I’ve tried many gyms in Devonport and the surrounding areas, and unfortunately, most have been disappointing in terms of service, support, safety, structure, and cleanliness. My time kept getting wasted—until I found ZAP Fitness. I originally went searching for a better gym after a frustrating experience at another facility, where group fitness sessions took over the entire space, leaving paying customers like myself unable to use the equipment. I was more than happy to share, but the lack of flexibility pushed me to look elsewhere. And I’m so glad it did—because ZAP exceeded my expectations in every way! ✅ Clean, spacious, and well-structured – The gym is fresh, open, and provides plenty of room for both workouts and mobility training. ✅ Amazing atmosphere – The background music creates a great vibe, the staff are incredibly welcoming, and the members bring positive, high-energy conversations that make training enjoyable. ✅ Neurodivergent-friendly – I can be myself here—whether that means dancing, staying positive, or simply feeling comfortable without judgment. ✅ Top-notch facilities – The showers are clean and spacious, making it feel more like home than just another gym. For me, any gym I commit to must have a family-based feel with strong safety, structure, cleanliness, support, and high vibrations—and ZAP Fitness delivers on all of it. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Came in for a trial few minutes early. Was told to wait while she watched tick-tock’s or something on her phone. Clearly not interested in helping or getting a customer

Fantastic experience: Oh, Zap Gym, where do I even begin? Let me start by saying that this gym is the epitome of fitness perfection. I mean, who needs fire exits anyway? You'll be too busy sweating in the sauna and showers to even think about escaping in case of an emergency. That's just a minor detail, right? But let's talk about the real reason you're here: the exercise. Let me tell you, my muscles have never been so swollen and bulging as they are after a workout at Zap. The weights practically lift themselves when I'm there. I think it might be the special air they pump in that gives me superhuman strength. Or maybe it's the unicorn tears they sprinkle on the equipment. And the best part? The membership price! It's practically a steal compared to other gyms that charge an arm and a leg for the same mediocre workout experience. I mean, sure, you might have to sacrifice a limb or two to get out of the sauna in case of a fire, but at least you're not sacrificing your wallet for a gym membership. Overall, I highly recommend Zap Gym to anyone who wants to feel like a Greek god or goddess. Just don't forget to bring a fire extinguisher and a towel, because things can get pretty hot in there. But hey, that's just part of the fun, right?

Fantastic experience: Really good zap gym! Plenty of machines and racks, always clean. Spacious. Usually quiet in the mornings too. Have enjoyed my experience here while I’ve been working in Devonport for the last month.

Negative experience: Beware the 3 day trial is not really a trial, you must sign up. I returned two expired fobs to the gym and they still said I had to pay for a new fob if I joined. I recommend you thoroughly read their policy before joining.

Negative experience: Not the cleanest. Zap as a whole is not a good business. They will rip you off if they can if you want to quit. Very dishonest business. I will never sign up with Zap again if I live nearby to this gym & I will never recommend it to anyone I know. A few people I know have quit due to this issue as well.

Negative experience: THE TOWELS ARE OPTIONAL GYM..... The worst GYM in Devonport . I have been in Gyms since I was 16 and I'm now 50. This is probably the worst gym of them all. Staff with no idea and who I have zero confidence in. They spend 90% of their time chatting to friends instead of making sure the gym rules are adhered to. This is the gym where towels are optional but you get boned in for not wearing a mask in the door only to take it off 5 seconds later. The gym also has poor maintenance of gear and facilities. Toilets are disgusting and the whole place has a dirty feel about it. This place will die a fast death when Anytime fitness arrives in the area.

Positive experience: This gym is very good the price for start up is lower then most gyms but the cleaning in the toilets is a bit bad but the gym equipment is the equipment you will need to smash goals but still needs some equipment. Solid gym 7/10

Negative experience: Over priced. Cheaper gyms around. Can't take my child in even supervised. Stupid policy, was quite happy to pay for her to join as well and courage healthy exercise mentality especially for the slightly overweight. But to be knocked back because she was too young is ridiculous! Will never go here ever! Encourage everyone else to shop around!

Negative experience: I've been going to zap for just over a year. Its quite dirty, the toilets only seem to get cleaned properly once a fortnight if that and have a horrid smell. No air-conditioning. No free parking. Cant access internet properly on machines. Staff don't really monitor people using equipment properly or cleaning of it. Want to sign my 16 year old son up who can only go during staffed hours (so when its packed) and has to pay same price as me even though he can't have 24/7 access. They should at least offer a cheaper price. Will lose me as a client when anytime fitness opens.

Your typical small town gym capitalizing on lack of local competition.. 1- No air conditioning in summer, leading to 200% humidity with overpowering smell of rancid BO. 2- Dont expect the staff to have any idea of customer service. 3- Forget having a quiet session after-hours, that's the time for local Hoons to let all their mates in for free.. 4- No 7day trials or one off sessions for out of towners and constant bombardment with advertising to your mobile, yey.. Oh and dont loose the cheap plastic key, that's a 50$ replacement fee!
