Fantastic experience: This gym is expensive, but the classes are good and the floors and amenities are clean and well taken care of (unlike their Zetland location!) Professional and friendly staff. They fit a lot in this small space and the gym has 6 floors. I’ve only tried boxing and Pilates here and all instructors have been great. I love that they have sound baths and a balcony for outdoor stretching and solo hand weights too. The space downstairs has a nice seating area to socialize after class.

Fantastic experience: Great gym spread over multiple levels. Super clean and has modern equipment. The gym floor areas are smaller but still have all the main equipment. This is an ideal gym if you want to go to classes as there is lots on offer and an easy booking system. Reformer and yoga classes are great and instructors are nice. Jenn (sales manager) is excellent, very helpful and knowledgable.

Negative experience: Never pick the phone

Negative experience: The staff at the front desk were lovely, but for the premium gym as the brand it, absolute rip off. I go to the zetland one and it’s cheaper and has more equipment and amenities, definitely not transferring to the bondi junction one, even tho I’ve now moved to the area( will still drive to zetland one), virgin should feel ashamed for the price they charge for the smallest least equiped gym floor I’ve ever seen .zetland gym and pit street one way better for the price with so much more
Fantastic experience: Gunes. She is amazing person and the best pt. I had pt from her for a year. Working as a massage therapist helped her relieve her chronic shoulder pain. After PT, I left to in Australia , but she told me everything about how to exercise in the future. Thank you so much. Gunes! I miss you!!!!
Fantastic experience: Awesome classes and class schedule. Everyone who works here makes my day. I’m so passionate about fitness now with all the motivating and experienced trainers here.
Negative experience: Virgin Bondi Junction is average compared to the other units. This gym is OK but there isn’t anything special about it. Some classes are GREAT but the good ones got fully booked quickly. GYM/weight area is a joke. There is no enough space for everyone or equipment. If you are able to go to the other units this membership worth the price otherwise think twice.

Negative experience: I tried the grid for the first time and the coach was very unhelpful I was completely lost about the exercises and she saw me lost and she didn’t even come to help me or anything. I’ll never come back again!
Fantastic experience: I tried out a Cycle class here which was fantastic - great music, energy and air conditioning! However, the highlight of my visit was the service and attention I received from Dylan. He took the time to show me all the features of the club and listened patiently to my needs. He was honest, professional and kind. Dylan is an asset to the club.
Fantastic experience: From the moment I reached out with an inquiry; Jenni-Leigh Koroneos demonstrated an impressive level, professionalism, knowledge and attentiveness. She’s goes above and beyond and always gets it’s done. She takes so much pride in her work and is so commited to ensuring her customers feel like they get a first class service. Jenn has really stood out and I personally think she has the best customer service I’ve experienced. Aside from being super friendly and genuine, her help has made me feel like a valued customer throughout and her way is really refreshing! Positive experience: Beautiful and clean facilities. Great service. However, not suitable for people looking for a "real gym". This location is purely focused on classes, plenty of choices from yoga to boxing but crowded classes.
Negative experience: It is a like a flat with three machines and they call it premium It is a scam and the club staff is freaking rude
Negative experience: Honestly the worst experience I could ever have with a gym. I’m glad I work out for a long time, because if this one was my first class I would cry and leave. I did a GRID trial class and the coach was so cocky and rude, I wanted to abandoned the class straight away, told him on the same tone “ did you realise I’ve never came here ?” He “ I can tell “ he changed his behaviour a bit afterwards but I was sold to not come back anymore. First impressions are everything, and you HAVE TO be a personal ppl to coach ppl. Thanks but no, afterwards this place is SUPER overpriced for nothing. The gym in my building has more equipments then here.

Negative experience: The weights area is so tiny and there are not many pieces of equipment. There is always broken equipment and only one machine for each exercise (if so). There is not enough space or enough equipment. This gym is very overpriced for what you get. On the positive, the classes are good, but if you are looking to do weight training this is NOT your gym.

