Fantastic experience: The staff are very nice, and the equipment is clean and well maintained. The new dumbells are also very nice. As a student, this is the cheapest gym I could find but is on par or better than other gyms.

Fantastic experience: This is a local gym with a family-friendly atmosphere (no posers/egos etc) The gym contains a moderate amount of equipment and everything you need to work out. Even though the gym is very popular, it's never over-crowed. Nicole and her staff members are very approachable and are always willing to assist you to achieve your goals. Brendon is very knowledgeable, and he took the time to understand my motivations; he created a workout plan and provided an 'easy-to-implement' weight-tracking plans. I can't speak highly enough about this gym, whether you're looking to get into shape, working on a goal, or just improving yourself, Evoke fitness has you covered. It's the best gym in Mackay. Definitely check them out!

Positive experience: Second editorial : after being contact directly from the owner to explain my rating I'll give a more thorough response. 1st - appreciate the dedication to get more feedback/answers but that phone conversation made me feel incredibly pressured to change my review (whether the pressure was intentional or not) Cons : the gym is very small. There is a LOT of machines in there that are unnecessary. This leaves very little room for free weights (which is a substantially smaller section). There is only one free barbell squat rack. This is a diverse set up that can be used for multiple exercises (squats, bent over rows, hanging leg raises, pull ups etc) so would be more beneficial to remove the one-use equipment and replace with more versatile equipment saving you space. The water fountain is not very cold (my opinion), there is no room for stretching. An empty section to stretch or a free wall to lean against would be good. As I'm here for 2 months my only payment option was for $100 a month. Far too expensive for what is offered. There are no classes. The key tag is refundable ONLY if used for 1 month or less. As this is not a chain gym - For those traveling its money wasted. There is no secure place for your belongings. On orientation I was shown the bathroom- noted there's lockers inside but wasn't told I could use them(don't even know if they do lock up) so you end up leaving your belongings in the open. The dumb bells themselves are rather cheap looking/made. They are loose in grip and can rotate in your hand. Also have bolts sticking out of them (placing the dumbbells to rest on my thighs almost ripped my tights from the exposed metal wear). The lifting plates don't have a 15kg option - should be available in increments of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20 etc). There is no deadlifting platform and the squat rack doesn't allow placement of the bar in it so you have to move out into the very limited floor space for a deadlift motion (also no soft pad to drop the deadlift weight if needed) Pros : the bathrooms are lovely. Great options to dry hair, shower etc. The vending machine even had the option of towels to pre workouts etc which is a great range. The gym is always very tidy and clean - cleaner than most I've been to! The staff are all very lovely and polite offering help and smiling. The use of the blinds that come down during peak sun hours is very good! The machines (while a lot unnecessary - are very new, some counting your reps for you!) Theres a good amount and range of cardio equipment (although the spin bikes monitor set up hasn't worked for me each time I've gone to use them so relied on my watch for time and distance etc) Overall, closest gym to my location without a car, gets the job done. Good for novice gym goers but not highly practical or efficient in space. I hope my more thorough review will be acceptable.

Fantastic experience: Have been a member at Evoke for over a year now and I couldn’t be more happy with the friendly staff and experience I get each time. The other members are great to talk too and the gym itself is always spotless.

Fantastic experience: Friendly + beautiful quieter gym. Super clean + great equipment. Although, I originally chose larger gyms (Goodlife, World, Snap), this one has been super refreshing. Sad to be leaving because I’m moving away but Evoke is one I highly recommend!

I was in Mackay for only 2 weeks, the short term price was the best out of all the other gyms and the service was next level, the owner came out after hours just to let me in. The technogym equipment is great and it has more then what you need for a good workout, actually better then my gym at home

Fantastic experience: Top class machines/facilities to train every muscle group, fantastic friendly service and reasonably priced.

Negative experience: Unforgettable experience. The guy who runs this place was violent and aggressive with customers. He initially refused to open the door to a subscribed fitness passport member upon ringing the doorbell. After ringing the bell a second time, he returned and presented aggressive and violent. The gym is meant to be a place for working on self improvement. Not violence and aggression. I am lost for words, this is unbelievably messed up

Fantastic experience: This gym has everything for a beginner to an advanced workout. Plenty of cardio equipment but also free weights and power stations to suit all workouts. Nicole was incredible in organising a last minute casual pass for my partner and I. We would definitely recommend this gym to others and visit next time if we are staying in the area.

Fantastic experience: Great local gym. Walking distance from the hospital (about 15-20 mins). It is a small to medium size gym but has all the equipment that you need. The staff is super friendly and will help you with anything. They kindly extended my contract period for a couple of days totally free.
