Negative experience: No air con, or at least it’s never on even with 40 degree days. Only one leg press machine. Limited hours, despite signage stating 24/7. Does have a boxing room though so gets a star for that.

Negative experience: DON'T SIGN UP TO GOODLIFE UNLESS YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE WORST SERVICE OF YOUR LIFE!!! This is by far the most scammy gym I have ever been to and the customer service is appalling! I tried to cancel my membership after a year, only to be told with no thought from staff that I have another 15 months or something to serve. After pointing this out, which took a week to resolve, I was told of a final pay out date and that my account would be cancelled. Low and behold, i was debitted again. I contacted the gym again and was told "go talk to the debit team, we can't help you". After pointing out the previous emails with screenshots, I'm told "Oh well sorry they have you an inappropriate response". I asked for a full history of my payments to be sent to me and I'm basically told to get post and call the debit company and they can't help. What a joke!!!

Negative experience: I have been a loyal customer with this gym for a long period of time going back to when it was Recreation Carnegie. Up until recently I was satisfied with the gym and stayed a member due to the excellent Bodyjam classes on offer, despite moving much further away to a different side and suburb of Melbourne. The Bodyjam classes are no longer offered due to the great instructor stopping. My concerns and issues with the gym have been over the last 6 weeks. I communicate to the staff and had confirmation via email of suspending my membership whilst overseas for 11 weeks. Part of this communication included confirmation there would be no charge of 5-10 dollars per fortnight for the suspended period, which is often the case. I have now been charged three times during this period and have contacted the gym via email to cancel my membership now two times regarding the issues. I have received no response from the gym to my emails, being overcharged and wanting to cancel my membership. I'm extremely disappointed after being a member with the gym for a long period of time at the lack of communication and repeated issues now being experienced.

Negative experience: You pay the same price as other high level good life gyms, but the space is tiny, all the equiptment, especially the benches, are old and out dated, benches have broke numerous time and just fixed instead of replaced, I've hurt my back using them and the gym didn't do anything to improve the standards or even get back to my complaint

Negative experience: TLDR: They charged me after I cancelled my contract as a new member, during the cool off period. I also didn't have a great experience with their gym equipment. Would not recommend! Full context: I signed up on the 20th of March as part of the gym jump contract. This means, I was never meant to be charged until the gym membership at my other gym expired (1st May). On the 20th of March, I visited the gym and the equipment didn't feel smooth. For example, the calf raise machine didn't seem properly oiled so it felt like I couldn't get a proper contraction. Other smaller issues also noticed, they're leg press machine moves the platform, they don't have enough kettle bells to hold one in each hand. So, you might find it difficult to train beyond weights. From this experience, I cancelled my membership the next day in the morning (21st March). The call operator said that was fine and I thought that was the end of it. Later that day I was charged the weekly fee. I called the gym and they apologised and said it was a mistake. They mentioned the refund would take 1-2 weeks to process. After 2 weeks, no refund. I call again, and they were unresponsive during their staffed hours. I thought they might be busy with clients, so I email them. I get a call back 2-3 days later saying the same thing again "Your refund will be processed in another 5-10 days". Day 11, I have no doubt they are not giving me my refund. Although I've been told multiple times it was their mistake and they would process the refund, I am yet to receive updates. From my experience, it seems like they may have an awkward billing team which have issues with time management and contract management. The equipment is okay but I believe theirs better options with similar price.

Negative experience: update: actual temperature readings- not healthy :( 18 Dec 2023- 28 degrees outside, 29° in the gym! 19 Dec 2023- 19° outside, 23° in the gym 9 Oct 2024- 15° outside, 24° in the gym! 24 Oct 2024- 16°outside, 21° inside 12 Nov 2024- 24°outside, 25° inside I wish the management would realise that not every person leaving a bad review here is just whinging. You need to improve. Start with the aircon; people are consistently saying they want aircon. I measured the temperature in the cardio room a few times: 28 degrees outside, 28 degrees inside! Not healthy. All you have to do is turn the aircon back on, then close the front doors like you used to. Okay so you'd have to open them for customers with wheelchairs, would only take a few seconds each time. You can fix this one thing, if nothing else.....

