Strive Fitness (24/7 Smart Gym) - Marsden Park

Negative experience: Bad experience dealing with cancellation of the membership. Tried calling them at multiple times without success. No one is ever present at the Gym if you walk-in in-person so that does not work as well. Sent emails but no response. Just terrible experience to get the membership cancelled.

Negative experience: I have never joined they’re membership, never trained at there club and never got the pass key and after sometime they stared emailing me that i owe them money which i never did from day one. Even after replying them and contacting them no response from them. Stop ripping off people and stop milking money. Such a poor service and unprofessional staff. They will never answer your calls and messages. No wonder why they are cheap as compared to every one.

Negative experience: You sign up and try to leave and they will keep charging you even if you cancel your membership I cancelled mine in 2023 and I’m still being charged I have made numerous attempts to contact Chris and cancel but he does not reply, they keep asking for more money though with no way to actually resolve the situation, I have emailed Chris several times with no response. DONT SIGN UP HERE OR YOU'LL REGRET IT

Negative experience: UPDATE: Everything the owner says in response to my review is a lie, they did not send any messages about alleged $ owing and it is every business' responsibility to communicate and provide the correct paperwork to their customers and not to mislead and decieve people for financial gain. And this did not just happen to us there are many reviews here that say the same thing, so is it just a coincidence OR is it more likely that these guys are being deliberatly misleading to make $ It's all good, I can sleep soundly because I am a decent human being that doesn't need to peddle lies and steal for a living ... WARNING - DO NOT SIGN UP WITH STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK) THEY HAVE NO SOUL - I'M SERIOUS ... NO SOUL There are so many great gyms in the area that you can join instead of this gym, other gyms that care about people and want to positively contribute to the local community not steal from it!!! Do not waste your money ... They are deliberately misleading when it comes to cancelling your membership so that they can keep taking (stealing) your money. My husband joined STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK) two- and a-bit years ago and cancelled his membership in person at the gym after about a year. There were always issues with STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK) because the staff were either not available in person or over the phone nor are they trained property in the gym’s protocols and procedures. Recently, over a year after my husband cancelled his membership at STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK) the owner has engaged a debt collector to hustle over a thousand bucks out of us for fees during this time because he didn't sign a cancellation of membership form that was never provided to him by the staff at STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK)! To be clear - English is not my husband’s first language and NOBODY from the gym explained to him that he needs to fill our paperwork to cancel the membership or provided him with the paperwork when said he was cancelling his membership!!!! Sure ... the need for a completed 'cancellation of membership form' might be included in the fine print of the contract but when someone is telling a staff member in person that he is cancelling his membership, shouldn't they tell him there is a form he needs to fill out!!!! There has been NO communication from STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK) for over a year and he has NOT HAD ACCESS to the Gym or used any of their services during this time and since he cancelled the membership. That is right ... you heard correctly ...he has NOT USED the Gym at all for over a year and now they want him to back pay for that time!!! The Gym has sent debt collectors to get him to pay for facilities that he has not used or had access to. It is unethical for any business to conduct themselves in this way, it is the same a stealing. You can't make people sign paperwork and then be unclear and deceptive in how to terminate the contract when someone asks and tell them verbally that they have cancelled their membership and then just let money add up over a year without sending an email or God forbid make a phone call!! I understand how contracts work but there is no excuse for this kind of misleading and unconscionable conduct from a local business. It is unscrupulous to come after people for money for a service that you KNOW they have not been using!! I get it ... he signed a contract but is not about what you might be able to do legally (or not) as a business ... it is about being an ethical human being and transparent in your dealings with consumers. My husband truly thought he had stopped his membership and didn’t need to do anything else and he works very hard for his money and our family. Like I said there are lots of other more trustworthy gyms in the area that will treat you like a human being and be clear about what you are signing up for. Be careful signing up with STRIVE FITNESS (MARSDEN PARK) or they might send debt collectors after you ... years after you have cancelled your membership ... for thousands of $$$$$$ … don’t say I didn’t warn you

Negative experience: I joined this gym hoping for a positive fitness experience, but unfortunately, it fell short in every aspect. The equipment was outdated and poorly maintained, with broken machines and rusty weights scattered around. The cleanliness was appalling, with sweat stains and dirt visible everywhere, making the environment unpleasant and unhygienic. The staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful, providing minimal assistance and lacking any enthusiasm for helping members reach their fitness goals. Additionally, the membership fees were exorbitant considering the subpar facilities and services offered. Overall, my experience at this gym was extremely disappointing, and I would strongly advise anyone considering joining to look elsewhere for a more satisfactory fitness experience.

