Fantastic experience: Good gym! Good vibes. Great staff.

Negative experience: The music tonight is deafeningly loud and just awful. Play whatever you like but don't ruin it for everyone who isn't into it. Also clean your bathrooms.

Negative experience: The trash music blasting at ridiculous volumes makes going to gym miserable.

Negative experience: Gym has gone downhill, staff spend more time on their phones than maintaining the actual gym. BYO paper towels to wipe down equipment - half the machines have been out of order for months

Positive experience: Nice gym good equipment for all the exercises apart from there toilets and change room that are just disgusting most of times. Definitely needs a upgrade

Negative experience: Used to be the best derrimut gym and every one would train here. Now it looks like a halfway house in comparison to your other gyms which have all had make overs or are new. The bathrooms are gross, the layout is horrible as the place feels too small now and the “reception” area is laughable. being an og member when this place still had the green carpet it’s disappointing to see the priorities lie elsewhere and not at this site.

Had a fantastic experience with one of the guys there, he helped me a heap in regards to where the equipment was and took the time to have a genuine conversation with me. Forgot his name, had tattoos. Only downfall was the parking however could park nearby. Would recommend

Positive experience: It’s a solid gym with a everything you need in terms of variety of equipment, but there are a few areas that could use some improvement A big shoutout to Daniel - whenever he's on shift over night, the gym is always in top shape. The weights are all put back, and the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the space are noticeably better. It’s clear that Daniel takes pride in maintaining the gym for its users. and it makes a difference in the workout experience not tripping over weights left all over the place which is apparent when he’s not working. That said, overall generally the bathrooms could use a bit more attention, as they tend to need cleaning more frequently. I think that’s more to do with the culture amongst members. Additionally, some of the equipment could benefit from more regular maintenance to ensure everything is in top working condition.as well as stocking up protein shakes. With a few small improvements, this gym could be excellent!

Negative experience: 3/5 of the steppers have been out of order for at least 4 months and more than half the treadmills have got out of order signs on them. Clearly don’t do maintenance. Make sure you do a walk through before you sign up as it’s busy during peak hours especially when half the machines are out of order

Positive experience: Good gym. Newly renovated with huge variety of new machines - has everything you need for a complete workout. Helpful and approachable staff. Good meals and selection of protein and RTD. Very cheap memberships and good value. Five negatives (hence 3 stars): 1. very busy during peak times (understandable given how cheap the memberships are). 2. Poor hygeine - it’s a huge problem here. Toilets are the most feral toilets I’ve ever seen in an establishment in Australia. This isn’t a one off problem either - have been training here for years and the issue has persisted. It’s verging on a health hazard that’s how bad it is. They have dedicated cleaning staff but they’re not keeping up with the demand needed to maintain these toilets to a clean standard 3. Very loud music to the point where you can’t hear your own music. I had to upgrade to noise cancelling AirPods to listen to my own music. 4. Water fountain situation is terrible. There’s only 2 for the entire gym. Clearly not enough for the amount of people who train here. There’s usually a line of 5 people waiting. The water pressure also is weird. If two people are using the two machines the water pressure is halved, so makes no sense to have two. Also if you forgot a bottle you can’t drink directly from the fountain due to poor pressure. 5. During peak summer season usually they let it turn into a sauna until they turn the air condition on. In winter for some reason the air condition is on full blast. Weird.

Positive experience: Pros: Great gym with heaps of equipment and space. Multiples of most equipment and a boxing ring in the centre. Ready to go refrigerated meals and drinks are also available. Friendly members. Heaps of parking. Clothing, food and supps store on entry/exit of gym. Cons: Music is pretty hit and miss (the music that just sounds like sirens/alarms needs to stop). Male toilets look worse than public high school toilets (boys of the gym - pick up your game you monkeys) Some equipment permanently temporarily out of order (fix or throw out?). Water dispensers need to be replaced (100ml per 60s). Some staff don't look like they want to be there.

