Negative experience: Disappointing, a business merely focused on making money. I found the gym unclean, staff not interested in promoting basic towel use and equipment very old. Under the terms on my membership, I also had access to alternate clubs however my swipe would not work / allow access. After a few months and very little usage and not being able to access other clubs I requested to be released from my contact and was given the ultimatum / threat that I would be perused by debt collectors. I’ve read other reviews of similar note, in short stay away from goodlife

Negative experience: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! They signed a new agreement without my consent, so I have to pay for something that I didn't agree. Took me 5 calls to fix it, no-one want to help, everyone told me different history about my situation.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy gymming here. It’s so convenient and has all the equipment I need! The staff are always so friendly and the sauna service are a plus too :) I was at my previous gym for over 7 years and changing to goodlife was a great choice to gain new motivation in a new space. I do also attend the glen iris gym for Pilates classes and I think the price I pay weekly is more than reasonable for what I get!

Negative experience: What an incredibly disappointing and intrusive experience. Class instruction was great. The membership offer is misleading. The pressure to sign up is on from the moment you contact the organisation. No indication of a 13 week admin fee which is a continuing cost. Constant calls during business hours to my mobile. No way I would recommend, many of my friends have experienced the same. Awaiting refund of $$ as cancelled within cooling off period. Joined YMCA Hawthorn. Lovely.

Positive experience: Continuity, dedication and concistence is what you get from Mike, ABS, Jacquie, Chris and team at Camberwell Goodlife Health Clubs, Melbourne. I have been a member since 2020 and I intend to be there as long as my health holds. I live in Mont Albert North and commuting 5 days a week to the gym. It is easily my favourite place to be where I meet fellow gym members for sole or collective workout sessions, chat and a laugh now and then. The Club has clean space, equipment is adequate and kept in good condition, thank you.

Negative experience: If hidden fee's, broken machines and out of order toilets (for months) are what you're after, this is the gym for you! I've been attending gyms for over 13 years and this is without a doubt the worst one yet. Don't bother with big branch gyms like this. Set up as a money making machine, none of which seems to go back into the gym itself, nowhere near enough equipment, a bunch of wasted open space and way too much marketing constantly shoved down your throat. I went here for 1 year, take it from me. Don't bother. The state of the toilets should be enough to turn most people away, housekeeping seemingly nonexistent, even the crowds this gym attracts aren't very nice to be around. Plenty of other gyms nearby, set up with the members best interest in mind, an abundance of equipment and lovely staff. Goodlife does not have what it takes. they'll even make you jump through hoops to end your membership. 0 stars

Negative experience: 12/12/2024 - To the franchise owner at Goodlife Camberwell - Visited the gym on cosecutive Sundays (1/12 & 8/12). 1/12 - Menbers were waiting out side stairsway and gym was not open by staff until 8.20am. No applogies from the female staff is poor form. 8/12 - Happened again with members waited for gym to be open and staff turned up @ 8.15am to open door. The opening business hours have been cut since the returned from COVID and now you can't open the business door on time? You are stearing memebers to seek membership with other local gym businesses that offer better services and hours. RIP GoodLife Camberwell!

Positive experience: Good gym had older style pec flys that I'm not a fan of but apart from that it has everything you need including a sauna for recovery

Negative experience: I visited only once last week due to being in the area, it is rather ironic that they have the expensive weightlifting platform designed for Olympic lifting, and i can't drop the weights on there. Even still i was willing to accommodate, but one of the staff decided that he should, as someone who doesn't practice the sport of Olympic weightlifting, tell me who do practice the sport how to do the sport, i find this rather condescending. I might've developed some lower back pain due to unnecessarily lowering the bar when i could've just dropped it. Good if you're just wanting to get generally fit, not good if you're actually serious about training.

Positive experience: Camberwell Goodlife is very good-Zoe on the desk is always friendly and welcoming, the Pilates teachers are excellent but the best group teacher is the Zumba teacher Blaine. He doesn’t shout into the microphone, just signals with his fingers the direction and amount of steps AND always has a smile. I hope the management can fit him into more slots as he is an asset to the Club

