Our comment from FitFit Australia about Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre:
The Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre in Melbourne offers a wide range of facilities for the entire family, including several swimming pools and exciting water slides, making it a popular destination on hot days. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facility and the friendly staff, which enhances the overall experience. It's a great place for kids to have fun and for families to enjoy quality time together.
However, there are some areas that could use improvement, including managing crowds better during peak times, especially on hot days when the pools can become overcrowded. Some visitors have raised concerns about the attitude of certain lifeguards and the lack of strict supervision, particularly with rowdy groups. Additionally, the closure of pools during winter months and long wait times for water slides have frustrated some guests.
Overall, while the Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre has fantastic amenities and a vibrant atmosphere, addressing customer service issues and better crowd management could greatly enhance the experience for all visitors.

Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great spot can get very busy
Fantastic experience: It's good
Negative experience: This pool gets incredible busy on hot days The day I took my family here there was 2 police officers that wore dealing with a group of 20 teen boys I believe drinking and fighting The lifeguards are rude pulling full grown adults up for playing with there children. I tried to flag down a lifeguard as I noticed a small child unsupervised in the deep end of the pool the lifeguard had an attitude when I raised concerns. I noticed the lifeguards chatting amongst themselves and not supervising the very overcrowded pool. The front reception was Lovely to deal with. I don't think I'll be returning
Negative experience: There are a lot of good things but I will focus on bad ones, since not talked about a lot here in these reviews. Water temperatures is not managed well, specially a troublesome for young ones during early summer seasons, less baloons provided for slides, wait times are too long for slide and kids get easily bored. Not many wimming classes to cover all levels of skills, we put our kids in the same level consecutively for two years. Security shoukd be stringent for some groups who play rough around the pool. Everything else is good.
Fantastic experience: Very fun swimming session with the boys, would come again. Very cheap for a swim
Fantastic experience: Great facility, could do with some more parking and either better/more food options on busy days or invite some food trucks in.
Fantastic experience: Its crowded on a hot day but super worth
Negative experience: One of the staff members wearing yellow behaved in an extremely disrespectful manner. Her attitude was unprofessional and made me feel as though customers were being treated poorly on purpose. It was an unpleasant experience, unlike anything I’ve encountered before. I left immediately and will not be returning with my children in the future.
Negative experience: recently enrolled my child in swimming lessons at this facility, and while the facility itself is modern and well-maintained, I’ve been extremely disappointed by several aspects of their service. First and foremost, the swimming pool is closed for about half the year during the winter months. This is incredibly inconvenient, particularly for parents whose children are in ongoing swimming lessons. The winter closure disrupts the lessons, and as a result, we’ve had to scramble to find an alternative facility during that time. This is not only a hassle but also inconsistent for kids who are learning to swim. Consistency is key when it comes to lessons, and this extended shutdown essentially puts a halt to the kids’ progress for months at a time. What’s even more frustrating is the complete lack of communication. I've tried reaching out several times by phone to get clarification on the schedule, inquire about any possible alternatives, or to see if there’s a way to continue lessons during the winter season. But every time, my calls go straight to voicemail, and I’ve yet to receive a return call. This lack of responsiveness is disappointing and leaves parents feeling disregarded. It’s a real shame because the facility itself is great. The staff, when available, are friendly and professional, and the pool area is clean and well-maintained. However, the winter closure and the lack of communication seriously detracts from the overall experience. I hope the management will reconsider their seasonal closures or at least provide better support and communication to parents. As it stands, we are looking for a more reliable option for our child’s swimming lessons.
Fantastic experience: Nice park so clean
Positive experience: Good gym, except for a whole lot of kids who use the machines as a place to sit and use their phones
Positive experience: Equipment could be better maintained, such as mats need replacing, seats cracking, grips getting slippery. Overall, a good gym to workout in during the day. Very busy from 4.30pm until 8pm. Lots of younger teens working out during this time.