Negative experience: I reckon management thinks this club is at Bondi Beach, not Bondi Junction. Despite being much smaller and having literally nothing that Pitt St or other nearby clubs don’t have, it’s badged as “premium”. The facilities are nice but nothing more than you’d expect from a Virgin Active and, awkwardly, nobody says anything on check-in yet they send you an email that makes it sounds like they did you a favour letting you workout there. If they did away with the “premium” facade it’d be a solid spot for Virgin members to workout.

Our Bondi Junction club is certainly laid out differently with a real focus on group exercise hence a smaller gym floor offering to our neighboring club on Pitt Street. Negative experience: The staff are friendly and there is a wide variety of classes available. The change rooms are always clean but for some reason freezing. The gym itself is tiny, as others have mentioned the weight section is really small with only one of each machine. It’s very annoying when you want to use the weight machines as more often than not someone is doing a circuit and has left a towel or bottle on a machine so they can keep going back to it. Once I was even asked by a personal trainer if I could get off the machine because their client needed to use it. Which was extremely rude and made me feel really uncomfortable. There’s nowhere to do warm up or cool down stretches as the area that you could lay a matt down almost always has someone hogging the space doing free weights. All in all, the gym isn’t worth the premium price.

Negative experience: Real vibe that they don’t care about their members. This is a gym that wants you locked into a contract but not using the facilities, which are tiny. The class sizes are super limited and basically impossible to book into with any regularity, and it’s so squashed using free weights it feels uncomfortable. Booking system is an absolute punish and there’s clearly no intention of making it user friendly.

Fantastic experience: First timer at Virgin active! Opting for the Spirit Cycle with Chloe. I’ve only done one spin class in my life and was nervous prior, Chloe’s calming and enthusiastic persona was a breath of fresh air. The class itself was challenging yet tailored to differing levels, who knew “body rolling” on a bike was a thing! Thank you Virgin and thank you Chloe!

Fantastic experience: Cycle Spirit with Chloe was the best class I’ve ever been to. As a beginner, Chloe was so welcoming and encouraging. A fantastic sweat and so much fun with the freedom to dance and enjoy myself. Will definitely be back ASAP - couldn’t rate it highly enough!

Negative experience: I’ve always been a huge fan of Virgin Active, but this location is way over priced and very small. It was an odd choice of location in the junction and given its size. Live nearby, but I trek to Pitt street mall where it’s a much better fee and gym.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Virgin Active for about 10 years, including Pitt Street, Margaret St and now Bondi. I have always enjoyed the relaxed, cheerful vibe, as well as the quality of the clubs in terms of the helpful staff, equipment, classes and amenities. My main reason for remaining a member is personal training. I have trained with Vita for that whole period and he has seen me through multiple injuries, surgery, pregnancy and helping me regain my fitness post-lockdown. I appreciate the care he takes to individualise my program through all those periods of change and support my goals and health. I am much stronger and fitter for the years I have spent training. And I enjoy each sessions - we laugh a lot - even during the cardio ones.
Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic gym with excellent equipment and amazing staff. All of the classes are great. I absolutely love yoga, boxing and Pilates. Siri has a really great Grid class and Evangelique has a beautiful yoga practice. The gym floor is quite small compared to other Virgin gyms and can become crowded. I would recommend using it off peak! Generally, the front desk staff are helpful and friendly.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to Virgin Active gyms for years and I think Bondi Junction is my favourite. The facilities are lovely, the instructors are fantastic, and there are a bunch of classes available at all times. I’ve been having PT sessions with Sarah for the last few months and have learnt so much about weight training and improving my form. Love this place - it’s the highlight of my mornings!
Fantastic experience: Good gym! On the higher end $$ but worth it in other aspects. Handy being a member at the junction but able to access all clubs. Dane is the best PT in there + Tegan runs the best boxing class. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I recently joined after having Aaron show me around and so far I am absolutely loving the club experience here. He wasn’t lying about the range of classes - I’ve since discovered a love for boxing - and I love that it’s smaller than my previous gyms which gives me less anxiety about working out in a super crowded space. The ammenities here are also so luxe, and that in combination with the variety of classes available makes working out here great value for money too.

