Wests Nelson Bay

Negative experience: This place used to be really good but it has gone downhill and I don't know what is with some of the stuff but it's like they recruit the rudest people possible! The bar lady with the blonde and blue hair is extremely rude and spoke to us in a disgusting tone when we just asked a question! The man with the glasses who was taking dinner orders was just as bad and any little change was a huge deal and he sighed like I was asking for a kidney from him. He also told my young autistic son off because he slightly moved the 10% discount for members sign. I would never come back to this establishment! Food is also very small and not good. Chips were horrible like they had freezer burn and had still been cooked. Roast was so incredibly small and dry and fatty. Vegetables aren't cooked enough. Sauce given is hardly anything. Fingal Bay sports club was much better.

Negative experience: Horrible for gambling All the machines are fixed. You will NEVER win there. Don't waist your time and money.

Positive experience: Big club with lots of pokies, has a pretty good sports bar and a few different places to sit fir a coffee or beer. Restaurant always seems busy but for me it's just bistro food that it's all that cheap.

Positive experience: We had the Melbourne cup lobster deal, great price, clean and managed eating area, staff friendly. Lobster was delicious, house wine smooth, accompanying veggies and chips were average but ok

Negative experience: No Roasts No Pizza…should have stuck to a burger. Took a punt and ordered “chefs special” mixed grill. It was very special! Specially bad! Nothing more than a breakfast meal for dinner. Partner and others around me were not happy either. If ever I have to eat at a club like this I will stick to giving a mark out of 10 for. Burgers…lots safer and cheaper Staff are wonderful and overall nice club.

Fantastic experience: Love Wests Nelson Bay. The food is always delicious, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I’m a coeliac and they have a number of gluten free options on their menu.

Negative experience: Rude bartender. Girl with long dark hair. No customer service. No smile. No greeting. Nothing but plain rude and disrespectful. Looks me up and down, and whispers into her colleagues ear about me. When I caught her, she threw her hands into the air. Hope management does something about this, would hate for it to happen to someone else!! Do better!!!!

Negative experience: We joined wests when we moved here 12 months ago and have eaten twice in the upstairs eatery, I won't call it a restaurant as the food is dreadful I cant believe the lack of attention to simple food, this is a disgrace and needs to be reviewed by Management we won't be back, what a wasted opportunity, maybe the club makes its money through other revenue streams and has forgotten good old fashioned customer service that comes with enjoyable food So so so bad

Positive experience: Welcoming and super helpful staff. Food was fantastic. Full of flavour. Good value. Didn't have to wait too long and it was busy. Footy was on the big screens and a band on Saturday night. Great place to be.

Fantastic experience: Returned a week later Hawaiian Snitty delish, best meal so far. I fell in love with the stunning person clearing the tables wearing an arousing scentSorry had to be mentioned. A year later and another review this occasion dined up stairs to n the Brasserie. Well lit and warm, sunny seating for a winters day. Snitty was moist, though the crumb wasn't my fav, the prawn skewer topper was disappointing, very commercial, prawns welded on to skewer and the Hollandaise didn't really sing with this. The side salad was the best, freshest edible side salad I've ever received, anywhere!!!, The Salt and Pepper squid looked oily and the same crumb as the Snitty. I think this crumb is too oil absorbent. The chips weren't crispy and had no seasoning. The Onion rings in blue cheese sauce was squirted out of possibly a home brand container, no blue cheese flavour at all. Seemed more like a whole egg mayo. 1⭐Came for lunch. Difficult sign in technology issue. Dim lighting, gloomy. Mood lighting not really creating a sense of vibrancy by day. Menu quite 70's. I selected Chicken Schnitzel. Ready before I could sit down. The chips were not fresh. The salad was not chilled, or fresh. The schnitzel was reheated. Equivalent to a Macca's drive thru. Overall the vibe was gods waiting room Like to an aged care facility. It appears that Wests reply to reviews However from the amount of Low star reviews before mine, there has been no improvement. What has Chef got to say moving forward.

Negative experience: Staying locally and thought we would grab some takeaway from the bistro. Ordered the King Prawn and Mango Salad - it was absolutely disgusting. Canned slushy mango and cheap frozen prawns that were inedible. When I say frozen prawns I’m talking straight out of the freezer bag. Garlic bread was the cheap $3 loaf style from Coles and stone cold. Just horrible and disappointing.

