Negative experience: I was a member here for 7 years. I was happy with the range of equipment and the different rooms with grass etc. however they decided to make the windows to the front of the gym see through, and the whole busy street can now stare into the gym and it's awkward. I was getting messages from people in my community saying they could see me and I wasn't happy. Edit: I understand that you wanted to change the glass and if most feedback is positive, good for you. I'm just saying it is the sole reason I quit zap on the spot.
Hi Eli The removal of frosting is a business decision where we aim to have our clubs be an inviting and welcoming place for all members to attend and believe this change will help us achieve these results. Overall feedback has indicated a strong preference for this adjustment, supporting our belief that it will contribute positively to the member experience.
Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP, PREDATORY BEHAVIOUR - I had previously go to this gym before and there were never any staff present during staffed hours. I didn't go to this gym more than a year while still paying fortnightly fees and random fees charged on top. Called Monday 8th July to cancel membership, the next day Tuesday 9th July they emailed to inform my membership is still ongoing. Conflicting messages and impossible to cancel membership to keep people lock into contract then send off to another predatory debt collector to harass and make people's lives hell.

Negative experience: This club definitely needs new equipment and a refurbished bathroom. It also smells really bad, there's no ventilation.

Negative experience: They have horrible contract rules, it is completely full at all hours of the day and you have to wait for a long time in front of a machine, yet when you want to cancel your membership you are charged an extra monthly fee, definitely stay away
Hi Egemen Sorry to see your review. Balaclava is a busy club but we do have other clubs that are quieter for our members. When cancelling your membership you are required to serve a 30-day notice period and you do have access during the 30 days
Negative experience: I've been at zap balaclava for about 2 years. The equipment itself isn't too bad (when it's not out of order, before being fixed 6 months later). Regarding the new digital access update, I generally open the app before I leave to the gym, so that by the time I arrive it will load. On a serious note, it's not the quickest system, but it has just launched so I won't be too critical. Zap decided it was a good idea to remove the frosting off the front windows, leaving members exposed to the public, eliminating any privacy we once enjoyed. It's sad to see that Zap values their marketing more than their own members. The climate control in the actual gym is pretty bad. On a warm day, you can cut the air with a knife, and there's a strong odour of sweat. Not pleasant to workout there during the summer. Staff could sometimes be a little grumpy, but overall I haven't had a bad experience with them.

Negative experience: I thought I trusted this gym, but when I left I made sure to ask in reception that my membership had been cancelled and that I had made the last payment after a month notice because I was moving away. They said it was over but they have been charging me every week ever since and no one replies my emails and they keep taking my money!

Unfortunately, due to your debits declining it pushed out the notice period. I have checked the membership and everything is up to date and has been cancelled as requested
Fantastic experience: Great range of equipment. On-site free car park. Clean. Great value. Quiet when I'm there (early morning). The others working out have always been pleasant and respectful.

It smells stale and dirty like walking into armpits and bad breath no matter when you are there I am a member here and have been a gym goer and personal trainer for many years snd this is the smelliest gym I’ve ever been to its pretty off putting to the point i may leave

No me quizo devolverme la plata de la llave, asi que no crean que hay refund de la llave porque no lo hay. La verdad ese hombre merece ser despedido. Peor servicio de mi vida.
Negative experience: Today is my first day going to Zap Fitness 24/7 Balaclawa, unfortunately their customer service really let me down as they asked me to come in from 10-6:30pm Monday to Thursday. Now they asked me to come in half an hour. The man who works there spoke to me disrespectfully

Negative experience: I moved to Sydney and tried to cancel my gym membership but was told I couldn't due to my yearly contract not being up and a cancellation fee would apply. I haven't used the gym in five months yet had to keep paying. I wasn't informed about the 30-day notice required after the contract ends. When I called to cancel after a year, they insisted on the 30-day notice, which I was unaware of. Their lack of communication has led to me paying for an extra month. I'm not unhappy with the gym itself, but the customer service has been unsatisfactory.

