Negative experience: My experience with Goodlife Health Club was nothing short of a disaster. Their handling of my membership and cancellation process was frustrating, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. Misrepresentation of Membership Terms: When I signed up, I was explicitly told by the staff that the membership was for 3 months, as I only needed short-term access. However, when I attempted to cancel after 3 months, I was informed that I had signed up for an 18-month membership, something that was never communicated at sign-up. Failure to Provide Documentation: I never received a copy of the membership contract after signing up due to an email error on their part. After weeks of chasing them, I finally received the contract, which does not even have my signature, raising questions about its validity. Terrible Communication: I sent multiple emails and made numerous phone calls to resolve the issue but received no response for weeks. I was repeatedly told that the person responsible for handling the matter was unavailable and would call me back—yet no one ever did. When I finally managed to speak with someone, they dismissed my concerns, claiming there were "no records" to verify my claims. Blame Shifted to Me: Instead of taking responsibility for their errors, the staff blamed me for not following up sooner when I didn’t receive the contract. This was entirely unreasonable, as it was their mistake in the first place. Unfair Cancellation Fee: After all the miscommunication and errors on their part, I was forced to pay the cancellation fee for an 18-month membership I never agreed to. To make matters worse, the persistence during the sign-up process was unmatched—they called me daily to ensure I joined. But when it came to resolving a problem caused by their own mistakes, they showed no urgency, accountability, or respect for my time. If you value professionalism, honesty, and good customer service, avoid Goodlife Health Club at all costs. This experience has been one of the most frustrating I’ve ever had, and I deeply regret choosing this gym. Update to My Review: In response to the business’s reply, I want to address the following: 1. Account Location: Claiming you cannot locate my account is highly unprofessional and further proves the lack of organization in your operations. I have provided my details multiple times through calls and emails, and this issue stems from your admitted error in entering my email incorrectly, which delayed communication and resolution. 2. Membership Terms and Documentation: I was clearly assured by your staff that I was signing a 3-month membership, not an 18-month term. I never received the contract at sign-up due to your error, and the version sent later did not include my signature, raising concerns about its validity. 3. Cooling-Off Period and Communication: Referencing the cooling-off period and terms online is irrelevant when your staff failed to provide the correct information or documents upfront. Your suggestion to contact you again through other channels is unhelpful, as I’ve already made multiple efforts to resolve this with no success. Final Note: Your lack of accountability, repeated errors, and now claiming you can’t find my account highlight a serious lack of professionalism. I stand by my review and will escalate this issue further if no proper resolution is provided.

Negative experience: Seemingly good enough product (trialed as a weekend bring-a-friend visit). Despite the constant spam calls I figured I'd give this particular gym a try due to its locations and decent setup. I answered one of their many calls and proceeded with the sign up process, but when I wanted to run through some basic T&C's they became rather unprofessional and tried to sway the conversation. Prime example: self -"can we just quickly run through your cancellation policy and fees" GoodLife - "you shouldn't be thinking about that if you're starting " I found the process rather uncomfortable and the sales reps to be rather slimy. Ironically I was going to proceed with a membership irrespective of any discounts until they gave me a reason to look elsewhere.

Negative experience: CAREFULLY read the T&C’s when signing up. So many extra charges, quarterly admin, replacement lost card fees, payment default fee’s etc. I also found them very hard to contact - phones are typically getting managed by a 3rd party company. The Gym itself is average at best. Hard to access, different access cards and methods required pending times of access. Overall much better value for money gyms out in the industry.

