Gold's Gym Toowoomba

Negative experience: Gym is definitely top of the line for equipment and knowledgeable staff, however is overcrowded and unpleasant to work out in. I'm definitely leaving at end of my 12months (I'd be gone now but contract has such a large exit fee) extremely disappointing service.

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with Gold’s Gym Toowoomba and feel compelled to warn other parents. On 29 October 2025, my 16-year-old daughter attended this gym simply to look at the facilities. The manager, Sharon, allowed her to sign up to a membership without parental consent, despite my daughter being a minor. My daughter was pressured to proceed with registration even though she had no money and was under 18. Instead of contacting a parent or guardian, Sharon aencouraged her to find money elsewhere so she could sign up. When I later contacted Sharon directly, she threatened to send my daughter to debt collectors for missed payments. When I pointed out that my daughter was a minor, Sharon stated that my daughter was “listed as an adult on the system”, despite her correct date of birth being recorded. This indicates a complete failure to properly check age and identification. Gold’s Gym later confirmed in writing that the membership was cancelled immediately and that a full refund would be processed. Despite this, the gym continued to debit my daughter’s bank account multiple times after cancellation, causing her account to go into overdraft and resulting in bank fees. I have had to make repeated phone calls to staff who stated they did not know why the deductions were still occurring. This has caused unnecessary financial stress to a teenager and her family. This situation raises serious concerns about: • signing up minors without parental consent • high-pressure sales tactics • poor billing controls • lack of accountability once issues are raised Parents should be extremely cautious. This experience has been stressful, time-consuming, and completely avoidable. I would not recommend this gym to families or young people.

Fantastic experience: Such an amazing gym. Noah and the rest of the staff are always so welcoming, and I love that I’m greeted every time I walk in. The lighting and mirrors are perfect, and the whole place just feels comfortable compared to other gyms I’ve been to. The locker rooms are beautiful, and the smoothies are honestly so good.

Fantastic experience: I’m always looking forward to going to this gym! Always greeted at the door with a friendly smile and very polite staff. Every day that I come in I always feel welcomed and enjoy every minute that I spend in this gym. Definitely recommend for any newcomers or people who want to start out in their fitness journey!

Negative experience: My experience with this gym has been extremely disappointing and stressful. I emailed to cancel a no lock-in contract, but received no reply. Now they’ve claimed I’ve incurred a debt because they “didn’t receive” the email — even though I followed their process. As a result, my partner and I have had to pay for another month due to their poor communication and lack of follow-up. It’s completely unacceptable and feels like a money grab. To make matters worse, my partner was told he owed $700 for a contract he never signed. Despite repeatedly asking for proof of this supposed lock-in agreement, they failed to provide any evidence. He ended up paying $300 just to settle it so debt collectors wouldn’t be involved — which is unfair and unethical. The lack of transparency, communication, and accountability is appalling. It has caused unnecessary distress, and their behaviour comes across as both unprofessional and dishonest. What’s worse is that they still call asking for “feedback” on how to improve — yet clearly ignore ongoing complaints and make no genuine effort to fix their broken system. The staff are consistently unhelpful and condescending, and the entire environment feels unwelcoming. This gym operates more like a money-driven business than a place that values its members. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. I would strongly caution others before signing up.

Negative experience: While many may have good experiences with this gym, I believe that it is not suited to people over the age of say 55. I am in my seventies and have never used a gym. When I came to Gold's I was told I would have a personal trainer meet with me to give me a program to follow so I could do this on my own as I had never used any of the machines etc . Seven days after signing I still has not heard from Gold's or a trainer. They also did not disclose all costs and fees associated with the Agreement I signed (without reading - my bad). When I complained regarding the trainer and the fees, I was told that I signed it so it was set in concrete. However, the trainer I was told would contact me, was not even employed by Gold's Gym but was an outside independent trainer. No explanation was given for this. I was offered a week free and they would try to get a personal trainer to contact me as soon as possible. I never received "I'm sorry for this mix up or I'm sorry this has happened" I decided I did not trust them and returned with my letter of cancellation (it has to be in writing) only to be told they couldn't take it because you have to EMAIL letters of cancellation (it's in the tiny print at the bottom of the agreement, apparently). They wanted me to go back home, email the letter then either phone them and pay the fee over the phone OR drive back to the centre and pay. When I asked for written proof of cancellation and direct debit facilities, I was told that a manager does that and none were onsite. After the receptionist made a phone call, she returned and said she would accept my written cancellation without emailing but I would not received confirmation for 48hours. So I paid $250 cancellation fee (that they never told me about) plus the joining fee so Gold's Gym collected over $300 from me and I never touched a machine.

Negative experience: If you have kids don't send them to the creche here. My baby got sick most times we attended and once it was rsv, she could have died she was so ill. When I addressed this with the manager I asked how my husband and I could cancel our memberships and explained that we don't have time to attend since we are no longer comfortable sending our daughter to their creche. She told me there's no way to break a contract, and i must pay for the complete year. After I paid our whole year without attending, I went to cancel and was informed by another staff member I could have cancelled prior for only $200. Which would have saved us so much money. When I addressed this with the same manager she lied and said she didn't remember me or the situation i was referring to (which she later admitted she did) and came up with a whole bunch of poor excuses for her lies yet I still wasn't offered any compassionated at all. Plus, they kept charging us even after cancelling and we had to make them refund us. Unnecessarily awful customer service, I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone.

Negative experience: Staff for the first few months kept calling my mobile for no important reasons. Staff were unwelcoming on a couple of visits. Went to cancel and I got minimal information out of them. My "introduction" and PT lession because I knew some of the gym was none existent the staff more or less walked away.

Fantastic experience: I've been at Golds Gym Toowoomba since it opened and it has been fantastic! The equipment is top of the line and the energy in the classes is great. The friendly staff are always happy to help and chat.

(No gender neutral bathrooms available) and the staff members immediate response was you don’t need to get attitude with me Received a call from the gym stating they’ve never considered or had a complaint about gender neutral bathrooms and tried to encourage me to delete this review

Negative experience: Been trying to cancel my membership. The gym gave me the run around. The gym has a good set up. But during my time training there. I found the staff at the reception very unwelcoming every time I would enter the gym. I am not the only one who has noticed this. Staff at reception need to learn to be more polite. They also need to learn some manners. The management have had the disabled toilets blocked by gym equipment before. Which blocked the way for wheelchairs and wheelie walkers to use there facilities. This is not right.

Negative experience: I did not have a good experience at this gym. I felt very judged and not welcome. The facilities aren't great and there's not enough at the busy times. I decided to come outside of the peak times but the location of Gold's Gym is not in a safe neighborhood/suburb, I did not feel safe after hours at all.

Negative experience: Please heads up to anyone that is about to join the golds gym, staff careless , Their manger she is rude and fake as she looks when I joined the gym they didn’t tell me anything about any contract, they got me to sign the papers, when I tried to cancel my membership they were quick to say you have to pay $250 up front for cancelling and another additional payment of 30 days , They sweet talk you into joining and give you all time of the day but once they know your cancelling they are rude to your face, they don’t return your emails or phone calls, I been to many gyms in Toowoomba I have never been so disrespected, and disappointed, ONCE AGIN I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOLDS GYM,

Negative experience: These people reply to your email only if the payment fails! I've sent 2 emails last week about cancelling my membership no reply at all, they just drag as much as they can to earn money, I've been to 3 gyms so far when it comes to customer service this is the worst I could say.

Negative experience: Staff are not welcoming and there is a very cringy skinny, want-to-be tough guy vibe to the place. Just take your backwards cap off and concentrate on your lift, not your Instagram photo op.
