Fantastic experience: We are so happy we found Ako. My youngest son took an Interest in Martial Arts and the coaches are not only terrific and experienced but they make you feel at home and part of a family and everyone gets along so well. Just want say how awesome all the coaches are and. Thanks to Linzi and Robbie for running such an awesome team of people I actually think about joining myself and I will work the courage to soon I hope.

Fantastic experience: I recently embarked on a journey to rekindle my childhood passion for martial arts and lose some weight. Little did I know that my search for a training gym would lead me to AKO Martial Arts, a place that would soon become my second family. From the moment I set foot in AKO, the atmosphere exuded a sense of integrity, resilience, and growth. The Māori word “Ako,” meaning to teach and learn in a reciprocal manner, perfectly encapsulates the philosophy that drives this community. Here, both teachers and learners are respected for the knowledge they bring to the table, fostering a collective sense of purpose and belonging. All the Instructors expertise and experience in multiple martial arts disciplines, along with their passion for personal development, are evident in every class. Their encouragement and unwavering support have been invaluable on my journey to overcome physical, mental, and emotional challenges. What struck me most about AKO was the inclusivity and acceptance they embrace. As a 140kg male, I was initially apprehensive about joining a martial arts gym, fearing judgment and condescension. However, my concerns were immediately dispelled as I was warmly welcomed and never once looked down upon. The trainers and fellow members create an environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and encouraged, regardless of their background or fitness level. The gym’s offerings cater to individuals of all ages, starting from as young as 2 years old. With programs tailored for both adults and juniors, AKO ensures that the benefits of martial arts are accessible to everyone. Additionally, the schedule is accommodating, with classes spread across six days a week, making it easier to find a suitable time to train. AKO Martial Arts goes above and beyond to provide a comfortable and hygienic environment. The high-grade mats and equipment are sanitized multiple times a day, prioritizing the well-being of every member. I cannot recommend AKO enough to anyone seeking a place to learn, get fit, have fun, and lose weight. This gym is not just a training facility; it is a supportive community that uplifts and empowers its members. Fantastic experience: We started consistently taking our 5-year-old daughter to Ako Martial Arts at the start of the year and we couldn't be happier with our decision. She can be very shy at times, but she has always felt so welcomed and supported by the instructors and fellow students. Just this week she was feeling a bit shy/hesitant to participate so coach Linzi hopped on the mats to support her and gently guide her through all the moves (even though she wasn’t rostered to coach). The instructors are so knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about what they do. They take the time to explain techniques in a way that is very easy for the kids to understand while also providing individual attention and support to each student. They have struck the perfect balance of a structured class whilst allowing for so much fun and healthy competition. The focus on discipline, respect, perseverance and sportsmanship has without a doubt helped our daughter grow in resilience and confidence. We are so grateful for the Ako community and the positive impact it has had on our daughter's development. Thank you to all the instructors for their dedication and care. We highly recommend Ako to any parent looking for a safe, supportive, and engaging martial arts program for their child.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at many martial arts clubs over the last couple of decades and Ako is by far the most welcoming, positive and supportive I have experienced. It is more than a club, it is a community and a family. I highly recommend Ako to any martial artist or parent of a budding martial artist. Fantastic experience: I’d been out of BJJ for a few years and felt the need to recommit to regular practice. A recent move from Townsville to the Sandgate area prompt me to find a local club. AKO martial Arts was close to one of many coffee spots in Sandgate and offered a free trial. I spoke with Linzi, who was very understanding of my being a bit “rusty” and wanting to get back into it. I attended the intro to BJJ, intro to Nogi and the strength and conditioning classes. They were well organised challenging but manageable with adequate but not ridiculous warm ups then a warm down stretch at the end. I have continued to be impressed with the inclusive feel of the club, the quality of the instruction and my fellow BJJ practitioners. Another bonus has been the number of classes offered and have even attended two 6am classes! That’s one way to wake up in the morning. I have now joined AKO martial Arts happy to recommence my BJJ journey in such good hands.

