Fantastic experience: Really nice modern gym. Also with super helpful and friendly staff which makes it great :)

Fantastic experience: Great range of machines, very clean too.

Negative experience: Water fountains never work, temperature inside the gym is unbearable like working out in a hot box in areas. Machines need to be reupholstered, can’t use them without it hurting and scratching you. This gym is really going down hill. Would not recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Incorrectly charged $20 for a session for an extra person on black card. The lady behind the counter credited back my account. Good customer service.

Negative experience: Was once a fervent club member of planet fitness but the recent experience with the membership was horrendous to say the least. After requesting to cancel the membership , I was advised it was cancelled to only be charged later on . Subsequently I am unable to get the fee I was charged due to their mistake and am only faced with inconsistent emails with lies. I would advise caution when signing up and trying to quit this gym. Edit: I have replied to the email provided with the exact events occurring 24/10/24, I have yet to receive any reply. It would seem the response would just be their social team trying to upkeep reviews rather than actually being helpful. Will update this comment if i ever do.

Negative experience: I signed up before the place even opened and was very happy with it up until this year. In the past 6 months it has gone extremely downhill, the water fountain hasn’t worked for months and the whole place smells like urine. There’s always multiple staff members standing around the front desk when they could be cleaning the filthy toilets and refilling the empty soap dispensers. The previous manager and cleaners were awesome but now there seems to be a never-ending revolving door of employee turnover. Only reason I still go to this gym is because it’s only $5 a week but I guess you get what you pay for.

Negative experience: I've been a member since it opened and it's terribly managed. The water cooler is broken more often than not. The airconditioning has been broken for months. The locker rooms stink of piss because the toilets are disgusting and urinals often blocked. The equipment is mostly well maintained albeit lacking in some areas but that's Planet fitness. Honestly Mundingburra Planet Fitness is so much nicer. The only reason I'm still a member is it's conveniently close and cheap.

Negative experience: Air con is being purposefully turned OFF. Its so humid inside there now. Ive been going there for 1 year and it was great, It use to be cold. I asked the manager and he lied to my face saying the air con was on and that the reason its humid inside the gym is because its hot outside... lol Pretty insulting when they lie so obviously and expect u to swallow it. Clearly trying to pocket some extra money at the expense of the people going there. Ill start looking for a new gym tommor

Negative experience: Surly uninterested staff. The facilities are good. But the male staff make you feel like an inconvenience

Negative experience: I have been a member for over a year, tired of waiting for use of machines, due to members on their mobile phones. Not to mention compulsory wiping of gym equipment after use by some members members, hey there is a new covid strain, sanitise after using equipent, looking at another gym.

Fantastic experience: This gym is really well appointed and always clean. Good locker room facilities and the black card spa is worth the extra fee. Also the membership is transparent pricing and really good value. Good range of equipment!

Negative experience: gunna be honest the staff at night lowkey arent very good at being welcoming but uhh other than that. the gym rocks!!!

Positive experience: It was alright, I didn't have a membership, but my nephew did, and what was included in it is really good, considering how cheap membership is. My issue with the place is that they sting you $20 a session, If you don't have a membership. And the fact that they only have Smith machines to be able to do bench press.

Negative experience: I joined during the "No annual fee" promotion. However, 2 days ago I was charged the annual fee anyway ($40). When I called I was given an apology and was told I would be refunded eventually, likely in a few weeks. I know that the person I spoke with was not at fault but when a business overdraws my bank account due to an error in their system I expect the situation to be resolved immediately or to be given some kind of compensation.

Negative experience: 4 months to cancel 1 membership. No one know what they are doing. 4 months extra I had to pay. Plus if you look back at your payments they aren't the same, they change them. So you pay more. 1 star is to many.

Positive experience: I really love this gym I have been a member since its inception...but lately have noticed little things have been ignored...e.g. NO soap in the ladies washrooms for nearly 2 weeks!...and last week NO paper towel to wipe down your equipment...pretty basic stuff...I am worried the attention is NOW focussed on the new Gym at Rising Sun shops? I hope not...I love it here and would never leave..but hey guys don't forget about your core members.

Negative experience: This place is ridiculous , most of the floorspace is taken up by cardio machines , treadmills bikes etc etc , with not even 1 20th of them being used , the weight machines they have are randomly put around the edges , they look like flash machines but most of them are not ergonomic and not comfortable to use , they just look new . No free bench racks which is the absolute foundation of upper body strength and core stability , instead they have a number of smith machines which are not good for your joints , maybe useful for someone who's disabled perhaps . This place is a waste of time , if your looking for a real gym don't go to planet fitness , there's many gyms in Townsville that are lightyears ahead of planet fitness .

Negative experience: One of the worst gyms I have ever went to. This gym is more suitable for cheap people that just started the fitness journey. Not really my style I'm not gonna be quite like a mouse when I'm lifting heavy weight.

Fantastic experience: Update: can be difficult to get in for the program development appts if you can only make it after hours. Took only a week or two to work out when the busy times were. The crowd estimates on the app are wholly inaccurate. ≈≈≈ I've been going to Planet Fitness Thuringowa for a couple of months now and enjoying doing my own thing, but am hoping to make it to a Program Design session soon and possibly a class of two. I prefer to go during the quieter times, but even when it's busy, there has been equipment available. I've got the black card membership so can take a friend which is great for motivation. The hydromassage is pretty good too. You have to time your visits if you want the spa area though, as it's only open when the front is staffed. Same for using lockers. Sometimes the bathroom/toilet area can be a bit messy. Says more about some of the patrons than the staff doing the cleaning though.

The equipment is top-notch and always well-maintained, ensuring a great workout experience. Additionally, the staff is friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with any needs. And I like the massage chairs and hydrobed at the end of my exercise. Overall, it's an excellent gym that offers great value for your money.

Negative experience: Not member anymore but when I was there they have great facility for everyone. Just sucks that they don't do creche rest why I left. I rang up how to cancel my member and service was terrible like the lady made me feel like bad person and just said come into the gym to cancel your membership. Coming in to do so as easy and hassle free thankfully.

Fantastic experience: The black card membership is so worth it! Access to everything 24/7, water massage beds, endless amounts of equipment including a 30min circuit workout!! 100% recommend this gym over any others in Townsville.

Negative experience: This rating is purely based on how difficult it is to cancel a membership if you're not able to do it in person. I had to leave town abruptly and Planet Fitness request that you send a letter via post to cancel.... its 2022, no reason it can't be done via email or phone. I won't be rejoining....

Fantastic experience: Such a diverse and inclusive non judgement environment, I feel incredibly safe here. A great array of equipment and machines. The black card membership is absolutely worth it and has so many benifits. Staff are always helpful and kind. Amenities are always clean and tidy and staff are regularly checking on them. Did I mention the female amenities have hair straighteners and blow dryers available? Plenty of lockers with inbuilt phone charging ports. The hydro beds are incredible, I've never woken up the next day sore after using the hydro bed after a workout. An all round relaxed atmosphere with no pressure or expectations. Such an amazing gym.