Negative experience: Christ looking at the recent reviews it seems some other members have beaten me to it. The place is miserable. I’ll just fire off a list because I could honestly write an essay 1. WEIGHT ROOM IS HOT I have personally queried this with the staff there and got a literal shrug of the shoulders like? It’s 40 degrees in the gym and 24 degrees outside. Sort it out. Be lucky if the aircon is on in the cardio room at all. 2. Equipment takes forever to be fixed, bolts on the leg press machine have been loose forever. Where’s the regular inspection of equipment? Is that even a thing? 3. Change rooms smell pretty bad, might have something to do with the damp carpet. Half the lockers have been changed to some weird padlock type. Sorry I don’t carry around a spare padlock around to use these? 4. Probably the worst of this entire list is the ridiculous opening hours. Closing at 6pm on the weekends is simply unacceptable. If you’re going to be open 50% of the time then my fee should be cut in half too. I, like many other people work full time and during the majority of the hours that this gym is open. Between 7am and 6pm week days. Going to the gym between 3 and 8pm is chaos and unenjoyable (and hot). Going after this time is quite late but the gym then closes at 10pm anyway…. When I do get some free time in the afternoons on a weekend the joint is closed. Very kind of them to give me an after hours key card for a different gym. 5. This last one is not the gyms fault but the building management - that car park was designed by a psychopath I’m convinced. I thought goodlife would be an upgrade from the ‘budget’ choice Zap. Doesn’t seem like it so far.

Negative experience: I canceled my plan 6 months ago and these guys are still charging me. I'm aware that you have to pay for another 30 days if you want to cancel your membership, but 6months? I've emailed them twice and no response... This is unacceptable.

Negative experience: Do not join good life gym waste of space tell you there is 0 joing fee and around 24 dollers a week .poor sales person very poor explain things about codes as they said they had so many give out but why did they tell me from the start and when i ring up and to come at 3 oclock they said ya come in then turned around and said na its $99 join and 24 dollers a week then they made and deal with me and dont brother to email what they said on the table in writing i got missed around from the start and today i ring up debitsuccess they told me the talking money out... and the gym has been cancelled your membership by goodlife and i went of my chops on the phone to them ..think think they dont give a hoot about good customer service...if you dont join them they call you 2 times a day on going i dont think they take a hint by stop calling you after 4 calls or so

Negative experience: Very unhappy with the amenities, the hidden fees practices, the inability to speak to a supervisor, there is no app and staff who work there are completely indifferent. The other day I walked in there was a spill and when the staff member was showing me around didn't even bother of cleaning it. I am only waiting for this subscription to finish so I can cancel this and move on. Staff on the phone extremely incompetent

Negative experience: The gym states a certain time but if the gym is unmanned by the reception it stays closed. There is no sincerity in timing and we can never know if the gym is open or closed. Not to mention the carpet in the washrooms collecting mould. The management does not want to improve services nor improve the timing of the gym for their clients.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Very large with a plethora of machines, free weights, cardio machines. sectioned studios for specific workouts, classes. Staff have been nothing but kind and helpful since I joined. Very busy during peak periods, but what gym isn't. The only downside is the Daniel's Donuts you have to walk past everytime you go in or out. The mental struggle is real everytime I attend.

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant about joining this join has the reviews are low. However, this gym has the best time table of classes I've ever experienced. I've done body combat, attack and jam and they have all been AMAZING. It is nice they have body attack or combat every single day, including Sundays. Instructers are awesome. Would recommend if you are a class person.

Fantastic experience: I really like this place, I come all the time and the staff are really friendly. The equipment is great and is replaced quickly if damaged. The only negative thing i can say is they need to switch off unused power points, we only have 1 planet.

