Negative experience: My 50+ wife was at fitness first sylvania using the weight machines, a riod junkie was using 4 machine started abusing another 50+lady for using 1 of his many machines. My wife asked him to stop swearing and he turned on her...the tirade lasted many minuted in front of many so called men who did nothing. Complaints made to staff fell on deaf ears. Although staff went up to quell the situation the same staff member was seen laughing with the man as my wife was leaving....3 days on the man still comes to fitness first Sylvania when my wife asked the manager why the man's membership was not terminated instantly she was told that maybe she should go to anther fitness first while there inquiries take place....my wife asked the fitness first manager what there abuse policy was and she refused to answer .....so far nothing has happened if you are a woman by yourself at fitness first Sylvania be very careful as you might get abused and they will do nothing about it

Negative experience: Recently cancelled my membership. I honestly never wanted to go because of how gross it is. I joined mainly to use the pool which is discussing. There is mould build up round the edge of the pool and sand and dirt in the pool itself. The metal beams near the pool are very rusted which I’m sure is a risk itself. They also have so many machines broken that’s it’s pointless to even come. I was a member for a year and a half and the same ones were broken basically the whole time. The locker rooms were just as bad. A lot of lockers broken. The ground constantly wet and dirty and no ventilation. With the amount of member they have you would think they could afford the whole place to be renovated and upgraded.

Negative experience: Repeatedly, heat does not work for HOT yoga classes. Front desk staff are disinterested when told about the issue, yoga teacher has contacted her manager to no avail.

Fantastic experience: I love this branch of Fitness First. Everyone is just so chill, haven’t seen that much people smile in the other FF gym I normally go to and all of their staff smile too and they are not intimidating at all. Very relaxing indeed. Plus they got separate steam room for ladies and men. Loving the vibe here!!

Negative experience: I enrolled at the Sylvania gym and only trained once. I find it very unpleasant to pay a lot for a gym with such infrastructure and need to train at another unit farther away because this gym is dirty, disorganized, and has rusty equipment. You go to the gym seeking health, and it's dangerous to leave there with tetanus. After a month, I tried going to the gym again, and upon arriving, I was greeted with the strong smell of chlorine from the pool and a broken bike seat. The disorganization of the weights and dumbbells at the gym scares me; the gym should take action regarding its members.

Negative experience: This place is so disorganised it’s disgusting. They do not cancel membership when requested and continue to take the fees. On their payment portal you can’t even delete payment method so it keeps going out of your account. I will be taking this up with fair trading.

Positive experience: This place has a swimming pool and lots of great equipment as well as friendly staff however some of the equipment are always broken and takes time to fix. Also, I forgot my stuff a of couple times and I never got them back. It would be nice if the cleaner or the other customers return the other people belonging to the counter as lost property.

Negative experience: More broken lockers than functioning lockers, water fountain was out of order for 4 months, cable attachments are all broken, only about 2 out of the 12 treadmills work properly.

Positive experience: Good gym with pool included but the treadmills are all very old most have broken buttons and unresponsive screens which is quite dangerous and could lead to injury.

Positive experience: Gym is relatively clean with slightly outdated equipment. Two big issues are the rust on weights which leaves disgusting marks all over your clothes, meaning you have to play the floor is lava with the weights. Second issue is that it’s way too warm and humid in the evening - the windows all fog up and it really affects your workout as breaths during sets feel like a real struggle when at normal temp/humid it’d be your normal routine. The second issue is honestly making me reconsider switching.

Negative experience: Really could do with some equipment repairs. And a good clean. $20 a week to use rusty and dirty equipment. Much better places around the area.