Negative experience: This place is so sketchy, I'd avoid signing anything with them. Few weeks ago on the 15th Oct 2024 I had called to ask a couple of questions about the different memberships as I was looking for a gym to sign with that can be covered by health insurance. The person who answered said if I didn't come in now or book a free trial I'd miss out on that deal and was super pushy to get me in. I said I have other places to call that a local and he said I'd miss the free trail. I guess I'll have to miss it as I was to busy with uni with exams to drop everything to come in that felt very forced. I then get another call today and I had raised the question about having a free trail that goes for a day so I can see the inside and such, I was told they don't offer free trials but they have a special deal that allows me to opt out of my contract with no extra fees, based on past reviews I'm not comfortable signing anything with this gym on how they lie to their costumers just to get sales and have no trust for them. If I can do the free trial and I like the inside of the gym and feel comfortable I would have left with a membership. Due to this I guess I'll not be signing up here. This particular locations reviews are awful as they are not your average complaints like messiness, rude staff etc... but the reviews are mostly about scams, false information to have you sign and pushy sales and being difficult to allow people to cancel their memberships. This is a major red flag I have ever seen. Worst location ever. After that call I had contacted their head office to check up about the free trial and head office said ALL locations offer free trail, if this location isn't offering it to potential future customers then they are breaking the franchise contract of conditions and standards they have to uphold and follow as a franchise representative of Good life health club. I have a feeling head office will be reaching out to this dodgy gym location. Anyone reading this review, know to always follow up with any business that's a franchise. Do your research and don't rush to sign as they can screw you over with false advertisements and misleading information that will bite them on the arse later.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with Goodlife, again. They are not inclusive, not providing services they are taking money for and generally showing no respect towards clients. I have contacted Ringwood Reception with the same outcome. You're not interested in your clients benefits, You're taking my money from my account weekly for services I'm not using due to your lack of professionalism and interest in our complaints. Negative experience: This is a scam business. I'm gonna write down everything that's happened here publicly in hopes of finally getting a staff member to contact me back. In April, I asked a manager to downgrade me from a premium membership to just an entry level membership, as I found I wasn’t attending the classes that I was paying for. I realised last week that this membership downgrade was never actioned by the manager, so ever since April, I have been paying for the premium membership despite not utilising any premium features (thinking I didn’t have access). I also asked a staff member to freeze my membership before I went overseas - she said yes no worries. That wasn’t actioned either, so I was paying (for the premium membership that I thought I downgraded!) whilst not in the country. Lesson learnt to check bank statements more frequently haha. At this point I have been overcharged several hundred dollars, so I just needed to cancel, and take my money to a business who respects their customers. I have called multiple times, asking to speak to a manager. Each time I call, he is “in a meeting”. I say no worries, when he gets out of the meeting, can he please call me back. I am yet to receive a call in 2 weeks. So I emailed, asking to cancel my membership and refund me the difference in membership prices from April to September, and to refund the time that I was paying whilst overseas. The response was that I need to pay $99 to cancel my membership. I am struggling to understand how I owe them money, when they have been scamming/overcharging me since April. The person I have been emailing has now stopped replying, and this is yet to be closed out to this day. A week of no replies, I went in person and spoke to someone else, asking her to please get the manager to call me or reply to my emails. Still nothing! It is a scam business whose sole intention is to make money. Businesses have a right to make money, but must do so ethically. The manager needs to go back to university and earn a business management degree. The gym facilities are great, but avoid this place due to the headaches that the incompetent staff will bring at some point during your membership.

Negative experience: Even though this is an attempt to get their attention, it also summaries my struggle with GoodLife Ringwood since August 2023! Yup, they still have not done anything about my case since more than a year...apart from taking my money during this time and giving me fake promises. Subject: Final Request for Resolution Before Escalation to VCAT Hi Jayden/GoodLife Ringwood Team, I am writing to follow up on the email I sent on June 21, 2024, regarding the multiple erroneous charges that have been applied to my account, totaling $1004.71. Despite numerous promises from your team, this issue remains unresolved, causing me significant inconvenience and psychological stress. As outlined in my previous correspondence (along with numerous previous emails and phone calls), I have clearly detailed the charges that should have never occurred and provided a breakdown of the refunds I am seeking. The continued mishandling of my case and the inadequate and lack of response is both unacceptable and disappointing. I must emphasise that this is my final attempt to resolve this matter directly with GoodLife. If I do not receive a satisfactory resolution by the end of this month, I will be left with no choice but to escalate this issue to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and will also share my experience on public platforms to warn others (obviously starting with this Google review), which I had told you about in my last email on June 21st. Positive experience: A very solid choice for a gym with 24/7 access. There is a good variety of machines available as well as cardio machines like treadmills, bikes and stair climbers. The staff have been very helpful assisting with enquiries or any problems that have arisen and i have found the trainers to be friendly and insightful. A lot of group classes are available too although i haven't tried them yet so i can't speak on that. Although this gym is a bit more expensive than others i can see the quality is good for what you pay for, i'd recommend to look at joining this gym when there's a promotion on.