Negative experience: **women beware** Had several unpleasant interactions with another member at this gym- made a complaint to Zap and they did nothing about it. Zap refused to check CCTV to validate my claim and identify the member (despite my detailed accounts of the events), meaning they did not identify the person or take any measures to stop the interactions from recurring, and they refused to note the complaint on this persons account. These events, plus Zap not taking this seriously led me to not be able to return to this gym due to anxiety about running into this person. They encouraged me (and my partner) to cancel our memberships, probably so they could avoid having a tough conversation with this person, which is all I asked for. Zap do not care about your safety or comfortability while you’re at their gym. I would not go here alone or when unstaffed. Edit in response to Zap: complete lies that they could not identify this person - I gave them the dates and times that incidents occurred (plus giving detailed recollection of the events) and knew there was CCTV in the area. Since when is someone consistently staring at you threateningly, entering into your personal space and ignoring you when they are confronted acceptable behaviour? Your complaint was this person was staring at you but did not approach you or interact with you at all. Fantastic experience: Very convenient and clean, has everything you need and a good functional/boxing area.
Negative experience: Stay away folks... unless you like mystery charges to your credit card. Zap Fitness uses a predatory third party payment system called 'Debit Success'.
Negative experience: These guys have the worst billing processes and they don’t tell you when your contract ends, 30 day notice is also a bit unfriendly
Positive experience: Zap Balaclava is my local gym, it is no frills and has a good range of equipment for a good workout. It is 24/7 and I can find quiet times during the day as I don't like it when it is busy. For the price I pay it is a great gym, the staff are always friendly and helpful. Fellow patrons seem like a good bunch who keep to themselves and get on with their workout.

Positive experience: Pretty small but decent gym. Good selection of cardio equipment. Bikes, treadmills and ellipticals. Fairly standard machine weights. 3 squat racks with olympic barbells. Conditioning area with prowler, airdyne and spinning bikes. Biggest plus is 24hr access.

Negative experience: The gym itself works. Starting to get. A bit dated though. Usually 1-2 machines out at any time but has all the things you need for a workout. However, I'm pretty disgusted with how they treated me after being a loyal member for over 5 years. Debit success, their payments provider are dodgy as anything. One week they claimed they couldn't debit my payment and charged me an extra $10. My CC was 100% in balance etc. only issue was them. Getting hold of someone to dispute it was too difficult so they got away with it. Next my cc actually was stolen and they couldn't debit it (Yay Optus). I was overseas whilst this unfolded, seems they only communicated by SMS (no roaming...didnt get it) and they didn't send an email until 6 weeks in but no way to contact them, they ignored my reply by email. over this period it racked up a fair amount and they tacked on fees etc. When i got back turns out they sent the debt collectors after me. I settled the amount with them amicably but this is where they got dirty. They refused to reinstate my membership at the rate I was on, $8.99 and tried to make me re-sign at a rate of $12. I provided them an opportunity to make this right and they've refused. Disgusting way to deal with a loyal customer who's been a victim of fraud.

Negative experience: Despite having a membership and never having any issues with my account my key card is continuously not working. Trying to get support is ridiculous and they’re either not there during staffed hours or not replying on social media. Would not recommend after I’ve lost about 3 months of access just this year.

Fantastic experience: Spacious gym. Very clean and well maintained. The staff is also friendly. Have a good collection of exercise equipment.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, great staff, great trainers, great price. Put my membership on hold when I had surgery without any issues. Cancelled my partner’s membership when she requested. Never had any issues getting through to customer service by phone during business hours. Has 4-5 squat racks (if people double up on the deadlift platform), aircon, and like 20 cardio machines if you care about that too.
Positive experience: Would be five stars if they didn’t have horrible music so loud. Just let gym members listen to their own. Hard to concentrate on form.
Positive experience: a spacious gym with three rooms, there is everything you need for a full-fledged base and isolation and even crossfit training.