Negative experience: Worst gym experience i got charge $36 for my second week, my first week was a 7 day free trial, so gym is never clean even the toilet is stink and the floor is wet

Negative experience: I called 6 months ago to cancel my membership. They won't cancel my membership and keep charging unless I physically go in, in person which I can't do. Will be going to fair trading with this for a full refund.

Negative experience: WARNING!!! THEY STEAL FROM YOU ! BE AWARE! IF I COULD RATE - 0 I WOULD . My story , This has to be the worst gym I have ever signed up with . They get you to join with their cheap deals BE AWARE ! ITS ALL A SCAM . Signed up July 2022 and have not been back since July 2023 but still getting charged. Prior to membership ending I made contact to gym to confirm what needs to be done to end membership as we were moving locations anyways , I was told I do nothing and membership just “expires .“ Thinking I did the right thing by no longer attending gym once expiry period was reached it took me a few weeks to realise they were still charging me for myself and my partner at a higher rate. After numerous calls , numerous emails and numerous attempts of a face to face meeting with Managers there Tim and Chris I was avoided EVERY-TIME even after many attempts of booking appointments for management to be a no show to then be sent away and never getting a chance to speed to any management in person . Months have passed and I am still being charged . During this dispute , I found that none of their staff know how their contracts or membership fees work they pretty much shove you to the side and say “Chris “ will call back . To which Chris never calls back and will respond to an email here and there over months of emails . I have not spoken to Chris personally at all during this dispute to which I have now almost $1000 with no reimbursement or clear communication of any type of compensation or resurrection of these unfair loss of funds . During this time I also found that a roll over contract was signed in 2023 NOT BY ME , and NO roll over fees were clarified or agreed upon. BE CAREFUL GIVING CARD DETAILS AS THEY CONTINUE TO DIRECT DEBIT WITHOUT AGREEMENT . I feel completely robbed of this gym and now i am pushed to the side as if my financial loss/ unfair treatment is being ignored . With no official complaints handling process has been implemented by their manager , I have been left to consistently try and chase to resolve this dispute and suffer a further financial loss in meantime . As I have now been talking about my experience with people around this area and found out that I am not the only one who has experienced further charges / financial loss to Marsden Park Strive , I would like to warn everyone before entering a contract with this gym as they leave out important information when signing up , they make it difficult for you to terminate contract , they do not address customer disputes/complaints , it is impossible to get a hold of any type of management there and they use loop holes within your contract that that make it it a completely one sided and unfair to terminate especially since I was not provided a copy of contract . Not sure how they have a signed contract for this year either seeing as though prior to expiry of contract I made it clear we will be leaving and have not signed or agreed to anything further . Join gym if you want to have an on going membership disputes and be charged 12 months or more after your expiry period. This is now formally lodged as a current affair complaint .

Negative experience: I had a bad experience with Strive Fitness today. I had signed up for a week on week subscription and I cancelled it with in a month because of my schedule . But surprisingly I was debited last week again. When I called Strive fitness they agreed it was mistake and offered to refund. But there was a card transaction fee that was charged to mycard which they refused to refund. After 5-10 min of argument the person agreed to refund. Its not about the transaction fee but its more about how they take accountability. During this conversation another staff made a passing comment that i was making too much of an issue with a slang words which was never warranted in that situation . I will never recommend this place which has zero respect for people. Atlease the management should know what kind of staff should they hire to manage customers. Very disappointing with the comments made by the staff

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, great smart equipment and friendly, amazing staff.

