Our comment from FitFit Australia about Waterworld Leisure Centre:
Waterworld Leisure Centre in Geelong is a fantastic facility catering to all ages and swimming abilities. Users praise the friendly staff and 10/10 facilities that ensure a great experience for families, especially with children enjoying the exciting water slides and swimming lessons. Many visitors express their enjoyment of the pool and surrounding amenities, remarking on the cleanliness and great customer service.
However, some concerns have been raised regarding noise levels, especially when the splash park is operational, with users noting that it can be quite loud, which may make it difficult for children to concentrate during swimming lessons. Additionally, certain facilities, such as the change rooms, are described as really small and lacking proper seating options. Feedback regarding the management and customer service experience has been mixed, with some users encountering challenges in communication and access.
Overall, Waterworld Leisure Centre is highly recommended for families looking for a comprehensive aquatic experience, though improvements in noise reduction and customer service could greatly enhance the visitor experience.

Waterworld Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Why no 50m pool with starting blocks
Fantastic experience: Love this pool. I travel to Geelong every 2 weeks and always use the pool. The facilities are 10/10. I wish al other pools were as good as this one
Fantastic experience: Great for a late night paddle
Fantastic experience: Great set up. Suitable for all ages. The big slides are a hit for my 9yo and 13yo
Positive experience: Good facilities but it is SO LOUD when the splash park is running! My kids have swimming lessons here and I literally have to bring earplugs with me because of the noise. It's a huge tin shed that echo's and amplifies the noise of the splash park. They need to install sound absorbing / dampening to reduce the noise inside the pool. The industrial noise pollution should be a serious OH&S concern to the operators of the pool. I could see a lot of lawsuits in the future for staff who suffer hearing loss caused by the damage to their ears from the constant noise when the splash park is running. Apart from the noise, it's a great facility and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our kids swimming teacher (Alex) is great.
Negative experience: Charge full price entry but don’t tell you that the pool is closed? Had about half of the spa open…
Fantastic experience: They do have a gym and swimming pools. They also offer swimming lessons. Great place.
Negative experience: Seem like the kids or adults like to poo in the pools. I have also seen poo smeared down the walls in the change rooms
Fantastic experience: Grandkids really enjoyed both the water slides & want to come back next school holidays.
Fantastic experience: Fully renovated Staff were very very helpfull
Negative experience: Facilities are amazing, but the customer service is terrible. Joined the full member access membership. Everyone tells you different information. Eg. You can join and start payment at a later date, then told you can’t, they couldn’t give me an access card or wrist band because they ran out, so I went there a week later and asked for a wrist band instead, as they had a box full I could see from the desk, they said they couldn’t give me one without an access card. I pretty much demanded one as I’m paying full access, so I paid the extra $5 for it. Phoned the Center many times and can’t get through, classes are booked out. It’s ridiculous. Get it right! I’m hoping to hear from management about threes issues. I’m also thinking of already cancelling my membership.
Negative experience: New pool opened Feb 2024. It's smaller than the previous pool 'Waterworld'. Less swim/walk lanes and the change rooms are tiny, with weirdly timed showers. No outdoor swim facilities anymore, despite request from community. Sad. The Wellness area is good, now the steam room and sauna are back. *Many photos above are from the old pool.
Positive experience: Pools are good- change rooms are the smallest I’ve ever seen!! No room to get changed!! A man must’ve designed this
Fantastic experience: Lovely new facilities and friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Always friendly staff Lots of parking. Great facilities
Positive experience: Nice staff, great facilities. Only reason for 3 stars is due to nearly $10 per person for the water slide.
Negative experience: No proper seating. Only 1 baby or family bathroom. Other bathrooms are so small with some of them having cold and some of them with very hot water. Touch sensers to turn on the showers and taps u cant turn it off. Whole area is very hot no way to get fresh air.
Fantastic experience: Cant wait to use our membership
Positive experience: Cold showers and limited seats/benches for sitting or bags whilst dressing. No outdoor pool for hot days. Very warm inside so do not recommend going today when outside temperature is expected to be 39c.For a new build it is disappointing.
Fantastic experience: Good swimming pool.
Fantastic experience: I found it very lovely day
Positive experience: Kids swim classes are very well run
Fantastic experience: Enjoy pool/ gym classes / good range of group exercise sessions
Fantastic experience: Wonderful facilities and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Staff friendly. All neat tidy and clean.
Positive experience: Amazing - what a well organised and fun place for children.
Positive experience: Good local pool. Can get quite busy at times.
Fantastic experience: Love this place I do swimming there and the food there is good
Fantastic experience: My kid goes swimming here each week. Great teachers.
