Our Gym Nelson Bay

Negative experience: I wanted to make a complaint because I'm really disappointed and angry about it. I'm a foreigner, I came to Nelson Bay to live and work there. When I signed up at the gym, I chose to pay for the weekly plan for both me and my girlfriend since I didn't know how long I'd be staying. Despite that, they charged me every 15 days. Weeks after I left the bay, I wanted to cancel the service, and one of the employees there, who never told me I had to give 30 days' notice, said to send an email. Later, I found out they'd charge me until September 22 (I was leaving on August 30). I spoke to the owner, despite my limited English, and he said he'd do the stop debit (with the employee who signed me up present). He asked me when I was leaving Nelson Bay, and it seemed he understood that I explained I didn't know about the 30-day notice, so I was under the impression they wouldn't charge me $74 for a service I wouldn't use, but I was wrong. The day after I left Nelson Bay, the $74 debit came through. This person lied to me and not only that, but they made sure I wasn't in the bay so I couldn't complain. It really annoys me and saddens me that they took advantage of me like that, lied to me, and relied on a contract I signed despite explaining the situation and no one telling me about the notice period. They lied to my face saying they'd do the stop debit. Anyway, I hope they use that money to buy products and clean the toilets, which are really dirty, fix equipment that's been broken for months, level the floor mats, and all the maintenance issues they should do to make it the worthy place they claim to be.I wanted to make a complaint because I'm really disappointed and angry about it. Positive experience: My partner and I used to love coming here on holidays but we were very sad to see that last time we came they increased the 5 pass price. We paid it though, as training is really important to us. Then again we have come on holiday in the new year, and the prices have increased again!! Two huge jumps in the 5-pass price just seems uncalled for. We are now training elsewhere whilst on holidays in the area. Decent equipment and a good environment, but casual prices are just too excessive.

Fantastic experience: The minute I walked into this gym I was greeted by staff and clients. Everyone is so welcoming and inclusive, I felt like I belonged instantly. The equipment is great and there are so many classes to choose from. It can be accessed 24/7 which is a massive plus. I highly recommend Our Gym for any age or ability. I’ve been doing PT sessions with Tania and she is absolutely incredible! She has helped motivate and challenge me. I have reached some goals I had given up on. Could not recommend more highly!

Fantastic experience: Exceptional service! There should be the option to give 10 Stars here on google. This place puts a capital S in service to customers. I had trouble with access on a Sunday (my fault) and I was in and sorted in 10 minutes after just a simple phone call on a Sunday afternoon. This gym is big old school full of useful clean well serviced equipment and plenty of space. It rocks

Fantastic experience: From the moment I made contact with Tim, the owner, alongside his wife Lauren, I was going to join this gym. There is plenty of choice in the area of Nelson Bay, but I wanted a gym that cared. You get that in spades with Our Gym, a friendly inclusive family run community of fitness and health. The Les Mills classes are astoundingly good at building fitness, the instructors friendly, motivating and kind, lots of fabulous equipment and facilities. If you want an independent gym that really cares, go to Our Gym. You won’t ever regret it.

Positive experience: It’s pretty good, close to home, it’s affordable, the staff are lovely and it’s got nice vibes. Some of the equipment is outdated and shoddy, the pins not fitting into the weight stack is annoying and most of the equipment isn’t designed to be used by anyone above 5’9 which does get in the way but overall I enjoy it

Fantastic experience: I purchased a casual pass for 5 visits at this gym and I must say, it was worth every penny. The facility is clean, has a nice layout, and is equipped with modern equipment for both weightlifting and cardio. The bathrooms are also clean and well-maintained. What really sets this gym apart though is the friendly staff who always made me feel welcome and provided helpful advice when needed.

Fantastic experience: My son Harry and I started Mums and Bubs class when he was 6 weeks old. I was a bit nervous returning to exercise after 9 months off after being very unwell my whole pregnancy. Lauren had me feeling at ease during the first session, it helped knowing she is a Mum of two young kids herself. She was extremely knowledgeable in post partum recovery and the exercises we did made me feel energised and not like I'd overdone it. Now I've completed the 6 week program I feel stronger, fitter, and confident to continue my postpartum fitness journey. My favourite parts of Mums and Bubs was meeting other mothers, using my baby as a weight during the exercises (so fun!), and boxing during the circuit training. Thank you Lauren!