Negative experience: Very busy, could do with more equipment as they have room to put more down the middle Also a lot of their cardio equipment is out of order with more than half the stepper machines being out.

Positive experience: Overall Derrimut experience is great across a lot of their gyms. Airport west has great staff and overall environment is good from its members. It’s one caveat that keeps being brushed off is their cardio machines. I’ve asked multiple times when they’re getting upgraded for the past year, each time it’s “next month” or “soon”. Half the treadmills have issues where they can’t detect weight or incline doesn’t work. All of which show errors. 20% of the machines have an out of service sheet on them. They’re all outdated compared to their other gyms which have newer machines that have less issues and great features. I would love to see these machines get addressed soon :)

Fantastic experience: Great staff and well equipped gymnasium

Negative experience: How are only 2 out of 5 stairmasters in use?? This is ridiculous, I try to be on the stairmaster for about an hour and if two people are doing that, that means that 2 stairmasters aren’t available for a whole hour which is just unacceptable. 2 stars out of 5, to represent the stairmasters lmao.

Negative experience: Only one stair machine was working

Fantastic experience: Anna and Amy at the front desk were absolutely lovely. Amy was very helpful and Anna lent me her personal equipment when she didn't have to. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: Terrible aim pal

Positive experience: I love Derrimut gym but this one specifically is not of my please specially now in winter. It’s super cold even more that outside and in addition to that, they have the great idea of turning on the fans as if it was hot. Man, turn the heat on in winter so people come.

Negative experience: Garbage selection in music, plus it's so loud that it overpowers my noise cancelling headphones. They claim they can't turn it down. Haven't they seen a volume knob before? I've cancelled my membership. Hopefully I can actually find a gym with no loud music.

Fantastic experience: The best community I've been apart of. So positive, and uplifting. I get personal training here from Nathan, My first session I had a list of things wrong with me following a long period of health issues, which started from a head injury years back, I looked very unwell, and as if I'd aged prematurely. I have lost 15kg since joining and training with him, and I've put on a significant amount of strength, muscle, I feel and look 20 years younger. My cognition is 100% too. For 8 years walking was a struggle, I could barely move at one stage, I now can dunk on a good day, and can sprint without pain, jog endlessly. Thank you Nathan!!

Fantastic experience: Affordable , great open times , pleasant customer service

Positive experience: Gym is awesome as it has everything you need. They keep the gym and toilets clean. I like that they publicly display Halal Certificates for the food. Customer service could be friendlier and more welcoming.

Negative experience: I am a foundation member and have been coming to Airport west since the day it opened. Sadly I don’t recognize this gym anymore. You have a quarter of your treadmills that have been “temporarily out of order” for quite some time while the other half of treadmills constantly cutting out mid exercise. This information has been shared with staff more than several times but to no avail. The belt for the belt squat has been missing for more than 3 months and it is yet to replaced. We are unable use the machinery as a result. Whilst most of your staff seem to be great, others need to come to the realization that they are not there to satisfy their own egos but to assist customers. I exercise at a particular time every day of the weekdays and the very same songs are on repeat on and on again Monday-Friday without fail. We get the staff member has a preference for a particular genre and that’s ok. However customers have given this staff member feedback about the repetitive nature of the music, just change the playlist without changing the genre. Instead of saying flat out NO to customer how about you ensure customers are feeling accommodated instead of just feeding your own ego. It seems some of your staff have forgotten why they are here. Nothing will come of this feedback but anyway.

Fantastic experience: Most of the time i train in the night time. The staff member daniel is very friendly and very hard working he keeps the gym neat and tidy. He is doing an exercise job.

Negative experience: Worst car parking. No light, no car parking and the floor of the car parking are so rough same as the moon. No more safety!

