Fantastic experience: Good space and equipment
Negative experience: when i initially signed up, this place was awesome. there were next to no issues, but as time went on i saw that a combination of patrons and staff were contributing to the gradual and steady decline of this place. a few years back, i came to find that almost all of the plates were in a loose pile jammed behind one of the leg press machines. after that, there wasn't much, and i thought all was well. i was, unfortunately, very wrong. the plate issue happened again, but like last time, i just picked them up and put them where they belong, did my workout and left a reasonable stack on the machine before moving on. the plates continued to be a mess, and then the dumbbell racks followed suit. finding giant, empty spots in the racks, dumbbells rarely being in their correct places, and having to go on a scavenger hunt to find a matching pair, let alone three progressing pairs (e.g. 2x15kg, 2x17.5kg, 2x20g). this has been a consistent problem, including while under the new management. another problem is the music being set so loud you can't hear yourself think, and even with your own headphones on it would still be clearly audible. i don't care what music you play here, but the only other place that endeavours to play music this loud would be the 'interrogation' rooms at guantanamo bay. you're left with a choice between ear damage from the abysmal crap they play, or ear damge with a futile attempt to drown it out with your own headphones. third, is the aircon blasting full ball at all hours; there is nothing more annoying than trying to lift something heavy (heavy for me at the very least) with a gale force wind blowing directly at you. if i wanted to work out with the wind freezing me to death, i would do pushups naked in siberia, not do bench press at 3am in marconi gym. lastly, is the most recent flavour of hell that has overcome this once-renowned establishment: moving the machines around so frequently that you have to refamiliarise yourself with the locations of the equipment that you spent half of the workout locating, just one night ago. i don't pay for a procedurally-generated gym. pick a spot, put the machine there, and leave it alone! i am glad i made the decision to pay for the gold membership, so now i can go to any one of the other world gyms that adheres to order, logic, and reality. this gym has become awful, and you should feel awful.

Negative experience: The music they play here is awful—lots of inappropriate, overly sexual lyrics and constant profanity. But the worst part is how loud it is. It’s blasting throughout the entire gym, so loud that wearing headphones is pointless. Also the workers have to be some of the unfriendliest gym employees I’ve ever come across. They have no care in the world about you. They a large variety of equipment which is good and a constantly supply of disinfectant wipes. However, it’s always hot there and feels sweaty and humid even in winter.
Negative experience: Large variety of equipment but that's about the only good thing. The gym smells a lot of the time. Male toilets are always disgusting, broken and barely have hand towels and soap. Machines are always broken - lack of care by staff and the lack of respect for the equipment by the patrons. Bad ventilation and even worse with renovations going on. Air con is either full pelt or not on at all. Staff are deadpan and have zero personality but they're getting there with the new owners onboard. Weights are never in the right spot, and you'll spend most of your time trying to find the other dumbbell which is off on the other side of the gym. Constant rave music blasted so loud I can't hear what i'm playing through my headphones. Zero enforcement of towels in the gym and patrons are nothing to write home about unless you're from the area like them. A few good eggs, but it's mostly a rotten carton. I'm nervous for the day that saunas and other cesspool elements get put in. Hopefully the new owners can turn it around, but with the area and the people that go to this gym... Unlikely
Negative experience: I am sure the new management / owners will make the same promises like the previous management / owners that just departed.
Fantastic experience: Having a great time training and working out. Staff and facilities are excellent..looking forward to my next workout.