Fantastic experience: A brilliant fully inclusive gym catering for all ages and abilities. Great facilities to do your own thing or join in one of the many group classes. Wouldn't consider going anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Our Gym is a friendly gym with lots of classes for all abilities! You always feel welcome. The instructors are all awesome & take time to get to know you. Lots of variety for you to do whatever class interests you. A great place to get fitter!!

Fantastic experience: Nice little gym, got good quality equipment. It's clean and friendly. I mainly go for the Pilates and Body Balance classes, but there quite a few other classes offered as part of the Les Mills Program. Easy to join, and they have a fair policy and good offers so that you can try to ensure you like it.

Fantastic experience: My family and I had a great experience at Our Gym at Nelson Bay during our vacation. Tim and Lauren were very warm welcoming us to their gym, we felt like home away from home. Staffs and members were very friendly, the gym equipment, classes and boxing room were very good, Tim and Lauren are very kind, friendly and helpful to us, we are very grateful and appreciative. Fantastic experience: Great local gym. We travel from Sydney regularly and I always go here. Good selection of classes. Instructors have boundless enthusiasm. Very good facilities down to the hair bands and deodorant in the bathrooms!

Fantastic experience: This health club is a Port Stephens institution and has thrived through some challenging times by providing exactly what you need in a 'gym' - non-judgy encouragement, good equipment, an incredible group fitness timetable, energetic instructors, a clean and safe environment... and lots, and lots of smiles! The owners, Tim and Lauren, are 'products of their product' and undoubtedly live by the maxim... if you ain't having fun, what the heck are you doing it for!

Fantastic experience: I only join our gym Nelson bay in February this year . The feeling I’m getting walking in, is a relaxed atmosphere and the very friendly staff make me feel comfortable. Seven months down the track after a lot of hard work, flexible availability for me(having two full time jobs) around my work schedule here I am 7 kilos less and feeling fabulous. Fantastic experience: I recently moved from Castle Hill to “The Bay”. I was a member at the Castle Hill Fitness and Aquatic centre for over 20 years . Being a life member clearly says that it suited me well. Joining Our Gym Nelson Bay has been a wonderful experience… the staff and instructors are super friendly , they are interested in the happiness and well-being of new comers. They are professional in their approach to fitness and super energetic when instructing classes. Classes are fun and new routines introduced regularly. The gym is kept clean and a safe , tidy environment is maintained throughout. Social media updates are regularly keeping members up to date with changes and inspirational/motivational reminders. I am happy to call Our Gym my gym for the next 20 years !!!

Fantastic experience: Our Gym is the best gym I have ever joined, and I've tried a few. It is owned and run by a young family and you feel like like you're part of a community, not a nonentity in a corporate. The gym equipment and the group fitness classes are extensive and the instructors, bar none, are exceptional. The atmosphere at the gym is highly motivating, there are always new challenges to take on and I feel fitter and stronger, both mentally and physically since I joined. Also, it is great to be part of a gym that is so inclusive of members with special abilities and of all age groups. Our gym.......I love it.

Truly went above and beyond to remotely provide me one-off access while I was on holidays, even though they were unstaffed. The gym itself is awesome, with an almost overwhelming amount of equipment and rooms - massive weights room, loads of the best cardio equipment, a spin room, a boxing room, huge group exercise studio...would love to be a member!

Fantastic experience: The newest gym in Nelson Bay. Two very experienced, enthusiastic and energetic instructors. A great range of classes that go from Seated Strength to Les Mills BodyCombat and even Mum’s and Bub’s. A brand new Crèche is also now available. A promise of more instructors and an even larger range of classes to come as the Membership builds. The gym has a fresh look to it, loads of space, and the staff and participants are welcoming and friendly. A great place for your workout.
