope you are treating your staff well! Because they have been absolutely amazing. keep up the brilliant work!

Positive experience: A very clean & fresh environment for working on the treadmills or bikes! It provides classes & showers with curling tongs & a hairdryer for extra grooming purposes! $22.00 per week entitles you to use any of the Goodlife Clubs! Any member can Bring A guest on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays!

Negative experience: Used to offer 1 day casual visits and now it's a minimum 2 days and $30. Casual implies it's a single entry. What a rip.
Negative experience: Smelly rooms, air conditioning not working properly. They do not care about the people. I would not recommend this gym, but there aren't many options in Brisbane CBD.
Negative experience: Shady salesperson told me I had to give my name phone and email before she could talk to me about price. Other gyms were upfront and honest. They lost business today.
Negative experience: Rated 0/10. Today I visited the gym at Queen Street to join for a two month period whilst I work in Brisbane. I met with a sales consultant who proposed a month by month membership which suited my requirements. He advised me that he would look at waiving the $99.00 joining fee as I had been a previous long term member. The sales consultant came back and advised me that the Manager had declined the waiving of the joining fee. I told in no uncertain terms that it was unacceptable. So much for the Goodlife's mission statement "to get more Australians moving and living the Goodlife'!!!! Shame on you, I could have taken up the offer of 5 days free trial however chose to join up instead WRONG...
