Negative experience: Supposedly “premium” (and more expensive) but less facilities than both Wynyard and my home gym at Frenchs Forest. Pretty, though.

Fantastic experience: Been here coming on a year and overall great gym. Pros - while not cheap is reasonable value for money considering location and services offered - Facilities are generally clean and well maintained - Staff are consistently capable and friendly - Convenient location in the Sydney financial district - Access to other branches particularly on weekends is useful Cons - Can be crowded during peak times - Facilities are more limited some other branches with pools and Spas. - Only open weekdays (although negated by access to other branches) Overall would recommend

Positive experience: Definitely the more premium of the chain gyms in australia (price reflects it), but not amazing quality. Gyms, especially bligh, are extremely overcrowded. They’re constantly raising prices and closing gyms. Adding “renovations” which end up being a 2-person occupancy sauna and a cold plunge which never functions. classes are pretty good, staff is always friendly. Though i have often heard some of the trainers openly recommending steroids to their clients on the gym floor.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training at Virgin Active Bligh Street, and it has been a great experience. My personal trainer, Patrick, is highly knowledgeable, patient, and skilled at designing effective workout plans tailored to my body and fitness goals. His guidance has been invaluable, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional and supportive trainer. The gym itself is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with high-quality facilities. The staff are always friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The only stuff is that the gym has been quite popular lately, so planning workouts at the right time is helpful. Overall, a fantastic place to train—highly recommended!

Negative experience: Predatory business. Stay far away. They try to pass themselves off as a premium gym, and charge like they are one. But in reality it is dirty and extremely overcrowded. The boxing gloves are disintegrating and unusable. Good luck getting an open shower. And if you are lucky enough to get one, good luck getting hot water. Ever since Virgin closed the Wynyard location, everything has fallen apart from overuse. I tried to bring my concerns to management but they are completely unwilling to address these issues or make any improvements to this complete disaster of a gym. Also keeping everyone locked in contracts even though virgin broke the terms and conditions during the closing of Wynyard. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.

Negative experience: Beware of VirginActive CBD Gyms - until this matter is resolved My partner has been a member for about 6 months joining Bligh St to gain access to 3 gyms in the CBD. The facilities are good and the classes are well... OK. It has come to my attention that they are closing one of their gyms due to "refurbishing" of the location. this was done with very little warning and has reduced her choice of facilities & classes in the CBD by 1/3. She was not informed of this when she signed up for a 12 month contract 8 months ago of this impending reduction in services. In asking them for either a 1/3 discount or cancellation of her membership she was tole that that was not possible without significant penalty, as the closing of the Gym was out of their control. This I find very hard to believe as I am sure that they were aware of the possibility and if the Builder/Landlord broke their lease they would surley have received SIGNIFICANT compensation. If they are enforcing their membership agreement under these conditions, I would suggest that a complaint to Fair trading may result in an equitable settlement.

Fantastic experience: I've had an amazing experience at V.A Bligh St! The facilities are always clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need for a great workout. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making it easy to feel comfortable from day one. A special shoutout to my personal trainer, Patrick! He’s incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and really tailors each session to my fitness goals. Overall, a fantastic gym with top-notch trainers!

Lovely staff, multiple & varied classes All day, excellent gym floor, fantastic GRID room, enormous change rooms, easy to use lockers, lots of showers well stocked with a variety of skin & hair products: lots of Dysons for hair, plus an in-house café (& Very good ☕️)

Negative experience: There is not enough and good variety of gym equipment in this gym!!! 5-6 treadmills and lots of equipment for cardio ( many bikes and ellipticals,…) But no equipment for women who like to work on their legs and glutes like smith machine , leg press, Inner / Outer Thigh Machines, Seated Leg Curl, multi hip, prone leg curl, super squat machine!! There are three power racks, why they don’t change one of them to smith machine?

Fantastic experience: 5 years has flown by (apart from that weird Covid bit, haha) Loving it more than ever! The longest I've ever stayed a member of a gym! 50, feeling like 35 (the Boditrax machine doesn't lie ) Boutique feel with amazing instructors and the best facilities. Great choice of classes to vary your workouts ️‍♂️‍♂️

Fantastic experience: Very good layout without looking so cluttered and compact. Class sizes are capped which is good if you don't want to be overwhelmed. I'm using this club mostly for classes like HIIT and yoga with occasional weightlifting in gym floor afterwards. The gym is not as big as Pitt St but does the job for a quick session to complement classes.

Positive experience: Amazing gym, highly motivated fitness instructors and clean locker rooms, but one of your door staff is letting you down by being consistently rude. Fair enough if you’re not a morning person. It’s hard work getting started up but I am sitting in the cafe now (our third encounter) and was just given the death stare and a very snarky reply for enquiring about whether the cafe was open. What a very disappointing experience to have to close the week.

Fantastic experience: This is the newest Virgin Active gym in Sydney and the second gym in their Collection gyms. It is a bit more expensive at $45-60 per week depending on how long you sign up for. Everything is brand new and the club was beautifully made. As I walk through the hallways I feel like I am walking through a hotel. The new technology at this gym include the self cleaning boxing gloves and cycle shoes. The machine sprays antibacterial spray in them. This gym is best if you will make use of the classes. There's boxing, The Grid (circuit class), cycling, reformer pilates, and yoga. The trainers are nice and helpful. The gym equipmemt and machines are on levels 2 and 3 and there aren't that many so if you are going for weights and equipment, go to the Pitt St club. The showers are really nice and towels are included. They also have dyson hairdryers and GHD hair straighteners. They offer blow dry services on Thursday and Friday nights
