Fantastic experience: For Sean, the affable new manager at my local Goodlife gym in Madeley, it‘s members first as he puts his stamp on the club. Sean has impressed me with his passionate and proactive approach in making the club more amenable to its members. He is listening to girls and guys on the floor to gauge what is needed to improve things from a user point of view. And, he is acting on those suggestions. Reorganisation of equipment into logical groupings and optimising space on the ground floor are recent improvements. My request for clocks/timers at vantage points around the club is also being addressed. Beauty! With Sean’s passion and energy and the on-going support of his friendly and helpful staff, I’m looking forward to seeing more positive changes into the future.

Fantastic experience: I don't understand any negative feedback. I only do fitness Classes and all the instructors that take Classes I do ie cycling, yoga/body balance/yin & pump are very professional and know their craft very well. Kingsway, subiaco, mt Lawley and innaloo are my go to 's...

Negative experience: Not recommended to anyone Had membership more than 12 months and I left it due to work. Tried to rejoin as they mentioned no joining fees and EOFY sale but they charged me joining fee $59+$19.49.

Negative experience: I’ve been a loyal member of this gym for over a year, but after my recent experience, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone not even for free. After taking a 4-month break, I decided to give the gym another shot. Big mistake. I rejoined, paid the joining fee and my first week’s payment and the money was clearly withdrawn from my account on the same day. Then out of nowhere, I get told the payment “bounced back” and now I apparently owe a $10 surcharge. I showed them proof from my bank that the payment was successful, but it didn’t matter. The staff just kept repeating the same useless line: “We can’t help you, it’s handled by Debit Success.” Even the salesperson tried asking the manager, but the answer was the same. He even told me that not even the state manager could do anything. I asked to speak with the manager myself, but was told they were “busy on a call.” After getting nowhere, I asked to cancel my membership and instead of simply cancelling it, they froze my account for two weeks and told me I should try to sell it to someone on Facebook or Gumtree. Are you serious? I joined a gym, not an online reseller platform. Now I’m left wondering if they’ll charge me more, and honestly, I don’t trust them one bit. All this drama over their system’s error. And worse — it could even affect my credit score, for something that wasn’t even my fault. This gym used to be decent. Now it’s just a scam. No customer service, no accountability, no respect for loyal members. Avoid this place at all costs.

Negative experience: Misleading information to get me to sign up. When I cancelled they told me my last payment date and then continued to take my money for a month after the date I was told. Just said sorry for giving you incorrect info.

Fantastic experience: staff are very professional they welcome me by calling my name or mate..!! equipment not so modern but it does the job, member are ok they do their workout and does not bother me when i do my workout, i go everyday whilst i look for a job.i started noticing mini muscles, my belly fat is still noticable but not as much its slowly slimming im not complaining this takes time to acomplish. overall im happy and intend to keep goin g even wheni get a job but not everyday.

Negative experience: This gym is shockingly hot and stuffy - the air conditioning is not nearly adequate enough and on complaining, staff has said that a request has been put in to upgrade it. That was over a year ago. Really doubt the equipment is cleaned very often....hands are dirty and sticky after every workout from touching the machines and dumbbells. Other Goodlife gyms have saunas in the change rooms....Kingsway has none. Also no pilates like other Goodlife gyms. Really needs a full upgrade......whilst keeping it open....unlike now when it has been closed to everyone from 5pm yesterday until 6am this morning for an unknown reason.