Negative experience: Too many equipments and no space for stretching or physio exercises. Everything is on top of the others. Bathroom/toilet incredibly filthy. And it smalls of s××× all the times! The music is extremely loud that you can't hear your music/podcast from your headphones. Goodlife in Box Hill is waaaay better!

Negative experience: Disappointed to say the least. After a group of my friends had recently moved to this gym as they found it to be a “great atmosphere” and all round better gym, I decided to get online and grab a free trial to try it out for myself, after travelling all the way to Ringwood from the south east suburbs with a friend who was a member, I was then asked if I would be after a membership or just down for the day, after stating I signed up for the 1 day free trial and wanted to just try it out first I was then told I needed to pay $20 as I wasn’t after a membership. I spoke to Adam who is supposedly the manager and he was blunt, rude and clearly was just after a sale that morning. Don’t give out “free trials” if you are going to make people pay and be pressured into membership talk before even walking through the door or seeing the gym to begin with. Pathetic.

Fantastic experience: I had a great Personal Training session with Josh today, I got a message from Josh a few days ago and got offered a complimentary PT session as a birthday gift, I think this is one of the great benefits for the gym members so I took it, the whole session was about an hour and it includes a brief questionnaire, Josh asked about my general health and fitness conditions, which is super important for making personalized fitness plans, and then when we got to the actual workout we did hip thrusts, he was so encouraging and kept giving me challenges, thanks to him I realized how much stronger I could be, I absolutely got so much more confidence afterwards! And then we moved on to other exercises , his instructions was very detailed and patient, and helped me learned more about fitness than I knew, overall it was an amazing experience and I really appreciate it!

Fantastic experience: Billy and the manager, Scott, at Goodlife Ringwood were incredibly supportive when I needed to switch my home club because of personal reasons. They provided me with options right from the start, which greatly helped me in making a decision. Negative experience: I signed up in June 2022 with a deal of $14 a week. Immediately, I was being overcharged $21 per week. I signed two waiver forms to get it changed, nothing happened - so I sent multiple emails, left multiple voicemails, but was told it had to go through head office and someone would get back to me. It was only till I escalated it to a regional manager at another Good Life Gym did they look into my membership in Feb 2023. Across the 8 months, I was overcharged $300+. From there, they didn’t even offer to let me end my membership, saying they could only give me credit, which other Good Life managers have told me that this wasn’t the case - they would just get in trouble with head office if the amount of money was flagged. They offered to re-review things after I used up the credit - which was in July this year, but since then they won’t let me end my membership without a huge fee, there’s no compensation for not abiding to my contract and taking more money out of my account. So so disappointing and infuriating, and honestly so taxing to my mental and financial health for a place I thought would prioritise my well-being. I emailed again this month and I haven’t heard anything. Don’t join this gym if you don’t want to be scammed - it’s all about money for them.

Negative experience: I recently became a member of Goodlife in Ringwood, but my onboarding experience has been far from satisfactory. The receptionist (Sunday 03-09-23) initially informed us that my friend, an existing client (who left the review below), would receive two weeks free as a referral incentive for introducing me. However, our interactions with a sales representative named Emile were deeply disappointing. Emile and we negotiated the membership fee, and upon his insistence and high-pressure tactics, I hurriedly completed the signup application. However, after I was officially on board, Emile dropped the bombshell: my friend wouldn't be receiving any referral benefits because of the lowered premium we had negotiated. This information was deliberately withheld until after I was committed, a tactic I find both manipulative and unprofessional. It's regrettable that an establishment like Goodlife would employ such misleading strategies to gain members, at the cost of trust and goodwill. I hope the management takes note and ensures that future clients are given transparent and consistent information. We are now considering having our contract cancelled with Goodlife Ringwood and opted for other local gym options and hope that future customers don't face such inconsistencies.

Negative experience: I referred my friend to them, and was told that I would get 2 weeks of payment off. Emile called us and after some negotiation, he said he could offer $18.39/week but my friend must sign up immediately. As soon as my friend hit the submit button, Emile turned to me and said: "You won't get anything as your friend got the best deal already." Is it how you run your business, by lying to your clients? I have more friends to refer, but I will definitely tell them to go to another gym instead. Also, I can't wait to cancel my contract with you. By the way, stop calling your clients brother.