Fantastic experience: Our 7yo girl has been in classes with the incredible team at Ako since she was almost 5. With their juniors’ classes, what Coaches Robbie and Linzi and their crew provide is a safe space for kids to learn new skills, look after their mates, play and flourish, with just the right mix of fun and discipline. Building physical strength is awesome, but the mental resilience the kids pick up that carries over into other areas of their lives is a huge win. Ako are supportive of kids (and families) at every level, both on the mats and in the community. Awesome all round, thank you!

Fantastic experience: The BJJ family here is absolutely paramount - Robbie and Linzi are the most welcoming couple you could ever meet, the facilities are second to none. I have made a wonderful bunch of friends and learned some very valuable skills that I will have for life.

Owner and head Professor Rob Paraha of AKO Martial Arts (situated at Sandgate) is very community minded and is open to and encouraging of cross training with other gyms. Today AKO offered other gym's members an opportunity to train for free. It was truly a great day of rolling with the broader BJJ Community. Fantastic experience: I am a broken old veteran and with my injuries and ptsd. I find it hard to leave home but going to AKO from one home to another I find it hard to be in crowds and around people but at AKO I feel happy and safe. With my injuries the coaches come.up with different techniques so can still do the same end game. And I am learning everyday the coaches and students all treat each other with respect and care. I would highly recommend AKO to anyone. It's not.like any other gym the coaches and students care and if your not there they ask if your ok noone else as done this for me.

Fantastic experience: I don't get down to classes often as I should/would like to, but when I do come back after extended breaks everyone always makes me feel like I've never left. The culture down there is amazing. No politics or ego's, just everyone wanting to see everyone else improve. That combined with the classes themselves and it's almost impossible to not walk out feeling better

Fantastic experience: Remember when you were 9 years old and you’d stand in a room with your friends and you’d all get bored and then start fighting each other? That’s what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is like except now you get to learn cool moves and wear boss-like outfits. And guess what? Sandgate Infinity is the premier place to learn BJJ in all of Brisbane’s Northern Beaches. 10/10 would recommend over and over again.

Robbie & Linzi have created an environment that encourages community and is family friendly. So friendly that my partner now trains as well as I and our 16 month old son will be hitting that mats very shortly! Definitely recommend to anybody who wants to improve their mental and physical health! 11/10

Fantastic experience: I can not speak highly enough of Infinity Sandgate and would 100% recommend it to anyone of any age or background looking to start a martial art or just join a more practical local gym where community and support is at the heart of the culture. Robbie is superb and breaks things down Into steps but also explains the theory and mechanics behind it. The class structure is really well thought out with great practical help as you drill the technique but also a chance to roll with awesome people of all levels who all want to see you succeed and learn. The environment is warm and friendly with nothing intimidating to make you feel like it was a mistake walking in. It’s so good I even started taking my little lad to Koalas class and he loves it.

Fantastic experience: I could write so many things about why this is a great place to train, but the thing that sums it up best for me is the Saturday morning family class - kids and adults having fun, great vibe, and legit technique. Fantastic experience: After suffering from depression after having my first baby, my partner urged me to get on the mats and give it a go. 8 months of that nagging, I was on the mats and didn’t want to get off. I’ve now had another baby and was lucky enough to be surrounded by such amazing coaches and team mates that I was able to train until I was 24 weeks pregnant (safely). I then jumped on the mats again as soon as I was allowed post baby & Covid. None of this would have been possible without the whole family down at Infinity Sandgate. The support and guidance is above and beyond. Our almost 3 year old son now also does the Koala classes and cries when we drive past the gym and he doesn’t get to go in - if that doesn’t say anything about how great this place is, I’m not sure what will.

Fantastic experience: I have been with infinity and instructor Robbie for over two years now and I have 3 children in jiu-jitsu class who are 6,5 and 2 years old. We train most days and my kids love it. It's no problem to get them in the car after school to go. My two year old won't take off his uniform lol. There is nothing better than watching your children grow as people and watching instructor Robbie give them a life skill they will never forget. We are a family we are infinity #bleedorange