I would like to take a moment to provide feedback on my recent experiences at the Camberwell gym. As a frequent visitor to various Goodlife gyms, I must admit that the Camberwell location has been the least inspiring of them all. Firstly, I have noticed that the staff at the Camberwell gym are not as attentive and engaging as I have experienced at other locations. They often appear more focused on socialising amongst themselves and being preoccupied with their mobile phones. It would greatly improve the overall atmosphere and member experience if the staff were more attentive and customer-oriented. Moreover, the cleanliness of the facilities, especially the toilets, has been a noticeable issue. It is disappointing to find them in an unhygienic state and consistently lacking basic amenities like paper towels. Ensuring cleanliness and providing necessary toiletries is essential for maintaining a pleasant environment for all gym-goers. Another factor that contributes to the uninspiring atmosphere is the absence/very low volume level of music. Creating an energising and motivating atmosphere can greatly enhance members' workout experiences and overall satisfaction. I understand that these issues may appear minor, but they significantly impact the overall gym experience for members like myself. It is my sincere hope that you will address these concerns and make the necessary improvements at the Camberwell gym. Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback. I believe that with some attention to these areas, the Camberwell gym can become an exceptional facility just like the other Goodlife locations
Positive experience: Good gym with great community been going here for a while now but there’s a new member of staff, mike, who I have observed conversing in a rather condescending and rude manner towards some members of the club and other members of staff, I find this very strange considering he is new to the club. This tends to be a common consensus when i have discussed the topic with other members. Whether he has something going on in his private life or his personality is simply of poor manner, I believe this behaviour has no place in our club.
Negative experience: Very rude staff. Tom and Christian were very disrespectful. Asked multiple times to talk to manager and they said no. They hang up the phone on my face. Disgraceful.
Negative experience: I have 1 year contract there but I couldnt go to gym bcs I moved state. Alr tried many many times to contact the staff to cancel my contract but still no one really updated or even responded to my email properly. They told me to create account through some kind of app and cancel or freeze membership there. I did not want to do that as I thought if I do it in person it will be better. But none of the staff there are supportive. I sent at least 5 emails regarding my membership and what I wanted to do with it but still after 8 MONTHS I still have to pay. Please think it again if you wanna sign up to become a member here because you will be lock down to a really bad managed contract. I wish I read through all the comments here before I signed in that stupid contract with Goodlife camberwell. You should pay extra 1 or 2 dollars per week to go to Fitness First. They will never let you down like this. Really really dissappointed to what they promised me at the first time.
Negative experience: The gym itself is fine. However, I'd like to draw attention to the unethical and dishonest experience I have had with the staff here. This gym has continued to debit me weekly even after I had cancelled my contract and left the country permanently. I had originally signed up for a 30 day period only, as I was moving to Germany at the end of May and had alerted the staff member responsible for my signing up to this. At the end of the period, I was told in person again that the contract would terminate at the end of May. I continued to be charged weekly after this. I then called again, was assured that there had been some kind of error, and that I wouldn't be charged thereafter. I was then charged again. The manager, Huwyn, was of no help at all, and even after emails back and forth where I thought the issue was resolved, I continued to be charged. Every time I contact the club, I am now told that there's a problem where they can't cancel my account without the manager doing it, but then it is impossible to reach the manager or get a concrete answer out of them. I feel as though this club has acted extremely cynically and dishonestly by continuing to charge me for months after despite assuring me that my contract was over.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff, amazing space and incredible bathroom and changing facilities. Everyone was very kind and was perfect for a casual visit while on holiday. :)
Positive experience: Goodlife is a great gym, always clean & up to date, and the staff are amazing. Shout out to Billy, Chloe, Bridgett, Dean and Liz – all of them extremely helpful and friendly. It would be 5 stars if it was 24 hour access
Negative experience: Awful experience there, I went there for a five-day trial, the sales said I can just go and do the trial, but the first day I went for a trial, they asked to hold my driver license until I left, then someone can talk to me about joining when I left; the second day the lady in the reception asked me to stand up in front wait for them to get their manager( to sell me the membership I guess)…. Actually they send me the contract before I did my trial and I was about to sign up after the first day trial…. Then I tried to complain after the second day trial but not any response. I was so shocked…and have to choose another gym.

Positive experience: This place hasn't changed since my husband joined in 2016 and I joined in 2018. Resistance equipment is solid but hasn't been updated. Lockers are often left used by PTs and unavailable during peak times and hours are restricted (even more so now) due to being in an apartment complex. Still good if the class timetable suits you or you're more cardio focused. Given the choices you have for Gyms in the area, do your research to identify if this is still the club for you. For me the significant reductions in classes and operating hours have now tipped the scales for me. I won't be going past my contract period.