Positive experience: Goodlife Carnegie is spacious and well-equipped. Apart from a large cardio area and free weight area, there are 3 studios and 2 boxing/cross fit room with an extensive group fitness timetable that accommodates gym-goers all week around. Some equipments are however, quite old and outdated. But there are alternative options if you don’t mind juggling around free weights and machine. It seems like there’s always space for you, although the staff might not make you feel so warming. The receptionist is pretty helpful and friendly, except the tall guy. Try to talk to the ladies if you need a hand. That man just doesn’t seem to care much and will dismiss you as soon as possible. One of the trainers might give you a death stare from time to time, but he’s alright. Male change room/shower is spacious, too, but with questionable hygiene. The smell makes me cringe. It’s probably one of the worst change room odour among numerous gyms I’ve been to in the last 10 years. That smell lingers like my drunk uncle and doesn’t go away ever. I sometimes wonder if there’s something rotten in the locker. There’s a few lockers that smell awful too. Try your luck. (Please do something about that smell) Overall, I think I’d give it a 4-4.5 star considering my gym sessions are all smooth and no disturbance from broken machine and phone weight lifters, and the classes bring the value of the membership to an even greater bargain. You like lifting 5 days or just go to the classes? Maybe a bit of a mix? There’s something that fits you. But at this stage, a 3-star will fit until they crack a smile more often like I’m there to work out instead of collecting their mother’s ashes. And please, get rid of that smell. — Updates 5/9/23 Added one more star because I don’t see the tall guy at that reception that much anymore. Other staff members are more friendly.

Positive experience: Good location, but not enough Weight machines, one of each kind, and need to wait ages sometimes. Saturdays and Sundays are super busy, however, the studios were empty and big, not in use most of the time. Waste of space....hope the owner arranges the classes better, gets rid of the empty space, and gets more weight machines, so people don't need to wait for a long time to do one set of exercises, especially when a machine needs maintenance, there is no machine to replace.

Negative experience: Leg press machine is not working for few months now and the staff says they need to do formalities, talk to head office which takes time. My question is if you only have one leg press machine, why not take it on priority and fix it. Basically the management and the staff is very lazy, they don't want to work but just sip the pre-workout and stare people. I must say that the gym is in a terrible condition. The stench of sweat and mold is overpowering, making it impossible to breathe. The flooring is broken and uneven, posing a serious safety hazard to the members. Furthermore, the locker rooms are filthy, and the showers are clogged with hair and debris. The gym seems to have no regard for the well-being of its members. There are no trained staff or personal trainers available to assist members in their workout routine, leaving many members confused and disoriented. The lack of proper maintenance has led to an increasing number of injuries, and the gym's management appears indifferent to this problem. It is high time that the gym management take responsibility for the appalling conditions of the gym and make immediate changes. The gym needs to be thoroughly cleaned, and new equipment needs to be added to replace the rusted, outdated ones. The humidity and temperature issues need to be addressed, and the basic amenities such as wipes, towels, and drinking water need to be provided. If the gym management does not take quick and appropriate action, I fear that more members will suffer injuries, and the gym's reputation will be irreparably damaged. I strongly urge the gym management to prioritize the safety and well-being of its members and take swift action to remedy these issues.

Negative experience: I wish I can give below 1 star. This review is for reception and staff taking new customers. When me and my wife joined the gym the prices were high for us and to reduce price they gave us an offer to refer 20 friends and weekly money will be reduced and we accepted the offer. I asked what if I want to quit the gym they said no cooling period you can quit directly. Now when I went gym to cancel the membership they said for 1 month your money will keep debited from account you can’t cancel immediately. When I said that I was being told when I joined they refused and said it’s your fault you believed our staff, you should read T&C before signing, I was just shocked by their reply. I told I can’t keep paying for 1 month for 2 people without using gym it’s too much money they said if you didn’t have money why you joined gym before 6 months. Staff is always very arrogant and they behave like they are the premium gym operating in ANZ.

