Negative experience: The gym is small, not enough equipment for the amount of people who are training here. Also, the equipment is old and out of date. I don't understand why is categorised as Platinum.

Fantastic experience: Normally i dont review gyms but i have to say in the last 6-12 months roughly the gym has come a long way. It used to be neglected but since whoever the new manager is there have been many improvements. All the old staff are gone which is actually good and the cleaning is much better and the actual customer service has improved a lot.

Negative experience: Guys seriously you need to open 24/7 because the walker st one is getting even worse not clean at all, no hand sanitiser, the machines breaking, roof falling apart and so on, or just close the on at walker st and keep this one opened 24/7 pls

Negative experience: Opening hours are ridiculously limited meaning you can barely use the gym as it’s always closed. They state that you can just got to the 24hr version down the road but that’s a passport gym ie. lower quality than that you pay for, it’s a rip off. Given limited opening hours the gym is always packed when it is open and you’re waiting ages for the big machines like leg press. Very limited options for contracts too, they just want to lock you into something long and expensive to get out of. On a positive, the classes are good!
Negative experience: I had a terrible experience at the gym after visiting yesterday and talking to the staff. They showed no respect and were very rude. Before I became a member, they were very friendly, but after I signed up, their attitude changed completely. I ask myself why they laugh at people.
Negative experience: Once you're in, they make it nearly impossible to exit the membership, going to great lengths to withdraw money from your account. The story goes like this: I wanted to cancel my membership after years of using the gym. They convinced me to continue, offering a 6-month pause. However, after that period, without any notification or email, they resumed charging me. It took me a month to realize this, and during that time, they continued debiting my account despite having no access to the gym for over 6 months. When I called to cancel, they insisted on a 4-week notice, even though I'd been a member for years. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do for me. If this is the kind of relationship you expect from a business, go ahead and watch them take advantage of you.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with them. When you sign up they are nice and friendly. However, when you want to cancel your membership they will not cancel even after you give them the required notice. In my case, I was being charged for several months after I gave the notice. Following up for a refund took a long time, as no one actions your emails or helps over the phone.
Fantastic experience: I've been going to the Elizabeth and the Walker St FF for years. The group class instructors are very professional and friendly. Elizabeth gym has better equipment and views than the Walker st FF. Sorry, but the walker st gym just feels... very run down. Pity Elizabeth FF closes at 7.30pm.
Negative experience: The gym is very dirty, and the steam room has a very bad bacterial smell all the time. I've told the management, but no one does anything about it. I'm sure someone will pick up something in their.
Positive experience: Im a member of this club before I have bad experience on clubs thats why I decided to join other clubs tyen move here near north sydney, so I decided to join Elizabeth blng branch. Because a good staff change my perception so I decide to join. But today I was at the club and can't used equipment Because trainors are using them, bec they trainning some one and they are using multiple equipment , its a bad experience bec trainors are just thinking on their own benefits

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the Elizabeth Plaza Fitness First for 15 years , always there when it opens , workout for 75-85 mins, try all the different options, classes , different equipment etc . Very good , never had an issue. In fact they changed the opening time to 6.00am which works out well

Negative experience: 2nd time with FF & this time in Australia -I will never ever sign up again, it’s such a shame a globogym cannot keep up to its reputation. They have the worst admin/customer service and retention team ever! I work in customer service (fitness specifically too), so I know what a customer deserves. Everyone pre-signup/trial phase was all helpful from payment issues (their fault for wrong setup), locker card, etc. Unsure if this is a Sydney thing but I went to Melbourne, and they’re so warm and friendly! When one of SYD receptionist checked my ac., my towel card was never been deducted when I used it multiple times -what did I pay for then?! Also, towels are charged in Sydney but not in Melb. The most that ticked me off was after signing up, that’s it… like suddenly I don’t deserve to receive any communication reply. Needed an email confirmation regarding our phone conversation on suspension, I sent 3-4 emails all with weeks gaps, no one replied. It’s a 2 min email reply! I called in to ensure no penalty fees charged and that I can sort it out end of suspension, David said all good. Then suddenly I’m slapped with $115.80 overdue payment. Will NEVER recommend FF again.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym, the staff is very friendly, the facilities are great and it has a relaxation zone with sauna and steam room.
Negative experience: Do not go to this gym or the Walker street gym as it may be under the same management. There are better ones out there. The staff and overall culture is disappointing and needs to be managed out. There a a few PTs that don’t know what customer service is and have a staring problem. That wouldn’t happen elsewhere as you’d get humbled very quickly. Some of the PTs look like they need a PT. They do not care for their own customers. They do not supervise their form correctly and have a lack of interest unless you’re a girl. The members are a different breed. They take equipment while you’re using, use multiple equipment without leaving some form of their items to show it’s taken and even hog several benches for two seperate types of exercises. Those things would get you humbled elsewhere. Go to a real gym and don’t bother signing up here. Crows nest or Chatswood has better staff and facilities and if there is a fitness first near your home move there.

