Read the response and the language used by a "professional" gym manager to an aggrieved customer and ask yourself would you want to be dealing with that when you may have a change in circumstances? Or you run into financial trouble? "Don't get your way", "revenge" "people like you". This is not a "game" to win. I simply wanted help. Ego kills businesses. Do better. I also noticed there was a sudden spike of positive reviews all in the space of one day. Read for yourself and beware. I have lodged this issue to head office and to ACCC and Consumer affairs. I nearly always leave positive reviews for businesses who provide great service and love seeing small businesses succeed. **** My experience with Snap Fitness Patterson Lakes has been extremely frustrating, and I want to share my experience so others can find better gyms in the area. When I initially joined, the gym was under different management and the communication was great. The issues began when a new manager took over, leading to poor communication and a complete lack of support in resolving my membership dispute. After finding a different gym, I decided to cancel my membership. The new manager offered me the option to pause instead, which I accepted. However, I was not informed that this would extend my contract’s end date. This was hidden in the terms and conditions and would have influenced my decision had I known. Even after pausing, Snap Fitness failed to communicate the new end date in writing, a critical oversight and a breach of contract. When I eventually tried to cancel after the pause, I was charged beyond my original contract end date. Despite multiple emails and calls, I received no response until I texted the manager. Full disclosure - there was an issue where a few email responses did not come through to my inbox, however they were still vague and did not attempt to help me or cancel the membership. Despite my clear request to cancel, the charges continued, and my calls went unreturned. After further clarification, I was finally informed that my contract had been extended when I paused—information that should have been communicated upfront. The manager’s responses were vague, dismissive, and failed to address my concerns, making it increasingly difficult to cancel. Other reviews indicate that this manager has similarly impacted other members. Once I had finally established the miscommunication and after charges had continued way beyond when I first requested to cancel, I proposed a fair resolution: to treat the current date as the contract end date which at the time, would have covered an early cancellation fee if I had cancelled when the original contract ended. I did not receive a response, and I had to cancel my debit card to stop further charges. After receiving reminders for payment, I followed up once again and finally received a response which was again vague, dismissive, didn't address concerns. I responded again, with a clear request to cancel the membership, reiterating the breach of contract. Again, I received a response which did not address my email, did not confirm cancellation and simply reiterated the early cancellation fees (which I had received many times before). Overall, the lack of transparency and poor customer service has been beyond frustrating. Responses from the new manager (which was only via email or text) shows the clear intention to sign members up and keep taking their money by offering as little support as possible. I have sent countless emails and texts and provided a more than reasonable request, it really didn't have to come to a 1 star review and further escalation. This is what happens when ego gets in the way of running a successful customer-based business. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a gym that values its members and provides better support which are critical to using a gym long term and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Negative experience: NEVER TO GO THIS GYM ******PLEASE READ********* They have a very strange cancellation convention. When cancelling your membership, you need to give them 30 days notice. - The problem comes after. They claim that "any payments made(or debited) within 30 days notice period, is what the contract says" For example, 1. Say, your recurring payment day is on Monday fortnightly. 2. On Monday on 1st Aug, you are debited - Effective paid to 14th Aug 3. You notify them to cancel on 2nd Aug - Then your membership will end on 1st Sep (30 days notice period) 4. You will be debited on 15th Aug - Effective paid to 28th Aug 5. *IMPORTANT* You will be debited on 29th Aug AGAIN for the following 2 weeks 6. BUT, your membership will end on 1st Sep 7. BUT THEY DON'T REFUND THE REMAINING DAYS What a joke? It does not make sense. But they don't even listen to me, nor try to understand the contract. I do have $20, and I don't need that. I just want to make things fair. + Very very poor attitude from a staff. ***************************** I've escalated to the head quarters about this and for refund of remaining. I will update once they get back to me!

Negative experience: -Be careful: a day you register you’ll get into a lock in contract that has a penalty if you want to cancel your membership in less than a year. I went there to check out the gym and was purposefully guided and pushed to sign in even before I try it for one session. After going there for a few sessions I wanted cancel my membership then I was told that I have to pay around 270$ as a penalty. I didn’t have time and energy to escalate this and I payed the penalty but wanted to make sure that others wont fall into it. - reviews are mostly over rated and does not reflect the actual rating (for both the gym and the manager). -The gym is quite small and cardio equipments are bad e.g. elliptical range of motion hurts your knees and treadmill shakes when you run. The building is old and not designed for the gym purposes. so the floor is not solid and ceiling height is short for allowing more air to be in the gym. -I don’t recommend this gym mainly because of small floor and sneaky way of getting people into lock in contracts.

Fantastic experience: A great local gym, the staff are welcoming and there is a good variety of equipment to use. Erin the PT is welcoming and knowledgeable, the general atmosphere in the gym is relaxed.

Fantastic experience: It’s a great wee gym. It has everything you need. Regan the new club Manager has really helped change the ambiance of the gym which is really felt. There’s loads of parking available, I appreciate that it is always clean too. Bathroom facilities have been renovated which is a plus. Only tip to gym goers is to avoid peek times apart from that it’s a real hidden gem. Check it out.

