Positive experience: From the beginning, the setup of the session felt unbalanced—being seated on a low couch while the counsellor sat on an elevated chair created a subtle but clear dynamic of power imbalance. When you're already feeling vulnerable, this kind of physical positioning can unintentionally reinforce feelings of smallness and discomfort. The session opened with the question, “So what brings you here today?” While this might seem standard, it felt abrupt and impersonal. Even counsellors in training are taught to build a bit of rapport first, especially when someone is likely about to open up about sensitive, deeply personal matters. This isn't a rushed doctor's appointment—it’s a therapeutic space that should feel safe, warm, and welcoming. Finally, I couldn’t help but notice stifled yawns during the session. I understand that yawning is involuntary, but trying to hide it without acknowledging it left me feeling like I was boring or unimportant. A simple, transparent moment—like a brief apology or an explanation that it’s a nervous system response—would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel seen, safe, or heard during this session, and I won’t be returning.

Fantastic experience: I took the step to have a Personal Trainer work with me because of long standing issues with arthritis and lack of strength and fitness. I was assigned Kate after attending 2 Fitball classes run by her on Friday mornings. My insecurities are slowly melting away. Gradually I am feeling stronger and healthier. Kate has adapted sessions to suit my needs and happily shares advice and provides support and guidance across all aspects. I hope to continue with Kate for some time yet as I make good progress on my journey to an overall feeling of wellbeing. Her lovely personality and encouragement makes the sessions enjoyable

Fantastic experience: Great friendly caring staff. If on holidays in Bundaberg you are most welcome to come for however long you are in town. Prices for casual gym or membership are the best in town. You will never feel intimidated here as the staff are trained ( at the on site College which is accredited with Fitness Australia) to know about chronic illnesses and are there to help and continue helping each and every person who walks in the door.
