Negative experience: Another long-time member who the current manager pushed away. Please scroll down and you will see more similar stories I am sure that is the tip of the iceberg because not all people leave Google reviews. I was a member for over 7 years, during which time 4-5 Managers ran that gym, and I had nothing to complain about; it was a great place! Lately, I noticed missing some of the old members, personal trainers and people running fitness classes. I mind my own business focusing on my training while listening to audiobooks so I didn't care much. Till I had the first talk with the Current Manager - It was the rudest, most bizarre, lack of professionalism conversation of my life. I still can't believe that someone can talk to customers in that way. I don't know her name because when I asked for it since I wanted to send an official email with a complaint - she told me that it's not my business what her name is - the older lady at the front desk. Anyway - all my life I have tried to avoid toxic people so I cancelled my membership and moved to another gym. It's a shame that such a nice Gym can be taken down by someone who is not fit for the task. When Crunch management finally reacts to save that gym and replace that manager. Please leave some notes here or on the website. I am sure that many old members will come back. Kind Regards
Hi Bart, we've had a look at your member record and it seems that despite our staff politely asking you to keep your bag off the gym floor multiple times you continued to do so. We've also noted you were aggressive and abusive towards Crunch staff on multiple instances to the point where we have had other staff members intervene for their safety. We've made it priority to ensure we serve all our members in the best way possible and that means enforcing rules for those who choose not to. We wish you the best of luck with your fitness journey.

Negative experience: My friend is a regular member and invited me to work out with him. Many gyms in Australia offer a "bring a friend" option with hassle-free entry. I paid a $25 daily entry fee. Be aware that you need to wait at least 24 hours before using the daily pass. Unfortunately, this information is written in smaller text in the terms section, so please pay attention to it. I'm leaving my review here for anyone considering bringing a friend in the future.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would!! Have been a member of crunch for over 5 years and ever since Parissa became manager the gym has completely gone downhill. The staff treat members disgustingly they are SO disrespectful, don’t care about the members and look like they hate their life working behind the desk with their heads always down on their phones, they never greet the members which doesn’t surprise me when Parissa is the manager. Ever since she has taken over there has been nothing but problems for everyone, you can ask many members on the gym floor their thoughts on her and not one has something nice to say, she has caused problems for everyone since she started. The staff at crunch used to be lovely, making it a friendly place and they always had a chat with members but now it is the complete opposite of that!! Don’t be fooled by the Google reviews, members have been asked to leave a review of praise to outshine the MANY negative reviews because of the clear staffing issue!

Negative experience: "The phrase 'a monkey with a razor in its hand' perfectly captures the disastrous management of Parissa and Anna at Crunch Mortdale. I’ve been a loyal member for over five years and always enjoyed my time here. However, since Parissa took over, the quality of service has nosedived. Customer service is nonexistent. She’s rude, disrespectful, and lacks basic manners, constantly interrupting and talking over members instead of listening to their concerns. It’s shocking that someone so unprofessional is in charge of a gym. A recent incident highlights her incompetence and discriminatory behavior. The gym has a clear policy: *'No bags on the gym floor to prevent trip hazards.'* Sounds simple, right? But Parissa seems to apply this rule selectively. When I pointed out that others weren’t being held to the same standard, she dismissively told me, *'Only think about yourself, not others.'* Aren’t rules supposed to apply equally? I also asked about a man carrying a massive bag, much larger than what should be allowed. Parissa claimed that *'small bags are permitted for medical reasons, like diabetes,'* but the man in question was a high school student with a large bag, nowhere near 'small.' There’s also no mention of this exception in the gym’s policy. When I asked for clarification on the bag size and what documentation would be required for exemptions, she rudely cut me off, saying, *'This conversation is over.'* Exemplary professionalism, right? Parissa’s and Anna’s poor management and disrespect have turned this once-great gym into a nightmare. Members’ frustration is growing due to her lack of communication, failure to enforce basic rules consistently, and disregard for customer service. Avoid dealing with her if you want to preserve your gym experience. If you look at the photos, it’s clear that the rule is applied selectively—blatant discrimination. I’ve emailed both the local and head office of Crunch, but it’s disappointing that they haven’t responded. ----------------------------------- Reply to Gym comment "What your staff is currently doing is a corrective action to address the issue. However, what I experienced feels like discrimination. If your goal is to create a safer environment for everyone, you need to respect your customers and enforce the rules fairly, rather than targeting a single individual. Take responsibility for your mistake, correct it, and move forward instead of engaging in arguments." ----------------------------------

Fantastic experience: A nice experience! Friendly , and helpful staff, all around , good people! The gym is clean , spacious, has adequate machines, for the everyday person! Plenty of classes, also! The plus? Free parking, and a Woolies downstairs! Train, and do your grocery shopping, after! I joined!

