Fitness First Bondi Spring St Platinum: Opinions
Negative experience: New equipment and layout is good but I can't believe the boxing bags have gone and they are not going to be reinstated. It was the sole reason I joined fitness first. Also just saw another review saying the bag has gone from Kings Cross too??? What's going on??
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you’re enjoying the new equipment and layout. We will certainly pass on your comments regarding the boxing bags to the team. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and thank you for being a valued member.
Fantastic experience: The changes are amazing! The space feels so much bigger now, allowing you to add at least two abdominal crunch machines. It’s incredible that such a nice gym doesn’t have one. However, I’m always disappointed because my card never works, and no one seems able to sort it out. As a result, I feel like an intruder when I want to work out on days when there’s no staff to check my card. It really makes me feel ashamed.
Hi Ricardo. YAY! We love to hear that you find the new changes amazing Sorry to hear about your card. If you'd like to reach out to us via social media, we can ensure the Club Manager assists you on your next visit?
Negative experience: I signed a contract with Fitness First in August. The contract was for three months, costing $41.59 per week, with access to all branches. I initially signed up at the Randwick club, but a month later, I moved, and the closest gym to me became Bondi Junction (Spring Street), which I’ve been attending since. For months, I haven’t visited other locations, except for one time when I was forced to due to the Spring Street branch being closed for renovations. Despite this, I kept paying $41.59 per week—an incredibly high price for what this gym offers—because I wanted to honor my commitment. My contract ended last month, so last Wednesday (04/12), I went to the Spring Street reception to inquire about lowering my plan’s cost, as I’m only using this branch and see no reason to pay such a high fee. However, the receptionist showed no willingness to assist. She merely told me I had to go to my home branch (Randwick) for any changes regarding my plan because she couldn’t help. I explained that going to Randwick is very inconvenient for me, but she reiterated that there was nothing she could do. I then asked if I could cancel my plan instead. She informed me that Fitness First requires a 30-day notice for cancellations (which I find outrageous but accepted). When I said I wanted to proceed with the cancellation, she told me it must be done via email. I asked for the email address to send the request, and she again told me I’d need to contact Randwick to obtain that information! Honestly, this is absurd. So I pay nearly $42 weekly to attend the gym of my choice, but I can only receive assistance at one specific branch? And if I want to cancel my plan, I need to give a 30-day notice via email—an email I can only obtain by going to Randwick? This is outright neglect towards customers. Before posting this publicly, I tried contacting them through the app (screenshot below). I’m still waiting for a response. One final note: I know many people who also train at Fitness First with access to all branches but pay much less than I do—around $24 weekly. Be cautious when this company offers you a plan and claims it’s the best option.

Negative experience: I joined Fitness First Spring Street Bondi Junction Platinum back in August 2024 and I signed up to 12 month membership. Since the 11th November this gym has been closed and I’ve been told to go to the Westfield Bondi Junction fitness first which is not the same gym. It is not a 24/7 gym and instead of the number of users for just 1 gym, you’ve crammed 2 gym’s worth in. I’ve also since found out that this will also be the case from the 31st January 2025 in which the Westfield gym will close permanently. I therefore requested to cancel my membership because I was not told Spring Street would be closed for 3 weeks nor would the Westfield members be coming to the Spring St gym from the 31st January when I signed up in August. If so I never would have signed up in the first place. I was told on the phone that because I signed up to a 12 month membership there is a $245 cancellation fee. I requested this to be waived because I am cancelling due to: 1. Not currently getting what I signed up for as per above since 11th November and 2. I will not be getting what I signed up for from 31st January. The person on the phone said I need to email Jemima the club manager to request this. I emailed the club manager Jemima to please cancel my membership and waive the $245 membership fee in addition to refunding what I have paid since 11th November as I have not been getting what I signed up for however I received a poor excuse saying: “In August, no renovations had been confirmed or communicated with staff, hence we could not inform members of any closures or plans for renovations.” “However, if you wish to cancel, the early exit fee of $245 is not waivable unless it was due to medical reasons.” No mention of the Westfield Bondi gym closing in addition to completely ignoring the whole point of owning and running a gym which is users just want to become healthy, strong and train with like minded individuals. I just can’t believe the complete lack of understanding and genuine customer service from what used to be such a well known franchise brand. I have already mentioned this to numerous people who have told me they would not be signing up and will also cancel their membership but I will leave this 1 star review on here as a reminder to all potential future users as to the gym they would be dealing with, unless I am contacted, waived and refunded what I am rightfully owned.