Negative experience: Charge me 250 just for cancelation
Thank you for the review Benyamin, sorry it that wasn't clear at the time of picking options. For context we have different account types (no minimum term, 12 month terms, 18 month terms, paid up front, etc). The no minimum term provides full flexibility to cancel at any time without fees, the longer term agreements have a cheaper weekly rate but do have a cancellation fee. All of this is explained and then emailed to you automatically at the time of joining and also has a cooling off period for any changes
Negative experience: One of the scummiest gyms I've ever experienced. If your card declines because it expires or cancels they charge you a 10 dollar fee without calling you and continue to do so to charge you more fees. Go to ignite fitness at mounties.
Hi Michael. Sorry you have had a poor experience. There is a charge for dishonoured payments by the billing provider. I can confirm the gym does not receive this fee or any benefit from this, it is not in our interest for this to be charged to customers and not something we benefit from in any way so we actively try and help customers avoid this. It is kept by the company who manages all of the payments. I can also see in their notes that there was an SMS sent on the 23rd, a follow up on the 25th, a voicemail left on the 28th and another SMS on the 30th all from the billing provider plus some additional contact attempts from the facility. If you didn't receive any of these can I ask you update your contact details with either us or DebitSuccess so that we are able to reach you when there is an issue please.
Negative experience: This gym is probably the goats of the gyms in Sydney. tho it’s always hot inside. The gym smells like wet dog constantly. The flooring stinks and needs to be replaced. The toilets are putrid and stink ALWAYS. the hand dryer does not work on the wall. the paper towels are always finished. For an indoor gym the place is highly moist constantly there is no fresh air into the gym it makes it a very high bacterial place. The air condition leaks every time it rains. These things need to be addressed immediately
Hi Psalm18:2, thank you for the comments and so we can best follow up and address some of these can you please let us know what time of day your training and seeing these things occur? As a 24 hour operation things can get missed at time (ie paper towels are replenished every 4 hours) so if you can please help us with the time of day then we can look into increasing frequency and solve a lot of these issues.
Negative experience: Never had a problem with the Worlds Gym franchise until my first visit at Marconi. For starters, upon arriving at the gym, a casual visit was forced into having a membership consultation. This interaction as a Marconi first timer, left us confused and already slightly uneasy. We were left having to wait not only for a Sales Representative, but just entry onto the main gym floor after paying for the casual visit. The rules of media usage don’t seem to equally align with both members and staff (Even had to justify what lens was used to ensure it was only of myself and another counterpart). The part that was most irritating was witnessing staff fool around with the use of a camera, but we were lectured about usage moments prior. Many could say he was filming his client, and we could make the argument that we’re doing the same thing and there were no other gym members in any of the footage taken. Other gyms such as Gregory Hills, Chullora, Moore Park have never had a problem. Later on, another interaction made us slightly uncomfortable as we were addressed by two staff members who made us feel as though we had justify ourselves and show them what was being filmed. We stopped filming and cut our session short due to the overall experience thus far. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the policies of camera usage, but if members are going to be lectured, staff should also have the same ruling. For those entering the first time here’s a few tips; 1. There is a lack of facility ventilation, so please drink plenty of water and bring a towel. 2. If you’re going to bring a camera, please ask staff about the facility rules and let them know, YOU will be filming YOURSELF. 3. If you’re not very social and come to just workout, this is not your gym. Members are very social and have a lot to say, especially if you’re a bigger bloke or a more muscular female. Not a pleasant experience with one of the members interrupting our workout and not minding their business.
Hi Tatyanna, thank you for your well thought out review. I hope I can address some of the points and help you feel better about your visit. In some aspects we are unique from the other gyms as we are located on a Club premises. Our landlord is a registered liquor and gaming venue, some of those rules (visitation items) extend to the entire premises which includes the tenants such as us. We attempt to ensure all rules are followed and applied equally. Your feedback is appreciated and will check the visitation time to follow up on things internally. Ideally if you wish to film in the future please send us a message on social media (or email) prior to attending. There are certain times of day that aren't allowed and items that we like to address before any filming begins to make sure its suitable for both parties.
Positive experience: Big range of equipment.. too crowded.. always hot

Fantastic experience: Best Gym in Western Sydney by far. World class equipment and plenty of it. Knowledgeable and helpful staff as well as really cool patrons who make my Gym experience an enjoyable one everytime. I wish I joined up here years ago

Fantastic experience: I visited the place to inspect today and there was a woman whose name I forgot, but she was wearing a J necklace around her neck. She inspected and explained the place to us in all its details. I will travel overseas for a Christmas holiday and then I will return to join this nice Gym. To everyone who leaves a bad comment for this Gym, I would like to tell you that you are wrong. I tried anytime fitness Wetherill park, it is very bad and all the people who works there have no experience or attitude of dealing with customers .

Fantastic experience: Best gym, I have been to so many gym around Wetherill Park area and none of them come close to the atmosphere, the service and the equipment. The people at the reception are very genuine. Denzel, Shanice and Jordan make you feel so welcome when you walk in all the time.