Positive experience: Nice gym, love going to it.. the trainers are great except the Zumba instructor.. feels like he is partial to the people whom he knows or have been coming around for the long time.. being a newbie, it feels like a toxic environment where the old members will pass comments about the new members to him in the middle of class and he kinds of entertain/acknowledge them (like someone is stinking and let’s show them).. I understand you tend to develop a relationship but the humour shouldn’t come from belittling someone.. Also tried to talk to him many times but he would just not look at you and be busy with his crew..

Negative experience: The biggest scam of a gym. Have had a membership for almost 2 years & they’re still trying to get $150 out of me for cancelling even though the contract I signed was 12 months. Super unprofessional to deal with- lying to me over the phone just to get their money & then never actually call me back. Would not recommend this gym to anyone.

Positive experience: Convenient with friendly staff, clean, plenty of equipment and a good range of classes. Additional weights & bars recently purchased for the classes ensures plenty of equipment available. Includes a large boxing studio which can be used anytime. Free weights and weight machines are plentiful and available.

Fantastic experience: Always come for classes with Peter regardless of where I have been living (was previously just a few minutes walk away). I used to drive 35 minutes. Now, I have a Goodlife within 15 minutes walk but now take 30-40 minutes via 2 trains just to get there because it's worth it!

Fantastic experience: Been going to this gym on and off for the last 12ish years. Nothing fancy, no frills, but it’s a great environment to train. The staff are really friendly and the place is clean and sanitary. I do miss the sauna and I do wish they would extend there hours, but it’s still great non the less. It’s the gym I have felt most comfortable going to… and I’ve been to many. Very welcoming.

Fantastic experience: Hi there, I am a long term Member who joined in 2018. In reference to Good Life Gym Carnegie. The Staff are very nice and polite. There is a welcoming atmosphere, and positive vibration to improve your fitness and achieve your personal goals in terms of fitness. I would strongly recommend communicating with Leha, Greta, Emma,... These ladies are well presented and outspoken, following the gentlemen Jeet that I dealt with They are highly,welcoming and polite with excellent customer service. Overall it is the best Good Life CLub that I am extremely happy and comfortable in. The place is extremely clean. Suits my standards and expectations. Customer Service is a 10 as there is a Positive and inviting atmosphere ,10!. I personally would improve the time of opening as unfortunately, it is not a 24/7 club. I would improve the type of Music while practising exercise. The time will have to be extended. Everything else I am happy with the general running. Good Life Gym, Carnegie is situated in Carnegie Central. It is a coming up Middle Class suburb. Hope the Management will change running times and play more outgoing and modern music,to spread the groove and the motivation for the customers.

Negative experience: Very unreasonable charges when I want to cancel my membership due to covid. I will never go back to goodlife again ever. They did not only provide any information on financial hardship but also tried to rip me off whenever they can. No other gym does that in the area. Don’t go there. Whole story is that I have told the company during lockdown in June 2021 that I do not wish to continue with their services as I dont feel comfortable to go back to the gym. The company says no, you have to inform us 30days before you want to terminate the contract and continue to pay the membership for 30days. I said to them that I just told you so. So, effectively, they just told me that I have to come back after the lockdown period which is six months later when they reopened their door and to pay them a month worth gym fees then I can go. This is so so wrong! You have no intention to improve your services whatsoever. You just rip people off when they are most vulnerable. I may not feel comfortable to go back to gym at moment but I will go back to gym when covid is not a concern anymore. For how long, I dont know but I will never come back to your gym again!