Negative experience: Gym was closed on 10 November. Signs indicated that gym would be open until 11 November. Thanks for wasting my time and costing me a parking fee.
Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the inconvenience you experienced. We will look into this matter to ensure clear communication regarding our gym hours. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and thank you for your understanding.
Negative experience: I was looking for a gym to join the membership, but the person working at the reception was very unfriendly. I even asked her to explain about other membership, but she asked me to come next time because she didn't know much about it, but I think this doesn't make sense! The other gyms explained it very hard and they were kind, but I don't think it was here..
Negative experience: This place is just disgusting , machines and sauna doesn’t work i did try to quit my membership from the first day literally and they trying to to robbed me 245$ for a service they didn’t give me , if you think in get a membership first read about they scam in google , they doesn’t care about customers , just care about take your money. I feel like a idiot because iam on a spiral what i don’t know how to come out and because i didn’t read all the complaints from people online and i can say they have thousands, anyway if you thinking in get a membership just don’t they go to scammed you

Negative experience: Do not waste your time going at 6 am. It is always closed and the staff are allowed to arrive late. Unless you have a 24/7 card.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Angelica. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the club not opening as scheduled at 6 am. This is not the experience we strive to provide. We'll address this with our team. If you’d like more information on accessing the club 24/7, feel free to reach out, and we’d be happy to assist you. We hope to see you back soon!
Fantastic experience: Yes, I like the gym when it’s quiet so I can enjoy my training sessions. The good is that it’s open 24 for hours.
That's great Fernando, we are glad you've found a routine that works for you!
Positive experience: It is Decent gym, love the stretching and cardio area. It is not too crowded what make it easy to follow a training program. Only problem is that the building is old and must of the time the toilets are smelly.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoy the stretching and cardio areas and find the gym not too crowded. We apologise for the issues regarding smell. We will address this feedback to ensure a better experience for our members. Your input is valuable, and we appreciate your patience as we work on improvements.
Positive experience: Great gym, sadly a few pieces of broken equipment

Fantastic experience: Josh has been my personal trainer for three years and he is the best! Josh started training me when I was 14 years old, at the time I was skinny andI had no muscle. At first I had no idea what it was like to be in a gym environment but Josh helped me every step of the way I am now 17 and Josh has made me so much stronger and has helped me reached my fitness goals. Josh has not only transformed my physical strength but has been a significant influence and role model throughout my fitness journey. His guidance and support have truly made a difference in my life I am now studying Fitness and Josh is my mentor. Josh is always positive and has a good sense of humour which makes training with him fun. I highly recommend Josh.
Hello Milana, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are so happy to hear that you have enjoyed your training with Josh and have made some really incredible progress. Well done, keep up the great work! We love having you as part of our fitness community! Off the back of your kind words about Josh, we will be nominating him for our internal employee recognition program! Thank you & good luck with your studies, we can't wait to see what the future holds for your fitness journey!
Negative experience: Went to use the 24/7 Fitness First at Bondi Junction. Website says it's open but upon arrival the gym was closed for 24/7 access. Update your site so that people do not waste their time.
Hello Nirai, we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, we encountered an unforeseen power outage last Sunday. We completely understand your frustration.
Negative experience: Thieves !!!!!!! I've never seen anything like that. I have return my membership card for 2 months knowing that I have to pay 1 month's notice following the end of my notice they reopened my account without my consent and ask me to pay and they take in my accounts when I have a minium 10 aud in my cart account and harass me so that I pay. I left the country but when I come back I sue them if he doesn't stop harassing me for false information and taking in my account
We're very sorry to hear about your experience. We take your concerns seriously and will investigate this matter thoroughly. If you could reach out to us on social media, we can take a look into your account. We are unable to find a member under this name. Rest assured; we'll ensure that appropriate actions are taken to address the situation. Your feedback is important to us, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Negative experience: A shout out to the two gorgeous, helpful, friendly, young ladies on reception. Nothing is a problem for Alicia and Bella, always smiling and polite. What a joy, thank you Sat 4 May Spring St is supposed to be 24/7, go to gym at 9pm, note on door "closed" no text messages to members to alert us of the closure. Dear Owner you asked if there was anything you could do to get me to raise my rating from 2, well this didn't help, so now I've rated you 1 Another shout out to gorgeous Bella at reception, always so lovely and welcoming, so pleasant and helpful. TV's on treadmills haven't been working for at least 3 weeks, any update?
