Kelvin Grove parkrun, located in Brisbane, offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for runners of all levels. This free community event takes place every Saturday morning and is designed to promote health and fitness among participants.
The course follows a mostly flat, concrete path along the scenic Enoggera Creek, featuring plenty of shade from surrounding trees, making it ideal for warm summer runs. Participants can enjoy:
- Friendly volunteers and a supportive community
- Easy access to parking, with options both off-street and in nearby facilities
- A mix of flat sections and small hills that add a little challenge
- A beautiful, picturesque environment perfect for enjoying nature
While the event can get crowded at the start, it has ample space to accommodate everyone, although some narrow paths may require caution when overtaking, especially for those with strollers. Despite minor issues like limited immediate bathroom facilities, the overall organization of the run is commendable.
Many participants have noted the fun and friendliness of the event, as well as the positive atmosphere that encourages everyone to set personal bests. Overall, Kelvin Grove parkrun is highly recommended for both seasoned runners and newcomers looking to join a lively community!
Kelvin Grove parkrun: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Friendly Parkrun with shady course following concrete path along side creek. Two 180 degree and one 90 degree turns with marshalls. Some other slight turns so follow markings on path.
Positive experience: Busy parkrun, some rude people
Fantastic experience: Well organised. Shady track, mostly flat. Good turnout.
Positive experience: Nice and shady so good for Summer parkruns. A little cramped at the start but has a wide path to start with but later narrows so overtaking needs to be done with caution. Can be difficult with a pram in the narrow sections.
Fantastic experience: One of our rotating local parkrun. The course is along the Enoggera Creek bikeway on concrete. There are some shades along the course and a few hills in some sections. Parking is pretty easy and organisers and volunteers are very friendly and welcoming.
Fantastic experience: Fun group & always have a jovial Xmas day run. Course is on concrete path, pretty flat & along the creek so some trees to keep it cooler. Lots of parking around - off street & on. Local coffee shop a couple of hundred metres away.
Fantastic experience: Great park atmosphere right in the city, and nice mixed environment, with everything from creeks to parks. Sometimes there's even a paddock with a horse in it!
Fantastic experience: Double out and back. Good parking, less good immediate bathroom facilities. Mostly shaded.
Positive experience: Beautiful spot for a run and generally not too crowded. A few small hills on this course.
Fantastic experience: Lovely flat parkrun. Definitely one for a PB
Positive experience: Nice course. Friendly volunteers. No issues with parking. Didn't find any toilets near by.
Fantastic experience: Challenging enough, with some ups and downs, good chunks of shade. Well organised and good people around. All lovely.
Fantastic experience: Good to go
Positive experience: Easy out and back run with very little elevation gain. Friendly community and volunteers when I visited.
Fantastic experience: after the run i felt like thesm (below)
Fantastic experience: Two out and back sections along the Enoggera Creek Bikeway which is made of concrete. The course starts and finishes near Bishop Street, Kelvin Grove.
Fantastic experience: Perfect place for a run, walk, socialise.
Positive experience: Love parkrun and we are here because Newfarm is currently out of action, but I find the windy switchback path more mentally difficult for some reason, always thinking I am closer to finishing than I really am...which is a challenge when you aren't as close to the finish as you hope! But love Parkrun :)
Fantastic experience: Great course! Set a PB on my first run there, really enjoyed the KG surrounds! Recommended!
Fantastic experience: Nice accessible spot for a quick run before it gets too hot!
Fantastic experience: Lovely wee park and very well lit at night.