Negative experience: Worst gym I've ever been to!! the AC is always off on a very hot days.. working out with out oxygen plus i have asthma! Ive complained so many times but nothing have been changed im not the only one is complaining too many people are complaining about this thing and they do nothing..!
Hi Robert - thank you for the feedback. We can certainly assure you that the AC is on during hot days, at the moment (May, 1 week away from winter) it is quiet cold and most people are wearing jumpers so it is on during most of the day for airflow and off at night. As I'm sure you understand, items like AC are very hard to find levels everyone is satisfied as one person will feel it is too hot while the other too cold. The same as the music. In general we aim to cool the gym to 21 degrees during the warmer days/months. I hope this helps, I appreciate the feedback and apologies that we weren't able to meet your expectations on this one.
Negative experience: I wish I can give zero stars. This gym is only open to steal money. I've tried cancelling my weekly subscription (due to medical issues) so many times and regadless of my requests and complains they kept charging me weekly. Very ignorant and disgusting behaviour. I must point out that when I joined for weekly fees, I distinctively asked for any cancelation terms and conditions and was told there is non. however this wasn't the case when it came to canceling
Hi Afrah, we appreciate your comments after your visit to the facility today. As spoken about, please refer to the email we sent you on 10th November 2022 regarding your membership. We suspended your membership for 6 months due to medical at absolutely no cost, we outlined in this email the date that suspension would finish and billing resume (last week). We also outlined the cancellation options in this email. We have also followed up our in person chat with another email today for your records. At the time of joining everyone is sent a copy of their agreement automatically which also includes a cooling off period. I apologise you feel that we haven't been transparent however you have not been billed at all during the time your membership was on suspension and you did not reply to the email in regards to cancellation
Negative experience: I do not recommend dealing with Jordan. I was told I was going to get my fees waved by Jordan as I hadn’t been going to the gym. When I went to set up my direct debit again she made me pay the same amount. After reminding her that she had previously stated she wasn’t going to charge me, she still continued going ahead with the payment. Jordan not only lied to me but she never explained herself properly and didn’t take then time of her day to explain why she was still charging me for “outstanding fees”. Would highly not recommend dealing with Jordan as she very dishonest and terrible to deal with.
Hi Mariam, thank you for the review. Sorry that you have had this experience however we have attempted to explain the situation on the phone, in text, email and when you visited in person. Your access to the gym was stopped due to failed membership payments. There was a total of ~5 months of missed payments from 16/12/21 to the last attempted debit on 09/04/2022. We offered to accept a one off payment of a reduced amount to clear all outstanding balances - this discount was agreed too and given in your favour. You attended the facility and made that payment, it was made clear at the time and you provided your card for payment. You made a choice not to rejoin the facility. I will follow this up by emailing the supporting documents and summary to you however regardless of the situation on overdue fees I hope you enjoyed your time at the gym and continue with your health and fitness.
Fantastic experience: This gym has been nothing but amazing to me for the last 3 years, the workers are great to talk to and genuinely care about you. The equipment supersedes any other gym that I have trained and and the environment is phenomenal. Even in its worst times you can always trust that the team and the owner have the members best interests at mind. It's great to see a business where the owner is still heavily invested and still cares even after the gym being successful. At times there is a significant amount of people training and it can be tough to get a machine but most members are always open to working on the same machine together.

Myself & my father are still involved in the business most days of the week but often stuck in the office or wandering the gym floor in training cloths so I'm glad to know its noticed that I'm around and still care just the same as the start. Fantastic experience: Hands down best gym in the area. It has the most space and best equipment a member could ask for. Everything is hammer strength and theres a massive functional area with sleds, boxes and free weights. The staff are lovely and always making sure the gym is neat and tidy - would recommend this gym to everybody!!!

Fantastic experience: Best gym in the area, i have been training here since it opened under the new owner a few years ago and i have no intentions of going anywhere else, great facility, great morning crowd and staff are very friendly. You never wait weeks for equipment to be repaired, everything is well maintained and they often add new equipment. Just a overall positive experience.

Negative experience: A bunch of snakes! They tell you, you automatically become a member to the club when you sign up but I had to pay for a membership your name ain’t even on the system. You sign up for a year only and they still continue your contract without you knowing. During covid my membership should’ve ended but the time we had restrictions they only paused it then added time left lost from covid. You call them to cancel it and when they finally get back to you they’ll add another “final 30 days” before they terminate it. This franchise doesn’t connect to the other world gyms. The price doesn’t match the limited facilities. Biggest rip off gym I’ve been to & I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Hi Django, sorry you've had this experience with us. Let me try and clear up some of the misconceptions and let me know if there is anything I can do from here to help. Anyone that is 18 years or older becomes a member with us also becomes a member of our landlord, Club Marconi, at no cost to the customer. After the first year this is the customers responsibility and ~$10 per year to continue with the club's membership. The membership agreements we use are ongoing and are emailed to you at the time of joining with a cooling off period for you to review and opt out if you are not happy, after that the minimum term applies. During the covid lockdown in 2021 all of the agreements were placed on pause and no payments were taken however they were not cancelled unless requested. The franchise is connected nationally to all of the other World Gym's, we would not be allowed to operate with the brand name if that was not the case, we offer a World Gym Passport membership that allows you to visit any World Gym club in the country and this is available for the same price at any gym nationally - we also provide a 10 visit travel pass upon request for people to use when on holidays. Sorry you had a poor experience with us. I hope this clears up some of the information and if there is something we can do further to help please reach out