Negative experience: It used to be a good place but, now it is neglected ..YES many equipments but also many "temporarily" out of order..it is understandable that machines need maintenance BUT,, same equipments that are.really popular out of order for 6 months..that issue added to the fact that the gym is cheap.and that they are.enrolliing lots of people every day, makes.your workout frustrating...you need good luck to find an equipment available

Negative experience: The male toilets are absolutely disgusting and borderline unusable. The male patrons should be embarrassed at the state they leave them in. Where's the respect?? Inability to flush a toilet??!! Go back to kindergarten. Braybrook leaves it in it's wake. Reply to response: I completely agree the cleaners do a great job. My review was of the male gym users and their complete disregard for the establishment.

Fantastic experience: my favourite derrimut gym. love the facility and the staff here. the environment is unbeatable, happy to call this my second home

Negative experience: The only good thing about this gym is the membership sales. I’ve been a member for a while and attended classes/used the women’s gym, however 12 months ago they closed the gym for a week to do some renovations. Fast forward to 12 months later and the classes never resumed and the women’s gym never reopened, with no comms about why or a re-opening timeline. They say they will be completing the upgrades mid-year but honestly I don’t think I’ll believe even if I see it. Also they say they aren’t bringing back the Les Mills classes, which is extremely disappointing. Also what is the admin fee and why do existing members need to pay it when renewing their membership?! Overall membership can be cheap on sale but the service is poor.

Negative experience: Cancelling membership seems impossible and looks like these payments will come out of your account for rest of your life. Went to the gym to cancel the membership and they said they only cancel over the phone. Called to cancel they asked to call the gym location I signed up in the first place. Called the location I signed up in and they can’t cancel over the phone and I need to go there !!!went there and canceled and they informed me 2 more payments will be deducted from my account and that’s it! 3 months passes and I realised they still deducting the money from my account. Called them to ask why and they said it never cancelled and I have to go to the gym and cancel it IS IT A JOKE OR WHAT?!!Canceling a gym membership doesn’t have to be this hard! Airport west and Thomastown do better

Fantastic experience: Much better centre than the Derrimut suburb location

Positive experience: I love Derrimuts, big fan of their gyms, was a Pakenham member for years with no complaints. Love that there is so much equipment. Airport West has had some renovations in recent years but the toilets are somewhat a disgrace. Not a single toilet in the girls bathroom is undamaged. They all have issues and need attention. Feels like general maintenance isn’t a high priority at this location. Gym goers also leave stuff everywhere, not the gyms fault but maybe a warden to try and reduce this chaos wouldn’t go astray.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! Nathan is such a great boxing coach. Really highly recommend him. He has great tactics and skills and always get a good workout with him!

Fantastic experience: At the discounted rate it's a fantastic gym, I'm enjoying the upgrades. There's well maintained quality equipment. friendly staff, good tunes and lastly there's not too many heros. The ventilation is really poor and no AC on hot days but good for those that want a big sweat during their session. overall Derrimut disco motivates me to train hard with its good vibes.

Negative experience: Unfortunately this is probably one of the worst Derrimuts gyms I’ve been to, feels like they half done the Reno’s since they changed the layout, Aircon’s are always terrible, floors have uneven spots. The place could use a update

Positive experience: Nicely updated equipment recently, clean and with mostly friendly staff. However; >Little to no parking due to Sharing parking with multiple car mechanics/scrappers that dump their cars there. (Ive gone multiple times and had to turn around due to being unable to get parking there or nearby (unless you want to park at the shopping centre 300+m away in the rain) >Due to great low prices the amount of people inside is insane and wait times on specific equipment can be expected. >Absurdly loud music

Negative experience: It's not good for the area, too many wannabe gangsters driving around in their Mercedes at high speeds in Dromana Ave. The road needs speed bumps to calm the young dagos down. Seems to be alot of show ponies that frequent this gym and also a potential crime syndicate.

Negative experience: my boyfriend found the mens toilets smelt like feaces. literally he found a pile of it on the ground in the mens bathrooms. if i dont notice any changes to hygiene im callimg up council to investigate. this is atrocious!!

Negative experience: Toilets & change room are gross

Negative experience: Very Poor Air conditioning and Ventilation. Literally no fans in most areas. HVAC systems not in order. Quiet disappointing when compared to some other Derrimut gyms in the area.