Thank you for this feedback, Leanne. We are pleased to hear that you've had a great experience with Alicia and Bella. If there's anything we can do to lift your review from a 2/5 to a 5/5 - please let us know!
Negative experience: I’ve been going to this gym for about 2 years before realising just how bad and unkept it is. The amount of personal trainers running around is just offsetting especially when they are chatting with clients and not using the equipment. You would think with them working there they would help put away weights but they don’t even do it for themselves. It’s an old gym that needs maintenance and new management. The people at the front desk are friendly but the personal trainers are obnoxious, especially that one guy who’s constantly touching and making out with his client.
Negative experience: This is the worst gym I have ever been to. Equipment is old and often broken (with no intention to be fixed) and it’s made worse by the fact that most other gym users don’t respect it either (weights are everywhere, good luck trying to find matching dumbbells) and the staff don’t do much to keep it neat either (I’ve had to ask reception to restock the sanitiser wipes after they were empty for days). It’s a shame, Fitness First used to be good but this branch is horrible, save your time and money and go elsewhere!
Negative experience: Mediocre gym. It only has two bench presses, and one has been broken for almost a year. The gym smells really bad and it’s really hard to find the weights you need as they are all over the place. Dodgy with payments. I wouldn’t recommend going there.
Negative experience: Worst gym I’ve ever signed up to.
Negative experience: Antiquated equipment and fitout. While the staff are extremely professional, friendly and fun, the fitout and ambiance of this specific fitness first are atrocious. Here are a few main issues with this gym: Almost all of the ceiling panels have stains from water leaks Most of the equipment squeaks or is broken There are not enough weights to fill the racks The TVs have a LOT of burn in The AC does not work very well (there is a fan coil unit on the top level that does not seem to work) There is exposed wiring where ceiling tiles are missing There are ceiling grilles that are almost falling out of the ceiling The stairs which everyone uses to go up and down between the levels has a heavy sewerage smell, that has apparently been a problem for nearly 10 years A lot of the storage locker doors in the men’s change room do not work or are missing The showers and shower heads are very old and some are leaking. The bathroom ceiling tiles are wet from inadequate ventilation. Lift doesn’t work All in all, I’d expect better from a fitness first platinum, it would be great if this facility were upgraded to look like the facility in the main Westfield centre. Avoid this gym if you can, although the personal trainers and staff are excellent in every way, and definitely deserve better. They are the only reason to go to this gym.
Fantastic experience: I’ve had great experiences at a lot of the classes over the past few months in Bondi junction. Miri is my favourite instructor for Barre Attack and Pilates. Yoga and body pump are also fun! I always feel properly challenged and stronger. Instructors give excellent advice, share loads of information, guidance and exercise intensity options:) I try to go at least four times a week but honestly, one class feels like the weeks money worth thank you
Negative experience: I received a free trial session for 1 hour. There are 4 levels mostly accessed by staircase by gym users. The 3rd equipment level = 4th floor has weights, cross trainers, fixed staircase, bench presses, etc and a parquet floor classroom with a few rubber mats. I was received politely but not shown around so I went exploring. The few members to whom I spoke were friendly and helpful. The women’s change rooms were tidy and clean. A broken toilet set should have had the stall door closed with a sign on it. The staircases were dirty, chipped paintwork, low wattage lighting. The equipment rooms had no sanitised towels left in any of the several dispensers. Carpet tiles were curled at the edges. Only one set of dumbbells to be found. A couple of sets of disc weights were available. Wall paint shabby and dark. The classroom had not been (ever?) vacuumed at the edges. There were black rubber crumbs where a few too-worn yoga/Pilates mats hung. The classes might be great, but the environment is shabby, old, worn and uninviting with receptionists in an unlit cave.