Negative experience: 2 for having a massive gym facility . .Staff Standing at counter doing nothing except long chats , while the gym is a mess . Weights all on the floor , dirty napkins on the floor , bins about to overflow and some haven’t been changed since yesterday . I used a pre workout bottle and threw into one of them and it’s still there today and I topped it with the one I bought today .no going around chatting to members or anything -no vibe in the place at all . Dysfunctional management at its peak . Usually this might go unnoticed but the owner needs to know as I would want it to be a gym with some sort of culture around the place . Not posting all the pics to save the embarrassment of such a reputed gym chain and having the time to see Luch (ceo) , I respect that guy and this can’t be his standard . get better !

Positive experience: Although I have been a member for several years now, I was recently disappointed when I went renew my membership. I asked a month before at reception if I could have the same deal again which they confirmed I could but persuaded me from paying on the day as I still had a few weeks to renew. I was told a similar thing a week later (although we did not discuss the price on that day) when I insisted on paying the week after they told me there had been a price increase of $200. My bad for not paying the fist time but at the same time it’s a shame Crunch are not valuing their long term customers. It’s such a shame that I’ve had this negative experience as I think the gym is great and especially love the dance class on a Saturday.

Negative experience: The gym equipment are managed poorly. The seated Leg Curl machine is broken for months now. Despite many patrons unhappy and questioning about fixing delays, the management is sleeping. When a machine is out of order we are missing out on our workouts and have to fight for other limited machines. Terrible value for our money.

Negative experience: In general, it is spacious with a wide range of gym equipment. Amenities like bathroom and drinking station are very good. That's the 2 stars. If management is reading this, would be better if music is not so loud to the point you can't even hear music from your earphones. The speakers aren't the best, so patrons are forced to listen to poor quality music. I get a headache after a while, so tend to leave asap after i finish my routine. The TVs need replacing or fixing.

Fantastic experience: I went to this gym for over a year, never had any issues. It gets busy around 5-7pm as expected in any gym. There's a good range of machines, although another pec fly machine would be great. Staff are always available, especially Parissa and Ana who I have noticed almost every time I enter the gym. Parissa makes rounds in the gym and monitors the gym to ensure safety; and Ana is always readily available at the desk, happy to help where she can. If I wasn't moving houses I would continue to go to this gym until I reach my goals. I highly recommend, so long as staff (especially Parissa and Ana) remain the same with their energy and readiness.

Negative experience: Management used to be great unfortunately going downhill. Managers won’t even look at you or say hi when you walk in the door. Always looking down at their phone when at reception. Managers used to care to know you when you were coming everyday and used to have great atmosphere. Staff will also purposely have phones off the hook on weekends (no manager) so they don’t have to answer calls. Management don’t care, I received very rude attitude and no recognition of loyalty especially when you’ve been there longer than the manager and staff. They call and leave no voicemails but then blame the customer for being too late to renew or contact them, how was I supposed to know it was crunch who called when emails also go to spam? No wonder there loyal customers are moving to other gyms.

Fantastic experience: I called the gym as I had some questions about signing up and Nick was super helpful. He had all the answers I needed. I ended up signing up over the phone based on his recommendation few days later. Anna did the sign up and she was also very helpful and knowledgable.

Negative experience: If I could give this review zero stars, I would! I’ve been going to Crunch Mortdale for years and the gym has gone downhill, particularly with the Manager Parissa at the helm. The equipment is outdated and the gym is no longer a safe space for women to exercise in, particularly when management turn a blind eye to aggressive behaviours from male gym goers. Head office, pay attention to this branch, it sure needs it!

Negative experience: Very disappointing at this branch. I’ve been a member for a few years. because of going overseas for holiday so wanted to cancel for now and rejoin when comes back. Went to the store and been told the dates of the last payment and will cancel for me, no one ask for any paperwork or signature. However got charged continuously until I got back and went to talk to them. But they refuse to refund anything and keep saying I have to sign something to cancel. How would I know what should do at cancellation? I even had the hand writing note saying the dates of my final payment. And they still have the record of the day I did cancel the membership showing I scan the member card and the counter( you don’t need to scan at the counter when you attend the gym, only scan when you want to change something) Very dishonest and very unprofessional service. Everyone should be careful with them. Disappointed and dishonest and unprofessional service. Not even deserve 1 star.

