Services, Machines and Guided Classes
Tobruk Memorial Pool: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Bellissima piscina, ottima per allenarsi
Fantastic experience: Beautiful, modern, very clean, and a 50 metre length lanes.
Fantastic experience: Great place for a dip !@!
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff that remember your name and order, plus they have a loyalty card that can earn you free coffees!
Negative experience: Would give a 0 star if I could. Come here on the 9/07/2025 During school holidays, first time ever at the pool, kids have anxiety issues unfort and due to it being so busy they did not want to swim here, asked for a refund, there was no sign to mention no refund issued. The clerk at the counter said I could only have a free pass. This is terrible service considering our economic times, and also the fact it is school holidays and times are tough. Shout out to management, if your not going to offer a refund when we have not used your service, put a sign up, this is terrible managements procedure's. Ill be ringing office of fair trading as well and placing a report. We will never go here again, also been a local for 41 years, ill be mentioning this around town and informing people as well about your lack of compassion for families and children. Thanks for nothing.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility's, the flow rider is great for all ages and our son has had 8 weeks of swimming lessons, and he has made huge progress would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: What an amazing looking venue, and the staff are super helpful! It’s a great facility and cafe!
Fantastic experience: Huge pool, very good prices. 7$ day pass 20$ weekly for the pools. Great changing rooms and showers
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Several outdoor pools.
Negative experience: A lot of money spent for my kid swimming class but not much of the instructor is experience, weekly payments is can be confused. They taking the money since the beginning but not even start the lesson yet. Even for the closing period for Christmas still fully paid for 6 week. Sadly, the staffs at front counter were lacking a lot of knowledge and they didn’t know what they are doing.
Negative experience: Very rude staff, instructors are not helpful, I’m taking out my daughter from swimming lessons, very disappointing &waist of money, do research parents before spend your money.
Fantastic experience: This is a great place to come and do some swimming and training. There is a very good training pool, wave body surfing pool and also a children's area. They have a jumping castle area as well which the kids love. It is just over $7 per day which makes it very affordable where is food for sale and also plenty of shelter.
Fantastic experience: Olympic pool, cheap entry, clean toilet and changing rooms, a shower with adjustable water temperature If I would live in Cairns I would come everyday.
Fantastic experience: Gran daughters had a lot of fun here, plus learning to swim
Fantastic experience: Good place to swim and nice staffs
Negative experience: Looks like a great well kept facility. Unfortunately jaf a bad experience. We were there for a day pass for the gym. We called ahead they told us they have day passes. Arrived was charged by the nice gentleman at the front desk. Went to the gym area was immediately stopped by the trainer stating that we can’t work out because they have a class going out and there’s no day passes during classes. It was a large facility and there was somebody else they’re working out that wasn’t in a class. He could’ve very easily, let us work out at least the one time, but instead, he was very, very rude and sent us back to the front desk and forced them to give us a refund. There are basically always classes. So you can only really work out between 10-4pm. Really bad experience.
Positive experience: Well maintained facilities and friendly staff. The site offers a range of activities including swimming lessons, water aerobics, underwater hockey, water polo and gym sessions while the main pool is a great place to swim laps. It can be busy on the weekend but doesn't feel crowded. The activities for children are suitable for a range of ages including flowrider/wave simulator, trampolines, inflatables and play equipment but are a little more basic than those on offer at other large public pools.
Fantastic experience: My daughter has Austim and we have been through a lot. As her mum I want her happy, content, comfortable and safe. Of course sometimes what brings those joys to her one day may not the next day. Some days we nail it, some days we bail it. Surprises aren’t our best friends and so planning becomes second nature. It works best for us if I can show Lilly what we are doing, where, when, what and how. Enter Cérge! Being able to show Lilly the Tobruk Memorial Pool before we arrived not only took some of my own mental load, it’s reduced anxiety for us both. We knew what the entrance looked like, we knew what the pool areas look liked, even the change rooms and they aren’t ever shown on websites. We spoke through the noises, the possible smells and the feelings when going swimming. Lilly was excited and so was I so off we went for our adventure. Using Cérge is like meal prep. It makes life so much easier for the rest of the day. My mental load is less, I can be more present as a mum. One thing that is hard in our situation is that I am in fight or flight and hyper alert, a lot. I worry about Lilly running off unexpectedly or what could happen. What could make the day take a downward turn for us. I feel guilty because I would love to be more “present” or “go with the flow” but that isn’t so easy for us. I must assess and plan for us to be able to even remotely “go with the flow”. Simple changes at places are massive changes for us. Tobruk pool adopting Cérge means we have access to so much information which literally means a day out is possibly and a good day is more likely. This is priceless. The people at the pool may not even ever know we have done our “homework” because we do this before attending. For them, we could be just another customer, for us they are a lifeline and so much more. I love that they have the Cérge app, it meant I could let them know we were coming and they welcomed us. The facilities are great and very clean. Lilly swam for much longer than expected and played with a blow up croc for ages. I felt my levels decrease. There was space between my breathing. There was space. There was a minute to watch my daughter happily play in the pool and I could be present. Presence, what a gift.
