Fantastic experience: What makes Virgin Active Collins Street [VACS] such a superb and amazing gym isn't just one thing; it really hits the nail on the head in terms of getting all the important things done. What are those you may ask? 1) Equipment. You obviously go to the gym for a workout (duh!) and you can't fault VACS equipment wise- there's a huge range of equipment laid out even with the COVID-19 precautions they've taken and in all my years I've never had to wait for a single piece- hell there's very few occasions I've had anyone on the equipment next to me, which is quite nice as you can not get distracted and easily get into your zone. While I can easily say this in the point below; a huge shout out to Phil the guy who fixes stuff around the gym; the dude is ALWAYS doing something and anytime I've reported something broken it's fixed really quickly!! 2) Staff/Customer Service. There's a reason why I rank this so highly in the pyramid of success that VACS achieves it's because they achieve this quite efficiently and effortlessly. From the moment you step into the gym and meet any one of the fabulous and welcoming reception team (Hi Molly and Josh and Beth!!). you are welcomed like a friendly face and the reception team always seem to have the answer to any questions that you may have- I have yet to stump them! The personal trainers are all pretty amazing- for various reasons I've trained with a few of them either regularly or for one or two sessions and they are all brilliantly trained with a fantastic approach that I've always felt they're looking out for me and my fitness goals. A huge hat's off to the amazing Luke- if you're lucky to train with him you'll be amazed as he's just all kinds of amazing with a brilliant approach and is all about getting the best out of you. 3) Classes. The range of classes at VACS is amazing; if you just stick to classes you would easily get your money's worth soon enough as there's a huge ranger and variety that you can find something to suit your needs or try a new class to change things up. With the recent reopening since the COVID-19 inspired lock down it appears that VACS has taken the opportunity to rejig the class timetables; while the "big ticket" classes are still on the list; they've removed some and added some new ones. I think this is a great thing because it's always good to freshen up and give members the opportunity to experience new classes- having said that I still miss Anti-Gravity Yoga 4) Price. I have left this to last as it's a bit of an "issue". While the price is a bit costly; if you're using it consistently (I'm a city worker and I currently go seven days a week!), it's worth an investment. If you're looking at going take a tour and get a feel of it- hopefully you're lucky enough to get Fabian as he's knowledge is superb but any of the staff will be fine!- as that's really the only way to know if this gym is for you. As outlined above; VACS does the important things fantastically

Fantastic experience: I haven’t started yet, however what made me decide to make this review is the customer service there! I booked a tour as I wanted just to explore the gym and had no intentions to sign up immediately, but “Fabian” was extremely friendly! He is knowing what he doing and he explained everything to me in details and answered all of my inquiries. As a result to such great customer service, I did signed up and I’m very excited to go there. *I will update this review after using the gym for a week or so (: Update after 2 months: I always used to sign up in a gym and end up leaving within 2 weeks. However at Virgin Active I felt that there something positively different, I don’t know what is exactly but I love it :) , it has been 2 months now and I still go there at least 3-4 times a week. I’m really happy that I could do that and the results are great.

Fantastic experience: As a gym you won’t find better equipment or better-trained and nicer PTs. Great classes and a cheap towel service too! Lastly.. and the reason I’m leaving this review.. when I needed to quit (just for logistical reasons) the manager sat down with me perfectly politely and professionally and processed it no other questions asked, no trickery or extra expenses. That’s a massive difference to other experiences I’ve had. I wouldn’t hesitate to sign up again.

Fantastic experience: Very pricey, but a great place for group fitness. It's usually necessary to book groups ahead, but this is pretty easy through the portal. Great atmosphere and the spa/pool/sauna is fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Expensive but can't deny the facilities are second-to-none, so as long as you go a few times a week you get your money's worth. Classes are generally excellent, run by engaging, energetic instructors who know how to balance having fun and really pushing their class. Only complaint is that the men's toilets can be a tad grotty at times, and the music is generally awful - but that's just pop music nowadays. Overall a great gym that offers a tremendous variety of ways to work out as well as unwind.

Fantastic experience: Great equipment, and everything well maintained. It has a climbing wall, which is a great touch (Bourke St wall is better though ). Loads of classes with a lot of variety and good instructors. Change rooms and classes can get busy but I've never had any problems getting access (I'm pretty regular, 5-6 days a week).

Fantastic experience: Visited here multiple times whilst holidaying in the city, using PAYG. Google's "busy times" are accurate. Gym feels new, clean with plenty of equipment - lots of squat racks and benches - more than my London clubs. Average gym goer is friendly too (not that Virgin can influence that). Really like it

Really hard to find a good gym where is really suit for me and it is really annoying. I just miss their variety of classes and pool ...... i think i should go back to live in city sooner!

Fantastic experience: Great gym.. very spacious.. all equipment new and modern. Loads of classes . Enough free weights , multiple squad racks. No need for padlock, towels are provide. Very clean change rooms. The trainer : Jacinto is the best!!

Morgen, you’ve restored my faith in health clubs, one of the best personal trainers I have met in my life, you’re invaluable for this business, you’re a legend. Fantastic experience: Fantastic customer service! Sophia (Or Sophie? Sorry can’t remember!) was extremely helpful when I came in for the first time. Gave a very extensive run down of the facility and was extremely positive and a pleasure to interact with. The staff are a real asset to an already impressive place!

Fantastic experience: I love going here. Staff are fantastic, amazing cardio and weight equipment. Unfortunately I do not do classes here as they finish before I get there but my wife raves on about their pilates classes. The higher price ensures less crowding though still expect it to be busy during peak times. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Wow!!! What an amazing experience. A casual visit is $40 & worth every cent. I have been to Virgin Active at Zetland (Moore Park) NSW several times & while that gym is incredible this gym is way more impressive. Firstly, the reception staff member that greeted me, Ake, was very friendly & welcoming & took the time to chat, explain where the male toilets were, how to use the lockers & offered me a complementary towel. I ran into her later as she was doing a PT session & she smiled & waved to me & offered some kind, thoughtful, caring & encouraging words...Excellent customer service. Zetland is hit & miss - sometimes it’s excellent & sometimes you can’t complain about the customer service because there isn’t any. I was impressed with the PT, Kirby, who made it possible for me to join her Grid class. I found her very friendly, personable & her positive energy inspiring & motivating. The 4 members that I trained with in the grid class were very helpful, encouraging & friendly... I enjoyed the frequent high fives & the way everyone took the time & opportunity to offer praise to each other. I have to mention that the saunas at Virgin Active are the best I’ve ever encountered - even when a Wally holds the door open for ages it still manages to maintain the heat. The spa is massive & has a “hurricane” section which gives an intense lower leg & foot massage. Lastly, as I was leaving I found the reception staff to be very helpful, warm & friendly. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Melbourne for sure. Cheers.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for about a year now. VA Collins is always clean, friendly, and a great place to get a workout in. Several reviews claim that it's overly busy... I've yet to experience this and I've never had trouble using any equipment (even during peak hours). PT's are great, locker rooms are nice, everything is overall great. The only downside I can think of is paying for towels... It's a little ridiculous to pay for towels at gym you're paying premium membership for--Never seen that before at any gym I've been a part of.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, friendly staff, great PTs, opening hours are perfect for schedule. Thank you to the VA team for your help when I was recovering from injury. I did not have to take anytime off from the gym because they were able to work with me for a plan to full recovery. Did not have to see a physiotherapist, as I rehabbed just as fast (plus, my PT was a trained physio).

With their guidance and encouragement, I have been able to achieve unbelievable gains with my fitness. Everything is always spotlessly clean and very well run.