Negative experience: Pretty poor experience overall… Forgot my towel (my fault) asked if they had any spare and told they had only 1! And I could have it, if I gave them 10 referrals, not very classy. When I complained later I was told by another staff member that’s the way it is…. How about just help people instead of capitalising on them?? The paper towel holders in changing rooms are always empty, ironically the changing room bins are usually overflowing with used ones, and no soap in showers. It’s convenient and the trainers running the classes are great, which is why I’ll keep coming back, think that’s all goodlife care about anyway tbh

Positive experience: I have been going to this gym since it was built about 15 years ago. The position for me, with easy parking is excellent. It has all the equipment one could wish for, including many classes. Going rat the same time (mostly) I have become “gym friends” with many others who also go at the same time. It is nice to chat and socialise a bit while there, mental fitness is also very important. I recommend here

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a great location, a nice selection of shops in the centre at Camberwell , the reception staff and class instructors are welcoming and enthusiastic. The overall atmosphere is great, enjoy all the classes, I go at different days and times of the week, so I get to experience the gym at different times, great for different workouts, the other gym members are nice also.
Negative experience: The Neutral experience, I would say. A few staff members are a little rude sometimes and don't respond to your greetings even they are free. Some people who sit in the room feel like CEOs of the Goodlife gyms and do not smile at all. If you do PT, they are your best friends, else you can keep hurting yourself, and no one will correct you.
Fantastic experience: Goodlife Camberwell is a fantastic gym, great equipment and very spacious. The biggest asset are the staff members who are always pleasant and eager to assist.
Fantastic experience: Nice large gym with plenty of equipment. Great to go during the day before the peak as there are plenty of machines available. Change rooms are clean and quite large.
Fantastic experience: On Monday night I came to the gym after a long day and was greeted by the sweetest receptionist. She was so kind asking me how my day had been and helping me open my locker after I forgot the code when I finished at the gym. After a hard day, the receptionist had made me feel so much better with how much interest she took in helping me. Thank you Goodlife.

Negative experience: My husband and I are members of GL Camberwell. I come on 30 December to the club. The sign at the door says it opens at 6am. The website says the same thing. I am here since 6:04 am and the gym is closed. I tried to call and I can hear the phone is ringing (for 25 minutes) but no one pick up. I am here until 6:33am. Poor communication.

Fantastic experience: Great staff and easy to get to. The lifts aren't great, but you aren't in them for long! Go at sunset for the great views as you workout.

Positive experience: The main gym space is cramped and gets crowded easily, it would be great if they converted some of the dance studios into a more functional gym space as they're under utilised and sit empty most of the day, at least as a warm up/stretching/kettlebell area to give members more space

Negative experience: I cancelled the membership on 15th March due to the outbreak of Covid19, but My CC was charged on 29 June and 6 July, when I called DIrectsuccess, they told me that my Direct Debit was not cancelled and need to contact the Goodlife to cancel, but when I email back to Goodlife, they just let me check the balance with Directsuccess. It is really not good experience. There are so many Gyms in Camberwell, that's why I will leave this club and won't recommend to my friend.
Negative experience: Extremely rude staff, completely unprofessional and only interested in their bottom line. Honestly, they have 0 interest in providing a great service, they just want to take your money.
Negative experience: The parking is almost impossible around the area and you spend 10min+ driving around before having to park far away. On top of that, toilets in the ladies rooms were out of use 50% of the time. Elevators were constantly out of service and the opening hours are extremely limited. Very frustrating overall
Negative experience: Very rude and unprofessional staff. ‘Friendly’ and somewhat helpful up until you sign up and afterwards service is basically non existent. Had unauthorised membership payments debited and called to get it fixed. Was told all fixed up over the phone yet still seeing fees debited two weeks later. Recommend all to sign up with a more responsible club.
Positive experience: The gym has a good location and lots of potential but many of the machines are broken or not properly maintained. I have found most of the staff to be good and I feel welcome there when I go
Negative experience: Deceptive gym with filthy, old, badly maintained equipments. Signed up for a 12-month membership, and I explicitly asked if there's any addition fees in addition to the $16.99 per week membership fee, and I was told NO. But they charged me $99 joining fee and $100 coaching fee. The lady who signed me up didn't mention these fees at all. If I knew coaching would cost an extra $100, I would have definitely said no. They have also charged me $9.95 on top of the weekly membership fee once for no reasons. They are good at hiding terms & conditions. Unless you are a lawyer, avoid this gym at all cost!! Called the same lady and I was told "well, you've already signed the contract". My problem isn't with how much they charge, but they need to be upfront about all the fees.
Negative experience: I had a very poor experience with Good Life Camberwell Gym. I saw on their website that they offer a “5 day pass” where you can try out the gym for free for five days. My friend who currently goes to the Camberwell Good Life asked me to come and join her for a training session and so I thought I’d sign up for this free 5 day pass so I could do so. I had no intention of signing up for a full on membership with them because I plan to join a gym closer to me or at my workplace, so this was purely just me going to their gym for a free five days… I arrived and the customer service person on the front desk was friendly and asked me if it was my first time at a Good Life gym and I said yes and she then went to get one of the trainers to come and talk to me. This trainer then sat down and had a chat with me and it started off with the generic name, email, number etc. and then it went into my fitness goals and what I currently do for exercise, and I was friendly and honest and was saying how I plan to just do this as a free trial and actually sign up elsewhere. She then said she needed to go and ‘talk to her manager’, and proceeded to leave me alone for a few minutes with no more explanation. She comes back and says to me “You can absolutely train for free today with your friend, but we reserve these free 5 day passes for people who are going to continue with us and get a membership, I’m sorry.”. I was a bit surprised by this, seeing as I had read through the 5 day pass Terms and Conditions, and there was nothing mentioning this… You can see for yourself below. I told her that this was misleading and false advertising because that’s not what it says on the 5 day pass T&Cs, and her response was defensive and took the ‘I’m just the messenger” approach, which I think is poor customer service. I then asked if she could pass my feedback onto this ‘manager’ to which she politely said of course. I then proceeded to have my one free session but got awkward stares from the customer service team, and I absolutely don’t feel welcome back there… A good marketing strategy would have been to have super friendly and encouraging staff, who would understand my motivations for joining, and perhaps if they had respected my wishes and let me have the 5 day pass then I would have been impressed with their facilities and staff and actually stayed to join up with a membership!! Positive experience: really busy and expensive gym. alternatively i paid a quarter of the price at a gym down the road and like it a lot better.
Negative experience: Pretty mixed bag overall. The staff have a few professional, friendly members, but a lot of them are rude, stand offish and arrogant. Let's just say that you don't get made to feel welcome when you arrive or leave. Some of the trainers seem dedicated and good, but others like to interrupt your work out and condescend you. The equipment is mostly good but the bath rooms are pretty foul.