Fantastic experience: I am a long time member of Virgin gyms, from Melbourne city, Pitt St, Margaret St and now Bondi Junction and Virgin gyms are always a class above the normal gym experience. Bondi Junction is no expection, from the equipment, amenities and friendly staff which I have come to expect from Virgin Active. But my main reason for choosing Virgin over the multitude of other options available is the quality and professionalism of their PT trainers. I’ve been having weekly personal training sessions with Vita for over 10 years and he has made such a tremendous impact on my overall fitness and mental health. There have been many times where I have been tired and unmotivated to go to the gym but I have my PT session booked so I go in for my session and he always tailors the sessions to my needs and gently pushes me to do better every session. Its never been about the numbers or reps I can do ( even though I have become so much stronger) but more for my general wellbeing and mental health and thats when a great personal trainer can make all the difference.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined the gym here. I had Aaron reach out and he was super helpful in getting me started. He set me up with a free class where the trainer there was very accomodating. He also helped me find the best membership pack for me which included a session with a PT, George, who was very helpful in guiding me through a weekly program I can stick to. Would recommend virgin active to anyone looking for great service in a gym.

Negative experience: Before sharing the reason for the 1 star, I'd like to provide some context. I am a premium member which gives me access to all locations. I primarily use the Pitt Street mall location - the staff there; are super stars, very friendly and above all respectful. On the other hand, the staff at the Bondi Junction club are; at "best" indifferent. I would like to share the unpleasant experience behind my 1 star review.... Whilst in the middle of my personal yoga practice in the mind & body room, a staff member barged in and lectured me about not using the room on my own, due to safety concerns, using a very self-righteous tone. I raised a couple of reasons which led to me believe that I was allowed to practice in the room ( which I will share in the next paragraph). Nevertheless, he allowed me to finish my practice. When I left the club, I turned around and saw him and another staff member at the reception laughing at me. I felt this attitude was very unprofessional and not aligned to the Virgin brand. Other things to note: (1) I only recently started using the mind & body rooms on my phone due to the class timetables not currently working for me. But I had actually asked a staff member at the Pitt Street location who said that I was allowed to use the rooms. (2) On the same day that I got reprimanded for using the mind and body room at Bondi Junction, I crossed path with the yoga teacher who had just finished teaching a class. She too, said that I was welcome to use the mind and body room for my own practice. Therefore, I can therefore deduct that she also was not aware of this "safety rule". (3) I had a look in the "club rules" sheet that came with my contract. I cannot see any rule pertaining to not being allowed to using the mind and body room "outside of classes hours". If this rule was unique to the Bondi Junction location, then it should be clearly communicated to members and put on walls/doors, and not just expect them to know. (4) Lastly, I thought it was quite ironic to have been lectured about safety by this staff member when he barged into the room while I was performing a shoulder stand - I could have lost my balance; which could have caused injury. While I understand the reason behind the 'safety concern', the way the staff member handled the entire situation was very poor. Laughing at me after I had left the club ( I turned around) , is not ok. The staff at this location needs more training. Having said, I had limited positive experiences at this location, like the staff member who once offered to watch over my electric skateboard at the reception. But these kind of experiences are extremely rare at the Bondi Junction club. After feeling this humiliated, I will never visit this location ever again. If someone is monitoring this account and would like to 'validate' this review. You can verify my membership under my first name, which is Richard. Edit 09/09/2022: it's been 4 weeks since management was supposed to contact me, still have not heard from them. I am suspecting that management was probably involved in this poor behaviour... I might have to contact head office.

Negative experience: Incredibly small, awkward and uncomfortable gym with the smallest amount of available floor space, more like a hotel gym than a "platinum" Virgin Active. Limited equipment. Nowhere to lay down a mat without being in everyone's way. And they don't allow you use EMPTY classrooms even if there is no class scheduled, for no good reason. And the tiny outdoor area is often blocked off. Really disappointed and looking forward to changing to Elixir or Fitness First. Would have helped if the staff was at least friendly but no, they are rude.

