Negative experience: This review is exclusively regarding the indoor climbing wall as I've not used any of the other facilities here. I have climbed in many indoor gyms in the UK, Sweden, Luxembourg and Australia and was climbing indoors or outdoors about 3 times a week before moving to Cairns. I'm sorry to say but this is the worst indoor wall I've ever been to. My reasons for being so negative are as follows: Helmets - These are mandatory, in spite of there being no danger from falling rocks and no danger of taking an upside down whipper, since it's toprope only. No lead climbing allowed. Very sweaty in the tropical climate and completely unnecessary; Chalk - Completely not permitted. In the heart of the wet tropics. If you're a climber, you don't need me to explain why this is so frustrating; Routesetting - I've climbed here twice, about 8 months apart and, as far as I could tell, very few if any of the routes had changed in that time. The routes were uninteresting and without any sense of flow. The ancient holds aren't pinned so some spin on the featured walls. The holds are grubby and black from old boot rubber. I'm a 182cm male with a 186cm arm span and too many of the moves were purely height-dependent. Shorter climbers just wouldn't be able to do those moves. 2 stars though for having some autobelays. I understand that this a government run facility and the groups that use it are restricted by official rules and regulations but - in my opinion - this climbing wall is decades behind the rest of the global climbing community and it's frustrating to see a potentially wonderful resource being squandered.

Fantastic experience: This place is a real hidden gem✨ My family and I have been living near by for more than a decade and we have never heard of this place before. We came to it for a school connection day and we had the BEST TIME EVER! There were so many fun and team building activities. The rock climbing was so much fun and challenging. We were SO glad the rock climbing was indoors and airconditioned

Fantastic experience: Wonderful venue. Went for a weekend camp, wall climbing wall in place as with a fire pit with logs to sit on, with scenic walks around to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Good for groups, amenities for men and women with a couple of rooms - one for the wall climbing and another for a meeting with a large undercover area.

Fantastic experience: Went with a school group for a leadership camp. Staff were amazing. Facilities were excellent. Ample space to set up tents down near the creek, a huge undercover area to seat your group to give lectures, show movies or set up meals. It also has a fridge, sink and cupboards. There’s also a safe area for sitting around the fire-pit, a short walk to beautiful swimming holes. The rock climbing and low ropes courses were perfect, allowing students to demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills. I’d recommend this for any school, club or team that needs to run some team building workshops.
