Positive experience: Change rooms a bit cramped after group programs.

Negative experience: Lifeguards are fairly consistently rude A couple of good swim teachers but too many intolerant ones and they always cut lessons short Kinder gym is not great - too many instructions up front for little ones, just give them one instruction at a time.

Fantastic experience: Great location to bring the kids. Classes are excellent too.

Negative experience: Gymnastics - My daughter attended this program for about a month. She enjoyed the classes but learned very little. The classes are chaotic and loud. The way the girls are taught unfortunately does not result in them gaining much knowledge. From what I saw the girls are broken into smaller groups and then dispersed into different areas. The group is then explained (but not shown) the five activities they will be doing and then the girls all start wherever they want. It was frustrating to watch my daughter attempt an activity not really understanding what she needed to do, do it wrong, usually without the teacher ever seeing, and then move on to the next thing. The teacher watches around the room and tries to help the scattered kids but it's so ineffective. I would have liked to have seen the teacher show each activity while explaining it, get each of the kids to have a turn while being watched and tutored before going on to the next thing. At least this way they can learn from the get go. My daughter hurt herself twice in her time there (not badly) because she didn't know how to do something that the teachers assumed she did. It was frustrating to watch. The teachers are nice young women but need a lot more training on how to teach effectively. I can see some of the older kids seem to do cartwheels and handstands well but it's hard to believe they learned them here. It's definitely a fun class for everyone and for the majority of parents that drop and run it probably doesn't matter the learnings are limited as more about having fun. I ended up enrolling my daughter at a different gymnastics class in Newtown and after only two lessons the difference is just incredible so I am glad I made the switch.

Fantastic experience: Great range of classes, skilled trainers that are always ready to help and friendly staff. Highly recommend taking up a membership.

Negative experience: Swimming teachers are amazing but the pool itself is a really bad layout. If you're trying to play with your child in the big pool which is the only public area to really play when swimming lessons are on you only have the one strip and have to constantly keep looking behind you for the elderly that are exercising so should really be in the 2nd lane. You can't enjoy playing with your children because this is all you do. There needs to be one big pool for playing and no elderly doing laps so kids can have a proper play. Also needs to be more then one family toilet for the disabled and families with kids. The other ones are impossible to shower and dress kids in and I'd imagine very hard for elderly/disabled to shower and get dressed in. However: Swimming teachers are all amazing The kids area is good and warm The Cafe is great, best coffee there is, also great food.

Positive experience: Grandkids really enjoyed the huge slides, but felt robbed because the slides closed 1/2 hr. before advertised!

Negative experience: Took my grandchildren for a swim, the old lady lifesaver with long dirty hair, very rudely approached me, with absolutely no respect, told me to look after the kids, that it's wasn't her responsibility, I had just left to take one to the toilet. Maybe management should teach her respect and customer service. It doesn't COST anything to be nice. I totally understand she has a job to do and yes I did APOLOGISE, but learn how to speak to customers.

Positive experience: Great facility here. Lots to do with young kids on a miserable day! The playground pool is lots of fun for little ones, plenty of lanes for lap swimming in the big pool and a wide play area during the holidays.

Fantastic experience: As I only use the pool, I can only give you a review on that part of the aquatic and sports centre. Saying that, from the moment you walk in the door, everyone is genuinely happy to see you. It doesn’t matter if you’re a member of the centre or a visitor to the area, you’re welcomed and helped if needed by all staff. They carry a good range of swimming equipment, even swim suits for all ages and genders. The lifeguards are amazing, true to their profession, they have their eyes on everyone all the time, it doesn’t matter if you’re in the water, or watching, the lifeguards know exactly where you are and what you’re doing. There are plenty of lifeguards on duty all day long. If you didn’t see one of them making eye contact with you the moment you walk through the doors, they will acknowledge you while you’re in the pool or on a chair. I have even been lucky enough to have a number of lifeguards assist me in my antiquated technique, which has made swimming a lot more enjoyable. The pool is at a nice temperature, well I like it, it’s clean, and they have great amenities including lockers and a quick rinse off area so you don’t have to have a full shower before you leave. It has an awesome area for the wee ones, and of course plenty of lanes available for those who swim laps regularly to folks doing their aqua exercise and others who are just starting to get comfortable in and around water. I can honestly say that everyone that I have met at the centre, from staff, fellow swimmers, parents sitting on the chairs while their kids do lessons have are all very friendly and respectful. I can genuinely say you will have plenty of fun, feel great and safe the entire time you here. Added bonus, there is a great little cafe in the centre that makes the best coffee on OG.

Negative experience: on line booking system is difficult to use !! But the staff are lovely & helpful. Needs more aqua aerobics classes as ones avaliable book out.

Fantastic experience: We are older with injuries the pool has wonderful access with a ramp leading into the pool. Always very clean and tidy. Lovely friendly staff. Easy parking ☺️

Fantastic experience: My children do their swimming lessons here, and the swim teachers are fantastic. My youngest is autistic and they provide a one on one swimming lessons for him so he doesn't get overwhelmed. The venue is always clean and well supervised by lifeguards. The kiosk has a great range of foods to choose from, too.