Negative experience: Ridiculously small and yet overpriced gym, the staff are confused and not helpful at all. The only good class was boxing. Definitely not recommended! And when I decided to leave, they wanted me to pay fees, even though I am not locked in the contract… what a joke.

Negative experience: Nicely decked out but the floor space on each level is TINY. If gym is busy, youll have to navigate around people working out and wait around for machine access at a 'platinum' gym. Even though i'm right next to this particular Virgin location I mostly end up travelling to the Moore Park location. Virgin if you're reading this, you need a bigger gym in Bondi for the number of people you have attending.
Fantastic experience: Attended Aston’s cycle burn class on the weekend. Being my first class Aston showed me the ropes and made me feel super comfortable right from the start. Such a great facility with friendly staff. Aston made me feel so motivated to workout and was constantly interacting with everyone in the class. Would recommend going to ANY of Aston’s classes!
Negative experience: Incredible rude staff in the reception. Her name is Lindsay. Last year I got many issues with her, without to know anything about me, she hate to see me there, I have to change to do my work out in Moore Park to avoid this bad situation. I have written 2 complaints, without any answer, finally when I speak about this with the staff in Moore Park they helped me to have the contact with the manager Anna, who is useless. I have a PT in Bondi with 3 sessions less already paid. The manager doesn't know how to fix this situation. Terrible manners from this peasant who can control her emotions. Good luck!
Positive experience: Virgin is a great gym and financially makes a lot of sense when you want an all in one package out of a gym experience. However, second the sentiment of other reviewers, rude staff when you want to cancel. Was also asked a number of questions for my reason for cancellation. Actually, no one needs to give them an explanation, at all. As a pregnant woman not wanting to work out in the peak of Covid I had requested to be put on freeze. Was reverted back to full price, for who knows what reason, and when requesting a refund they refused. Pretty simple fix to leave customers without a sour taste in their mouths about the experience. But they refused. Really don’t think they should even be forcing people to pay $30 every 4 weeks to keep their membership on freeze when Covid is still so problematic. Felt a bit seedy... just ended up paying the $300 cancellation fee so that I don’t have to be locked in to a membership that I have to pay for and can’t use. Negative experience: The gym itself is lovely and clean. Quite small but good for classes. I had a good experience there however, when I went to cancel my membership due to financial reasons and shift changes (the classes didn’t line up with my shifts) I had an awful experience. I felt like I was being interrogated about why I am leaving and questioned about what time my shifts end and that there are classes that I can make (even though I said I don’t want those ones) so my reason doesn’t make sense to him. He went through my class history and said I hasn’t gone to enough classes to know that I want to leave and I need to commit more. It was super awkward and drawn out and the man didn’t seem to want to take no for an answer. I understand they need to keep members but it has put me off re joining again
Fantastic experience: Clean gym, good facilities and friendly staff
Positive experience: Very very small. They also didn't make good decisions about the weight lifting equipment. They don't have a smith machine. They have a very basic setup. Their focus seems to have been towards pilates, yoga and cardio. The place of modern and bright, but disappointingly small

Negative experience: I’ve had amazing experience in Virgin Active, across most of the gyms. Classes structure and trainers are great. However, I’m so disappointed with staff customer service in Bondi Junction they aren’t willing to listen and friendly at all.

Negative experience: It is a an ok gym, just ok, not as brilliant as they think. They charge my credit card as they wish (as long as they are happy I guess, that all matters) and I get charged $4 to “hire” a towel. Of course they also charge my credit card extra for using a small towel during the workout, a little good side business for them. When I asked why do you charge me extra, I already pay for hiring towels? The response from the duty manager was, you have to pay extra each time you use a towel or you cannot use the club. Awaiting the club manager to give me a call and discuss.