Negative experience: I am a new mum, I wanted to work on my post partum body, I signed up for this gym for 3 months with the x2 pt session option. I have been charged for two memberships instead of one. Due to this I have tried contacting their office several times and been met with switch board options that lead to what appears to be a seperate billing company/ not the admin team there. Obviously as a new mum I do not have a lot of time to sit around on a phone waiting especially when this shouldn't be an issue in the first place. I didn't recieve any instruction on how to proceed to use the gym upon signing up and I was happy to assume this was an issue with their system or billing company, whatever. Today I recieved a phone call from a male rep from the Kingsway gym. We had a brief discussion about my membership where I explained my concerns and in doing so, emotions got the best of me and I decided to end the phone call, telling the guy that this was not a reaction to him or his phone call, rather the subject matter. He was exceptionally compassionate and kind and demonstrated understanding for my frustrations and I asked him to just send me the amount owing because at this point I would rather not attend that gym due to all of the on going issues. He didn't guarantee this but I was satisfied with our conversation and i felt heard by him and wanted to leave thing where they were until I felt composed to try have the conversation again. He understood and we left things there. Within (roughly) 10 minutes I recieve a phone call from the manager there at Kingsway, a woman named Tanya (I previously thought it was Holly and for that I apologise) who came across to me as condescending and faux friendly. Off the bat she was passive aggressive, telling me how I didn't understand policy, how I am the problem, that I must have signed up online twice (?), that it's my fault I haven't answered phone calls (i am a full time, new mother who has a baby to attend to 24/7 and I am away from my phone a lot of the time, if I was on my phone all the time I'd be called a bad mum and because I'm not on it I'm a bad customer apparently lol), this "manager" told me she understands motherhood and what I'm experiencing because she has... two dogs... wowwwwwwwwwwwww, I could not believe she was comparing these two things, I sincerely hope the call was recorded because who ever is her boss should seriously listen to that recording if it's available, I am still amazed by her audacity. This lady went on to cut me off, over speak me, blame me, and just generally be a menace and terrible rep for this gym. I ended the phone call by telling her how unimpressed I am with her demeanour and unpersonable attitude. She was in no way helpful and considering how the initial phone call ended with the male rep I was not only expecting a bit more time before hearing from the gym again - after stating the conversation was emotional for me, I had also offered to pay whatever was needed to be released from this contract to both him and this female rep SO WHY is she calling me being so passive aggressive? I honestly think she was trying to prove some type of point? Does she get a commission for keeping customers? Because the way she attempted to gas light me into thinking this was MY fault was incredible. To finish this off on a nice note, I would like to thank the male rep I spoke to originally, he was everything I needed in a service rep regarding this topic. I am just sorry I didn't get your name so I could thank you directly. UPDATE: Was told the state manager would be in contact with me but have heard nothing after following up twice for their phone call. The customer service from this gym and the good life brand has been poor and completely disregarding of what happened to me. Do not read their reply to this review and let them trick you into thinking they have been accommodating post complaint. They seem to think I will just shut up and disappear if they ignore me.

Fantastic experience: Good equipment, good staff, clean change rooms and bathrooms. Some strange people but nothing bad. People always rerack weights in the wrong spots. There is often no order to the way that weight plates are put away, which really detracts from every workout as I have to spend a long time getting the right weights.

Negative experience: Signed my son up in September 2024. Took the membership over from another person. Confirmed it will still end in February and now told it’s a full year. They signed me up twice and took double payments-trying to sort that took way too much of my time. I was not heard when I told them two direct debits were set up. Customer service is zero to none-staff are reactive and unsupportive of clients. My experience is that staff either agree with the bad service or are way too defensive of the club. I’ve requested numerous times for someone to call me and discuss. Manager is either not there or a brand new one and for some reason that’s a reason to not get back to me? My son has been granted 24 hour access twice now by us needing to go in and sign forms but again recently locked out. I hope someone sees this and can respond to my emails sent. Hoping this membership can end with no more stress. Absolute joke of a service.

Negative experience: I’ve been at this club for 6 years and in that time I’ve lost my tag. Friday’s the club is unstaffed from 6:00pm, I was at the front at 5:59 and the doors were locked. Lucky for me there were 3 staff members at the front desk that could let me in but refused to… moments later another member let me in and they gave me attitude about not having a tag, absolutely appalling customer service… took them 20 secs to sign me in if that.

Negative experience: Forcing me to pay 34.4 dollars when I am on the cheapest plan. When I wanted to change my bank details. I have submit a payments and billing enquiry, but next day they force me to pay 34.4 dollars for "overdue" payment. They do not have anything on their website to change payment details except for sending them an enquiry which they will never reply. I have also send many enquires as recommendations from their website. But no replies from them except for one.