Negative experience: Disappointed. My 5 year old son with his support worker visited today. They were over charged. $15 for entry but on the website 5 and under are free, the support worker should have been $8.50. Even when they were told that they had charged incorrectly. My son is special needs. He was climbing on the metal framework that led down the ramp into the water. As they were about to go swim. She was doing her best to keep him regulated and keep herself safe. They were constantly approached by staff telling her to keep him behaved, when she explained he had a disability they were not understanding at all. At one point telling my son's support worker to control her son. Really disappointed. May have been a bad day for staff.

Negative experience: Not quite up there in comparison to other council gyms in Victoria and given the Bellarine is growing rapidly, the council need to improve the shower facilities get more instructors in for classes rather than virtual and increase the water aerobic classes seems they cannot have too many participants in the pool.

Positive experience: No driving pool or water slide to be added at a later date

Positive experience: Lovely staff. Always clean. However disappointing that the cafe is closed on Sundays as it's always nice to enjoy a coffee while the kids swim. Futhermore, there isn't the option to purchase any water or food behind the front desk; you get directed to the vending machines that don't work. Water fountain is the only option if you come unprepared like me with kids. Having food and drink options would be nice.

Positive experience: Three pools, to include baby & toddler. baby & Toddler has a waterslide. Adequate shower/toilet facilities. The shower space is quite small. Friendly team. Cafe and gym on premises. Surprisingly, given the grounds around and space, there is no hydropool. Ample carparking. There is wheelchair access

Positive experience: This is a great swimming pool for the whole family. The kids really enjoyed the splash park/ playground area. They also enjoyed the pools and they weren’t too deep and they could stand in them. The Kiosk is affordable and the food was nice.

Positive experience: Options are endless. 3 pools to choose from. Lap pool (1.6m) is setup for lessons for most days from 9-12:30pm with a couple of lanes open for use. Shallow pool 1m-1.2 is busy for the mornings as well with lessons and baby groups. Play pools x2. Including shallow water play around a play set. Lots of options but also lots of kids during the mornings. Lifeguards are their but not very vigilant. Careful in the water. Lots of baby’s and young bubs with poopy pants. Watched 2 families ignore the dirty diapers and didn’t pull the kids out. Cafe, basketball fitness center. The sports center has it all and you can enjoy it most days but be ready for crowds.

Positive experience: 5 stars for Shannon's Aerobic Step Classes, she is a great instructor with fun and energetic sessions! Centre is getting busier with increased population, I would love to see a better offering of instructor lead classes on a Tuesday & Thursday evening, often find myself at an alternative centre due to the lack of available options in OG.

Positive experience: Very nice clean pools there are around 5 lap lanes altogether 2 normal then a slow medium and fast. There’s a public area and a pool for your little ones along with a water playground. Recommend eating at the cafe

Negative experience: The pools are great, the life guards are terrible. I have a 1 year old and 6 year old girl. We where told off 5 times in an hour for minimal reasons. I'll try another pool next time.

Positive experience: After rejoining to do aqua aerobics after the pandemic closures I am very disappointed that twice lately I drove the 25mins it takes me to get to the pool to be told the class has been cancelled. Surely in this day and age it would be possible to send a group text to people who are regulars?

Positive experience: Great place to bring young kids! The playground was great fun, spending a good hour or so playing around with our two toddlers. The only negative I have is the lack of showers for families. Although they have a 'family change room', it has no showers.

Positive experience: Good facility but make sure you update Google opening hours. Turned up at 5pm coming from Barwon Heads on a Sunday thinking I had an hour for a swim but centre was closed.

Positive experience: Friendly and supportive staff. Some patrons got to be more patience sharing facilities with people with disabilities.

Negative experience: Felt very at edge about everything we have done. It is ok to inforce rules but when i was there with my neice, sister, daughter and mother we got told off for trying to teach her how to swim and they said that only the instructors were able to do those things. Felt very restricted in thing we could do.

Positive experience: I have enjoyed and liked everything about Bellarine aquatic and sports centre Ocean Grove until recently. I’m a nanny and have taken children to this pool over many years, having no problems until now, now that I am working with an ethnic family. There is an older female life guard that continually comes up to me and the kids telling us off on every single thing, this happening throughout the whole time we are at the pool. At first I thought nothing of it but when it became a weekly thing of this behaviour, it turning our pool experience into something awful and also soon noticing that other families were not being watched as much as we were or even being pulled up a quarter of the time for doing the same things we were being pulled up for (with that myself paying constant attention to the kids I’m caring for, whilst many other parents completely lacking in this and getting away with it ), had me thinking that this lady either has something against this family or is a racist. I don’t like to complain or pull the racism card often, but it has gotten to a point that I might soon take it to the managers if it continues.

Positive experience: Great place! Just needs more family bathrooms... mum of 3 boys and the minute they turn 7 they are no longer allowed in the female change rooms with me... leaving us with one family change room with shower that's always being used by people in the same situation..