Fantastic experience: Winnie the almost 14-year-old smooth collie has developed a bit of an obsession for sleeping in the clumps of native grasses under the eaves of the footy club rooms. She is at her absolute happiest sleeping outside, and the place she chose is sheltered from rain and wind. It is in the midst of a busy thoroughfare and she loves life going on around her. The people around here, including footy club officials and centre staff, seem to give Winnie free reign. She has proven herself to be perennially calm and friendly, frisky and keen to play if a puppy surfaces, and during daylight hours she is forever scanning the ovals for a dog on the horizon. She's also a little bit senile. They understand that Winnie is on her last legs, still they are all very patient and forgiving as she uses those last legs occasionally to flatten a clump of grass. I've learned how to steer her to open ground behind the clumps, and I also fluff the grasses back up before we move on. Winnie's love of this sports complex is based in her love of the dogs and their human companions who use the ovals. She also has a special bond with lots of the kids, being endlessly patient even now when pain and difficulties walking can be very pronounced. Winnie tries her hardest to get to the park as often as possible and we are very grateful she has a place where she can spend time surrounded by the scents and sounds and views that keep her so full of enthusiasm for life. And every once in a while I too will fall for the serenity of the park and start snoozing. She is kitted out in a dry coat, with a thick waterproof mat beneath her and often I put a blanket on top of her. Getting her to go home, no matter how many hours have passed w ile she sleeps, is hard work. Winnie has perfected all the stalling techniques, and is particularly adept at quietly hooking her lead around trees and posts, causing her no additional pressure but stopping the ealker dead in their tracks. As I attempt to wind back to her to bring her forward again, Winnie has already begun doubling back to the grass, dragging me with a force that reminds me of a small tug boat. It is difficult to remember that this stubborn divine dog won't be around for much longer. Her passion for living and acceptance of her limitations has been a humbling and privileged experience to go through, even if at times the sheer amount of care she requires can leave me worn out and ragged.
Fantastic experience: I visited Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre earlier this week to sign up for a gym membership. The person behind the desk, named James, was very professional and made the process super easy. Happy with the customer service so far.
Fantastic experience: took a nice fat poo in this pool. workers cleaned it up like a slave because thats what they are. nice substitute for a toilet
Negative experience: I went here for a boxing class and the amount of disrespect from the i structure was appalling. I am utterly shocked in the way in which I was verbally abused when I claimed to be injured and the instructor told me I was fine!!
Fantastic experience: Really pretty sunset an hour before closing that's where I like to swim most
Negative experience: Please don't use this Centre. They are run by a council and have staff who support and promote DRAG QUEEN story hours for kids. Thats GROWN MEN dressed in drag outfits such as G-STRINGS reading stories to kids. What does this adult entertainment have to do with kids? If you want to see how absurd it gets, then check it out on Youtube or google it. You will be horrified. These people are sick
Negative experience: I did not go there. Thats very spooky and makes me uncomfotable Why would I receive that question. That makes me very uncomfotae
Fantastic experience: Great family pool, with Awesome service and the slide great fun and value for me and my Boy
Fantastic experience: Good slides and great canteen
Positive experience: Pleasant experience easy access and parking Nice little Cafe inside and food OT too expensive
Positive experience: Very well maintained facility with plenty to do for all ages.
Fantastic experience: We had my grandsons 3rd birthday here and tell you what the staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and caring, customer service at its finest, they made us have a wonderful experience, and the pool, and the green grass and shade is fantastic! And the facilities were so clean. All my guest were very happy, thank you to the amazing team that was working today! We appreciated you all, you all went above and beyond
Positive experience: Great facilities but a bit of advertising online mentioning they are closed due to school carnivals would greatly be appreciated amongst parents with young children!!
Positive experience: A nice place to enjoy with the family. Plenty of space and shades. Unfortunately, some people smoke and vapour inside. They don’t care even after they got warned. The centre should have strict rule for them if they want to keep it as a family friendly place.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience here, lots of pools, waterslides, gym and a cafe
Fantastic experience: Great swimming outdoor with huge Waterslide
Fantastic experience: Lots of pools and options for the kids to have a swim and a play. Shaded areas and sunny areas to lay down and enjoy the good weather (if we have it). One big pool is heated, so it caters for those of us reluctant to experience the cold. Reasonable priced.
Positive experience: We love coming here only wish there was more umbrellas here for the grass area to sit under shade. Food is good reasonable price too
Positive experience: Excellent facility
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and great community. It has everything you could need to get into shape from an Olympic swimming pool to a sufficiently equipped gym to a wide range of classes.
Negative experience: Nice facility! That’s for sure. Great pools with shades for family to chill. Kids playground was awesome. The only downside is there was no-one monitoring the queue on the ground for the water slides. So people, especially kids, kept skipping line and keeping the rafts for themselves instead of passing the rafts to people waiting in the queue. The wait was long, made even longer because of that. Talked to 3 lifeguards. They all said “there should be a security there” and all three times I went and checked. No one there!! Came back and report to the lifeguards. They reported back to duty manager but there was still nobody there to monitor the queue. People in the line were expected to manage among themselves. And mind you, most of them were kids!! Can we expect them to manage among themselves??? Such nice facility but that really ruined the experience. Edited: Took away one more point as my daughter reviewed that she was hit while she was still in the slow slide (body slide) by an adult sliding down after her. So apparently the guard girls that stood on top of the slide and the guard girl on the ground did not really communicate about whether the person in the slide had come out before sending down another. Luckily my daughter was only hit on the shoulder and nothing broken. Such subpar operation and management for such busy season of the year! I urge the management to train their young staffs better!!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to splish splash with the kids. Contemporary amenities, affordable entry fees.