Negative experience: Manager was very passive aggressive. I’ve worked in customer service and I know customers can be painful to deal with but I was very even tempered. She was talking down to me the entire time and speaking in an over the top customer service voice like it was painful to her to have to explain the situation. I asked for a clarification and she said ‘If you had just given me 30 more seconds I would have added that sentence’. I said ok great and she slammed the phone down. Very disappointed with the customer service experience.

Negative experience: How can you sum up Goodlife. Go see the Karrinyup Club and be blown away of how amazing it looks. Such a beautiful gym. State of the art equipment and one true amazing gym. Then you have Goodlife Kingsway…… In my words….. I would have to say that this club is still living in the 70s. The equipment is that old and run down. I’m sure they just roam the streets on Council pickup days and try to find any old gym equipment people have thrown out. There are so many staff just walking around that I can see where all the membership money goes to. It sure is not on new equipment. Have a great time when you come to cancel your membership. Going there to cancel is person is a waste of time. You will only just keep getting billed for your membership and when you go back in again to see why money is still coming out of your account. You get told that they have tried calling you 3 times. But the call never goes through. So as they need to speak to you in person. They can’t cancel your membership. Um! Sorry! Didn’t I come into the club in person to cancel in the first place. Plus why did I always get phone calls from instructors trying to get me to pay for personal training with them. Them calls always seemed to work fine. Plus they had my email address to contact me. Was told the area manager likes the old school club look and vibe. More like the run down feel of the place. Positive experience: I have been going to the gym for a few years and have always found most of staff friendly and helpful. If I have an issue I speak to the reception staff and it is sorted out. I enjoy the fitness classes and the training equipment is adequate for my requirements. It is open 24/7 and certainly meets my requirements. If people have an issue speak to the staff or manager to fix it. I would recommend the gym to others of all ages.

Negative experience: Do not sign up. Tried to cancel my membership. I presented a Doctors certificate stating I have a chronic medical condition and I have an inability to partake in physical exercise. The woman working at the front desk rejected the doctors certificate because the “wording” of the certificate was “insufficient” apparently. I then asked for specific wording for the doctor to write in the certificate. The wording the woman wrote down was hardly “detailed” at all, borderline ridiculous, and it was definitely demonstrating that she was purposely being difficult to force me to stay as a member. This gym will fight tooth and nail (including official legal documents) to force you once you’re in. Spoke to my doctor who stated what this individual is asking for is unnecessary and that medical certificate is completely viable. Don’t lock yourself here. The gym in general is low quality and old.

Negative experience: Absolutely trash, they are the worst people to deal with. I spoke to Jessie (the manager), we spoke on the phone and the next time i spoke to her she refused everything she said told me previously. To a point where I asked her to listen to the recording of our previous phone calls. So hard to deal with and it makes it worse as she wasn't honest at all.

Negative experience: 24 hour convenience. But the gym is looking run down and needs to upgrade its equipment. Gym staff don’t enforce the ‘no bags in the gym’ policy. This is an OS&H issue with the possibility of a member tripping over someone’s bag. This isn’t goodlife’s fault. To all you muscle bound, I’m in love with myself people. Put your bloody weights away after you use them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Negative experience: Was trying to have a gym membership transferred to myself. “Goodlife offer membership transfer” the lady who was transferring her membership was nice and easy to deal with, however the gym itself or more specifically the staff assigned to deal with transfer did not care enough to even attempt to do so. am assuming when it comes to transfer of membership they may miss out on whatever incentive they receive for sign ups. Only explanation I can’t think of for Poor service, attitude and lack of care from this staff member. Poor form.

