Fantastic experience: I take my 4 year old boy here and he loves it. I’m a veteran myself, so when I heard this was a veteran owned and ran business, that was the first tick of support for me to go have a look. The way the coaches conduct themselves is very professional. Their demeanour and calmness is spot on for the juniors. The biggest standout for me is that every coach knows every child’s name - whether that child is a first timer trialling, or one of the regular attendees, you hear all their names being called out on the regular. That to me is a solid value proposition as a parent as I can see that the time and effort, just in that little 1 percenter has been taken - let alone the martial arts aspect of why we send them there. Very professional look and feel in the gym, with everyone being made to feel welcome. I’d encourage anyone to give it a go.

Base also has a great timetable offering classes in the mornings and evenings. The facilities are excellent to train at and are kept clean and hygienic. I’d highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for somewhere to train, wanting to start training martial arts or even if you’re just visiting Brisbane!

Fantastic experience: The staff at base are amazing. My 4 year old daughter who isn’t the most confident kid started training at Base a few weeks ago. She got upset in her first lesson and one of the coach’s calmed her down and had her smiling and back into it in under a minute. She looks more confident with every lesson. Last week she asked if she could start training every day because she wants to be tough like Georgia (her coach) when she grows up.

He is much more confident since training and Damien & the team have helped him to reach his full potential. My son has had focus issues at school & has said his training at base is helped him focus in class also. Any issues (it’s a contact sport so things happen) have always been dealt with efficiently & professionally. I highly recommend Base

Fantastic experience: I dropped in for a few BJJ sessions while staying with family in the area. This is an excellent gym, with fantastic instruction and all around great people. The gym has heaps of mat space, including padded walls, and the giant ceiling fan provides good airflow - very welcome as it was around 30°C most days I visited. I was impressed by the class format, jumping straight into technical drills instead of taking up class time with unrelated warm-ups. Technique instruction was concise, while still highlighting important details. I felt safe rolling with everyone. There was a great range of physical strength and technical skill, which I felt was applied in a controlled manner, leading to some great rolls. I'd definitely recommend BASE to anyone looking to train in the area.

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming from the very first! We started with the kids classes for my 13 yo son. The coaches are fantastic at explaining and training the kids in a safe manner. My son is now addicted to BJJ and wants to train every day! The HIIT classes have been great allowing me and my teenage daughter to train whilst my son trains. We all love going to Base for our afternoon training.

Fantastic experience: Trained for 9+ years in MMA in QLD and VIC, Base training has developed a culture like no other gym I have seen. the coaching staff have embraced one word and have created a Family. from highly competitive athletes to casual learners everyone regardless of skill, age, gender and ability is working towards a common goal of getting better with no ego's just some wacky characters. With ufc veterans to black belts, brown belts, a PT, a physio, morning classes and now on site coffee there's no other place to train.

Fantastic experience: I’m so glad we found Base Training Center! My five year old daughter loves participating at the kids BJJ and MMA classes, the trainers are extremely professional, patient and take time to ensure every individual child understands what is expected while enjoying the new skills learned. The positive change in my daughter, on and off the matt, is undeniable even after just a short amount of time. The atmosphere and community at the Center are incredible so I decided to join as well. My initial fears of being not fit/flexible/strong enough and making a fool of myself quickly vanished when everyone at Base Training Center made me feel welcome. While I’m at the very beginning of my journey I enjoy being part of the community now and learning new skills. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Base Training Centre is fantastic. I am a 50+ and slightly overweight and joined for fun and fitness. The team has been nothing short of exceptional. The coaches are extremely welcoming and provide high quality coaching to all levels (including me). Damien provides an awesome culture and this transfers through to the coaches (Georgia, Aaron, Mitch and Zac). Everyone is considered and treated equally. The training partners are also very good regardless of the level of skill or experience.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough about the team at Base Training. My youngest daughter Cleo took part in a trial of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. Cleo is a very anxious, sensitive and shy girl. Spending 20+ years doing Muay Thai, my wife never thought I would be able to get Cleo to attend anything like this. Cleo wanted to sign up immediately after the 2 trials. She is absolutely LOVING it and at the moment since starting 4 weeks ago, she wants to attend every day of the week after school. So we have been. Georgia is the face of Base. She was so welcoming and knowledgeable when we first entered. Damo, Georgia, Mitch, Vinnie are all awesome coaches and people. The entire Base crew be it parents or kids are so welcoming and humble. I would definitely recommend coming down and having a free trial!

Fantastic experience: Walking into an MMA gym is daunting enough, having met the coach where I currently train (Townsville) I decided to head in while I was on holiday and get some experience at another gym. I honestly can say I wish I had more time to train there than the week I did. The wealth of knowledge and experience the coaches had was only matched by the amount of effort that put in to make you feel like you’re already part of the team. The environment was supportive and friendly but full of people wanting to better themselves. If I ever lived in Brisbane, this would be the only place I’d train. Thanks for having me again team!

The coaches are absolutely world class, whatever it is you're wanting to train, Damien, Aaron and Georgia can help you out. They all have their own unique insights and styles, but work seamlessly together to create an environment that is a perfect mix of discipline, hard work and fun. There is a great mix of experience levels in the gym, from absolute new comers such as myself, all the way through to people competing and taking part in professional fights. The training is accessible to all age and skill levels and the other members are all very welcoming, positive and supportive. Whether it's BJJ, MMA, striking or wrestling, Base is the place to learn.