Positive experience: Not bad. Some machines cushioning probably need replacing. Otherwise decent, good range of machines, love the natural light from the skylight vs Oakleigh which doesn't have. One water fountain seems to be always out of order though.

Fantastic experience: Very good facility’s and good equipment and good employees

Positive experience: Please stop playing love songs, slow dance songs, and slow RnB songs. Okay gym overall, however, toilet seats have been broken for years. There’s no sauna like the other Derrimut’s, and parking is terrible.

Positive experience: Super confused what’s going on here, so they started a renovation, got rid of the classes spaces, the ladies gym, opened everything up, which is great! 10/10 lots of new machines. But, not enough plates, all the machines but if one person wants to train heavy legs, no one else has any plates. The changerooms are next level tiny, most of the lockers don’t lock. There’s no room to get changed, you can see all the way through the changerooms where people are getting changed from outside. The disabled shower inside the men’s, the cable has a hole in it and sprays water everywhere. Why start a renovation then not even 1/2 finish it? Reception isn’t finished. No idea what is going on? Are they buying another building and expanding. No idea? Was super stuffy when it was hot yesterday as well. Still a better gym to train at than Thomastown derrimut

Negative experience: Must be the only gym in Melbourne so busy it's like a zoo

Positive experience: Sunday morning dumbbells perfectly arranged and gym spotlessly cleaned. My favorite time to train there !

Negative experience: Worst customer service!! Cancelled my gym membership in person last year. The staff on duty asked me to fill up a paper based cancellation form and advised me that since I had the membership during promotion, it will automatically be canceled on February and there’s nothing further to be done. Last week, I got an email saying my account’s overdue and I checked my bank transactions, realised that it was still taking money off my account till this date. When i rung up the gym, they said they don’t have my cancellation form on file so its my word against theirs and refused to give me a refund. They said the only thing they can do is cancel the membership for me over the phone and I asked them to email me a confirmation of cancellation via my email, but haven’t received anything yet. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to this gym, such a SCAM!

Fantastic experience: It was good finish work close by quick session but I need more 25 kg plate so I can lift more weight

Negative experience: Gym is just brilliant and great people around. The music though! It's like being at a music festival or at a wedding hired poor sound systems! It's way too loud..deafening even wearing noise cancelling earphones I have to listen to the tunes decided by the person at reception which is absolute rubbish. Fix the music situation or pay for new ear drums for members. Ps not everyone wants to listen to loud deafening trash techno music in morning. Also the staff may want to learn a few basics of customer service. Especially the young kids.

Fantastic experience: Gym is fine, great equipment but there is very little parking! Very poor access in that respect! If there are mobility problems? (ie leg/knee/hip injury) Access will be problematic!

Negative experience: Beware of signing up to this gym, I paid for a whole year solely to go to classes and (which are supposed to be included in membership) and the women's gym and about 3 weeks later with no warning they have cancelled all classes and closed women's gym and when I enquired there is no plan for them to return at all, just left me high and dry, money down the toilet. They can just completely change what they said they will provide with no reimbursement per terms and conditions apparently. Very poor customer service.

Negative experience: We checked on the google and says the gym open..but we surprised when we arrive it’s closed.. should saying on the google permanently closed to give the Derrimut customers idea

Fantastic experience: Great gym with all the equipment you'd need

Positive experience: Massive gym! Heaps of equipment and machines You'll get your work done quick even if there's a lot of gym goers. One thing though, they need resistance bands. There are none in there at all.

Negative experience: Your ventilation system needs to be cleaned out and the vents look dirty and dusty.. not good. Also the boxing trainer there believes he owns the gym and was rude to your clients and he need adjust the way he speaks with your paying customers and need to show your clients a bit more professionalism especially when he represents Derrimut Gyms

Negative experience: The gym is great but the staff push boundaries. As a male, the female staff members walk inside when there other gym members in sight while they are getting undressed and using the facilities. The main door is always open which allows anyone to look inside. This gym does not make me feel safe to use the change rooms as the female cleaners are invading my privacy. This must change.

