World Gym Brendale

Positive experience: This is a pick up joint for egotistical lovers of self. The 3 stars are for the excellent facilities and equipment and staff friendliness. However, This is not a gym for the average person looking to keep a bit fit, this gym is for people whose life is "to gym". Good for them but it's not for everyone.

Fantastic experience: I've been to a few World Gyms in QLD and have found this one to be the best (so far!). 5 star is because there are plenty of machines and weights in a logical order with a lot of room. Note, I have found the staff in all of the World gyms to be friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable and friendly staff are always willing to help. Gym is clean and there is always plenty of machines and weights no matter how busy it is!

Negative experience: Unfortunately, this is the worst gym I’ve ever been to, primarily due to the management and unfriendly staff. While the gym itself is spacious and the equipment is fairly good, the behaviour that management endorses is unacceptable and does not promote a comfortable environment for people, including myself, to feel safe while working out. A few months ago, someone approached me aggressively, swearing at me to hurry up on the machine I was using. This made me feel intimidated and unsafe, something I’ve never experienced in my 9 years of training at a gym. When I reported this incident to management, they essentially just apologised for how I felt and brushed it off because they were close friends with the individual. As a result, there were no consequences for this person's actions. This gym could be much better if management prioritised creating a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, not just their friends, instead of encouraging this kind of negative behaviour .

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Lay out is so natural and spread out. Clear row for push and chest machines, clear row for legs, clear area for back. Culture is great and friendly people and the staff are always super helpful. Julie was very helpful with my membership whenever I had issues too! Sad to be leaving for relocation but will always come back when I'm, in the area!

Positive experience: Mate who gets their clients to pay maintenance fee? I haven't ever been to a gym where I had to pay for a maintenance fee.

Positive experience: I recently joined worlds and i think it’s a great gym itself although going from a really lovely team at my old gym i’ve found staff here to be quite rude.. I must say when i’ve gone at night the staff are super lovely but the morning staff legit just ignore you No “Good morning!” or “see ya next time” not even a smile. I think this is a great gym i just wish staff were friendlier

Negative experience: Where to start with this one, i have enjoyed training at this gym with good equipment the only down side is some of the staff and some cleanliness. Today i used the sauna and was approached “manage julie” and some pt over the paper towel used in there which is fine take it away and just fill me in as i didn’t know but their approach was terrible and rude when i just walked in to a slosh pit sauna that’s barely cleaned like the bathrooms and theirs other reviews confirming this. They told me not to use the paper towel which is fine no biggie i didn’t know it wasn’t allowed as it’s always been used but proceeded to ramble on with things talking to me like a child and demanded my name pretty unprofessional then told my membership is cancelled on the spot which i said is fine i will cancel it on my way out as i couldn’t care as i pay to be there no loss it’s just a gym she then walks back into the male toilets and tells me to get out the sauna right now because she’s the manager and does what she likes i said once again ill see you at the front to cancel. I then go to leave and her whole demeanour has changed trying to be nice in front of other workers funny that then she proceeds to tell me i still have 30 days left on my membership to finish like i wanna pay another dollar to a place with a manager like that. She wouldn’t cancel my membership there and kept saying i must follow policy rules when she wasn’t and it doesn’t have this on the sauna rules list might wanna update this she then tells me to leave the premises as im being difficult when all i said is terminate the contract now like you threatened none of this other policy talk with 30days i gave back the tag then left. Learning how to be professional and approaching customers with decency would be a good start .

Fantastic experience: A few months ago transferred from another world gym and have to say I could not be happier. I started weekly pt with Mat who has made reaching for my goals an exciting but achievable challenge. The experience and knowledge that he shares is perfectly specific for me, and he always goes above and beyond. I am very glad to have found such an amazing gym with great people who know their stuff.

Fantastic experience: Been training here just over a year now and it's been great. In the last six weeks I started training with PT Mat Murray and I've never enjoyed training more. I highly recommend coming to see this highly knowledgeable and professional coach to give your training a boost. He knows his stuff and makes all your sessions awesome.

I have been taking my daughter to Crèche there for 4 months and I have to say the carers there foster a supportive, fun and safe environment. I am always greeted with high energy by staff who seem to love what they do. Highly recommend World Gym Brendale

Negative experience: Very disappointed and my family have been going to the gym for awhile now and if you suffer from PTSD or trauma it's not a good place. Some people slam and drop the weights around and just recently my wife felt very scared and I was upset about this that a 1 hour workout turned into not being able to sleep and very concerned. Statf just watch this happe.n I am a social worker and work with a lot of traumatised people and I don't know what the policy is here and duty of care around this type of behaviour and it's impacts on people with trauma issue but I am seriously thinking about telling my family to leave. Sad thing is I tell my clients it's a good place but it is not a safe place for victims of trauma. Very upset and disappointed. Started out good but gone right downhill.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to world gym for a few years now, I have always enjoyed going there. I have start seeing Mat PT there and am thoroughly enjoying the workouts we are doing. His knowledge is great and definitely get my moneys worth with him, I don't think I have left a session yet not exhausted but ready to rake on the day as well. If I have any muscle niggles he gets in and targets the spot and helps relieve the pain. I can't wait to see the results to come.