Negative experience: Upstairs is so hot and humid for the past 3 months. No updates on fixing the aircon. 3 fans aren't enough cover the whole gym
Negative experience: This gym is beyond run down... The equipment is rusty and very old due to the pool downstairs as the levels aren't separated. New equipment rusts very easy because of this reason. Very unkept and untidy, equipment left everywhere, not returned back to it's spot. Not to mention the manager of this gym Bianca, who ignores emails and refuses to respond to complaints made by clientele... Not worth going at all, don't waste your time at this gym as you'll be disappointed.
Negative experience: Very Untidy and dirty gym. It is very rundown and equipment very rusty. I attend the weekly pilates class but unfortunately decided to remove it without telling anyone. The instructor is terrible and not worth going to.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Have been ghosted for a month, they never reply emails, and was told wrong information many times. Don’t want to think they acted in bad faith but it was really weird how they handled a simple membership transfer. Really unprofessional and disappointing. Some of the staff are very helpful but in general it’s all a mess.
Positive experience: I really enjoy using FF Sylvania as my goto gym when I’m too late to make it to my locals (Rockdale and Maroubra). I’m just finding the equipment rather rundown. Most of the machines have counters on them to assist with counting your reps but pretty much all of them aren’t working. The lat pull-down machine squeaks a lot so probably needs a service and has been this way for a few months at least. Many of the rubber/plastic handles need replacing as it seems for most of your set, you’re concentrating on not having the handles slip off. For the last few weeks, the water fountain upstairs has been out of order so you have to go downstairs to get water. Also, the air conditioning needs a major overhaul. With the extremely humid weather of late, the aircon can’t keep up especially with the pool being open to the upstairs. This gym is pretty good especially the 24 hour access except for the faults raised.
Positive experience: It’s a great gym with everything you need to have a proper solid session whether it’s lifting heavy weights or HIIT or any other kind of workout, the gym is across two floors and there’s a semi enclosed pool on the lower floor. However my only concern is the humidity that comes from the pool given there’s no separation from the upper level of the gym to the pool, so the equipment, even when new, rusts pretty quickly, and the aircon can only do so much to battle the humidity from the pool. Just adds another obstacle to your workout which isn’t the worst thing and okay for keeping your body from stiffening up during workouts.
Fantastic experience: Since the new manager took over the gym, it has become much more organized and clean. With friendly staff at the front desk, it's now the largest 24-hour gym in the area. I highly recommend everyone to come in for a free training session.
Negative experience: Decent facilities but really need to take some pride in replacing cheap attachments like my photo. The clientele are a little bizzare to say the least, constant holding of weight machines and refusing to let others use them. That kind of behaviour should be stamped out by the staff
Fantastic experience: I'm not someone who enjoys gyms or excercise much in general but I actually enjoy going to this gym all the machines are relatively well maintained, the Zumba class on Monday is FANTASTIC! (And I married a Colombian so know what a good class should be like!) Staff always say hallo and goodbye in a friendly cheerful manner, always very helpful... Not as many "gym bro's" as other gyms (tho, I found Rockdale to be different)... LOVE that there is a pool!!! I HATE the heat and sweating so swimming is a great option for cardio clean change rooms/ locker room... Tho, I don't understand why there isn't just a covered door in the showers... Not all of us like to get nakey in front of everyone hahaha but great gym, 10 stars xx

Negative experience: Air con in cardio area never turned on, cardio machines are antiques and poorly maintained. Most lockers are dirty and do not lock.
Fantastic experience: It's what you expect, spacious, modern & well equipped. A piece of advice: unless it's bad weather, avoid the undercover parking, it's a bit tricky to navigate around.

Positive experience: This place needs a bit of money put through it. The gym equipment is rusty and outdated. Maybe it is a great idea to close the pool of area completely from the gym to prevent rust. Service is great though, people are very nice.

Positive experience: There is significant inequity in the offerings of classes, with the bulk of classes occurring between 9.30-11.30am in the mornings. i.e. only 1 x evening Zumba class, 0 x BodyJam classes, and limited evening Cycle classes. I’ve requested evening & weekend Zumba classes for 8 years now. There are zero classes on offer at Cronulla.