Fantastic experience: Plenty of parking , fun for kids , loved idea of swimming accessories to shop and cafe
Positive experience: Been going there often recently and it's been pretty great, wide variety of programs to get into. It can get a bit stuffy inside sometimes though and the spa stops working quite a few times.
Fantastic experience: The origins of WW go back over 50 years to when it was just 3 pools. It currently stands as one of five municipal aquatic centres in the Geelong City area but only three of them offer the full spread of water and general fitness, Water World Leisure Link and Splash Down Over the years WW has been, renovated, covered, updated, added to and resurfaced to become the impressive complex it is today. A NEW complex is currently being constructed adjacent to the existing centre but it is to the existing centre which this review is written. Historically there have been copious levels of parking shared by WW and the Library. Since the construction of the new medical centre and the covid testing drive through centre parking has become more problematic. The focal point to the whole centre is the massive and now somewhat iconic blue and while dome type cover which encapsulates the 50m pool and 5 to 10 metres completely around it. The centre offers areas for lap swimming although this seems to been reducing over time in preference to the more profitable group swimming classes. This is not a criticism but rather an observation. The original 50m pool has been divided with a walkway (for staff) across the middle. This allows for greater flexibility, greater pool perimeter for coaches and the ability to access normally inaccessible areas of the pool for teaching purposes. All of these changes have enabled more to be done in the same area of pool. One downside to the greater number of participants is the requisite increase in noise. When the dome was first constructed little attention seemed to be given to noise and humidity. Subsequent upgrades have certainly tried to address these issues; the humidity problem now seems less of a problem but it is still very noisy. Within the pool area there is a spa and sauna. The spa is effectively part of the pool proper but presumably with a separate water circulation and filtration system but that is only my guess. The water itself is only marginally warmer than the pool and for this user the temperature is certainly lower than I would like. The sauna is big enough and hot enough and is adjacent to a cold shower. My biggest complaint is having to listen to other peoples’ conversation where they endure for the duration of the sauna…but overall a good sauna. Before lap swimming was squeezed out, well OK it hasn’t gone but it’s different, I swam laps, but now I use the gym. The gym is spacious and modern with lots of cardio machines, bikes, elliptical runners, stair climbers and of course treadmills galore. Free weights abound as do machine and work centres. Down a small ramp takes you to an exercise and stretching area or alternatively you can go upstairs with more space and equipment. On a different level again there is a large group exercise room where members can participate or not at their discretion. Non Members may also join classes for a fee but it’s a no brainer to become a member if group work is your thing. The gym is excellent, modern and accessible from about 6:30am to about 9pm but I am not too sure on the exact times. The staff is pleasant and helpful without hovering. I have had occasion to ask some significant favours of this management and they have always been extremely supportive. I have also had the need to use the centre for post surgery rehab. On this issue I had reason to write to the centre congratulating them for their wonderful support and specifically one staff member who went above and beyond to help me. There is also a spin room which can also be accessed in non class time. The centre also houses a small kiosk for drinks and snacks as well as a well functioning child care centre. Change rooms are clean spacious and functional with showers that finally (after about 20 years) have appropriate temperature control.
Negative experience: THIS A ZERO STAR REVIEW!! (wouldn't let me post with picking at least 1 star, I have nothing positive to say about this place!) Apparently this is a great place, as long as you are NOT DISABLED, or physically impaired in anyway, membership or not, the lack of consideration for disability in this place is pathetic, when a carer has to DRAG the client to get to the wall on and off for 5 months, because the hoist isnt working, ends up getting scratches and grazes, not to mention OH&S He rings the night before to see if hoist is working, yep no worries, gets there the next morning, the hoist isn't working, the staff are bloody useless too, no communication between them when the schools are there he can't even get in the pool, The organisation of swim school, water exercises, needs to be better planned to accommodate everyone, but no, they take priority over everything else, Never will I recommend a client to water world, able bodied or not
Positive experience: Great facilities but gets very crowded on warm days like any other place with water
Fantastic experience: Speedy entry, lovely staff. Great showers & change rooms. Short distance indoor pools catering for lessons, lap swimmers and “public” (general swimming about) as well as smaller children. Fountain/splash playground, outdoor grassed area & what might be an outdoor dive pool. (I just looked from a distance) Plenty of free parking.
Positive experience: We do swimming lessons here. It's great for skill building but very noisy and busy and therefore often difficult to hear and for children to concentrate. Facilities are pretty average but the staff are friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and teachers. Our favorite teachers are Alex, Vicky, Zac, Yvette... They are so nice and patient with the kids. One time, when there was an incident that people had to be pulled out of the pool. I witnessed one of the teachers spend his time explaining to his kids how to use those rescue gadgets instead of standing idly by the pool.
