Negative experience: Lucky if the splash area or the climbing frame is ever up and running - either under maintenance or not staffed. Can't have more than 4 children with you, even if they are 12 and confident swimmers. Have been told to stand within arms reach at all times of confident 12 year old swimmers while the lifeguard goes off to stand at the other side of the pool where there are 0 swimmers. Not enough shade or seating facilities around pool. Could go on and on. Such a shame after they've spent so much money on the 'upgrade'.

Fantastic experience: The SWELL is a perfect place in Palmerston. You have excellent facilities, a great 50m pool, 25m heated pool for Non-swimmers, Baby water area. Everything is clean. It's so good to have since it's free too.

Negative experience: Pool was closed due to lightening in the middle of my swim. I asked the staff member that I be allowed to swim back to my shoes at the other end of the pool as I have orthopaedic shoes and struggle to walk without them. No, I must get out now and walk round. No, they can’t fetch my shoes. So I hobble in pain the 50m to get my shoes, which of course takes so long that the pool area is cleared of most people. I sit down to put my shoes on and get told by a different staff member I need to leave the pool area. I explain again that I need to put my shoes on and just get told to move now. So again I hobble across the centre. This all took a hell of a lot longer for me to get undercover than if I’d just been accommodated as requested in the first place. Please do better PS please put hours of operation properly displayed on your website, like others have said, or at least answer the phone occasionally so I can ask

Negative experience: Just to start off, I've had a pleasant experience talking to staff and attending Swell for over a year now, which makes this all the more disappointing. Ever since you have reopened last year, the site and google shows that the pool is open until 9pm. I have verbally been told that the pool closes half an hour earlier but that facilities do not shut down until the displayed time on your site and google. This is what I have been told in my 1+ year of attending Swell. On Friday 14/3/2025 I was out of the pool by 8:30pm, left the bathroom after changing by 8:40. Then I was walking near the lockers waiting to be picked up by my father. The duty manager OJ approached me and told me that I need to leave the facilities and go outside. I've been going to swell for well over a year now and not once have I been told to leave the premises (the pool, yes half an hour earlier than advertised, not the premises though) OJ told me again that I needed to wait outside. When I told him I was waiting for my ride he relented and changed his statement to, okay just wait near the waiting area. Since I've never been told this before and it has never been advertised anywhere on the facilities or on your site/online I was a bit bewildered and asked out of curiosity if that was company policy? OJ said that the pool closes at 8:30pm, okay I know that. I asked about the facilities itself/waiting outside the pool before the actual advertised closing time which I've seen many other customers do and never once has a staff member asked them to leave in the last year. After further inquiry OJ became very passive aggressive and dismissive of my inquiry, I reassured him and the others that I am simply frustrated with the miscommunication and lack of advertising/informing of actual company policy regarding the facilities and closing times. OJ then very rudely stated that he already told me to leave and that the pool closes at 8:30pm, I already know this, I wasn't confused about the bloody pool closing, I was wondering why I was asked to leave the facilities and wait outside to be picked up when this has never once happened before and I and other customers have been allowed to wait until the ACTUAL advertised closing time. OJ then said that he can't have me waiting near the desk and asked me to leave the facilities and go outside before 9pm because the employees count the money at the end of the day? What kind of logic is that? The other employees on duty told me that they understand, and that other customers have sent feedback about this, but failed to understand how my issue was not just with false advertising, it was with being asked to leave the facilities when all I was doing is waiting to be picked up BEFORE the advertising closing time and NOT once have I been told to leave for the last year by other staff. Never had to deal with disrespect from the staff at Swell until today either. OJ's behaviour was very childish and the junior employees behaviour was quite frustrating and dismissive, OJ was extremely passive aggressive and dismissive of my inquiry and concern and pushed me to a point of great frustration. While two other employees dismissively told me that they've had to wait outside after closing time. I very clearly communicated multiple times that my problem is not with waiting outside after closing time. It's with being told to wait outside and leave BEFORE closing time and then having to deal with a manager that can't admit that his behaviour was unprofessional and extremely rude. OJ also passive aggressively asked me if I'm going to remain here until closing and smiled when I asked him why he's being passive aggressive. What a nutter. I have never been more disappointed with the customer service and policy at Swell until today. Which is unfortunate because for over a year the staff have been nothing but polite and respectful and don't ask you to leave the waiting area until the actual bloody closing time. I'd like an apology from Swell and from OJ who needs to grow up. And for the love of god, CLEAR UP when you're closed!

Fantastic experience: The pool is great, I've always managed to find a free lane and there are always lifeguard patrolling. The gym reminds me a bit of a mining camp but has everything you need. The entry way could do with a minor clean up as there is usually trash in the garden. BUT, 5 stars to Daisy at reception. Debit Success were double charging me and wanted nothing to do with solving the issue. Daisy had the problem sorted and refund organised within the hour! LEGEND

Negative experience: Crap communication, difficult to work out how to book the high ropes course (confusing council website). We asked staff directly at the pool who were more helpful, however we finally make it to a session and the supervising staff stated there wasn't allowed to be any photos taken with the equipment. This was not mentioned in the app/website, by the front desk staff and there was no signage to say this, including on the rules list! Completely understand not taking photos of other people's children, but this felt extreme and unpleasant. (Plus other people in the session said it was the 6th time they'd done it and never been told that before!) Also the entire women's toilets had been hosed out, all the loo paper was wet, and there are no lockers available. Disappointed overall!