Fantastic experience: I signed up in February this year and can't really complain. Free parking, free classes that you don't need to book for, and heaps of stuff to do around the gym. And to the comment below, they are open 24 hours. I've been here at 11pm on a weeknight. That sign is staffed hours only.
Fantastic experience: The gym is very nice! The staff are friendly and helpful. However, Google Review automatically (by AI) sets the hours to 24/7 because the Fitness First website says so (incorrectly). In the real world, they don't operate 24/7 as you can see in the first photo. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Positive experience: Not five stars but a convenient Smells like chlorine because of the open pool Patrons can be gross, some don’t wash their hands or just wet it after using the toilet so wipe everything down. Wiped everywhere for equipment so that’s good. Good variety of equipment but the equipment is getting old and rusty. Esp the rig equipment. I BYO small cable attachments Dumbbells stop at 50kg Light dumbells upstairs have lost their labels so don’t know what kg I am picking up Parking is free and ample

Spin Bikes are never fixed at least 7 or more bikes don't work each class, management say maintenance will look at it 2 weeks later there is no difference, and the Gym is often dirty, not sure why Fitness First don't keep this gym up to date, it's the members that make us stay there not Fitness First
Negative experience: I would have given more stars (not 5 as the gym equipment is dated or simply not working) if they hadn't been deducting membership fees AFTER i cancelled. Bianca Williams, the club manager was very quick to respond when I messaged to enquire about signing up for 1 month only, and we confirmed via email the end date as i gave my 30 days notice straight away. Since the end date we agreed on has passed they have deducted 4 additional payments and zero response when reaching out - head office for Fitness First don't seem to care either. Leaving this with Fair Trading and the bank now. :)

Negative experience: FF just seems to get worse and worse, equipment is broken or faulty, facility is in need of repairs, the roof has leaked in the spin room for 15 years, membership money is not being used to improve the facility at all. Written complaints are met with silence.

Negative experience: We join this gym for around one yea with my partner, we left for two months because we travel, when we join again when we came back, and the staff in the front desk gave to us a info about to rejoin the gym again, supposedly we don’t have to paid membership feeds again, and when they got our bank account details they start to stole Money from our bank account, we were to gym and discuss this subject with the Manager Bianca but ohhh surprise she never get back to us with any reply, plus the machines are destroyed, tha gym is totally dirty and disgusting, the machines are in terrible condition, they stole from our account aud400 in 10 days and no one gave to us a reply why? DON’T JOIN THIS GYM NEVER AND NEVER GIVE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS TO THEM
Negative experience: It is very disappointing to see the deterioration of the club over the years.. over half the gym equipment is in unusable .. Get to the spin class this morning at least 12 bikes not working & was unable to do the class. Spoken several times to the club managers she promised & says they get service every week but this is my 3rd week and the bike is still not fixed. It’s a shame to see the gym once used to be so reputable falling apart. It is also a risk to our Health of getting HURT from the broken machines & bikes. Please have it service regularly.

Negative experience: IF YOU’RE SIGNING UP READ THIS FIRST I signed up with a 7 day free of charge cancellation policy in place, after trying the gym I changed my mind and asked to cancel, they told me I need to come in person so I did and to my surprise a month later they charged my credit card, I called and found out my account wasn’t cancelled and I cancelled it again, they tried to charge me again yesterday. I never would’ve signed up if I knew it was going to be that hard to cancel