Negative experience: I cancelled my Gym membership in June 2020 due to going into Lockdown in Melbourne again, and also moving relocating homes as a result from COVID. I changed banks so I did not notice, but payments began in November 2020 through to now. I've only been notified my bank now that my account is $300.00+ in overdraft due to these ongoing payments and now overdraft fees. You can't contact them on their phone lines - their shut. You just have to email. And once they call you, it's on a private number so you can't bother them for an update. I've now spoken with several representatives at Zap customer service, all who exempt themselves from any responsibility, and resfuse to try and resolve the issue. You get a 'Not our problem, and we don't care if you're unhappy' resonse. I'll be taking this through Consumber affaris as I've never experienced such appaling customer service ever before. 0/10
Hi Max I have checked your membership and we have had no correspondence from you at all in regards to cancellation requests. Our phone lines are open and if you can't get through it would be due to our team taking other calls. We would never say to our members it was not our problem or we don't care if you are unhappy. Your membership cancellation was processed from when you first requested it on the 11th of March 2021. I will get one of the team to contact you again to go over your issues

Negative experience: Cancelled my membership via email. Got a response not relevant to my cancellation. Tried calling dozens of times. Continously unavailable. Theyve put me onto debt collextors. Cant get onto anyone to resolve the issue. They dont answer phones or emails. If your thinking of writing a review, be sure to hold off until you try to put a stop to your membership.

Negative experience: Update on previous review: I have emailed 4 times. Called multiple times. I have been told that I would be called back and this issue resolved, never happened. I have been treated with disrespect by your staff over the phone. I want my membership cancelled. I am not paying $200 plus dollars to cancel. I went to Zapp 3 times before the lockdown, my cooling off period had just finished. I have an autoimmune disease and I can not go back to the gym anytime soon with this pandemic. Zapp was charging me without me knowing when gyms reopened. When I called your staff had a go at me about that. This is honestly a joke. Please cancel my membership.

Positive experience: Great experience I’ve been gyming here for at least 8 months. Great experience I’ve had. All machines and weights are in very well condition. It has almost every machine you’ll need, a calf raise machine is missing though. May get a little crowded in busy hours otherwise not so crowded.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. I don't post reviews that often but after this experience I am really frustrated. I have been a member of ZAP FITNESS 24/7 since May 2018. I am very disappointed with the service. The GYM is ok. Toilets are never really clean. The TVs on elyptics don't work way too often but I really don't care much about those things. I care about the customer service. Be ready to pay extra charges and no free cancellation. There is no staff in the reception. I tried to call them to discuss my ongoing issues and I wasn't able to reach them. I don't recommend this place.

Negative experience: You get what you pay for, and it shows. The staff are great, it's the owners who are the issue. Shockingly maintained equipment, lax security, generally rundown. A very limited range of weight training machines, no privacy screens for the cardio area (anyone walking or driving by can look straight in). All in all, there are better options close by that don't cost that much more.

Negative experience: Correct gym but toilets are never really clean and TVs on bikes and elyptics don't work way too often (tried three again this morning before finding one that "works", and it stops constantly). Updated on 14/07: TV now working, thank you, although now most YouTube videos impossible to view, message "this content cannot be displayed" on the screen. Updated on 28/07: TV out of order again (elliptic bike), not all channels but most of them give a black screen, cannot even watch the AFL. Oh, and I still get "this content cannot be displayed" on all YouTube videos I tried. You got to question why having a screen at all on those bikes.

Fantastic experience: Zap fitness! Perfect for a workout anytime of the day or night. The gym is access open 24 hours. The condition of each gym and I've been to several in different locations aroud Melbourne, is to say clean and easy to maneuver around between exercises. The machines are current...NEW and can vary between assited machines, free weights and space to do your own thing. Busy times are generally after work 6 to 9 is pretty busy. I tend to avoid these times...cause you spend half your time waiting for a machine. Thanks Zap Fitness

Positive experience: This is my first gym, I'm more of a food and wine not gym expert...baaaart I said yes to this gym, cause I work odd hours, because its not a lock in contract, cause Toby at the front desk is the nicest human and makes you feel welcome, there is lifting stretching and cardio gear, the weekly rate is less than 3 coffee's in most places, its just a four star gym all over for the average human, we all want to do better, this is the place where we can achieve that without those yelly, angry ,pushy instructors...