Negative experience: Very disappointing. The classes are great, the gym is good and the staff is nice as long as you don't try to cancel or transfer your membership. I tried to transfer (not even cancel) my membership to someone else because I changed my job to a location where there is no Fitness First and instead to be nice and helpful, they were rude and basically told me they were too busy to help me. The manager promised me many times to call me back (as he was apparently the only one to help with a transfer) but never did. As a result, I am paying a lot of money for a place I cannot go and no one was keen to help. I know for a fact that transferring a membership is possible as I know people who did it in other locations ! So now I have to cancel my membership - which would cost me penalties! Fitness First never again !

Fantastic experience: I joined Fitness First around 2 years ago and since the it has been a great place to work-out. The gym is clean, the pieces of equipment are always well maintained and the reception staff (Chris) is very welcoming and friendly. Important to mention, I had to cancel my membership 2 weeks ago (for travelling reasons) and the process was very simple and easy. They ask a 28 days notice (which should not be a surprise if you read the contract). The entire process took me less that 5 minutes. Overall, I am very glad with the experience and would definitely recommend Fitness First to all my friends and will problem join them again when I am back. :)

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of FitnessFirst for about 20 years, sometimes going 2 or 3 times/day in my younger days. I have always found them to be friendly and as accommodating as possible to reasonable requests. They have gone beyond the call of duty for my wife and I on occasions. The instructors are all excellent practioners in their field of expertise.
Negative experience: Mate, the process for cancelling the membership is very painful, waiting for hours on the phone. And after that they have this "28 day notice" policy. I still had to pay for 2 fortnights even though I didn't want to use your gym anymore. That is pure bull$h!t. Maybe the worst experience with an Australian company that I have. Needless to say, I don't recommend this company to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, really convenient location in North Sydney and really good quality staff, especially all the PTs who are always more than happy to help with any health questions, really helps keep me motivated and on the right track
Negative experience: disappointed on all levels, tried to sign up and was quoted one price and when ready to commit quoted a much higher price. $300 more. Staff unable to answer questions and ask you to come back or speak to the manager who does not reply either. I went to both walker street and elizabeth plaza 4 times and in the end was frustrated to receive a quote much higher and it that took 25 minutes of my time. Poor communication on phone, email and in person.
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym! Love the 45min class at 12:30 everyday!
Positive experience: I currently have a Fitness First Platinum membership as well as an Anytime Fitness membership. The pump, attack and spin/rpm classes at Fitness First Elizabeth plaza are excellent (cannot fault). Even the steam room and sauna were great. Never knew what to do in the aromatherapy room.... was a weird cold room with view of a fish tank. The change rooms are clean and staff are awesome. I loved using the steam room (which hasn't been operational the last few times I’ve been there)..... could have been due to covid. There’s only two squat racks (could be 4.... can’t remember exactly) and a few chest stations. I used to love coming here pre covid, however during covid it’s a bit of a trek from home. Would have been a 5/5 if there was more equipment, more locations (especially in the West of Syd) and it was open 24hrs.

Positive experience: Ok to do the job. Needs more hammer strength equipment. No Smith machine either. No proper calf machine. Both this and Walker st. Place have incomplete set of weight training equipment. Plus they shut at 730 pm Mon. To Thursday and 7 pm on Fridays. Elizabeth st. does not open on the weekends.
Negative experience: I wish I could rate them a 0. Most unprofessional staff with extremely rude behavior. The person at the receptiom told me that he was "too busy" and hence gave me wrong details about my membership. I called them at least 4 times and physically had to go to the gym thrice to get what I needed. Definitely do not recommend
Fantastic experience: This Gym is great and their facilities are excellent. This is very popular in North Sydney during lunch time and mornings. Jeff is an excellent personal trainer I this gym. Highly recommended!!
Negative experience: My review is based on the issues with getting a membership. Came in to enquire about memberships however was on contract flairs another gym for 6 weeks was told don’t worry you can join up now and start coming and we will delay the start. I completed all the forms and the guy said he would call back to confirm the start date. Never heard back emailed the gum several times with no response. Finally got a call yesterday to say my membership is ready and started last week. I mentioned I have sent several emails the last few weeks to find this out and was told it started a week ago. I said I was not happy with this. He said someone will call me back of course no one did. So went into the gym and asked to speak with someone they told me to come back later as they were to busy. Worst experience of signing up for a membership. As it’s after the 10 day cooling off period guess I’m stuck with it now :(
Positive experience: Love this gym but it’s a real shame they’ve changed their trading hours to close at 8pm. It was a great spot for a late-night workout.

Negative experience: I used to come here for late workout and sauna, but was disappointed a few times in a row to see them turn off the sauna and steam room an hour early. This is falsely advertised on their website which makes no mention of early closure of these facilities.

Fantastic experience: My favourite Fitness First (I also go to Walker Street, Mosman and have been to a couple in Melbourne). It's not over the top and because it's in North Sydney the gym-goers are mostly people working nearby. This means that if you go a bit later it can be super quite (like Friday night). The spin classes are awesome and I travel further now just to keep going to the same classes.