Negative experience: I’m over 55 and have been training since the age of 18 in many different gyms. I’ve been a Crunch member for over 10 years. I have trained in 3 different crunch’s over those years, I’ve never come across rude stuff like mortdale crunch, they don’t even lift their heads too look at you when you walk in or out of the gym there alone to say hello or goodbye.. I had to find out one of the staff members name, it is parrisa some gym member told me and had nothing nice to say about her. Well either do I and a lot of other gym members, she is a nasty piece of work, very abrupt and rude to members that I have noticed and heard. I've never seen anyone so rude that deals with the public. I have noticed she favors some people and let them go in without scanning their card. Regardless i personally ignore her go in do my thing and leave..and please fix the equipment a little bit quicker

Negative experience: I am a disability support worker and my client is a member with crunch gym. He has been trying different crunch locations. Today we went to Mortdale crunch. As his support worker I have been able to sign in as his support worker with no charge. Today they asked me to pay $25 and this has never been asked from me before. We have been to Chatswood, Hurstville, parramatta and Bankstown. I don’t actually do much work out just support him when needed so I’m not about to pay $25. Up until today I was thinking about join crunch. Quite disappointed.

Negative experience: I believe there is a big scam happening in this gym, I never signed any contract because of my work so I'm not in synedy all the time, I always like to go month to month contract. They keep taking money out of my account so I had to shut down my account. I called them and I asked them few times regarding this situation and their staff clearly not trained for this matters . I asked to speak to a manager and they always tell me will call you back and they never did.

Negative experience: Long time member here. I’m a fairly regular early bird there around 5am opening time. Multiple times a year a staff member fails to show up to open the gym. Waited for 20 mins today and gave up like many others and returned home. Fully understand people call in sick or for other reasons at last minute and these things happen at any workplace. My issue is this happens all too often and management doesn’t seem to have systems in place to prevent reoccurrence. To me that’s taking members for granted who drag themselves out of a slumber to hit the gym at a sparrows. The obvious solution is to have two staff opening the gym instead of one. Come on Crunch do the right thing. Thanks

Fantastic experience: As a foundation member I have stayed loyal for multiple reasons. The staff in particular are fantastic, whilst there have been many transient younger staff who have worked at the reception desk there remains one who is absolutely exemplary in every aspect and has been a regular staff member for far longer than the average young person , her name is Elise and is constantly friendly, helpful and personable every time I walk in the door, she remains the only reception staff who is always welcoming and stays at the desk and will go above and beyond to make members feel welcomed and accepted. Any membership issues are sorted quickly by her when folk have queries and she always sorts them immediately on the spot. Elise greets everyone with a delightful smile and pleasant demeanour and I personally look forward to seeing this little breath of fresh air who radiates sunshine with her awesome attitude and makes every visit pleasant. I have never seen her cranky or unpleasant to either customers or her colleagues and she spends more time tidying the gym up than any other staff members I’ve noticed and is one of the rare staff members I’ve seen who diligently cleans machines and stocks up the sanitiser sprays and paper towels. In a world where we all are quick to criticise poor service I’d like to push back by acknowledging good service and great staff and this young lass is exceptional.

Negative experience: As a longstanding member of Crunch Fitness Mortdale for over five years now, I was disappointed by the recent encounter I had with a staff member, a manager in fact, by the name of Marissa. Marissa spoke to me with such blatant disrespect and condescension, making me feel unwelcome and undervalued as a paying customer. It's unacceptable for any staff member to treat any member, let alone a human in such a demeaning manner. I was not going to make an issue of Marissa’s behaviour, however I am aware that other gym members have had similar encounters with Marissa and I thought it was only right that I made it known so that action can be taken to prevent this in the future. Other than Marissa's mistreatment of club members, Crunch Mortdale is a great gym.

Positive experience: Inexpensive for the basic membership and I don't feel intimidated going to this gym as I have in the past at others, so this one suits me just fine. If you go during off peak times there's plenty of machines available and there's parking on the same level. I haven't done any of the classes but they do seem to have a good variety and they are well attended. Whilst the staff are usually very friendly and helpful they aren't always on the front desk when you need assistance and they don't monitor the paper towels and disinfectant regularly which is annoying. But on the whole I think it does the job for the price.

Fantastic experience: Staff was extremely helpfull as i had a issue with my membership due to being on a vocational get away. Parissa was so understanding and went out of her way ro resolve my membership issue. All the staff at the front desk were very nice. Negative experience: Sign up when they have a sale, or don't bother. The gym is large, but there are always machines out of order and everything is just a little bit gross and dirty. The bubblers have mould growing on them. Have complained for 2 weeks straight now about the chest press being broken and nothing has been done about it. Staff don't get paid enough to care or do a good job.

Positive experience: I’m relatively new to the crunch Mortdale, very crowded but still possible to get my training done in reasonable time(55/70 min) lots of weight and essential equipment in place. I’m extremely unsatisfied with a culture of the gym users in general, more than 80% don’t use towels machines are wet from a sweat and the crunch staff don’t seem to care about it.