Negative experience: Absolute nightmare of a time trying to cancel our membership here, advised us our membership was cancelled after a trip to the gym but then continued to bill us for many months subsequently, even after multiple phone calls and visits to the gym. Despite identifying and acknowledging their error multiple times, after more than 12 months, and many follow ups later they are still yet to return a call or refund money owed.

Negative experience: Average gym. Have paid for unlimited access but it took 2 months to give me my unlimited access card. The card then only worked once and never worked again. Tried to complain about it 2 months ago and they said they would give me a replacement. Was gonna bring it up again but would rather just cancel my membership then dealing with it. Couldn’t cancel my membership because I was locked in for a year even tho they haven’t provided a good service (all I wanted to for was 24 hour access.) Couldve just not signed up and got people to open the door for me like I have been doing the past 10 months. Too many people at the gym at one time too and it’s impossible to get a seat at the free weights. Commercial gym at its absolute worst.

Negative experience: Joined less than a month ago and I've already cancelled. Lots of reasons including luck of total transparency when signing up!!! Thank goodness I didn't lock myself to a contract with these people. Month to month maybe a bit more expensive, but at least you know you're not stuck with some dishonest rude staff and an overcrowded gym. During their May20 promotion where there were 2 weeks free. I was under the impression that they were totally free. BECAUSE THEY CALL IT A FREE TRIAL!!! Two days ago I was told that my card would have to be charged because the 2 weeks FREE TRIAL comes WITH A 7 DAY COOLING OFF PERIOD OF WHICH YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL BE CHARGED AFTER THE FREE WEEK. TRIAL!!! Are you kidding me??? A trial is a trial not a way to FORCE people to join your gym after offering them a 'trial'. I was also told I could bring a friend for one free day. Come the day which was on Monday public holiday, I came in only for my partner to be asked to go back. Apparently, you can't bring them on weekends or PH. I wasn't informed this prior. We drove all the way there, and he got turned back even though the gym wasn't busy. No sense of consideration at all. I paid my full month because I was told I had no choice since I signed up. I just wanted to be out of this place! I was told it was cancelled and nothing would come out of my account. I called their direct access only to find out I had 96 dollars due to be direct debited tomorrow, even though I've made my full payment and cancelled my membership. AVOID THIS GYM.

Gym manager J.T and instructor Sam Z provided first class customer service, they really listened to our needs and looked after us so well with transition and onboarding to our new club. Negative experience: Can't contact anyone by phone either for billing enquiries and keep getting additional charges with no explanation. When I joined the gym it was new and very clean and then it became disgustingly filthy. Clothes and used personal products left showers, muddy shoes worn into showers, locker doors falling off, rubbish left in the change rooms, cleaning wipe dispensers empty or not working, water filters on drink stations clogged so the water flow is very slow...... There was an effort to improve the cleanliness but it was never as good as when I joined. What started out very good - I guess to get memberships up - is now just very average, probably because they have enough members. When I reported issues to the staff they just said contact head office. What started out really well has become less than enjoyable. Tried another GoodLife gym and had the same experience. Suggest you look for an alternative gym if cleanliness and staff responses are important to you.

Fantastic experience: I am writing this to share the awesome experience I had with JT at Goodlife Ringwood. There were issues with my membership payments and I was trying get help from the club managing personnel for the last 3 weeks and wasn’t getting any where with my problem. A few sounded very harsh. And to my good fortune, today when I called again to follow up, I spoke to JT. He heard me patiently as it was a long call and was lightning fast in his decisioning to resolve my problem at the drop of a hat. I wish JT the very best to continue the great work of making customers happy. We need a lot more like JT in todays world :-)

Negative experience: Slimy time-wasting salespeople I was going to join anyway but this guy wasted 45 minutes of my time telling me: a) best thing about the gym is you can use it any time b) I’m getting his last special discount code which he shouldn’t be giving out (same rate as the website at the time and worse than the current rate) c) limited time offer of no payment for 2 weeks (you still pay for the 2 weeks you use btw) Just be honest and if you’re genuinely trying to help throw in a no joining fee or literally ANYTHING of value otherwise you are a negative value add time waster

Positive experience: Out of the 3 gyms I've been to in my life this one has made me the most comfortable. There's a large variety of equipment, designated areas for certain exercises and all the facilities I require. I'm not that sociable and don't like to be talked to or looked at while working out, this is the first gym where any and all interactions haven't made me uncomfortable. The PT's approached me while I pulled my awkward workout faces and offered help, despite being a little busy I can always find a space for me. They have contacted some friends of mine without my consent and signing up was a little confusing and I had to ask a lot of questions to understand the T&C's properly. It is a bit expensive, and can get busy in certain periods, but I think it's worth it for my needs