Fantastic experience: It is a very nice place, especially the shade over the pool, the trees, the picnic areas are good, I think it is the first choice instead of the sea in hot weather.
Fantastic experience: Very nice swimming pool if you're doing laps, but I did see it get quite busy during the hot days, which is expected. I wish the swimming season could be extended with warmer water so I can swim there more throughout the year.
Positive experience: Chill place. Gets crowded on hot days
Negative experience: We have loved this place since it opened, but last w'end a massive gang of boys over run the pool and hurt both my young children when they jumped in the pool. Management and security were useless!! They just passively waited for the police to arrive as these young, extremely rude, abnoxious, teenagers ruled the roost taking over the pool with everyone watching in disgust!! I wasn't about to watch and wait for a young child to be be seriously injured or drown, so I stood up/in front of them and stood my ground, along with a few other people. I will never go back, it's not a risk I'm willing to take!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place, kids enjoyed throughly.
Fantastic experience: Little bit of Queensland in Melbourne.
Fantastic experience: Great nice and clean
Fantastic experience: Staff are very friendly. Pools are nice and clean. Had a great and relaxing time
Positive experience: Great place to bring young kids.
Positive experience: Sooooo funnnnnn, entry can be a little pricey
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool
Fantastic experience: Fun - but packed on hot days
Positive experience: Fabulous facility. Waterslides unfortunately not run very efficiently. At least 30 minutes wait per slide today. *WAY* too big of a gap between sliders made it ridiculous. Need to fix this for busy days!
Negative experience: Since the swimming pool is big and there is more then one pool, it should have a big cafeteria, more signs for food, more tables and chairs for people if they want to have food from a cafeteria. Also we paid for the slides but there was too many people on the slides, they should have a limit.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool
Positive experience: Very good facilities and nice staff.
Negative experience: My recent visit to this gym left me quite disappointed. As a guest, I was charged $17.80, which seemed excessive considering the facilities provided. The gym itself has low ceilings and narrow spaces, which creates a cramped and uncomfortable atmosphere. Additionally, the noise levels were quite high, making it challenging to focus on workouts. The lack of adequate shower and changing rooms was also disappointing. Compared to other well-known gyms that offer additional amenities such as spas, hot tubs, and indoor pools at a lower cost, this place seemed overpriced. One of the most surprising aspects was the restriction on using a jump rope. Even though there were no scheduled classes in the group lesson room and it was empty, I was not allowed to use a jump rope. It's perplexing that a sports center would hinder someone's desire to engage in exercise. Overall, my experience at this gym was far from satisfactory. Considering the limitations, lack of amenities, and comparatively high cost, I cannot recommend this place for those seeking a quality workout environment.
Positive experience: The kids like the water slide in summer.
Positive experience: A nice, clean and relatively well equipped gym. It gets better in summer time when the outdoor pool facilities are open too. However, recently the gym gets packed after 5 pm with minors who occupy the equipment whilst browsing their mobile phones, having absolutely no idea how to excercise. I am glad those kids are out and about, trying to stay fit and healthy, unfortunately they are not following the etiquette of the gym. It is very disappointing that both the staff and their parents do not intervene. If this will carry on, I will be cancelling my membership moving elsewehere.
Positive experience: Good facilities.
Fantastic experience: Very impressive indeed I must say. Very well spread out, clean and well appointed.
Fantastic experience: They keep the pool and deck area clean and safe. Plenty of life guards around. The water slides were a real hit! So fun going down the double raft of singles. I think the washroom showers need to be cleaned more often (or have better self draining) but it may have just been a busy day that I noticed any issue. Overall a great place to spend a few hours with the family. Been about 15 times. Will keep going back.
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. Classes get cancelled so forget about getting into a routine. 2 classes cancelled within days of each other is unacceptable. Forget about using the pool in the morning or during the day in summer, it's constantly closed for schools so theres another part of your membership you'll never be able to use. Go to Broadmeadows instead. Better facilities, better pools and run by a much better council
Fantastic experience: Great gym facilities with 24/7 access in the neighbourhood
Fantastic experience: Big, tidy, and safe!!!
Fantastic experience: So good during the week when it's not busy, the kids pools are heated which is fantastic for morning ls
Positive experience: Fairly new renovation & upgrade. A shame the waterslides went. Lots of pools, looks great
Positive experience: Good pool and gym
Fantastic experience: Awesome family day out and the kids pools are completely shaded, which makes everything so much easier.
Positive experience: Great aqua park. Small pool for kids. Little water playground and also slides. The orange slide is super slow and can be good for confidence building for kids I suppose. I didn't particularly like it. The blue raft one is way better but expect a wait. Not sure if the all day pass for the slides are totally worth it. It's going to depend on the day and temperature and how many people get it so I suggest going in to check first.