Fantastic experience: Legendary pool! great facilities with the wave pool and gym area.
Positive experience: I’ve been using this facility for 16 months for recovery and physiotherapy, gradually progressing from walking to swimming laps, eventually reaching 10 laps at a time, followed by rest and recovery. However, one day while swimming alongside another regular, a lifeguard informed me that I could no longer swim laps in the hydro pool. This came as a shock, as I had been doing so for over a year without any issues. After apologizing and stopping, I followed up with management, who confirmed that swimming laps was not permitted in the hydro pool. This sudden change was extremely frustrating, especially after such a long period of consistent use. I then requested to cancel my membership, which required another month's notice, meaning I had to pay for an extra month I couldn’t use the facility. Apart from this unfortunate experience, I would have rated the facility 5 stars. It’s a great place, but the lack of clear communication and the abrupt policy change left me disappointed. I was also disheartened that, due to circumstances beyond my control, they didn’t consider waiving the month’s cancellation notice. I can no longer swim here, and it’s a shame that the situation ended this way.
Positive experience: The Tobruk memorial pool was a great activity on the weekend especially in summer when it was hot and humid. The pool was clean and the area around the pool looked good aswell. There were 2 Main pools one smaller than the other, and there was swimming lessons and a play pool with water sprayers for kids, while there was a surfing machine for older kids and adults. A very nice thing to do on the weekend.
Negative experience: Usually not many lanes available to swim in. Everytime I go I feel awkward out of place. Even swimming in the slow lane the regular swimmers aren't very accommodating. Staff friendly and available though
Negative experience: We were not allowed to dive from diving blocks as 'we may damage them'!! Only one lane available in two pools for children to play in
Positive experience: Hydrotherapy at the heated pool is great for relieving sore muscles and joints. A pensioner charge of $5.10 is relatively expensive for limited incomes. Perhaps an application to the health dept of Queensland would make it more acceptable. That involvement would reduce health visits in Cairns.
Negative experience: Place stinks of piss, and they lied to us over the phone saying the flow rider was open and it wasn’t, until 4pm. Then we went in the pool and the workers shat in the pool and we had to evacuate wasting our money we sent on the pool. Then the toilets had shit all over the floors not allowing me to use the facilities.
Fantastic experience: Well shaded, clean pool, maintained surrounds & clean amenity block
Negative experience: Disappointing experience with swimming lessons for my daughter. Staff seems unhelpful and disorganized, prioritizing other children over others. Lack of attention and guidance hindered my child's progress.Would not recommend.Don Waste your money
Fantastic experience: Lovely Staff and great facilities. Clean scene!!!
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: Customer service was below average at the front counter. Staff member didn't listen and charged me wrong for the flow rider. Started our session - Lifeguard didn't go through any safety protocols. 5 minutes into the session I hit my face and split my eye on a board that someone left inside the surf area. Staff offered us free passes. No refund was offered.
Fantastic experience: Great pool. Plenty of lanes. Good watertemperature for a workout.
Fantastic experience: Clean pool with lots of space, feels brand new.
Fantastic experience: $4 to have a shower. Very clean and spacious facilities. Nice staff. Recommended if you're travelling and need a spruce-up.
Fantastic experience: Tobruk Memorial Pools is a fantastic facility for regular swimmers. The pools are well-maintained, offering a clean and refreshing environment. Whether you’re training, swimming laps, or just enjoying a leisurely swim, the atmosphere is always welcoming. The staff is friendly, and the amenities are excellent. I highly recommend Tobruk Memorial Pools for anyone looking for a great place to swim in Cairns.