Negative experience: - Unmaintained, filthy equipment. - Terrible, rude, egotistic staff - Dirty toilets. - Shonky business, overcharging, constantly changing prices, hard to cancel a membership, false advertising Overall an utterly terrible experience, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Don’t sign up for a membership, class, casual or even trial, definitely the worst gym I have ever attended.

Negative experience: Not worth their prices anymore. They have cut the number of classes, so there are too few options and the ones that still run are now too crowded. This has been the case for months - they know but do not care. Classes are also cancelled with no notice and all you get is "we're sorry" (but will be keeping your money). The gym is DIRTY, toilets are often broken and they allow dogs inside exercise classes so there is dog hair everywhere (and those with an allergy are just expected to put up with it!). It has become unacceptable. I will be going to Fernwood instead.

Negative experience: This was such an exceptional gym, been a member for many years, but lately it has gone down hill. Too many members for the classes available, having to now revert to ticket systems for majority of classes due to overcrowding in classes. Can more classes be put on to accommodate the increase in numbers please? Most importantly half yes 50% of the toilets in the Ladies DO NOT work. This has been the case for several months. Every morning there is a queue to use them before classes often 4 to 5 women lining up. And the ones that do work, don't flush properly or have broken toilet roll holders or are filthy etc. Surely this is a basic necessity for sanitary reasons!

Negative experience: I got a 1 month membership in November 2018 and terminated it in December 2018 as per the 1 month contract. However they continued to charge/direct debit the card after the membership was terminated, while I had moved overseas. I was still getting direct debit charges in April 2019. The only way to stop these charges was to cancel my card which I did. These people are criminals stay well away, they will get your card details and then direct debit even after contract.

Fantastic experience: Great location and availability of equipment. Nice and cool in summer, plenty of parking and good spots downstairs for post workout coffee. Gets a bit busy during peak times but most gyms do. Haven't used PTs or Classes but otherwise staff are quite friendly. Happy coming here.
Negative experience: Very bad service, specially Personal trainers
Negative experience: If the rating can go lower, I'll give lower. The worst service. Charging unfair and charging fees was not informed when signing contact. I've made a formal complaint with Consumer affairs regarding the unfair payment and poor service. They caused you a lot of trouble and affect your life and said they could do nothing except apology. Terrible!

Positive experience: One of the best Goodlife’s in the inner suburbs. Always neat and tidy. The lovely French lady at reception always greets with a smile. Good selection of equipment, well spread out area and finally some clean and updated locker rooms. Love this outlet.

Negative experience: They are incapable of managing direct debits. On top of my own membership, they were charging me for ANOTHER person's membership AND were charging me the joining fee every month - resulting in late payment fees being accrued, as my account was being overdrawn each month. I emailed them a few times and eventually had to physically go in to the gym in order for them to take action. Months later, after discovering that I was still being over-charged despite their 'efforts' to sort everything out, I opted to cancel my membership. I was then told I would have to pay early termination charges as they had incorrectly signed me up for a 12 month contract, despite my specification that I was to be signed up for a casual membership. To sort this issue out, I organised a time to meet with someone who referred to herself as the manager. When I went in to meet her at the specified time, I was told she had already left - as her shift always ends hours before this time! Disgraceful service. Luckily the real manager was sympathetic. I would not recommend this gym if you have half a brain and value your privacy.
