Negative experience: Awful feet/ shoes smell everywhere, I couldn't stay longer than 5 min and there's no ventilation so the smell is still stuck in my nose. Unfortunately I had paid already

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Urban Climb Newstead today. Staff very friendly and helpful, great variance of climbs and grades. Still fairly new to climbing, but there was still lots of climbs to keep me busy at the stage I’m at! Me and my partner are moving to Brisbane later this year and will be looking for a climbing gym to call home, Urban Climb is certainly a top contender!

Fantastic experience: Lots of fun challenging routes for many levels. The problems felt approachable but still taking work. Hats off to the route setters. Didnt get to check the slab room but looking forward to having a chance to return and climb again. The lovely staff member at the front was accomodating and enthusiastic.

Positive experience: I had high hopes as the photos looked awesome, but didn't really like it compared to other gyms. Pros: - nice water taps - new building had INCREDIBLE aircon, like it was almost freezing when I first went in which is great! - nice safety introduction that other gyms don't do, so good for newbies - the weights gym looked awesome, the setup was great with a tonne of new looking equipment, definitely a huge plus Cons: - the main two areas have awful cooling, barely any fans, especially for the amount of people. - The routes felt pretty bad, the routes in some of the photos looked awesome, but the ones there today felt very bland, a lot were incredibly linear with what felt like sporadic placement. - half of the large gym has slippery walls, this made flagging and using the walls for balance feel terrible, I've never seen this in a gym. - $30 pricing for a first session is really steep, it's more expensive than the competitors for less climbs. Will likely try out the other urban climb gyms

Regarding cooling, we recently installed an incredible new fan in our second building, which has been a great help. While we do have air conditioning in the main building, the large space and number of people can sometimes make it challenging to maintain an optimal temperature. We're actively looking into additional cooling solutions, possibly using the same fan system from Twostead. We take pride in our route setting and are always looking to improve. I'll pass your feedback on to our setters. We reset a new wall every week and have some exciting dynamic routes in the cave area. We'd love for you to come back and give it another try! As for the pricing, our first-timer fee includes a free 2-week pass, free gear hire, and access to our mobility classes, making it a little bit more expensive, but great value. We hope to see you again soon, and thank you for considering our other locations as well!

Positive experience: I’ve traveled to all of the urban climbing gyms and I have to say it was my least favourite, super cramped. The third wall is in a separate building. Hectic vibes as it’s so small. Could’ve been me just having a bad day

Fantastic experience: Great setting. Creative and fun for all levels. Children are allowed here. Staff very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Chill vibe. Would happily have this as my home gym if I lived here. The twostead building was super hot though!

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent bouldering gym. There are a wide range of problems for all abilities, and the walls are varied and creatively set. The new “twostead” area (well it’s new to me at least) is great for some cave/overhang climbs at an accessible grade. The gym area there is also a great addition. Urban climb continued to kill it in all their venues across Australia, I look forward to further expansion. Sydney has to be next right?

Fantastic experience: A very nice climbing gym, a different vibe from their west end gym which a bigger one. This one feels a bit more cozy and chill; they also have a second floor with a ping pong table, a mat area to stretch your muscles out and a high table if you wanna take out a book to read or something; they also have wifi for their guests so overall quite a nice place to chill - and needless to say but the staff and climbing routes are superb!!

Fantastic experience: It is good place to do bouldering! They change all rocks regularly which is good for trying new things. They have three sections to do. Every parts have different rocks and level (yellow to white). I am enjoying it. I am on 6month membership! 29$ per week

Negative experience: The only Urban climb which accepts kids under 13, and considering ho difficult it is to park in Newstead, it's all but practical. They should definitely setup a kids friendly panel at each other Urban Climb sites, particularly west end. My two stars go to Urban Climb as a company for not making the right choices, rather than to this site in particular. This site is okay ish, still definitely worth going and your only option when you have kids under 13...

(Could be a bit cheaper for casual attendees) but that's about my only gripe. All in all great climbing center.

Fantastic experience: Such an awesome gym and now even more epic since the addition of twostead. There’s even a gym rig in there and plenty of gear. Holds are always clean and they understand the hygiene of it all, plenty of snacks now too and a good range of climbing gear and accessories. This place is my local and I used to travel to Milton a lot and now I honestly don’t find myself going over that side of town very often at all because Newstead is so rad. One thing I’ve gotta say is that, in my experience at least, the customer service here is beyond good. Honestly some of the best service I’ve received from ANY company since moving to Australia. Fantastic experience: Cutest gym! Top quality and fresh facility. Sooo many climbs and a variety of styles I love it! The new section (Twostead) is such a great addition and has immensely helped my training with overhangs. I love the Newstead gym, it's in a very central location and has such a dope community of climbers and DOGS!

Fantastic experience: Awesome staff as always. Great community feel. Come for the climbs, stay for the social spaces. With the new expansion, it feels like 2 gyms in one!
Positive experience: Nice gyms and staff. The only thing they need to work on is changing their direct debit provider as the current on "Debit Success" has a very questionable reputation for unethical and unfair behavior all over internet.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go climbing. There is a huge variety in climbs for all skill levels from complete novice to expert and a large volume for variety. Climbs are updated regularly so there's always something new to try as well. Staff are excellent, always friendly and personable. For bouldering, this is the best in Brisbane.

Positive experience: This gym would be good for more advanced climbers as the gym is smaller than Milton and has a smaller number of ‘easy’ climbs. The gym can get busy later in the day and therefore can feel very crowded. You can purchase your own shoes and chalk bags here. The gym has two sides / sections, the left side as you enter has more dynamic climbs which have more of an incline while the right side has more vertical climbs. Facilities are great as always and kept neat and tidy. Newstead can become quite hot compared to Milton as there isn’t a large door to let the air so the upstairs area is good to cool down. Location is great too, there are plenty of nice cafes to relax and refuel after. I suggest heading to ‘Nodo’ which is located at the end of the street. Overall the Newstead centre is a great place for climbers to challenge themselves.

Positive experience: Solid bouldering gym. Owner and staff very helpful and friendly. Walltopia panels with a good mix of modern volumes. Decent grab bag of setting styles ranging from World Cup parkour, power sets in the cave and and a fair bit of older school slab. The flooring system is too soft so be careful on dodgey top outs as rolling an ankle would be a bummer.

Fantastic experience: Together with Milton - best boulders in town! Only small pity is that some of them has been there for a while and holds start to resemble marble ;) Can get crowded and hot in the evenings so visit during the day if you can.