Fantastic experience: Perfect swimming spot any day everyday

Positive experience: It was good at the beginning when they just opened. But a year later, it's falling apart, bad contractors. The shower rooms can't be locked, one of the unisex shower has been 'out of order' for a couple of months. It's hard to take shower when there are more than 3 people taking shower at the same time. The ridiculous building regulation doesn't help as there are so many toilets, but not enough shower rooms. How many people would use the toilet at the same time vs taking shower at the same time? Staff are great, but not sure about the management as it's hard to organise an event with Belgravia Leisure, the management company. They didn't reply to enquiries, making it hard to book for an event. The choice of building an obstacle course wasn't well thought out. Each person needs to go through paperwork and briefing, essentially only a couple of people can use it in an hour. It's not inclusive and wasting space and resources. Other than that it's a functional place, a good oasis in the middle of Moulden with plenty of carpark.

Negative experience: I was told to leave because I had to many kids (twins) and I go to this pool alot of times before today

Fantastic experience: Love swimming in the open air. 2 pools - one 20m and the other 50m. Plus a children's water play area. Small pool is heated and not really deep, great for walking, exercising or just lolling around. 50m pool has 5 swimming lanes, is deep and quite busy. Lots of groups just enjoying the cooler water. Wear sunscreen at all times. There has been issues with the cleanliness of changerooms, but hopefully all sorted now. Whiteboard as you enter let's you know if different areas have been booked at different times during the day. Not much interaction with staff. Usually 2 life guards on duty. Best thing is it is FREE!! Well done Palmerston city council.

Fantastic experience: A Palmerston council incentive. 3 beautiful pools, 50m, 25m and baby pool with water toys and all covered with a beautiful tropical sunshade. Water quality is excellent. Modest cafe/drinks area and a fully fitted gym which unfortunately I didn't have time to checkout. Lifeguards vigilantly supervising all pools. And the best. It's free for Territorians until 2025.

Negative experience: Where would you like me to start? 1. The cleaner is worse than useless. I dont think she knows what a mop and bucket or scrubbing brush is. She hoses everything from the roof down including the toilet paper. 2. The heated pool has just been fixed but has been broken for about 10 weeks. Have given up my place in hydrotherapy because this was supposed to be heated. 3. After numerous requests for a clock we are still waiting. 4. Then Saturdays the supposedly heated pool is used for swimming lessons so us seniors cannot use it. Usually only about 10 kids. I will leave it at that but the list goes on. The only positive is the life guards are very helpful and friendly

Positive experience: Its a great pool, but it's maddening that they do not have lockers. Lockers are a staple and it's off putting not having them. Especially with the crime around the area.

Positive experience: Took the grandkids after school Thursday 8/2/24. Excellent facilities, staff were very helpful they even provided us a tour of the facilities. I took a packed snack basket not knowing what was on offer. Limited seating but plenty of grass to sit down picnic style. Lifeguards were excellent keeping an eye on any inappropriate behaviour (well done). Booked kids on to the rope climbing which was brilliant the staff were fabulous going through safety features etc, a definite must. Easy to book this online so no hassles when we got there. I will definitely be returning. Well done Palmerston City Council. Only suggestion would be a clock so anyone in pool who does not wear a watch knows what time it is. We were having so much fun in the big pool time got away from me :)

Positive experience: Great place to bring kids of all ages with lots of grassy areas and some shade. My one complaint is the sun sales don't provide UV cover so prepare to get sunburnt! Fun for all ages and amazing that it's free. A great option in the wet season heat.

Negative experience: Dissapointed with the lack of good customer service. Booked in for high ropes course at 11am for my kids. This was cancelled due to the weather however, this was not advised until we arrived. One of the staff said they are not allowed to communicate with people if the course is cancelled due to weather although they expect customers to notify if they cant make it to their booked course to allow other people to take the spot. Communication works both ways. Not a inviting experience to go back.

Positive experience: Perfect place for children 6 months to 6 years. Tonnes of shade. So no need to worry about getting burnt. Older children just had the lap pool.

But, who the heckidea was the wet cable play area, what a dissapoitment, kids waiting for a fun waterplay area, it not shaded up top it's not accessible, you need to book a week in advance to have a go and it's not fun looking it's challenging and scary for little kids, and a joke for the teenagers, Not 1 slide.Your staff will suffer from standing in the sun for long periods without shade, Can't do that in Darwin. Don't think you will make much on the climbing frame after 2026, interstate ideas don't work in Darwin

Negative experience: Very disappointed that you can't do bombs, diving or just jump in the pool!!! I understand running, flips but before the renovations you were allowed to do Bombs. Why the rule change?!?!

Positive experience: I was very excited when I find out it gonna be warm pool there but I didn’t find much warm when I visited there .It’s so disappointing. It would be nice if they heat the pool more. Overall other pool is good.

Fantastic experience: Swimming pool closed for major renovation. Supposed to reopen November 2023. Just a big 50 m hole for now. Many exciting aquatic things to come this time next year. The rest of the fitness centre is still open for business, with exercise equipment, tennis courts, yoga, Tai Chi, trainers etc. Great place to workout.