Positive experience: Great pools and awesome slides, just some of the front desk staff are quite rude and probably need customer service training, but overall it was a good experience nice n clean pools. Hadn’t been since they renovated it as I use to live up the road many many years ago, but I came from Craigieburn to go there and will go again, definitely better tban Splash in Craigieburn..
Fantastic experience: Always a great day pool's so clean staff are great
Fantastic experience: First visit with kids, awesome
Negative experience: Lost for words ‼️
Positive experience: Great 50m outdoor pool with dedicated lap swimming. The kids splash play area is covered and the shallow pool is perfect for toddlers and very warm. The slides are good, but the line can get a bit boring.
Positive experience: Lovely, although would have been 5 stars if the Cafe was open.
Positive experience: My daughter has gone here a few times with her school and liked it. But she’s gone again with me and wasn’t really impressed. Parking is a joke, no cafe, hardly any seating outside to watch your kids, I can’t sit on the floor! No indoor pool. It could of really been done great so we could use it all year rounf
Fantastic experience: An excellent experience on New Year's Day 2023. Temperature was around 34-35C. Not too crowded and plenty of available places for us (5 people) to sit in the shade. Highlight was the pair of excellent water slides - though not for the fainthearted! The pool was of course busy, but lanes for those doing laps were kept clear and well managed by the life guards. The queue for the slides was around 30mins, mostly waiting in the Sun. You buy either a single ride or triple ride ticket. If you bought the triple you would have to spend an hour and a half of your visit queueing. We were not warned about this when purchasing tickets. This waiting time could have been shortened if there had been better communication between those managing the top and bottom of the slides: several minutes were wasted waiting for the person at the bottom to pay attention and give the Okay signal. But both slides are a fantastic ride and well worth the wait if you enjoy fast roller coasters and the like. Definitely not for the faint hearted!
Fantastic experience: Good place for summers.
Negative experience: Too long to get in and way too long of a to get on the slides. Don't get your money worth especially when you have your family.
Negative experience: What a joke, opening at 12pm on a 35 degree day on new years day. Line of 500 people at the door. Council taking the p155.
Positive experience: Fantastic facilities and wide open spaces make it a great pool experience .
Fantastic experience: Great for families. The canteen has no real variety for an all-day stay. Bring your own drinks and food
Fantastic experience: Great facilities especially the pool
Positive experience: It is a pretty decent place. Swimming pools are great. All life savers were really there, paying attention. The caveat we’re people smoking near kids.
Positive experience: There definitely needs to be a proper section for kids were the parents can enjoy the experience with their babies as well without being splashed and scaring most little ones ...a proper seating area maybe around the pool a cafe would be nice inside or somewhere around the outside area
Positive experience: Changed so much in years.
Fantastic experience: Great outdoor pool, slides are fun and the kids' play area is great!
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids and adults too!
Fantastic experience: Great Gym....All type of gym classes Yoga, Zumba, Circuit, Pilates, weights, Active Seniors etc. Swimming pool only Summer.
Fantastic experience: Pool And Gym Area Good.
Fantastic experience: Good pool for laps, although sometimes there is a platform put up midway and it's just a 25m pool, so ring ahead and check.
Positive experience: It is a good pool but I find the showers too hot. A temperature more like what they have at Coburg Leisure Centre or Brunswick would be more comfortable.
Negative experience: Absolutely no need for LIVE music performers, this place is already loud enough with kids screaming. Absolutely disgusting. Have some respect. Never coming back!
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. The kids loved the waterslides!
Positive experience: The place was great but the life gaurds didnt you to do anything fun inluding dloing flips, cannon balls, belly flops, and they didnt allow us to play with the ball we brang
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids on a hot day.
Fantastic experience: Great outdoor pool, slides are fun and the kids play area is fantastic!
Fantastic experience: Pool water is nice and clean. Good facilities.
Fantastic experience: Great place to chill and swim. It has water slide too.
Fantastic experience: Love this place so do the kids
Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful pool and all the stuff were really lovely
Negative experience: This place has too many rules by the life guards and u cant even use slides.Another thing is that they close too early, the last thing i hate is that when u can’t stand or swim u can’t use the lines and u might drown. Not happy -Ryan 9 year old
Negative experience: I went to the pool with my school for sport day and went for a dip, it turned my whole black shirt to pure orange. I'm wondering if there's bleach in the pool water?
Fantastic experience: This leisure center is a very exciting experience, there 2 big slides, kids water area, and a shaded Shallow pool.we had fun with family and friends. The kids really loved it! highly recommended this place!
Fantastic experience: One of the best neighbourhood pools. 3 outdoor pools to please everyone of all ages. Highly recommend!
