Splash Devonport Aquatic And Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: As a double amputee swimming can be terrifying. What if I don’t float? It’s been ten years since I got in a pool, and I had my legs back then. So, this is a big deal! Today is the first day that I have used the Cérge app to book a visit to Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre. Normally with myself being a double aka (above knee amputee) in an electric wheelchair I can often find I am a bit apprehensive going to new places. I’m never quite sure if the new places I’m going to will be suitable for my needs and if arrive and then must just go home. It’s a bit annoying and anxiety inducing. A lot of businesses I have been to previously don’t have sufficient room to manoeuvre around in a big wheelchair like mine, I would steer clear of venues like this. I have found some not suitable to my needs which can be quite off putting and disappointing. I was very excited to see Cérge has its very own Access and Inclusion guide with a visual story. So, I looked at that before going. I was able to see photos of the doorways, the pathways, entrances, everything! There as so much information it was excellent. Being the first time using Cérge I wasn’t sure how it would all go, but I found the app quite easy to use and I shouldn’t have worried. I guess I’ve just had so many disappointing experiences in the past. I arrived at Splash and welcomed by Hamish who made me feel very at ease and was able to give me a full tour of the facilities. Let me tell you Splash is a great place with many pools and a hydrotherapy pool which is accessible by their own wheelchairs, with the use of a hoist. A sling in the spacious changing room that has plenty of wheelchair access. After seeing all the equipment I’m confident enough to know now that it will be no problem for me and my carer to visit in the future and I can now add swimming into my life. They also have a full leisure centre with many different exercise classes and a huge fully equipped gym. I have found in the past that I can feel a little unsettled as I don’t feel welcome and not always seen if that makes sense, as well as some places aren’t set up for wheelchairs and people with disability like myself. However, that was something I did not have to worry about today, I felt welcomed and included thanks to Hamish who answered all my questions and showed me around the whole facilities at Splash. I hope more business will start using and offering Cérge in the community. Being on the app, it shows me you are trying and you care. There is nothing else like it that I have come across. I know that myself and so many others who have any disability or restrictions will find the Cérge a benefit. If Cérge was in every business just like EFTPOS is I know I would have more confidence in experiencing different places that in the past I may never would tried. This helps me have a fuller life and more things to do and that is very exciting!

Fantastic experience: During our trip to Devonport I managed to get a swim at the facility. I loved the 50m outdoor pool and the whole venue. Very friendly staff and the facility very clean and everything looks well maintained. I also noticed they look very accessible for people with disabilities. I can’t wait to be back to do more laps!!

Fantastic experience: As visitors from Albany in Western Australia we were impressed with the friendly staff, facilities and the number of life guards on duty around the complex. All the facilities were clean and tidy and the cafe had a good selection of hot and cold food and drinks available. Reception staff, in particular Yvette, were engaging and welcoming. To top it off on the Saturday before Christmas kids had free entry into waterslide and a free sausage sizzle for everyone. Thanks Splash for a great time.

Fantastic experience: Amazing pool with outdoor, indoor, kids and oldies options. Awesome water slide too and all nestled into the bush!

Negative experience: Put my daughter in for swimming lessons, they put her in the wrong class so she was not happy she did not get to swim. Get told wrong dates for next lesson. You don't get to meet the teacher to have a quick chat about the level they are at. They just get straight into pool and expect to do what the other kids are at. They need to change how they do things there. See how things go next time.

Negative experience: Had swimming lessons for over 10 years, all of a sudden it’s became hard to communicate with splash, got told they couldn’t accommodate our son in changing times by receptionist, when letting them know we changed swimming lessons to another pool they could all of a sudden accommodate. We fill let down and disappointed in splash.

Fantastic experience: Always a great place to go

Fantastic experience: For anyone wanting to beat the winter blues and get in shape, I can highly recommend Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre as not only a gym but an overall health club. Their brand new equipment is amazing and the gym is a clean, welcoming and inclusive environment to train - they even have sensory hour where the lights go down and music off. The classes are fun and they have 30-45 minute options if 1 hour isn't your thing and the hydrotherapy pool and recovery zone are perfect after a hard workout, they even have yoga! All of the staff are so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and they set you up with a free training program, body scans and follow ups and the price is so affordable! Absolutely love it here ️

Fantastic experience: If I lived in Devonport I would definitely be a member here. The gym has a wide variety of equipment. There are a few pools, some indoors. The whole complex is set in a beautiful part of the city, in stunning bushland.

Negative experience: I have recently cancelled my membership and asked for a tax invoice to get it reimbursed by the company that I work for. First they sent me an imported table with bunch of dates and amounts. When I asked for a more proper looking official document, I was told that I should come to the center in person. I didn’t bother questioning why they can’t send it via email and went to the center. They noted my name on a piece of paper and told me that I’ll receive it via email. I am still waiting for a tax invoice which is the sole requirement of any purchase and an essential right of every customer. I will keep trying every legal way possible to obtain this one page of printout but just wanted to leave this review to let people know how great of a job they have done turning a very happy client into complete opposite because of bad management.