Negative experience: That’s completely disgusting. NEVER HAVE wipes available at the gym while the reception has always two workers doing nothing!
Negative experience: The gym consistently faces issues with its machines being out of service for days, making it difficult to have a productive workout. The broken floor has persisted for months. All material is old and the gym is dirty and a mess. There's a need for improved maintenance, organization, and daily cleaning to enhance the overall gym experience.
Negative experience: Most pretentious gym I've been too, terrible customer service and unprofessional staff
Negative experience: A lot of machines are out of order, the gym is a mess, many dumbbells and disks out of place.
Negative experience: Accusing my partner of letting people into the gym with him at 9pm after a day of driving. All he was looking for was a moment of silence and a good mental health workout. There was no proof provided, no consideration that they might have it wrong, untouchable head office service, slow generic replies and a fine for him to deal with. A fitness first specccial
Negative experience: Don't bother, run down and falling apart. As you can see from the picture been like this for over 12 months.
Fantastic experience: Rami N, the pilates instructor is amazing. Super attentive. Great work.
Negative experience: Terrible customer/membership support. I cancelled my membership 5 months ago, then 1 month ago direct debits started to come out again, staff keep playing the blame game on each other and still no resolution or expected refund date has been provided, and in that time another payment has come out.
Negative experience: I can’t find 2 of the same dumbbells to save my life. PTs are rude, taking over machines for their clients without even asking. The bench I used was super stinky too.. such a bad experience
Positive experience: Please please get another lat pull-down machine. There’s always like 5 people waiting for it and there’s only 1 machine. Thanks.
Positive experience: The gyms ok , in terms of location it’s ideal . It’s not big enough for the amount of people needs to be over 2 floors . And needs a major upgrading . I go to Bond Street also and the difference is immense .
Fantastic experience: Great PT experience. Want to acknowledge PT Jess who was really knowledgeable, encouraging, and made the sessions enjoyable (and challenging enough!).
Fantastic experience: Really amazing experience
Negative experience: Always ridiculously busy, very messy, weights are never on the racks. Bondi junction needs bigger FF’s or another gym to accommodate the amount of people in and around the area.
Fantastic experience: Just like the old times, back to the place where I lost 70+kg, now I'm back to tone and build a bit more
Negative experience: I was informed that at 24 weeks pregnant I could do reformer so I joined. I later learnt that I could not do reformer due to the classes excluding pregnant women over 16 weeks. I attempted to cancel multiple times and my request was ignored (probably to drag out time by a couple of months). I strongly advise not to join any Fitness First's based on their unconsciousable conduct.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and environment
Positive experience: Great gym, visited Wednesday 5th Oct. Took the BodyJam class, Ella the instructor is full of energy and so welcoming! I'm not exactly fit or coordinated but she gave me confidence and was encouraging. The only downside were the main two people working the front desk. There was a third bloke off to the side who didn't look impressed with their behaviour either. Everything else is great. Just a bit sad the first two faces I saw weren't the best representation for the gym.
Positive experience: Great gym, great patrons. I prefer this fitness first over the Westfield gym. Music could be alot better. Can't get that pump on listening to music with no beats
Negative experience: Terrible service and dodgy about membership payments in more than one way. Hard to stop them to keep charging you, even after following all procedures, emailing them with 30 days in advance as they ask me. Still not only kept charging me after the date where they say it would be my last payment but also ask me for a final payment when I went to ask for a refund. I’m just don’t recommend it.
Negative experience: Appalling service from the get go. Constantly lied to by customer service, didn’t activate my card. When I called to cancel within the 7 day cooling off period I was told I would be called back. When I asked who I need to speak to and said I will come in, they transferred my straight through and spoke to the person within 10 seconds. Wierd that they made it seem like the person wasn’t available but when I say I will come into the club, they are available. Glad I cancelled (looking at other reviews I may not have cancelled and they will charge anyway) Very poor. Hoping to rejoin with kings cross as the home gym and use the other location in bondi junction.