Fantastic experience: I am a foundation member of World Gym Brendale and whilst I don’t use all the services available I do take full advantage of the wide range of equipment available on the gym floor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a gym so well equipped with both free weights and pin weighted equipment. Recently I have been experiencing a lot of constant pain and tightness and decided that I needed to use a personal trainer to help me with mobility. I also wanted to lose some body fat so adding in a cardio/boxing session seemed like a good idea. I figured the best way to pick the right trainer for me was to scope them out with their current clients before jumping in. I decided to go with Mat Murray and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Mat has all the knowledge I need to assist me with stretching, mobility, boxing training and has also assisted me with form correction. I have only had 4 sessions with him but am already pain free after having constant lower back pain for 6-12 months. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love World Gym Brendale! The girls on reception are always super nice (shout out to Paige) My PT Mat always has such positive and motivating vibes. I’ve notice I’ve gained alot of confidence since our sessions - not only am I trying new things but also fixing form on exercises I’ve been doing for years. He’s very patient yet annoyingly pushy and helped me achieved so much in such a short amount of time.

Negative experience: Rude and disrespectful staff. My girlfriend has been diagnosed with chronic pain and mentioned this to staff before joining who told us to bring in a medical cert if she had to quit. She was met with intimidation and rude staff. It's not about the money.. it's about the blatant lack of care for others. Both my GF and I will be cancelling our memberships.

Negative experience: I wish I could give this gym 5 stars because it's the best layout I've seen in a gym, but I've been going to this gym since 2022 and have never seen a gym go through staff the way they do. The nice ones never last long. The ones that aren't nice seem to stick around. Its a common conversation between members about the lack of customer service skills these girls in customer service have. I've always noticed they are friendlier to the men that come in lol, but the staff seem miserable in general. I heard the pay and the hours are terrible, maybe fixing that would fix the issue so many paying members are having with the staff. Also the A/C is non existent a lot of the time, it's like a boiler room in there and the bathrooms are almost always gross. I'm sure this will come with a passive aggressive response about how hard the staff are working to make the gym look better to the owner instead of actually working on fixing the issues this gym has. -1 Staff have bad attitudes and a lot of drama -1 Dirty bathrooms -1 It gets hotter than hell +1 Great layout +1 The equipment is better here than other WG's Yeah my name is Michelle Russell, so yes I am a member and this isn't a fake review. Negative experience: there are way to many roid munchers. the vibe in here makes me not wanna be here, you got a huge helicopter at the top and 0 aircon fitness cartel has made your weaknesses there strengths.

Mat is not the type of trainer that spends all "your" training session looking at he's phone (I know trainers that do this), he actually listens to what you want out of the sessions & wants to do "right by you", he asks you how your day was & wants you to be the best you that you can be. From what I've seen of Mat so far, he is genuinely happy to see you, whether you're in for a pt session or just passing eachother on the gym floor. I'm looking forward to seeing what he & I can achieve when I'm pushed to what I thought were my limits & actually surpassing them. You will not regret contacting Mat. ****** Coming from a small gym & being a shy person I was nervous coming to World Gym Brendale because a) It's HUGE & b) there is so many people, but I think I've settled in here, sure there are things I haven't done yet like gone in the sauna, that's only because I don't know if you have to book or just use it if there's nobody in it at the time (I'll find that out in time), I haven't gone to a class yet (shy & nervous). Overall, the staff are kind & always saying "hi" when you come in & "have a great day" when you leave. Equipment is AWESOME. I don't know names of people but I do see the same faces all the time & I don't think there are any ego's.

Fantastic experience: I recently started PT sessions with Mat Murray and he has been so amazing with guiding me to my goals. He doesn’t just focus on physical goals, he also pushes you to think outside the box and I love that. He is supportive through our sessions and always explains things so thoroughly to me. He always manages to always make a bad day into a great day and hypes you up during your workouts. Even when I’m not training he always makes an effort to stop and have a chat with me. I cant recommend him enough!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Negative experience: Coming from someone that’s seen this gym since the beginning, seeing how it’s being maintained and managed now is a complete disappointment. The family vibe of the gym has completely disappeared, there’s no welcoming greeting from the reception staff and you are only able to get their assistance if you’re physically standing in front of them. The cleaning standards of the gym are disgusting. Bathroom showers growing mold, paper towel bins overflowing, you’ll find more toilet paper on the floor than in the actual dispensers. The gym floor is also poorly maintained, cobwebs on the railings, watched members walk across the floor of the gym to find a wipe bin that was not empty. Plus when going to use the communal microwave you’ll find weeks old dried up food inside it. There is no care for this gym anymore.

Fantastic experience: Great equipment with plenty of machines so you can generally do what you need even on busy days. For anyone thinking of joining and hoping for a motivational environment. This is it!