Fantastic experience: Strive fitness helped me overcome my anxiety as a first time gym goer because of their extremely helpful Smart equipment! The equipment helped me learn the forms and the tempo making me more confident and fit in into the gym environment. The gym is always clean and the staff are almost instantaneous when it comes to helping with anything. The environment is also very nice as all the people that workout here are very kind and helpful. The PTs are also always going out of their way to help me which i really appreciate! The staffs were also very nice and gave me a free wrist wrap and towel! 10/10 Recommended 10/10 Recommended for beginners and an amazing place overall for all gym goers!

Negative experience: The gym has a good range of equipment and a convenient location. Some machines needed maintenance. The reason for my rating is that it is so poorly ventilated and AC/fans are often not on. I was told AC/fans are controlled via the manager’s phone only which is bizarre to me because they are not always in the gym to determine temperature. It really made working out unenjoyable. Also, keep in mind you can only cancel your contract in person and with 4 weeks notice which made things difficult as I was quite sick for weeks but had no choice but to keep paying during that period. I felt like more could have been done from management to be reasonable if a person is in that position. Thank you.

Negative experience: i live in the US and have been travelling regularly to Australia pre-pandemic. i emailed and called (many times) to request they cancel my membership. i have spoken to Tim directly and emailed 5 times. and yet, after 6 months, they are still taking out payments from my card. When i finally received an email stating that i had to fill out a cancel membership form after 6 months, yet - they didn't sent it to me!! very shady practices and unnecessary waste of my time and money!

Negative experience: My Gym membership ended in July 2021 but they’ve continued to charge me $30.75 fortnightly until now. I requested them to cancel my membership in August 2021 but they’ve ignored it. The person I spoke with today refused to send me a cancellation form by email even after telling him that I’m not in Sydney. He said you have to come to the gym and only then we can cancel it. I will definitely get the ACCC involved! Never sign a contract with Strive Fitness!

Negative experience: Predatory business practices and avoids you once the contract is signed. I signed up for 1 year of membership. On month 10, I had to leave Australia and their gym was closed because for pandemic so I couldn't visit them in person. I wrote them an email and attached my flight ticket stating that once my contract comes to an end I no longer wish to continue my membership at this gym. They conveniently ignored my email. 4 emails and 3 months later they still did not bother a single reply. I am now lodging a formal complaint to ACCC regarding their unfair business practice. Why on earth a business would not even reply to their own customer's reasonable and fair request. They chose to just avoid me so they can keep on charging me. They kept charging me while they avoided my email and now they are charging me more!!! I have never seen such dishonestly before.

The staff members were very welcoming when I joined the gym as they provided me with professional customer service by assisting me out when I first came to gym and answering any questions that arose. The robotic equipment that Strive provide is quite unique and it really helped me out as it tracks previous workouts, so that way you don't have to remember your previous weights. Moreover, the gym is clean and well-maintained on a regular basis by the staff members. I highly recommend this gym. Thank you team :)

Negative experience: Always to warm inside, TV's never on, Music used to be good but now its really bad. unpatched holes in walls for many months equipment getting worn out and not repaired. Special login required for robotic equipment. No Standard exercise bikes. Hard to find parkings mid evening. This gym has potential if its looked after correctly but it is not. I am going to look elsewhere.

Positive experience: Good gym with equipment better than your average gym, e.g. good range kgs of kettle bells and weights. Some cable machines need maintenance, for example the pins are broken. The seated row really needs maintenance because it’s dangerous (can drop on a persons head if you pull the pin out). Never use the electronic stuff, so cannot comment on it. Good group room and always space for everyone. Eric is friendly and anyways there to help and welcome you. Women’s bathroom needs soap dispenser fixed too.

Fantastic experience: This gym is well equipped with machines, and racks, and other various fitness equipment. Spacious to do all sorts of workouts. Very tidy and clean. Friendly and welcoming staff! I have been to many gyms in this area, including anytime fitness, plus fitness 24/7 and this gym is definitely one of the better if not best 24/7 gyms. Definitely recommend.