Negative experience: Swimming lessons here are fantastic! Only problem is the baby swimming lessons are in the cold pool and they won't do anything about it! When littles ones are shaking or going blue. Tried talking to them to put it in the warmer pool but they won't have a bar of it or make up excuses!
Positive experience: A1
Fantastic experience: Love the pool and spa
Fantastic experience: Good gym and swimming pool
Negative experience: Pool seemed dirty
Fantastic experience: Always friendly staff are wonderful
Positive experience: Very clean and staff were great

Positive experience: Lovely warm rehab pool. Hours have changed due to pool upgrades. Great Fri Pilates class
Fantastic experience: It a great place to relax and unwind,! And the membership,! Covers all the over Geelong pools and gyms regional area,! From here to Warn Ponds to Ocean grove,! So the membership,! It great mate,!
Positive experience: Gym is great, but would recommend if they open up bit early at 5 AM and close a bit later around 9PM or 10PM
Positive experience: I enjoyed my swim, really was hoping for a warn water pool for some gentle exercise. The spa is nice and big buy because it connects to the pool it is not warm as a spa should be.
Fantastic experience: My 5 stars go to Jayde who is an instructor at webstars swim school. In one class she was able to get my child to not only participate in the class but to actually jump in the water. No one else could do this in close to 2 months, or really showed any interest in trying to help. He used to scream and near hyperventilate when getting in the water. If it wasn’t for Jayde we wouldn’t be there anymore! I can’t express how thankful I am for all her help and understanding.
Fantastic experience: Done deep aqua aerobics Great instructor, excellent workout
Fantastic experience: My kids do swimming lessons they're very happy.
Fantastic experience: Great pool & Gym got everything you need
Fantastic experience: Easy to find, either ring road or through town and up melb Rd, lots of parking, disabled parking and ramp, usually quiet and on time, amenities available. The inky thing I don't like is the very strong green theme lol.
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool place and cafe's great too :) friendly and helpful staff

Positive experience: Great pool. Staff helpful and friendly. Geelong council have moved the disabled car parks and replaced them with bus parking for school children. Disability taxis are allowed to park in the bus zone to drop off passengers. New pool will be amazing.
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Fantastic experience: Stunning
Positive experience: Great place for a swim
Negative experience: Not there anymore
Fantastic experience: Best covid testing in Vic!
Positive experience: Friendly staff but Too HOT !!!
Positive experience: Good structure for leisure and nice staff.
Negative experience: This score has nothing to do with the great staff that work here let me make that clear. The public area is to small for the children to play in,each week this could change staff work under difficult circumstances feel paying the same to use this facility as you pay to use waurn ponds and other council run pools is not helping.Great place for you and you toddler awsome for swimming lessons.
Negative experience: Member over decade but with ever increasing fees and cold spas and cancell a tions i requested refund and to collect gym plan originally keep at home from my physio but recently tweaked there. Told they now own it by Liz. Went today 1st day open and it already removed. Mean spirited as they will only discard. This is my experience. Now unable to d o my plan at home hence half star in my view actually no wonder patrons dropping off!
Negative experience: Unfortunately today one of the water world staff was so rude and unrespectfull with me. Yesterday morning I went to take a membership as I had with my children before also membership with water world. Yesterday all the staff was so nice. They gave me the form to feel and return today. When I went today their staff were changed. One of thier staff behaviour was so poor, rude and unrespectfull. I have the form of membership. And asked how I can pay you now for the first month. She said that I need to take from your account. I said, at the moment I don't have money in my account. For the first month I pay you cash and from next month you can take from my account. She did not accept. Then I said ok you can take your money for the first next week on Tuesday then. She also did not accept that. And didn't let me go to swim today. She said that I need to pay for today cash. I said why I should pay cash for today? When I am already ready for the whole month cash as a member, but you don't accept. But for just today how you tell me to pay you cash. At the end she nether accept to I pay cash for the first month and nether let me to swim. She said I have to pay for today to swim. And she also didn't accept to take from my account next week. I said to her please put the membership date from today and take money from my account next week or I pay you cash now for this month. But she didn't accept any one of them. She was so rude. Then I came back home. I request from the menagement of water world. Please arrange in the reception any other person to be respectful and handle and cooperate with the customer and member. It was so strassfull for me this morning as I wake up to go and swim to have a membership. But it was disappointing for me.

Fantastic experience: Nice pools.. Great spa
Fantastic experience: Cheap swim lessons with friendly knowledgeable staff
Negative experience: Too much chlorine ruined my hair made it all tangled frizzy and knotty I will never go there ever again
Negative experience: Over priced, pittyfull gym, the pool is only 25 metre in summer access is limited because swim team take up most of the pool during the early morning during summer the noise is unbearable with screaming children at no time have I found water world an enjoyable experience for a council run opperation it has the most expensive membership in the region.