Management is friendly and helpful - the manager helped me sorted out an incorrect charging issue with Debit Success in one meeting. Negative experience: Equipment in the legs section out of service for months. And the ones ‘working’ seen better days, padding on the handles missing, screens not working, weight labels worn off so you have to count your weights. Surely a huge franchise like FF can put in some money in.
Fantastic experience: Have been a member of Fitness First since 2011. I've always been impressed with the instructors and equipment and have frequented other FF venues when I travel. Noticed that my local gym has got some new treadmills and I'm loving the new equipment. Total value for money ...
Positive experience: Great location, awesome facilities on the two floors plus swimming pool, heaps of equipments and machines. Cleanliness and hygiene could be improved, low percentage of members use sweat/gym towels.
Negative experience: I’ve tried cancelling my membership and have been chased up to pay an extra unknown fee for three months despite paying all outstanding membership fees. Despite claiming to do so, it is clear the Sylvania team has on multiple occasions not communicated debit success around this incorrect fee which I am still being contacted to pay three months after I closed my account. Absolute waste of time, don’t bother with a big gym like fitness first.
Positive experience: The holiday season can be full of people . Bathrooms/toilets are not cleaned regularly. Sometimes, there is no toilet paper or empty soap dispenser and toilet floor smells. I hope the management can see the needs to meet the high standards of this wonderful gym.
Negative experience: Could be a great gym but general maintenance is appalling. Half the men’s change rooms have doors ripped off and stacked in a corner, rubbish is lying around for days which makes assume they don’t have cleaners/competent cleaners, ceiling in reception is collapsing and moldy. Fix it up!

Negative experience: Terrible experience. Kid swimming lessons only using half of a pool lane and taking 5 of the 6 lanes so several swimmers sharing a single lane. And reception people can’t solve a very basic issue to provide minimum comfort to the members

Negative experience: The staff are friendly and it’s a great space with decent equipment, but the cleaning or lack of cleaning is disappointing, especially in the bathrooms. The mens bathroom has a shower that leaks quite badly and wastes so much water, this hasn’t been fixed for months. The showers are mouldy and the lockers are broken. I’d love to see this gym lift their game in providing better and cleaner spaces for their members.
Positive experience: Out of the 4 FF in the shire region I have to say this is my least favourite. It is my least favourite because of both the facility conditions and the general culture/vibe of the fitness first. It is much darker and older than Menai FF for example, which gives a bit of a creepy vibe. They do have a lot of equipment though, so you’ll likely always get what you are after even in peak times you probably won’t have to wait very long. Good gym, and I love FF I just prefer Menai or Cronulla!
Fantastic experience: From the first step in the door , the friendly greeting ,and helpful advice was great . I have only managed the HITT class which I loved . My daughter is a member there and I meet her upstairs where we have used the weight bars . Everything is clean and there is always cleaning wipes to use after exercise . The PT are very friendly and I have one on Monday so will definitely do a review .

Negative experience: I have been trying to solve the issue with my membership for 1,5 months and it is still keep going. When I call your customer service I am spending at least 1 hour while waiting. When I send the email, I cannot get any response. I have not seen any company like you, does not care the customer such a bad. Guys please read the agreement before enrolling that gym because we did not, and we trusted the manager what she said, she told a lie and now we cannot find the solution !!!

However as of late, the place has really deteriorated so much that I cancelled my membership and purchased a Peloton instead. This particular location is often out of sanitising wipes and gel, the fans don’t work and the management haven’t done anything to rectify these issues. Pretty poor effort for a business to remain safe and accomodating, especially during covid times. 20 cap class limit and no booking system was the straw that broke the camels back with me. No I don’t want to speak with a team member. I’m done. Peace out. It’s not the staffs fault - just poor running of the place by management.

Negative experience: The worst customer service I have ever seen. Although the manager and all staff told me I have free cancellation right if I relocate somewhere there is no fittness first, now it is told me that I have to pay more money to cancel my membership, during that term I waited long hours to reach their customer service on the phone, when I went to the club to talk about the issue, the manager did not come to talk to me although she is at the club, after all emails and phone calls they finally returned to me 3 weeks later with offering that I could transfer my membership to someone !!! Never trust this company...

Negative experience: Facilities are ok, but don’t ever expect someone to reply to an email or call. Once they have you signed up, customer service goes out the window. I’ve gotten better response from a snail in my backyard.