Negative experience: Asked to use the toliet I would of been happy to pay entry to go toliet I'm not from the area and really needed to go the lady at reception told me to keep walking I'll find one it took me almost and hour of walking to find I would have been happy to pay 50 to use the toliet it's a public pool why e She would not let me pay to use the facilities then give me directions 20 minutes away to toliet that were locked I'm not long after surgery and this honestly was horrible
Fantastic experience: Who ever builds and creates an actual surf ranch and wave surf park in Cairns like the goldy will do very well I think! One thing the tropics here is lacking! Surf
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff! The toilets and swimming pools are clean. I'd love to come back!
Fantastic experience: Great pool and mew facilities.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility, 3 pools, heated to different levels. $7.50 entrance fee Excellently built and maintained facility
Fantastic experience: My favourite public pool in North queensland. Townsville Tabruk Pool is old school, looks beautiful.
Positive experience: 深さ2mの50mプールです。 滞在中何度か行きました。 南京錠は持って行った方が良いです。(ロッカーはあるけど鍵はないので)
Positive experience: It was pretty quiet this morning, which was good for me to do my exercise.
Positive experience: Coffee service slow but not too bad.
Fantastic experience: Best spot for a lap or two. Good staff and great kids programs. A gym and tramps for a fun day out along with a bookable inflatable obstacle course. Good for birthdays and end of year parties.
Fantastic experience: Been here a few times for the Flowrider surfing, so much fun!
Fantastic experience: Staff for super friendly, there is a heated pool 50 meter pool a third pool that I haven’t visited as yet as well as a wave rider. A fantastic council owned community swimming pool.
Fantastic experience: Great pool
Fantastic experience: 10 lane 50m pool - great
Fantastic experience: An amazing complex with very valuable lessons for babies and toddlers. Highly recommended!!
Positive experience: Fantastic place to swim, learn to swim.Ride Flow rider like Surfing. Go to Gym ,Trampoline or just chill and meet new people who are enjoying the facilities. Food available there too ,staff are great and lots of Group's to join if you want, Underwater Hockey,Triathlon Training, Trampoline ,Swimming lessons and Training, Gym Training and More. Go check out the Pool. Really good Place.
Fantastic experience: My family uses the facilities almost on a daily basis. 3 pools, waverider, gym, trampolines all maintained very well. A bit on the expensive side and can be frustrating when facilities are booked out for clubs, schools or events, but a good place to get in your exercise regime all the same.
Positive experience: Public pool. Decent facilities. Quick entry. LTS swim classes. Could do with some dry seating for non swimmers during rainy weather.
Fantastic experience: We use the Flowrider and heated pool usually in the late afternoon and evening. Both are great ways to exercise and have fun
Negative experience: When we submitted the application to the front desk, the staff said that the first two weeks were over, and then only the last two weeks were charged. As a result, we continued to charge for one month. The front desk and the handling of this matter were inconsistent. I was very confused .I feel sorry for their unprofessionalism
Fantastic experience: I love Tobruk pool. A beautiful Olympic sized lap pool, play areas for the kids and a nice atmosphere.
Positive experience: Communication is getting better about pool closures and maintenance. Pools have had a lot of big repairs lately so hopefully the closures will be a thing of the past. But nice place to visit do laps and spend time at the pool with kids. Warm water pool is great but need toilet and change/shower facilites closer to that area.
Positive experience: Wave pool is awesome, and good price too
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff, clean facilities thank u enjoyable day
Fantastic experience: Having a choice of pools to swim in is great. Live the toddler playground pool & the 25 metre pool.
Negative experience: I use the heated pool for aqua therapy There is a women who brings her speaker and plays her music I don’t go there to listen to music, and I should not have to listen to her music
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, very disability friendly & great staff. For the more energetic try the waverider.
Fantastic experience: The pool and staff are amazing. Super friendly staff. $6.90 AUD for a day pass. 50m pool was under construction but they have a 25m pool and theyre both covered (not entirely, but fairly covered). They also have a flow rider.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and great team for kids squads and training.
Fantastic experience: Clean and organized placed. Friendly staff. We love the splash splash class for baby.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant pool, parking is good. If you are going for a causal swim check times online first, you don't want to show up and 97% of the pools are all dedicated to lessons and training. Main pool is currently under maintenance, Oct 2023.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities and great staff
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool with great accessibility
Fantastic experience: Very clean centre, friendly staff and shop with outdoor area. Cheers Paul.