Negative experience: Covid hotspot - Do not join (No AirCondition in weight section) Leg press machine - Not working at all. Ovidiu Moldovan, the manager doesn't want to agree that machine doesn't work, they just want to keep increasing fees. It's a very unique gym with nothing working really. They tried to trap me with contract but I was smart enough to try this for few days. Basically within 2 days, I found that most of the machines there are not working, you sit on back rowing machine and it just snaps and hurts you. The leg extension machine, chest press machines, lat pull down, some of the benches, all are in poor state. Be very careful, even if you're offered free membership, don't risk it, injury is inevitable with this gym. Basic things are not present, hard to find 2.5kg or 5kg weights, knobs are not there. It's a cheap quality gym but expensive, be careful of those salesmen who will try and trap you in contract so that you can't leave. Also 4 weeks notice period to leave this gym. It's a joke, probably converting the gym to restaurant might work better for them One more thing, they don't use air condition here, so on hot days, you can't workout practically, I have informed receptionist and she said because the gym is inside the mall, they can't do anything. Strictly avoid, there are high chances of catching covid due to ventilation issues here. You can see the photos, rubber is totally melted.

Fantastic experience: I had to cancel my membership last week, was told of a substantial balance owing to cancel it. After communicating directly with the centre manager Huwyn, explaining my personal situation- membership was cancelled with no balance owing. Really appreciate the kind gesture extended to me. Pays to call and speak with the Manager directly.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with the customer service of Goodlife Health Clubs. up until now I was a happy and loyal customer of the Goodlife Health clubs for over 7 years, however due to circumtances of COVID I recently tried to cancel my membership and was treated very poorly! Instead of treating me with respect, understanding and appreciating my loyalty, the Goodlife team quickly informed me that in order to cancel my membership I had to pay an additional 1 months worth of membership without being able to use the gym facilities. In normal circumstances the cancellation policy which includes giving 30 days of paid notice is reasonable assuming that gym access and services are accessible, but in the current COVID situation where all gyms are closed in Melbourne the policy should not hold. They informed me that 2 weeks pay was already subtracted from my account in the previous billing cycle from lockdown. So I asked for a refund as I was unable to use the services stated in my contract. They refused to refund my credited money and cancel my membership without the additional fortnightly payment. When I asked for further clarification I was ignored and informed money would be taken out of my account when gyms reopen in Melbourne. Be wary of hidden fees.

Negative experience: Worst gym in the area. Thankfully with help from other reviews and seeing it for myself, I last minute decided not to join this gym. Genuinely don't think gym is providing anything beneficial. From the hidden costs they don't tell you about to the poorly serviced equipment, plenty of better, cheaper and friendlier gyms around.

Negative experience: Large weight room but lots of equipments are faulty and non-adjustable. Missing 5kg weights and some of the benches are faulty and have safety concerns. I urge the management to look into it, it can be dangerous to use them. Also during covid , the capacity requirement is not met, I see that the gym is very crowded and not safe to workout. Please operate the business according to VIC guidelines.

Negative experience: Avoid this gym unless you want to have nightmares. I cancelled my membership, gave the notice indicated in the contract and paid the fees. But they still call and email me asking me for my updated bank details.

Negative experience: Totally unprofessional instructors. I went to attend the circuit class on Friday and instructor asked me to get a pass. No other classes require pass, when I went to reception the manager asked me to accommodate but instructor denied it even though it's 18 limit (written outside) The instructors and manager of this gym are clueless and unprofessional. Some classes want the pass whereas some don't. Its a mess. Also the weight section of this gym is totally not working, most machines are out of order most of the times. In spite of requesting multiple times, the gym manager doesn't pay any attention. Ideally the business should reach out to customers once they raise complaints but this club requires customer to reach out to them, huh.

Negative experience: Weights room is good. I wish they would get some better instructors for the classes. Some trainers like Josh are really uninspiring and just mope around the room looking at their watch. Get another job if you hate what you do.

Fantastic experience: This isn’t simply a gym. It’s your local, friendly, neighbourhood fitness community that you’re connecting with. The faces will become familiar, the staff will check in with you as you progress. Eventually you’ll feel part of the family. All driven towards being your best self. This place has it all and is still a bit of a secret top level tucked away at the top of Carnegie Central Plaza. When the rains pour down you can watch the view right up to the city skyline. Or dive into the ever chill kick boxing room to release some stress on those bags. Have fun, don’t forget to say hi. :)

Fantastic experience: Absolutely impressed. Temperature check at reception desk. Hand sanitiser everywhere. Staff wonderful and up to date with all Covid proceedures. Classes kept low in numbers. Instructors reminding us to put masks on outside of classes. Great to be back.