Positive experience: I have been the member of this health club for over 20 years. Because I moved to the area to live and it's convenient for me to go to gym close by. There are more sports workout equipment on ground floor and upstairs since Goodlife Health team took the management, there's a big classroom with bar handles and mirrors along the walls, also a separate room for bicycle exercises. The gym is open for 24 hours a day! I mainly go for the classes, like yoga, body balance and dance, gym runs different classes every day, every one can find the class they love to do. But there's one thing is missing-the swimming pool! There was a big swim pool and spa in this gym, and had some aqua classes I used to do, when I have some free time, would go for a swim 30 minutes of laps. It was so good feeling after swim ‍♂️ . Anyway, it's pity there's no more swimming pool in Kingsway or Joondalup clubs. This is what I miss the most . Still, it's a very good club, I am here to do the exercise to keep myself fit. It is my purpose!

Negative experience: Showing its age. Air Conditioner is evap and when not running its unbearable. Clearly these gyms are just set and forget. Cleaners don't seem to look above eye level as everything is covered in thick dust. Air con vents in particular which is a health hazard. Showers run cold. Advised staff and they advised the Shower on the end is the only one with working hot water. Great so aware of the problem and obviously not getting fixed. Machines are old and heaps of wear and tear. Time to invest some money in the place. Seriously disappointing considering the price. Update October 2024. Not much has changed. They did clean the air con vents upstairs except for the one above the stairs which was clearly put in the too hard basket and is still gross. Updated March 2025 Place is still run down and dirty.

Negative experience: Decent range of equipment though very poorly maintained.Used one of the personal trainers also took my daughter for a session and displayed incredibly poor knowledge, gave incorrect training and nutrition advice and was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional in her conversation. Pricey compared to ther local gyms but location is convenient. Am really considering ending our memberships here unless issues are addressed. Unfortunately most comercial gyms dont take pride in operating at a high standard and are only interested in members money

Fantastic experience: Great gym, good variety of classes - I really enjoy the Arena classes, they are at a good time (the early 5.15am option is great for me). The instructors are knowledgeable and friendly and have created a good vibe for that time of day! . Lots of cardio gear, never having to wait to get on a machine. The gym side of things has everything I need. Lots of parking, 24 hours access and not far from my house - so winning!!

Negative experience: Do NOT sign up with these incompetent clowns. I signed up in December 2022 then requested my membership be cancelled in January 2023 due to losing my job. Instead of cancelling my membership and contract, they’ve dragged it out to March where they sent another email asking if I still wanted to cancel my membership and they have ‘options’ should I wish to remain a member. I’m now being harassed weekly by ARMA who refuse to acknowledge my repeat requests to goodlife and trying to make me pay for something I’ve never even used. Goodlife? Hahaha.. a name change seems appropriate.

Negative experience: This is the worst gym I have ever attended! Weights everywhere. People smashing weights and machines. There is no airflow and the gym actually stinks. You have to walk all over, downstairs and upstairs just to find equipment and attachments. There is never staff at the reception during staffed hours and we have stood waiting to be served. The customer service is pretty poor as well and the girls have stood there having personal conversations about their weekend in front of us. The computer screen has been left on at night allowing people to see our details when you scan in. I have tripped over weights and hurt my finger trying to get a dumbbells under a stack of weights. Barely saw staff walking around cleaning and the floors were disgusting. We gave it a week or so, then let the gym know the situation and if it didn’t change we’d like to leave with no charge. I was called when I was at work then when I called back I was told the manager was in a meeting and would call me back. She never did, we noticed a slight change but went back to how it was. It wasn’t until I tried to reach out again that I was called back again at work and then when I returned the call the same thing happened. Then told I had incoming call restrictions on and that’s why they haven’t called me back… We both decided to cancel especially after our last session and the stench coming from the gym! All we’ve been told is “come in and speak with us to resolve this situation”. Emails have become condescending and rude. I have now lodged a formal complaint just for them to click a button to cancel our memberships due to them not living up to their obligations which is a given reason for us to cancel our membership (as per there policy section 18) - WE DO NOT RECOMMEND - they’ve also now tried to block me on socials so I don’t leave reviews…along with all the other 1 star reviews…

Positive experience: I needed a month to month membership that not all gyms offer, so I was really happy with the flexible membership options at Goodlife. I've had 2 PT sessions and Doh who has been a great personal trainer - I've really enjoyed our sessions. After a long break from workouts, he's the perfect PT to get me back into things at the right pace! Love the selection of classes - Body Attack class was high energy, the yoga instructor is AMAZING, step class was fun. I've mostly used upstairs and have always found there are cardio and weights that are available to use. My platinum membership allows me to do classes in Hillarys and enjoy their sauna too - bliss! I wish there was more air flow in the group classes room, as it can get a bit stuffy during workouts. Overall, I think my membership is great value and I'm loving the workout options!