Fantastic experience: Alex ( my 11 year old son) loved Splash. We had to use the outside pool but Alex loved it (Splash are doing renovations on the inside pools). I asked about special need swimming classes and Wendy was so helpful. All in all a great first experience

Negative experience: During school holidays and no waterside running,indoor pool closed. So we decided to use our inflatable ring for the older kids only to be told no inflatables are allowed over 1 metre long/wide We will be heading to the Launceston pool in future!

Negative experience: Being charged full price when there’s 1/3 of the large cold pool available for use (rest used for lane swimming) and 2/3 of the small kids pool is being used for swimming lessons is appalling, Under 16 not aloud in the therapy pool, Being cattle yarded into less than 10 meters is Not a great experience when taking a young family to enjoy the water, especially for $20. And no one bothers to let you know it’s not available. You’re better off taking the trip to the Launceston aquatic centre where there’s activities for the kids and room to move.

Positive experience: Kids pool is too small. Even The 25 meter indoor pool is often too crowded, because all but one or two lanes are reserved for swimming lessons or clubs a lot of time. the water slide is okay, when it is open which is not often. The kids swimming lessons I think are great and good value, the gym I cannot speak for, never been there.

Negative experience: Management is appalling. Only 1m lane is left for toddlers to play after 90%of the warm pool is used for multiple swimming lessons, and it was jam packed! I've visited the pool every week for the last 6 months and I have only seen the water feature for kids turned on only twice. Management charged $15 failed direct debit fee for a $19 weekly payment for kids swimming lessons, which is like 80% of the amount itself. What are you a loan shark? Now the kids pool is going to shut for use in Nov for the next 5 months due to renovations. The council should replace the management.

Fantastic experience: Love to go here to the gym. Will miss it when I leave back to The Netherlands.

Negative experience: Badly managed ,staff are leaving . Over booked . Being a member is not worth it bookings come first. Members are not considered when bookings take predadence over everything.

Negative experience: Great location and Members, Good to have a pool nearby. The gym facilities are good, there is no casual gym entry price only full access. Some staff need to be a bit more professional and present. I personally don’t recommend working here, if you are a genuine person. Maybe it could be a different story if their CLEAR values were consistent among all levels of staff.

Positive experience: Nice and clean pool, doesn’t have that too much chlorine smell and sting that the Hobart Aquatic Centre has. I wasn’t able to use a locker because I don’t carry change and there wasn’t anything staff could do to help.

Negative experience: Charged just under twenty bucks for three kids to have access to the equivalent of one swimmers lane because they have like 7 swimming classes running at the same time you'd think they'd advertise that 2/3 of the tiny kids pool and all but one lane of the large pool is out of access between 3.30 and 6pm daily. Outside pool is closed and empty and they can't even fix the broken tiles in their bloody pool. Total rip off.

Positive experience: Splash is a pool with plenty of things to do and good variety of pools but two things number 1 being that the water slide is barely open and the staff lie so they don’t have to do as much work like when I went there it was 2:50 and they said that the slide closes at 3 then a few days later and we asked what time it closes and a more responsible staff member siad it closes at 4. The second thing being that it is just pathetic that there’s only hot food from 11 am to 2 pm, the hot food should be available from 10:30 to 3:30, thanks splash I hope you hear this.

Negative experience: Very very very poor service, the young girl could not provide any answers to when is the best time to swim for the kids. This place does not provide a place for toddlers to come and spend some time here unless you are enrolled in swimming lessons. The splash park is not openly open to the public was told just now it’s up to the life guards if it gets turned on or not. Don’t waste your money or time to visit here.

Positive experience: You can get a hot shower here in a private cubicle for 2 bucks which is great when traveling...the centre itself is modern and has nice pools seems very popular staff are friendly and entry is easy good parking and a dog exercise fenced area is adjusted to the centre as is a walking trail and nice bushland ...covid safe practices here

Negative experience: The staff were young bossy and very undeveloped. They treat you like your beneath them and you shall do as your told. To register is a nightmare when your dealing with a snotty arrogant little girl who clearly has no respect for you. Never will i go there again.

Negative experience: Great facilities and swim teachers are very good. Weekday staff is quite good and helpful. But we had a couple of bad experiences with the weekend staff. They did not know anything to be honest. We were turned back from a class, after saying teacher is on medical leave although there was a replacement teacher. Also weekend staff could be more sensitive towards its customers. It's not like we are taking classes for free, it's a business and you should provide great customer service not try to treat your customers as a liability. I hope Management looks into this topic.

Positive experience: Considering a town the size of Devonport even has a facility like this is outstanding and a credit to the council and the city itself. Was very well run, clean and we were there for training. Outdoor pool was clean despite blowing a gale and indoor pool was also great. Pricing wise is where it is a BIG letdown. $6.20 for an adult swim and if you want to use the gym its another $17 on top of that which is a disgrace.

Negative experience: The centre has only one pool open in the middle of summer and the water fountain is taped up and unusable and the times advertised on their voice message says that all aquatic facilities close a half hour before the centre which is nine o’clock mon to Thursday but when you get there your told it closes at 7.30 and you are being charged full price which isn’t cheap at the best of times for half the pools just not on!! repairs should have been done in winter very poorly run get your act together.