Negative experience: My girlfriend cancel heraccount like 3 month ago and she still is getting charge, they explain a different version that the one they give us 3 month ago, carefull whit fitness first they are not good whit costumers, Jess is the manager on bondi junction, i have been here trying to get a solution and she was never here, today i can finally reach JESS and she didnt gave me any solution, terrible manager and terrible system.
Fantastic experience: Nice large open space GYM close to Sydney and great staff and awesome showers. Nice bright lights! So good!
Positive experience: Need wipes available to clean the machines after use. Please check more often as it is annoying with the covid situation rising and not be able to clean after use. Thks
Positive experience: Great gym, I enjoy going there mid morning not to busy, big open space and a good variety of equipment.I am usually the only one upstairs in the bike room. My only complaint is, and call me old, but I have noise cancelling headsets, and enjoy a good tune, some times the music is so loud it comes thru and I can't hear what I am playing without turning it up loud. I don't think it needs to be so loud and I do appreciate we all have different tastes.
Positive experience: Not the best but it does the job; can get really messy in there with weights and stuff all over the floor, couple of broken machines now and again but they do tend to get fixed fairly quick. Good range of weights and equipment. Staff are always friendly and helpful on reception. The PT’s always seem to acknowledge you and always look busy with clients. Different floors; one for weights / boxing area and another for cardio / stretching Rooms for different classes.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and a great Fitness First. I live in Darlinghurst but catch the train to workout here because it's a much better experience. The equipment is in excellent condition, the change rooms are always clean, the staff are polite, happy, and friendly and the general vibe of the place and other members is really positive.
Negative experience: keep charging me full membership even after the date of my contract has expired. After an hour wait on the phone and thought finally that has been sorted out. I found out weeks later they kept charging me again .......
Positive experience: Your average big box gym. Got everything you need, gets busy during peak and the music sucks. At least I'm ale to get a squat rack even when it's busy!
Negative experience: Well maintained, not! From the moment you walk in to the dirty entrance and then up the fowl stairwell, the scene is set. Equipment is old and most of the benches have torn pleather. The wipe dispensers are often empty. And don't get me started on the shoddy bathrooms.... They should be paying me $29/week to train at this hovel
Negative experience: Toilet seat in the female toilet has been broken for months Turn the fans on, we need ventilation.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service...have been charging me despite me cancelling months ago. Impossible to get a hold of anyone over the phone
Negative experience: NO CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER AT ALL As soon as they reopen after lockdown they charged me for the first 4 days and the costumer service is very bad… I’ve been trying to cancel my membership and they keep throwing the responsibility to each other. I have sent two emails and didn’t get any response at all… I also went to the gym and some of the staff didn’t care much about my enquire as soon I said I wanted cancel… The fun is when they want you to join, they do everything, they give you all attention, but when you wanna cancel, they pretend they cannot help… I called the costumer service and they couldn’t cancel, they said they can’t cancel because I have an ongoing contract… so what’s next? Why is it so difficult to cancel one contract?? I wouldn’t never recommend to have a contract with any fitness first I expected more from this company… I just wanna cancel my membership, it’s not that hard
Negative experience: On the 11th of Oct 2021, I was told by 2 staff members that the 24 hour access would work the next day. 12th of Oct I make my way to the gym at 4am and it was locked. Slept in my car for an hour and a half, worked out at Bondi Platinum, went back to Spring st to ask what the deal was and the girl at reception shrugged her shoulders and couldn’t tell me anything, she didn’t know what was foing on, she was as clueless as I was and she worked there. Mind you we paid extra to have 24 hour access. This is poor service and communication, i would not have mind if the staff members said it wasn’t working in the beginning then i wouldn’t have gotten up at 3:30 to make my way to the gym.
Fantastic experience: Good gym after such a long break from consistent exercise . Johnny was a good PT trainer , very approachable and assisted me through the 8 week challenge. Good equipment , clean premises ,pleasant staff . Shady ,the PT manager is also very approachable and helpful .
Negative experience: It’s the WORST gym I have ever been to Dirty broken equipment and reception staff filing their nails and on mobile phone all the time
Negative experience: I come to this gym some mornings and some after noons and there is ALWAYS with out fail equipment thrown all over the place- the kettlebells are filthy. I've been to many other platinum FF gyms and they are significantly nicer. The gym after 4pm is packed. In my opinion they should cap the number of people or get another floor.