Negative experience: This was once a great gym. Now , the equipment is run down, it is usually quite dirty and half the weights are left all over the place and you can’t find them. Toilet soap dispenser is broken and has been for over 9 months. Lockers have been broken in the toilets for several months and not fixed. The bubbler filters have their light off which doesn’t show if the water is clean or not. The vending machine is pointless because half your drink leaks when it comes out. I have put in several feedback forms to ask to be contacted about various concerns , only for them to be ignored and never contacted. Do not offer feedback forms if you do not have any intention of contacting your members back. UPDATE: I would like to add to this. Since this review, I was contacted via email once to acknowledge the last feedback form (of the 3) that I sent. When I asked management to review the other 2 feedback forms I sent in, no follow up response was received from management. Disappointing. Perhaps rather than focusing on getting more members, you should also consider retaining the members that have consistently showed up and supported this gym since its beginnings

Negative experience: I have been to the Crunch Mortdale for many years. When each time passing the receptionist desk, I have never get any eye-contact or get any smile from the receptionists. I don’t care. Recently in the weekday’s daytime, I saw a BIG MANAGER called Amy in the receptionist desk. She wears very high-heeled shoes and black suits. Not sure whether the dress is appropriate or safe for the gym. I don’t care. However I do care the way she talks to the customers is so aggressive and rude! This BIG MANAGER has no single interest to the customers. It can be her bad day. But your customers don’t deserve all your horrifying and bullying attitudes! You are not working in a big corporate environment, and you are not the BIGGEST BOSS. You should think you are working in a friendly local gym. Be nice! Those are the persons who are paying your salaries! No one can tolerate your such rude attitude.

Negative experience: My overall experience was incredibly disappointing. I decided to cancel my membership, filled out the cancellation form, and thought everything was taken care of. To my surprise, I was still charged the following month! When I contacted customer service, they were unhelpful and refused to issue a refund, even though I had followed their cancellation process to the letter. I called three times. It feels like they’re more interested in squeezing every last dollar out of their members rather than providing good service. Their shady billing practices are a major red flag. I would not recommend Crunch Fitness to anyone. After many attempts to change my mind about canceling my membership, I firmly said no. They should not ask me again to reconsider. This is the most dishonest gym and staff I have ever encountered. I haven’t received any money so far

Negative experience: Half the people don't use towels or wipe down equipment. I hate walking up to a machine and finding it glistening with sweat
Positive experience: Okay gym and a good deal, as long as you bother to clean equipment before you use it otherwise risk contamination. They provide cleaner, but I took my own because I had contracted laryngitis from somewhere in the first two weeks of going there. After a bad accident when I was hit by a boom gate and left with a broken arm and hip, I called twice from hospital to cancel the membership. They were helpful but it took a fortnight for deductions to stop, as seems fairly normal with any cancellations these days.

Negative experience: When you sign up you pay one month in advance as a deposit which is used as your 1 months notice when you cancel (which is a scam in itself because why do they even need notice?). I agreed to this when I signed up, I wasn't happy about it but what ever. Went in today to cancel my membership I was told I will still be billed for the coming fortnight and the 1 month deposit will also be taken and nothing can be done about it. What a joke. I am going to be taking it to fair trading. I will not be removing or editing the review even when I get this rectified. Wasting my time. What a scam
Positive experience: Best prices in the area and a large facility but does get a little overcrowded during peak hours. Their equipment sometimes doesn't get repaired for a couple of weeks and is now becoming outdated. At least there's a lot of different equipment to use for a good price. The change/bathrooms do get quite dirty too but i don't use them often. Haven't had the need to ask for any service at the front since signing up and i have not had any issues with the staff as other reviews mention.

Negative experience: Disappointed with crunch today. Gym is usually open at 5am. I arrived at 5.45am and the gym was closed. People were waiting out the front. There were no numbers or online help to sort out the situation. Hopefully this can be rectified so loyal members are not left wanting. Negative experience: Today 13.03.22 at 7:30 the gym was not open. I woke up so early on a Sunday morning to get the work out in... someone must have had a great Saturday night.
Negative experience: I started off to inprove my condition. But had problems could not go back that offten. However I had to go many times. Qnd put complain in ,because their did not take my member fees out. On top off that late fee . I had to do it 3 times. The stuff is hopeless. All I get is sorry qnd it happen again and again I canceled my membership
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars, believe me I would. The regional manager of this place - “Ian” - the most racist, prejudiced person I have ever come across. The gym has lost its status with me and many other members due to this man. It is not only at this branch, every crunch under his managerial umbrella that I have been to have declined drastically. I only hope the company wakes up to itself and realises who they have hired and correct their mistakes. They’ve lost four memberships in the past week as I and three others I know have left, and others will not take long to follow suit. Disgusting.