Fantastic experience: 8th July 2022 I came to this gym cos Id read good reviews & I wasnt disappointed. Friendly helpful staff, a huge variety of equipment & yoga & fitness classes included in the weekly price. I attended a yoga class at 9 15am on a Thursday as my trial, the instructor being one I had previously had ages ago at another venue. I really enjoyed the class & the instructor modified the poses for me as I have bad knees. I signed up after & came to another yoga class Friday. I feel so good to be doing yoga again. Luckily this great gym is just up the road. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Beware of the contracts. Promise no lock in then change it to lock in. Even if you sign up at cancel at anytime contract they rip you off with extra one month notice . Never again. You actually changed it after sign up, I still have the sms from mell
Hi Steve. It is not possible for us to change a contract. For every contract issued an email is sent with a full copy, and we include a 7 day cooling off period at the time of joining to every member to avoid any confusion. Please check for your original email that was sent at the time of joining to clear this up. All of our gym payments/contracts are handled by DebitSuccess and we are given a limited portal. The only way to make alterations to the contract term/price is with a signed variation form from the member, we are required to put in a request to change any details and include that for them to be made. We do not have the power to change terms at our leisure. To resolve this I will look into how the process can be made more transparent, review all of the account notes and attempt to follow up with you during normal business hours. Speak soon

Fantastic experience: Great gym! It’s very inviting and both members and staff are friendly. It has all the equipment you need for both cardio and weights. Their retail is well stocked with supplements, drinks and meals. They also make protein shakes so it’s a great go to for after your workout!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to soo many gym throughout my fitness journey and I can confidently say that world gym is hard to compete with. The culture is amazing, everyone is so supportive. Literally feels like my second home. Ngl when i decided to train there, I thought that I would feel intimidated, but as soon as I step foot in, I felt so welcomed. Highly recommend to anyone who’s looking to improve on their fitness and mental health.

We actually began with new cleaners this month. If you could indicate if it was morning/afternoon/night time of day we can look at the structure closer and make sure its not a consistent thing as cleanliness is something we take seriously. Fantastic experience: The best gym I've ever been to. By far, WGM is the best facility around. From the management, to the staff to the equipments. The staff here is incredibly friendly and extremely knowledgeable!!! Such a family vibe as soon as you walk in the doors and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Fantastic experience: World Gym is the best in the local area! Always so clean and tidy, staff are friendly and always willing to help. Dealt with Mel who was extremely friendly and helpful. A massive gym floor with a great range of up to date equipment and a wide variety of machinery for cardio upstairs. If you're new to the gym world or just appreciate some structure and assistance, the classes are a great option, ranging from HIIT classes to Yoga classes with instructors who are knowledgable and friendly. Free creche which is a great convenience for parents and a Barbell cafe so you can grab your protein shakes after your workout and don't need to worry if you've forgotten your pre workout- they have you covered! Couldn't recommend this gym enough! Overall a great vibe and a place I look forward to attending :)

Fantastic experience: I absolutely hate the new gyms we currently have such as fitness first, anytime fitness, crunch etc, I started working out in a very old school school gym, no rubberized equipment, no fancy padding, no bludging, and most importantly they used great equipment, Ever since my old gym had changed owners i've been trying to find a gym with the same hard training environment and most importantly the same kind of equipment as this type of equipment isn't cheap which is hammer strength, safe to say I've found my forever gym and i cant wait to start training once covid is over.

Negative experience: Mel was the salesperson that signed me up for this gym. She mentioned at the time of signing up that if you get an injury we'll be able to cancel your contract without cancellation fees if you present a certificate from your gp. Months later when I presented the certificate she started hanging on to contractual terms like you need to have a 'permanently incapacitating injury' and refused to acknowledge my lower back problem as permanent. I was told by the receptionist that the owner/manager himself has something similar and that he was never the same after the injury. It is common knowledge that back injuries are permanent. Other than that the facilities are great and very clean. Just stay away from Mel.

Fantastic experience: This gym is a place I look forward to first thing in the morning because over the period of 2 years training here, I've not only transformed my training lifestyle for the better but also helped developed my social speaking abilities through their natural community culture. The value you get out of the gym is so much more than just the BIG BOX gym with so much equipment, weights and machines. A place to meet like minded people who want to better themselves and better each other. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to start out on a new journey or those wanting to step up their training to the next level.

Negative experience: Attention management! Your gym is very dirty and feels unhygienic. At times like this there must be some reassurance with some guidelines and advice on social distancing.. For example: providing at least 1.5 meters of space between treadmills or placing signage advising of social distancing. None the less the least to be done at this point is to clean your gym.
We are so sorry that you've had this experience with us. Can see that this post was made at 10pm on Saturday outside of staffed hours. Our staff finish at 6pm and cleaners come at midnight. This is something we would love to look in to and see how we can better manage the situation and improve the customer experience.