Positive experience: I’ve been with fitness first for years. It’s not amazing but also not as bad as some people say. My fee is acceptable as I use the gym more or less daily. Facilities get upgraded here and there - again, could be better. Repairs aren’t done as quickly as I’d like and cleanliness isn’t always satisfactory. Staff are usually nice to deal with and I really like the classes. I go to about 5 clubs in rotation and they’re all more or less the same standard. No big difference between platinum and regular in my eyes.
Negative experience: Absolute joke this company. Has probably been good when it started out, half of the equipment is broken or rusted. Trying to do hip thrusts, got big hip bones, no bracing for the bar there and the „pt“ is like “do it anyway, conditions your bones haha” General vent: Why are there TVs in a gym ? What’s with oldschool equipment or at least a fully equipped gym. Damn I’m complaining so much but I can’t help it. Paying 26$ a week to be sent home because I didn’t have an “induction” for the 24/7 access which then cost me 15$ to change my red plastic card into a black plastic card.
Fantastic experience: Recently signed up, large gym with a wide range of equipment across two key floors - cardio + weights, big spaces. Nice atmosphere with a diverse clientele and friendly staff. Good changing facilities and looking forward to the 24/7 access being introduced this month.
Positive experience: This gym needs a renovation and face-lift. There is a lack of equipment and a lot of the existing equipment is worn/dated and needs replacing. It is full of backpackers many of whom have terrible hygiene. They have a lot of squat racks and a good boxing/sled area. I can see why many in the area prefer the fitness first in westfield.
Negative experience: I enrolled in January with the promise of a gym that would become 24hrs, something that never happened and they still took advantage of the pandemic to close the gym at 8pm and never returned to normal hours. several broken equipment. I always have to go to the westfield, worst fitness first franchise!
Fantastic experience: Good gym
Fantastic experience: Nice friendly gym with very helpful staff. Comfortable for everyone with no need to feel self conscious.
Fantastic experience: Nice gym when not too crowded. Good variety of machines
Negative experience: If this is Platinum other Fitness Firsts must be genuinely awful
Negative experience: I had I terrible experience in this place, member of the team they just want you money and that's all, they are really fast to take fees from you and some money from personal classes that I never had. I'm still waiting for my money back!!!
Positive experience: Good Fitness First gym with separate weights and cardio floors. Gets super busy during the usual peak hours so plan accordingly. Suffers from weights not being put back, same as any gym in existence. Decent area for boxing bags and free training area next to it is a nice thing.
Positive experience: Nice friendly staff but air con needs to be fixed.
Negative experience: Re consider joining this gym! Many issues, 1) smell of raw sewage or cigarettes everyday,(downstairs areas) 2) Air Con Hardly ever works , 3)cardio Machines are not level, impact of joints etc 4)Only half of machines are actually in working order(old machines) 5)Upstairs toilet, always blocked (with raw sewage) 6) front desk team, are to busy standing around chatting to each other to actually offer any assistance.
Negative experience: This gym doesn't get 5stars from me until they become 24hrs.
Positive experience: Friendly and helpful staff. Good range of equipment and plenty of space.
Positive experience: The club is run down. There is no water so you cannot fill up your water bottle, not good for a fitness club. When you go to the top floor the toilet does not work, because there is no water so you need to walk down three flights of stairs and then back up three flights of stairs. There are no mirrors in the fitness room Why??? I try to go to the barre classes but can never get in, reasons not enough straps, not enough balls , barre is broken, then I have to go back home without a workout as they don't have anything else on at a similar time. The club is in need of repair badly. The staff at reception are so/so. They greet you and say goodbye but feels mostly insincere.
Positive experience: This club is spread over 3 floors. It has a beautiful group fitness studio with Led fx lighting effects. Imagine when it's used with Body Attack or other high intensity class - gonna be epic. Can't rate as highly about the rest of the club. It is packed with Matrix range of equipments (fairly average equipments - it's a step down from Technogym or Life fitness equipments). Does not have steam room nor sauna. Don't understand how it can be classified as platinum status.