Positive experience: This gym used to be really great but now not so much. First of all it’s a sauna in there and it’s hotter in the females session . Definitely need to fix that! The equipment needs a revamp (all old) especially in the females section it’s like we get the left overs. No one re racks their weight ever. The derrimut gyms are great low cost big area but the airport west one is probably the worst one

Positive experience: Mirrors worked great, could see how huge I am. If I kept going to this gym I probably wouldn’t stay so huge as compared to the other derrimuts I’ve been to. This was pretty poor. Lots of Brocken machines. Not enough equipment to use on the cables way the ropes. I can’t believe the minimal amount of benches they had for chest.

Positive experience: Giving 3 stars for the first visit. Review subject to change based on the experience I receive on each visit. Kind, friendly, compassionate people inside the gym, reception staff were friendly and helpful. First time at any gym in 10 years. First time here last week. Some gym equipment was unavailable, I believe that's a given seeing its a 24/7 gym ️‍♂️ And who knows how the machines get treated when no one is around. Played a stepping game over the weights left on the ground from the people who couldn't be bothered putting them back in their correct place. A good idea would be, once a week on different days, assemble the whole gym and show them how to put the weights back, becuase then any body who doesn't put it back will be automatically judged based on the teachings you gave and I'm sure no one wants to be judged or even told to do the right thing, just an idea. Put my name & phone number down for a personal trainer to contact me, but unfortunately, I never heard back to show me how to use the free weight section. Weight machines were easy to follow with picture instructions.

Negative experience: Good gym. 95% of the parking is taken up by the repair shop..... real let down when you need to park 2 street away...

Fantastic experience: great products and wide spaces. very well priced compared to most gyms.

Positive experience: Pros - lots of machines/cardio - lots of squat platforms/racks - cheap Cons - horrible ventilation/minimal fans/no aircon! Working out in summer is barely manageable - culture of not returning weights - good luck finding matching dumbbell sets without a scavenger hunt! - no resistance bands/pull weight belts etc. - music is deafening - can't really get away with airpods unless you are really cranking it!

Positive experience: Solid equipment, good location and atmosphere. Loses 1 star for the absolute mess it was to find plates or dumbbells and even just the state the place is left in is sad. Lots of potential to do better but I guess that's why the cheap price.

Negative experience: This USED to be an incredible gym up until 2021. Now the place isn’t managed well at all - most machines are broken for months on end and the music is played at a ridiculously deafening volume. It seems that they know the “Derrimut 24:7” franchise will always do well, so they put zero effort into this gym. And they clearly don’t care about their members. There’s a suggestion box but it seems like that’s just for show as well. Easily the worst derrimut gym of them all, which is a shame because this used to be one of the best Melbourne gyms. Whatever changes have happened in 2021-2022 have made the gym a terrible place. The staff is really nice though, but it unfortunately isn’t managed well at all. I’ve been a member since the gym opened in 2014, and I don’t say this as a troll. I want this gym to be as good as it used to be but I fear that will never happen. Do better. Doherty’s gym in Brunswick is clearly the better gym, so save your time and head there instead. Fix the machines. Fix the music. These are easy problems to fix, so stop being lazy and actually put some effort in this gym.

Positive experience: Convenient. Not too busy compare to other Derrimut gyms

Positive experience: worked out at home for many years; new to the gym environment; this gym is really big and has everything. i got there at 9pm on a Wednesday; was medium busy then tapered off. got a full body resistance program done. very bright atmosphere, motivating music.

Negative experience: Reception staff playing with kittens behind the desk while "working" ignoring customers, price hike from $10 to $15 over night for a casual entry. When questioned the response I got was " Yea bro it just went up overnight" as if that's a legitimate reason. This gym has lost the plot.

Positive experience: Gym is big, lots of equipment. No air flow and air con is broken, so that’s why not 5 stars