Negative experience: Gym floor is tiny and always overbooked. Impossible to get into classes any morning of the week. Booking system opens at 8.00pm each night, by 8.01pm everything is fully booked. They say its Covid related but then don't allow Covid related cancellations. Find a PT instead.

Negative experience: While the gym facilities itself are great, the support staff aim to mislead and overcharge wherever possible and refuse to acknowledge when they have made a mistake. They will say anything to make you sign up but are intentionally unhelpful in resolving any problems once you have signed your contract.

Fantastic experience: VIRGIN ACTIVE IS IN A CLASS OF ITS OWN!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!! As a former member of Fitness First for 14 years, making the transition to Virgin Active, was by far the best life changing decision I have ever made. Love everything about VA and what it has to offer. The staff at reception are so helpful and informative and you are always greeted with a warm smile. Even when walking through the gym to get to your class, it's actually a breath of fresh air and kinda nice that the instructors in general will actually acknowledge you and say hello in passing. With the various VA'S in the Sydney CBD and Bondi Junction, fits in nicely for me with Living in Bondi and working in the CBD, there isn’t a day that I willingly miss a workout/group sesh. Love the range of group sessions, and the fact of how many of one type of group sesh they have in one given day AWESOME!!! Instructors are highly motivated and encouraging with so much enthusiasm, they definitely know there S#*t!!!!! Taking into consideration the current Covid Climate, VA Your methods of approach to cleaning, sanitizing, maintain social distancing in the group classes ON POINT, 100 STAR RATING!!

Negative experience: Weight area is tiny with very limited equipment and space. Guess the gym is good for classes such a cycling and boxing. Not as good as Moore park or CBD gym.
Fantastic experience: I wanted to share what a fantastic yoga class I had with Joel C at the virgin Active Bondi Junction Club. The class was challenging and he encouraged everyone in the room to give their best. As a yoga teacher it is essential to mind your ego and acknowledge the fact that sometimes your students can do certain poses better than you. I'm so grateful to have met a true yogi after so long in Bondi. Thank you for sharing your experience and hope to see you more often in the Bondi Club. Positive experience: Great to have a virgin gym in the eastern suburbs, much easier commute than Moore park on public transport, bike or driving. The club is mainly classes with a small gym floor. I still prefer the collection club at Barangaroo more but there is great variety of classes to check out at Bondi!

Negative experience: Very very disappointed in Virgin active a complete wastes of the space . This is nothing like the Virgin active I know . They have just opened another gym in Bondi just for classes and not somewhere you can go and have the full Virgin active experience . Complete waste of time

Fantastic experience: Had a boxing class in the morning and I have ever had so effective 45 minute boxing class before! The Instructor was professional and encouraged everyone to give their best. Also the staff at the reception was kind and helpful :)

Fantastic experience: I attended the Reformer 6am class this morning(i think it was one of there very first classes) and the place is awesome. The staff are incredibly fantastic, the facilities are state of the art and they are definitely living up to the high standards that the Virgin Brand sets. Well done guys, great job.

Fantastic experience: Well oiled operation that is used in other Virgin Active clubs. Tried out the GRID class this morning and satisfied that that the instructor has rehearsed and practiced prior to club opening. There hasn't been any problem in change room where sometimes there can be unexpected teething issues or bottlenecks when lots rush to get changed around 8am before heading to work. It's good to see that things has run smoothly on Monday morning peak time. Happy to come back and try out other classes when visiting Bondi Junct, outside the usual Margaret/Bligh Street base.

Negative experience: I have never seen such unfriendly terms for pausing memberships. You can't go on vacation any time and pause your membership – you have to align it with their billing cycles (e.g. if you leave on the 13th, you might only be able to pause your membership from the 19th). On top of that, there is a 2 week minimum AND an admin fee (over 20% of your weekly membership fee). AND there is a maximum time you can freeze for. Just hope you don't get injured or pregnant – it's extortion, really.

We know our policy of aligning our membership freezes to billing cycles can be frustrating for some, but we do it for a number of reasons in order to protect the members from billing issues that would arise otherwise.
