Fantastic experience: A really fantastic globo gym in Sydney that has pretty much almost everything you need. If you’re a bodybuilder, there’s heaps of machines that you can choose from, and if you’re a powerlifter, they’ve got benches and fancy Eleiko plates. The space is absolutely massive, trainers and staff (shoutouts to Zuyi, Jiani, and MICHAEL) are super cool and friendly, and everything is maintained pretty well.

Fantastic experience: I went to 5 gyms trying to find one that would look after us for 4 weeks while we were in town for work, 1 after another it was a nightmare but Onyx had the magic month with no brutal additional fees which most gyms slap you with. Its hard finding gyms that look after short stays but Onyx has great rates and in addition is a great Gym which rarely happens(we travel alot for work so we know) and Onyx is definitely our Sydney gym of choice in the future when we go back. Great atmosphere, good friendly staff and strikes that very difficult balance that welcomes ever shape and body and makes them feel comfortable. You will see every type of person training from first timers, casuals, regulars, powerlifters, calisthenics peeps, IFBB amateurs and ICN contenders. Great range of cardio equipment and free weights, cable and free weight equipment. Absolutely everything you need to destroy yourself and come back stronger. Really hope they expand to more locations

Fantastic experience: Probably the best gym I've ever been a member of. Amazing equipment, super friendly and helpful staff and some of the best personal trainers I've seen in gyms. Also Zuyi gives the best remedial massages I've ever had! Really excited to try the recover package when it opens.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing! We are passionate gym goers and we found ONYX Gym really great, clean, very friendly staff, great equipment and plenty of space. We can’t recommend it enough. 24/7, very easy use to use app, plenty car park spaces and we would absolutely go back there. Plus, sometimes they do loads of samples, the occasional protein cookie, healthy drinks etc. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: If you're serious about your training and you're in the Alexandria area, the convo starts and ends with ONYX. If you're a training nerd, you'll appreciate the equipment selection which is well thought out and very comprehensive. There's plenty of everything from cables to machines to DBs that I never feel stifled in my sessions... even when the gym's at its busiest. The crew and clientele are friendly. There's ample cardio. Everything works and is well maintained. Great vibes all around.

Negative experience: Guys I hope you act on this criticism as its meant sincerely. A good gym that's ruined by the painful quality of deafening music. For some reason so many gyms play this tuneless DUMPF DUMPF non-stop on full volume. Gyms are places to workout in but also relax in. We don't really need ghetto music to inspire us or get us pumped up. You may argue that you try and "appeal to a broad range of tastes". But why do you assume that people who go to a gym in Alexandria, Sydney Australia have an affinity with low quality ghettto music from the back suburbs of Detroit ? It's stressful sounding, aggressive and vulgar to listen to and there are sooo many better music channels to pick from. I was working out at 11pm the other night and I looked around to 3 other people in the gym and all 3 had their own headphones on. I started talking to them about it and each one said the same thing. And that was that they hated the ghetto trashy music and that it was insanely loud for a night workout. Feeling like you have a sub-woofer in your own skull is not relaxing. The gym is nice but the atmosphere at night is painful. Its 2024 guys, you can do better. Take a risk and do something different from all the other plug and play gyms around the place.
Hi Sub, Thank you for your review and feedback. We pride ourselves on providing a gym experience enjoyed by all, and we’re always looking to improve. Unfortunately, we cannot find anyone by the name of “Sub Chan” in our system, so we would really appreciate it if you could reach out to us directly so we can discuss further. Please be advised that we are trying our best to be different from other gyms and our music is not from a generic channel, but instead has been created based on feedback and suggestions we collected from our members over a 12-month period. Our music consists of almost 2 days’ worth of songs, however, most of the music that has been suggested consists of hip hop or house music. Furthermore, we’ve had audio engineers assess the acoustics of our space and unfortunately it is challenging due to our all-concrete structure. However, music has been set at a level of just over 70 decibels based on recommendation. In saying this, we understand that what we have implemented may not be perfect and we are always looking to improve. We hope you take the time to reach out to us so we can discuss and see if we can implement anything further.

Fantastic experience: Facilities at Onyx are the best in the area! Super clean and great vibe and atmosphere with a really well thought through selection of strength equipment and heaps of platforms and squat racks, especially if you love training legs this gym is leg day heaven The staff are super super friendly and helpful! Always on the gym floor to assist! Overall Onyx is a great community if like minded people , all the fellow members also make the place feel like home! Would recommend to visit if you’re in the area!

Fantastic experience: Came for a casual session during my visit in Sydney and I really enjoyed my time. The gym is spacious and has all the equipment you would need. It’s clean, well-ventilated, and everything functions properly. They also have a vending machine with pre-workout and microwavable meals, as well as tables with phone charging stations! The staff that greeted us was also very lovely. Kudos to the owners; it’s well-designed. If they decide to open a branch in Melbourne, I would definitely join!

Fantastic experience: Onyx gym has a one of a kind vibe and environment. You walk in and you’re greeted by the most friendly and helpful front of house staff. They have fantastic equipment for all fitness levels and fitness styles and goals. It has a comfortable friendly member environment and not intimidating for a newbie to the gym. For an experienced and keen gym goer there is ample equipment, space and has a layout that makes perfect sense. The functional training area is spacious where they also run some fun classes including boxing run by an experienced boxing trainer. Personal trainers are the most friendly and helpful I’ve ever seen in a gym and you can tell they are all great friends as well. Owners of the gym are always around and always stopping for a chat to get to know every one of their members. I absolutely LOVE Onyx. I travel from the other side of the inner west to train there because it’s like no other fitness facility.

Fantastic experience: I've signed up to a 12 month contract and it was such a great decision, especially moving from anytime fitness. The equipment is better, the staff are sooo much friendlier and there is a parking option too. Its a very trustworthy gym, I ride my electric scooter in, leave it unattended for my session and never worry about it being taken. Couldn't recommend it more

Fantastic experience: There’s so many 24/7 Gyms around but this one stand up above the rest. Huge spaces, easy safe access and parking. The atmosphere during opening hours is top tier and everyone’s welcoming and friendly. Have only been a member about 4 months but loving it.

Fantastic experience: I joined Onyx a month ago. My experience has been absolutely great. The gym facilities are brand new. It smells clean, very inviting to train. Friendly gym community, incredible customer service, very diverse and inclusive. Super happy about my experience at ONYX. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Legendary gym as you can probably tell from the other reviews lol. Stand out for me is the ample parking and that it’s covered under fitness passport - can’t get this anywhere else in the city/ south Sydney region.

The equipments are the best available in the market and very carefully picked. Sadly we had to move overseas but will be my only choice when I Sydney

Fantastic experience: **SHOUTOUT TO COACH DAMON!! I've not had the chance to train at Onyx Gym (yet), however, I have been an online client of Coach Damon. Damon has a true passion for his craft and is an asset to any individual looking to get into shape, build good habits or even compete on stage. What seperates Coach Damon is his dedication and genuine want to go above and beyond to help his clients. Being the best part of a month with Damon, I'm in the best shape of my life!

Positive experience: Good facility with lots of equipment and space but it really needs a deep clean, especially the bathroom and showers. For a new place, it should be in a lot better shape. Lights are harsh and music is loud.

Fantastic experience: By far the best gym! The team is amazing and really friendly. Love that they have a large variety of machines and free weight equipment, it’s always kept really clean and tidy. They even supply foam rollers and yoga mats for stretching pre and post workouts. They even offer plenty of secure parking too. Would highly recommend checking out this gym!