Negative experience: I was going to not post a review based on my original experiences both joining and terminating this gym. I can forgive a lot. However, after having to re-iterate I cancelled my "month to month" account in March 2020 for the third time I need to make others aware of the straight shady practices of this gym, Goodlife Carnegie. I now have to respond to their partner, Debit Success, about overdue amounts that have been charged in November 2020 when my membership was terminated in March 2020. Not only is this the second time his gym, Goodlife Carnegie, fraudulently authorised debits for a terminated account WITHOUT my consent, it is nigh on impossible to contact them at all regarding anything by phone, email or web contact form. Even when I was a paying member their lack of responsiveness to general enquiries and requests for help was astonishing.

Fantastic experience: Spacious gym with large free weights area, loads of cardio equipment and a huge selection of classes to choose from. Staff are freindly and willing to assist. Due to its location it does get quite busy at peak times so try to your best to workout outside of these times.

Negative experience: One of the WORST gyms I have ever been a member of / worked at. Firstly I had been a member of Recreation Carnegie and then Goodlife Carnegie for over 7 years. I then became a staff member for 1.5 years even though they treat their staff poorly but I stayed on because I loved the members. The reception staff sit on their phones all day long and do not greet their memebrs one bit. They keep their heads down and have zero knowledge of what happens in the gym. Any questions I had as a staff member they were clueless too. Gym floor is constantly a mess, weights thrown everywhere, equipment constantly out of order and rubbish on the floor. As a staff member microphones were constantly breaking and lack of care from others around the gym. They made it so difficult for me to go from being a member- to staff- back to a paying member, even though I had been there for so long. I had to fight an arm and leg just to get even close to what I had been paying previously. Now that I've finally decided to leave, they've charged me an extra month even though I gave my 30 day notice 30 days ago, I'm now paying another month of membership I will not use. Managment really do not value any of their memebrs or staff and only care about the money / sales, which has been shown on multiple occasions. This is extremely disappointing and I know many other members that have left over the years because of the same reasons. So here we go 7+ years later and I can't even quit properly. Pathetic customer service. Managment did not seem to care one bit and this just shows they have zero loyalty to their members or staff. An extremely unprofessional gym and environment and I would recommend avoiding at all costs. Had once been a place I'd loved coming too, and now don't want anything to do with it. Good on you Goodlife.

Negative experience: The gym was good but I always had trouble paying. I canceled my plan 1 month in advance because they ask it that way, even so they continued charging for 3 weeks more. I sent them an email and they didn't answer, I can't go to complain because I left the country. I do not recommend it.

Positive experience: It is what it is - uncaring commercial gym. Don't expect anything to ever change because no issues have ever been addressed that many people have complained about in the last few years. Not actually 24/7 despite signs claiming such hours..

Negative experience: Not Goodlife at all, just RUBBISHLIFE. They charged $99 for joining and $195 for cancellation, maybe more than that for other plans and it's totally unreasonable. Besides those rules are different for customers, they just charge people arbitrarily with no reasons. Alice Lee said "Google reviews are so helpful. I should have read all the reviews and rating before joining" and I 500% agree with that. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM.

Negative experience: 1. they have a 24/7 sign which is so not the truth. wish they can open a bit later for weekend instead of closing at 6.30pm 2. apparently customers in here can get totally different price for the same level of entry. some get half the price of others (or even much lower quote) it's a lot about bargaining skills and trying to cancel before the one week free trial Google reviews are so helpful. I should have read all the reviews and rating before joining. the problems you are facing are also experienced by others

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym ️‍♂️ facilities and staff. All above a Woolworths and a Daniels donuts. The club has been there since spotlight centre opened formally recreation. Its a good place to go it's convenient and a good clean club.