Fantastic experience: The best all abilities aquatic centre
Fantastic experience: Fantastic 50m outside pool shaded from the sun, deep throughout all its lengths, perfect temperature for training
Fantastic experience: Modern facilities. Good staff, shaded main pool and heated smaller pools. Trampolines and kids activities during holidays
Fantastic experience: Outstanding facility. Pools were excellent, clean and facility all around and the sports precinct itself was great.
Positive experience: Nearly there. I’ve swum here for over 30 years. The current management team are doing as good if not better job than past experiences. Well done to all.
Negative experience: Little man that works there made me pay 2 times on different occasions for a 3 year old who is actually free. I then called up and asked what the prices were for a 3 years old and he said they were free. Yet my partner came last week and they let them in for free… not adding up. Do we only have to pay for certain workers who feel like charging us or?? Fix this!
Positive experience: Most of the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Some could learn to smile more. It's a great facility. Really nice pool for laps.
Fantastic experience: Great facility. Good pools, clean modern changing rooms and showers. Undergoing some maintenance at present but with little disturbance to swimmers
Fantastic experience: Good facilities. Whole 50m pool is shaded so not burning to a crisp whilst getting laps in. Can get pretty busy with all lanes full at peak times. Good coffee and snacks post swim.
Fantastic experience: What a great pool! Well maintained facilities, and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Loved it. The water is AMAZINGLY clear. Can see the full 50m underwater without any hint of clouding. Best pool I've ever trained at. Perfect temp too so never feel hot when working hard
Fantastic experience: Fantastic 50 m and 25 m pool. Canteen on site
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The facilties are fantastic. I love going on the trampolines (even as an adult). They always have many different aqua activities going on which creates a really good community feel about the place. Very family friendly environment.
Fantastic experience: Great place for a refreshing swim or play with the family. They've got a large lap pool, a smaller lap pool, a heated pool and even a flow rider for the brave. Their changing rooms are fresh and spacious, and we love having food and coffee afterwards at the cafe. You can buy swimmers and equipment at the Cafe shop. We had our 4 year old daughter here for swimming lessons a year back and we all loved it.
Fantastic experience: This swimming pool definitely made my days in Cairns, and one of the best. The stuffs are nice and helpful, there have pull buoy and kick board free to use.
Fantastic experience: A 10 lane 50mt, 6 lane 25mt non heated pools under very effective shade cover. 27deg water temperature so very comfortable on a hot day. Also has a thermal pool for injury management and corr strengthening. Very ♿️ friendly with several carpark spaces right out front.
Fantastic experience: What an Awesome Facility!
Fantastic experience: Great outdoor facilities and helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Best place in Cairns So much happening..I see lots of old mates everytime
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Not overcrowded. Reasonable prices. Fun trampoline.
Fantastic experience: Top spot for a splash. They are licensed too so you can have a swim and get one in
Fantastic experience: Kids loved the pools, life guards couldn't have been more helpful or friendly.
Fantastic experience: Great facility. Shame the wave pool is under repair but maybe next time it will be working.
Negative experience: My daughter attended swimming lessons staff always behind schedule, changed class times without informing me and once my daughter no longer attended they would not stop charging me for her swimming classes.
Positive experience: Loved the heated pool. Would have given 5 stars but the entrance to the changing rooms was very slippery and I slipped and fell, not good for a senior!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful complex, well maintained with friendly staff. Change rooms were clean.
Negative experience: The swimming lessons are great.... The direct debit system is the worst. I wish I could just pay by term in advance. They are aggressive when calling you if you have an issue. They cut you off straight away if you are minute late and suspend accounts then charge ridiculous fees as penalties. They don't suspend your account when you ask. Absolutely hopeless charging system. I'm thinking about cancelling swim lessons over this
Fantastic experience: Great pool with excellent facilities and friendly staff. Both the kids have lessons here and really enjoy their instructors. Very reasonably priced for what is on offer.
Fantastic experience: Great pool, nice staff
Fantastic experience: Good set up. Only went for a swim.
Fantastic experience: Toobruk pool is lovely. Three pools to chose from, sparkling water, lots of thi g's for kids including trampoline etc and the staff in the Cafe are lovely.
Fantastic experience: I planned my sons birthday party at Tobruk memorial pools and I wasn't disappointed, we had an absolutely awesome day and the staff went to extra lengths to ensure the satisfaction and attentiveness of needs were met for us which included a very generous portion of hot food, chips and a fresh platter of well presented fruit which we very much appreciated. The team of staff there are wonderful people and are very professional and have a positive attitude. We will be back for many years to come. Thankyou again for giving my Son a great birthday.