Fantastic experience: Mat Murray is the best trainer! So diverse in his knowledge - from power lifting through to CrossFit and everything in between. He understood exactly what I wanted to achieve and helped me with a program that was teuly personalised. I’m the type of person who likes to learn and know the why behind things and he’s always patiently teaching me and explaining the mechanics of the movements and the benefits of each exercise. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Mat Murray as an experienced and very knowledgeable Personal Trainer. I have been training with Mat consistently for over 12month now originally for injury rehabilitation and mobility training, once my injury recovered I continued weekly PT sessions for strength and mobility which have been excellent. Not only does Mat have extensive knowledge in the industry, he has the ability to tailor his sessions to the needs of his clients. If you're ever in the need of a PT I would highly recommend giving Mat a go.

Fantastic experience: I have trained at over 50 gyms over the past 8 years and formerly worked here as a trainer for almost two years and I rate this gym as being one of the best regarding both the quantity and quality of equipment. The layout of this gym is second to none, where the free weights (barbells/squat racks), machine weights and cardio section are nicely separated which minimizes people walking in your way even on busy week nights. The gym also has 16 squat racks and a dozen deadlift platforms, thus I have never had to wait for someone else to finish here. Very adequate variety of quality machines along with having a range of specialized verve, valhalla and goliath powerlifting equipment which I find to be essential when lifting heavy weights and there is always chalk available.

Negative experience: The equipments are fine. Staff's attitudes are a bit questionable. It's not really clean especially bathroom. People use this gym are people who don't follow the rules (no towel etc), or busy with filming themselves. There are signs about the towel usage but staff don't seem to care. It would have been the best gym if the actual maintenance is in place and the rules are enforced (you know... they are not really rocket science lol). Response to the owner: I know the clears are doing a good job. I have been using your gym since day 1 on a regular basis but haven't seen even once a staff talking to non-tower users. People not using towels are always same people, meaning they probably have never been told (although they should know the rule). I posted my review 2 months ago and nothing has changed since.

Positive experience: World Gym Brendale is a fantastic place for your fitness journey. They've designed the gym with different areas for various types of workouts, catering to everyone, whether you're into regular fitness, bodybuilding, high-intensity workouts, or powerlifting. It's like a one-stop fitness hub where you can explore your fitness goals. However, there's a notable issue when it comes to parking. Sometimes, it's a real challenge to find a spot, especially on public holidays or when folks with larger vehicles don't park too considerately. They've tried to address this by using a patch of grass for parking, which has helped to some extent. Still, I've encountered occasions in my 8-month tenure where finding a parking space was as tricky as solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded. The grassy patch has since been over taken by some developments like a chemist, pet shop and a few cafes. I'm unsure If those parking spots are solely that of those businesses. I certainly hope not, as the gym gets early about 85% of business for that little shopping/petrol precinct. The gym equipment is impressive and generally used correctly. But every now and then, you might spot someone using the equipment for exercises it wasn't meant for. It could be due to a lack of knowledge or just not knowing any better. While it's not a major issue, it can lead to a waiting game for those who want to use the equipment for its intended purpose. The gym's layout is thoughtfully done, adorned with motivating murals of fitness icons like Thor and The Rock. It's a real source of inspiration. Adding pictures of strongmen or CrossFit athletes like Tia-Clair Toomey or Hafthor Bjornsson would be a great addition. As you step into the gym, the reception area greets you with a warm and welcoming ambiance. However, I've noticed some inconsistency in how staff interact with members. Some receptionists seem to engage more with specific groups of members, while others receive less attention. This pattern was observed by not only me but also my partner and training buddies. Although there have been changes in the receptionist team, this preference towards certain demographics still seems to persist. Despite these observations, there have been shining stars among the staff, such as Matt Matrino and Kathy Grant, who excel in their roles, leaving their members with smiles on their faces. Additionally, while I'm not familiar with the names of the childcare staff, some of my friends have praised the childcare services at World Gym. The male amenities are spacious and well-maintained, although there's a minor issue with water creating slippery surfaces when someone walks across the bathroom after a shower. In conclusion, World Gym Brendale is an excellent fitness facility, offering top-quality equipment at competitive prices, with a gold membership costing around $25 per week. The only notable downside is the gym's music volume, which can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially if you want to enjoy your own tunes through headphones. Overall, I'd give it a solid rating of 4.5 out of 5. Ultimately, it's a place where individuals go to improve themselves, for themselves, and that remains the paramount goal.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrific environment to workout in. Staff are less than helpful and don’t care about their members at all. Also for goodness sake, stop your staff from having a chat 24/7 and get them to clean something, the place is filthy!! Don’t recommend at all!! Don’t bother asking me to call and discuss because my partner and I have tried numerous times to be reasonable with you and all that happens is we’re left frustrated and unhappy.

Positive experience: Plenty of equipment and classes to keep you occupied. One downfall is the frequency at which the sauna is cleaned. My recommendation would be to have the sauna cleaned at least weekly considering the scheer volume of sweaty blokes that use it.