Fantastic experience: Only just signed up a month ago and the staff have already made me feel welcome. The main thing I like about this gym is how diverse and broad spectrum of people you share the space with. Even being quite bellow strength level of the majority. I still don’t feel too inadequate. Well, most of the time anyway. Honestly I’d highly recommend Goodlife and I don’t throw those words around regularly. Even if you’re unsure, they always have their trial periods you can get for free to dip your feet in. I will critique one thing however: the water pressure coming out of the taps to refill water is extremely low. They could do with looking into that but so far everything else I have seen and experienced has been top notch

Raised issue with manager and head office, no response, don't feel comfortable ever attending there again, I've tried to cancel my membership, and they are not helpful and don't seem to care about my right to privacy and confidentiality.

Positive experience: When I arrived I met a Lovley receptionist David, who showed me around as it was my first time at this gym, I was enquiring about the reforma pilates and David told me there was a 7 day trial going on, I booked in a few sessions. Reforma Pilates was very interesting and a great all round body workout, I feel toned and stronger in the core already. Loving the vibe from this gym and the many different classes and equipment they offer, also a nice new and clean facility.

Positive experience: Ive veen visiting different gyms for a few years now, first time ever a PT has gone out of their way to help me adjust a bar height and give me some pointers to perfect my technique. Big thank you to Josh, for making sure members arnt getting hurt even when not being paid for his time. Facilities are great, would benifit from another cable machine, chest fly and leg extension machine.

I freezed ma membership on 19th of may for a month, and paid off ma payment but they withdrew money plus late fee!!!!! Positive experience: The service is just not very good. They insist on regular $10 charges for "training" whether you want it or not, even when your membership is frozen, and it's a battle to get them to reverse it - Feels like asking for anything is a such a big deal. It doesn't seem like they want to keep their members. The gym itself is good. Cleanliness is mixed and the culture of using towels and wiping down equipment with the provided wipes is not really there. Would be awesome to see more people clean up after themselves. Can't blame the gym for that though really.

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms. Has heaps of space and equipment. Clean spacious changing room, toilets, showers and even a sauna. Easily beats the competitor next door with prices and facilities which are worlds apart. Anyone on the way to work or returning from work to fit in gym, this is the best with its lockers showers.

Negative experience: The most unprofessional customer service i have received to date. Extremely disappointed in how I was spoken to this morning from the so called Customer Service Manager Shahn. And being told to continuously calm down is an absolute disgrace. She was very worked up and had the audacity to tell me to calm down numerous times. All I wanted was to discuss my membership and cancel it. My partner then took over the phone call which has worked in customer service relations for many years to which he was also absolutey shocked in the way he was also spoken too!! Disappointing!!

Fantastic experience: This is a great 24/7 gym. A lot of new Hammer Strength machines and free weights. It also has three dedicated powerlifting stations which gives extra flexibility to my workouts. Very clean and well maintained. Much better than other smaller 24/7 clubs around.

Negative experience: The length of each session has been cut down to 30mins to 45 mins after the gym reopened this week. I absolutely understand and fine with this based on the situation the gym is on now and followed the instructions to book my sessions online without any hassles. However, the manager of Goodlife Ringwood told me that I am only allowed to book ONE SESSION EACH DAY without any consideration of the travelling time of the customer to gym from home or the workplace. I'm totally put out and felt unwelcome by such a ridiculous restriction and I would like to know if the rule is imposed on ME ONLY as I haven't been told such thing in any other Goodlife houses and even in their website at all.

Negative experience: The staff are always to busy to help you and member have no respect for each other. For a new gym there is already signs of wear and tear. THE ROOF LEAKS which is an unpleasant experience when you’re attempting to workout. It says 24 hours but that the end of my shift if i try get in at 2-3 am i cannot.

Negative experience: Hello, I am an international student and I do not recommend any body to join this club. I came to join the club for one month. The staff did not tell me that I can't cancel my membership if I do not notice them at least 30 days before cancelation process and I am out of Australia and suffering for cancelling my membership and the club still is taking money from my bank account. What I want to tell you guys do not trust the staff and this club.