Negative experience: I've been a member for 14 years, but progressively the exessive number of members make the gym so packed that any meaningful workout at times is impossible:-(
Positive experience: Messy, no one puts back their weights after they use them. Staff pretentious, always on their phone behind the desk. Better than the Westfield one though.
Fantastic experience: the bubblers here run slow
Negative experience: The most obnoxious and pretentious staff I’ve ever encountered. Go to the much nicer one in Westfield.
Positive experience: Convenient from Bondi Jct St. Certainly improved since upgraded to Platinum. Free weight, strength, machine areas are all together with descent range and size. Feels like same size as FF Darlinghurst. Smaller than Bond, George, Kings Cross. When I was there, plates, dumbbells were all around and hard to find ones I wanted to use.
Positive experience: Marginally better than the Westfield Bondi Platinum but still old, outdated and dirty. New equipment needed. People leave their equipment all over the place once they’re done. Also the trainers running group fitness most weeknights means don’t even bother going if you need to use the open floor space for a freestyle workout. Usually pretty packed during peak hours but would go here over the Westfield platinum wherever possible... Not amazing for a platinum club however. The sewage also smells but they spray a lot of peppermint airfreshener which helps.
Negative experience: Plenty of room for improvement. Pros - large group fitness exercise room and large Spin room. Cons - small Barre room with not enough classes scheduled(sometimes they’re full half an hour prior), often the bathrooms and even the exercise areas aren’t well maintained, and reception staff usually seem like they don’t want to be there.
Fantastic experience: Loved it
Fantastic experience: Super excited new member here! Staff was really welcoming and helpful. Gym is super clean and has awesome equipment. Washrooms and lockers are so nice. Flat irons and hair dryers - yes please!
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym. New refurbishment is amazing. Nice and open, plenty of room. Love the power racks, something like 20 spots you can use.
Fantastic experience: Love the makeover! New weights, new cardio equipment, new super studio and , best of all, a stunning barre studio
Positive experience: Location is great. Near Buses and Trains. The Gym is run down. It feels like it is in need for a facelift. Although it is a no fuss gym. I come here for freestyle group exercise training, but i have noticed that these have been in the decrease and being replaced by "copyrighted" programs, where all instructors do the same, in the same way, and even say the same enthusiastic words. Gym instructors are approachable and the reception desk is helpful. You even find people to help across the different 3 floors! Although seems like there is a "Class" of instructors different to the rest, these seem to think they are superior to the members and ignore members very rudely. I tend to avoid these. The place is clean. although the change room feels dirty and the toilets are really dirty by 5.30pm when I get there to join a class.
Positive experience: Have left and returned. Negatives: Was told by the sales lady upon joining that 'Finance' First are aware of their money grabbing reputation, and were trying to change that reputation. Hmm, since their reputation has been earned over the years, wouldn't they do better to change their behaviour instead of trying to persuade us that they're not as bad as we think they are? Lets look at the facts: Finance First (FF) will advertise so loud that you'll have to keep your MP3 player cranked up high, hurting your ears. Their ads do not appeal to members needs. Instead they show whichever advertiser's willing to pay the highest dollar. We're talking about Hollywood's latest violence and action movies, time-share, Toyota 4WD's, army reserves propaganda. So wouldn't you expect a membership discount for being their commodity to advertise at? FF will push their hand as deeply into your pocket as they possibly can, with no care paid for your lifestyle and needs. e.g. some gyms charge only a few dollars per week to freeze your membership while away, giving them a few days notice, up to many months a year, no proof of travel required. Ask FF about their money grabbing practice. FF have 90 mins worth of "song's" (I'm being very generous by calling it 'song's). You'll get to watch videos & hear lyrics sponsored by the tobacco companies, and ditto for the New World Order santanic symbols and performers. So where's their discount for your being the zombie victim of their advertising machine? A PT revealed that the reason their mats stink is that they're NEVER cleaned, yuck! Their PT's are very hit and miss. Some will injure you and should not be on the gym floor. FF has been bought and sold several times over the past few years, but policy doesn't change. Positives: lots of weights and cables, lots of space, mostly quality equipment and a variety of weights and machines to choose from, broken equipment gets serviced reasonably quickly, gyms around the city and eastern Australia, lots of locker room space.