Negative experience: The gym is pretty average I’d say. The weights area gets pretty messy and all equipment is quite old. The upper floor is a bit more modern but is still limited in the amount of machines. The prices for membership are ridiculous compared to surrounding gyms which charge much less and don’t lock you into long term contracts. I think the price they charge is not representative of the quality of the facilities and that’s the reason it receives such a low rating for me. Even after leaving they continue to contact me offering me deals to return to the gym even after I have told them to cease any further contact with me. They also changed the amount I was being charged midway through the contract which I thought was unfair, with no staff member able to offer me a reason for the price increase. They also charge $20 for training every quarter which is not removable from the contract and so overall the membership can be quite costly for the lack of overall quality.

Positive experience: My wife and I went here for just over 18 months before changing to another gym. For us, the cons outweighed the pros. I'll list all of them to help people make their own decisions. Pros: - Large range of okay equipment (not great but serviceable) - Lots of fitness class options Cons: - It's hands down the worst facility we've ever been to for having people unrack their weights or wipe down equipment. The staff try to do it a bit but don't come close to keeping up. - The gym does get extremely busy quite often, so equipment can be hard to use. - Even though we finished our 18-month contract, we were still charged for 30 days after cancelling. Which while a part of all their contracts, just seems very unfair. - The gym was basically impossible to contact via phone, but we would receive cold calls from personal trainers trying to get us as clients. - If equipment is out of order, it takes an extremely long time for it to be repaired.

Fantastic experience: I decided to rejoin Goodlife after many years and used the kingsway goodlife as the home base even though my package has access to all the goodlife gyms. I was lucky enough to deal with Riley who was so obliging and listened to what I would actually use and what I really wouldn’t. He gave me many options at discounted rates due to also being a member previously. What a great asset he is to improving kingsway by far. Thanks Riley

Negative experience: This is the worst gym I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. I wouldn’t recommend it. I’d join a different gym. All good life care about is getting money. They don’t show customer care at all- it’s all just fake. I was never shown how to use the machines, that was an extra cost. I ended up in hospital, and couldn’t attend work, and the gym, and they kept ringing looking for payments, I paid 100 dollars for that time despite giving them a medical certificate for the dates included. Then they text again to say my account was overdue. I called to say if paired and somehow there was another 15 dollars charge. They make it difficult for people to cancel contracts and I feel scammed. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this gym, it’s got poor customer service and clearly only cares about money

Fantastic experience: Hands down one of the best Goodlife gyms, or even one of the best gyms in Perth. The gym is spacious with an accessible design and layout. The gym flooring is also quality, this is accompanied by state-of-the-art equipment. The gym has excellent cleanliness and maintenance. Most importantly, the staff are very competent and helpful. Positive experience: The gym requires a new fit-out. Refrigerated air conditioning is required everywhere. Evaporative cooling is no longer good enough for a gym. BodyPump equipment is very old and requires replacement. Many electrical failures has closed the building a few times recently. Staff are very good. The standard of their Joondalup gym should be what Kingsway should be aiming for.

Negative experience: I started requesting to close my account on October 14th. After 1 month’s notice, I have deducted more than 4 weeks of money, and the deductions have been endless. I have to close my bank account. There is no email confirming the requirement to close the account. Really disgusting

Positive experience: There 3-4 mornings a week. Definitely don't appreciate the ARENA classes taking up the whole upstairs free weight area when maybe 4-5 people are participating. Makes it really tight to find space to workout. Otherwise, good gym!