Positive experience: Very middle of the road gym in my opinion. The floor space is rather small, with quite a limited number of machines and benches to use. During peak hours, good luck using the cable machine, as there will be 4 people waiting to use it before you. The equipment itself just isn’t maintained very well - lots of rust on the pin loaded machines, cracked upholstery, fraying ropes. For the plan I was on (month to month) m at $18.95 a week, there are many more gyms with a far greater selection of equipment that is better maintained. This gym is a good choice for a more casual lifter.

Positive experience: I find myself in two minds about Patterson lakes Snap Fitness. The gym is well-maintained and the staff I have met so far know their stuff. The reason I'm on the fence is that it is rather small. While it has everything you need for a great workout (or in my case, weight session), once there are more than 7 - 10 people in there, I get the feeling it is too busy. The other concern I get is that some members are not well-versed in how to use the equipment. All in all, great place if you're looking for a standard workout.

Fantastic experience: Just an update that I finally got here to check out and try the new equipment I am very impressed with 3 of the new machines so far and would encourage others to give them a try. I felt the results after each session and like the new arrangements with the placement of the equipment. Looking forward to my next visit, as newly updated equipment coming on board and looking forward to trying it out. I originally joined your gym because it was convenient and very suitable for my future training. You have a great health and fitness gym. Located upstairs and ample parking in various parking areas, with easy access from parking areas. Small, yet very suitable for a quick workout. Steer clear of peak times as equipment is limited. Having a ab machine is definitely a bonus as some gyms don't have.

Negative experience: I have edited this review to better reflect the overall experience with Snap Fitness Patterson Lakes. COVID was contracted by the club manager. Several days later I and at least one other person contracted COVID. We both spent significant time one on one with the club manager. Make of that what you will, however the owner will dispute this and has shown in text that they do not understand how the virus works. My issue stems from no communication going out to all club members advising of a case and potential infection, basic customer service, and how the owner responded to me when I suggested they should do this, regardless of government guidelines. I then requested cancellation of my membership, which then led to the owner attempting to overcharge me against Snap Fitness' own terms and conditions, as well as breaking several Australian Consumer Law statutes. The owner has resorted to harassment as well. The owner will dispute all of this, and no doubt make up a bunch of things to make me look bad, however I have all of this in written form, by SMS and email. Make of that what you will, however I could, in good conscious, not recommend Snap Fitness Patterson Lakes to anyone.

Negative experience: This gym has made it extremely difficult to cancel my membership, I had to go in person to sign another piece of paper and mind you the receptionist was quite rude and not helpful when filling out the cancelation form to then find out even after I canceled my membership 3 weeks ago they have still been charging me. It is extremely difficult to get through to them as I’ve called multiple times with no response, overall my experience with this company has been nothing but a headache.

Fantastic experience: Been going here on and off for the better part of 3 years now (when possible) and can say I am really happy to be a member! The equipment is fully functional and clean, with a lot of treadmills and a surprisingly extensive array of workout options for such a small, or rather cosy, space! Better yet, you used to be able to slightly smell the subway below you from inside the old bathrooms- it used to motivate me and get me excited for a meal afterwards! With the recent updates however the feature is gone- yet it is definitely for the better as the space appears even more refined and functional- with some new fancy technology joining the other cool features in both the gym and bathroom space! Staff are lovely, always helpful and friendly. Respect them, the space and everyone else around you and it will do the same for you!

Negative experience: Average at best equipment, staff feeding rubbish about the "joining fee" being the cost of the RFID access card (if that is the case, the joining fee should be around $1). Do people actually fall for this? Why lies guys? Intermittent opening due to Covid forced me to cancel as I was continually charged for a service that was not available. This does suck, but thing long term here Snap... To cancel the service I had to call (when staff were available (no messages returned) only to be told I had to email my cancellation request, then be sent a cancellation request pdf, then receive an email informing me that the email address is not monitored and I will need to call again to ensure receipt of my cancellation request. Seriously... Unnecessary and annoying joining fees. Expensive fortnightly fees. Unnecessary and clearly barrier creating cancellation procedures. Found a better gym for literally half the price without the exit hurdles that devalue the brand and leave one wondering how Snap expects loyalty from its customers.

Fantastic experience: Weights are off a better caliber than most surrounding gyms and prices are half off what you would pay at another gym month by month no contracts and your elevated and able to look outside whilst training... friendly helpful unimposing staff available to assist you also 24hr access.....

Positive experience: Very squishy - only one power rack but absolutely tonnes of machines. If I was managing this I would probably cut down on number of machines as there's barely any clearance in some places between one piece and another, and racks are so much more versatile. Otherwise the vibe here is good and staff were friendly when I dropped by which goes a long way!

Negative experience: When member ship runs out won't be back. Staff a joke don't get any support.

Fantastic experience: Visited this gym the first time in September and have loved it ever since. Came in as a member until December and then became manager of the place. Couldn't be happier than to be there all day. Amazing, friendly atmosphere, loving the community vibe, great equipment and high quality group fitness classes.

BE CAREFUL OF ALEX, i rang up to cancel my membership and Alex told me he needs to process a final payment and then my membership was over, a month later i find that they are still charging my account, i spoke with the owner Mitch (he told me thats who he was) and he told me that i need to apply in writing to have my membership cancelled, i asked him why Alex didn't tell me this and he had no response