Negative experience: Had a birthday dinner here recently, the food was slightly disappointing one of us had the lobster and couldn’t eat it as it was too tough, it was served on a bed of what we can only assume was powdered deb. For a $50 meal this was very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Located at 88 Shoal Bay Road, Nelson Bay, New South Wales, Australia I wonderful club. Our group came for dinner on our last night in Nelson Bay. We had a great time. First we went to the Bay Brasserie for dinner. I had the prawn fettuccine and it was delicious. The other people in my group enjoyed their meal also. A good portion too, I was very full. Then we went downstairs to watch the live music and ended up watching the Rock & Roll dancing . It was so entertaining. The club is really well laid out, very accessible and easy to get around. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. A very enjoyable evening. Would definitely recommend. Thumbs up!!!

Fantastic experience: Our dining experience was made extra special by the kind, friendly and helpful service given by the Bay Brasserie staff, Karen Lawrence. She took the initiative to wash my 2 grandchildren’s two dirty bibs and our own children’s suction plate and always gave us big smiles when she came to clear our table during the night. We came back the next night for dinner mainly due to the exceptional service from Karen plus the great Brasserie food and kid-friendly atmosphere. We were so glad to see Karen again and felt really at home because of her presence the second night. We certainly will return to dine here when we book our next holiday in Port Stephens!

Positive experience: Nicely set out club with lovely decor. The food was reasonable quality with very generous portions. Very weird that they don't have menus so you have to read the large menu sign and memorise everything or all go up together to order. All the staff were friendly.

Da die Öffnungszeiten auf Google nicht stimmten konnten wir in letzter Sekunde das Essen und ein Getränk bestellen und im Kantinen artigen Saal schnell verspeisen, während neben uns die Stühle schon mal hochgestellt wurden. Fürs romantisch Essen gehen ist das nichts. Tip an den Chef: Man merkt den Mitarbeitern an, wie sie geführt werden!

Fantastic experience: A late night Coffee opportunity when all other cafes are shut! Xshot large Cappuccino and it definitely delivered,,, hit the spot full flavour, strong and clean taste all the way down to the bottom. I was actually surprised with the overall experience I had here would definitely plan to comeback for another next time and a Gelato as well

Negative experience: very disappointed I ordered steak med 600g with potatoe an vegetables what I got was a rare steak with majority fat also with Deb packet potato dry vegetables had to take it back why I watched my family eat by the time another meal came out again everyone was finished and again it was only med on a tiny portion again majority fat and under cooked dry vegetables and packet potatoes by that time I was over trying to attempt to carve the steak apart from the fat again I returned it for a refund atleast the staff was great then I got to the gaming lounge and losse 150 in the pokies in under 10mins playing $1.25 bets ordered a beer upsize to at pint and halfway through drinking it found the rim of the cup to have slimy dry skin stuck to it so I left will gladly never return here again

Positive experience: It's changed a lot over the years, and I think I prefer the 90s version better. The dishes are expensive and beer is more expensive than my local in Sydney. The food was okay, but hard to justify the price. They have a wonderful display of war goods. It's not really the place to go for a reasonable family dinner, but there are few options in this area.

Negative experience: The food was pretty average. We had a large group and the feedback was that the roast Pork was too dry, chicken wasn't cooked through, and burgers were bland. They were professional enough to refund the chicken meal but it still soured our experience.

Negative experience: After spending hundreds of dollars on a weekly basis......not winning anything BUT AS A MEMBER YEEPEE you get to swipe your card to get 3 pieces out of the vending machine. Being a member for the last 10 years, in the beginning I oppted for the nut section instead of the chocolate one. 10 years ago the nut section was always stayle.......and to my surprise they still are.......you might not even be aware of this but please ask your supplier to remove all of their nut/pretzel section. Very disappointing venue

Negative experience: A long line to order food, and a long wait and food is disappointingly mediocre. Went to order ginger beer and got given diet ginger beer instead, which I didn't realize. Once realized, took the 2 opened drinks back and they told me that the bartender had asked if I am happy with diet drink which I didn't hear at all. The funny thing is, there was normal ginger beer right next to it, so it's a mystery why they would not just give what they were asked for, instead of supposedly asking if I want diet, which I didn't hear. They were hesitant to swap since drinks were opened. Disappointed overall, even though reluctantly they replaced them with normal ginger beer which is what I asked for, however it was patronizing treatment.
