City Tattersalls Club

Positive experience: Christmas lunch with friends was made disappointed as background music was far too loud - four friends forced to lean over the table to hear each other. Why are the mains laid on top of the chips? Looks like the chef is trying to hide something. Unable to cut the chicken schnitzel till I moved it off the chips. They had no crunch & looked pale - some were still cold - frozen chips used and not cooked long enough. Sadly unable to enjoy the meal. Very mediocre. Being a Saturday lunch maybe the head chef isn’t present . Dessert menu almost non existent - dropped into QVB for an indulgent sweet. Would I go again? Not for a meal but yes for a meeting place & drink.

Fantastic experience: Won the Lexus LBX raffle called in to meet management and thank them. Stayed for lunch great service and delicious lunch.

Negative experience: As an interstate traveller visited this place and i have to say that the security needs to be learning about how to talk politely to people upon entry. I don’t recommend this place worth a visit.

Negative experience: My recent visit to the Castlereagh club was cut short at the reception desk by a doorman who accused me of being drunk, even though I engaged him politely and informed him I'd had one drink previous to arriving. Never dealt with such a snide and unwelcoming reception. Needless to say my partner and I found a more accomodating venue.

Negative experience: Hard to find entrance to castlereagh street club . No sav. Blanc, waiting for shipment ! No lunch menu displayed, $ 35 pork, with no salad, veges, etc. Open restaurant when ready for visitors, not now. Would not recommend.

Negative experience: The first impassion are so badly with gaming girl on 21 Dec 2023 at 16.30 pm. I’m med some girl a bit tell long hail and skinny, she welcome me so rude, at first I wanted to gamble in there but idk I have to be a member and I didn’t bring my passport and she doesn’t expand clearly to me that made me and Mr friend a bit confuse and after that she talked with us in that rude way. It’s better if you train your staff to have a nice attitude

Fantastic experience: We booked lunch prior to seeing a show at the Theatre Royal, so wanted to make sure we time to enjoy our meal. We were seated promptly, how to order was explained and our meal was served promptly. Leaving us time to enjoy and then go to the show. The meal was lovely.

Fantastic experience: Always have a lovely time visiting the City Tattersalls Club. The meals at Jimmy Chew’s, St James Hotel are a great price and generous serving. Love the monthly specials also. The staff are always friendly and efficient.

Fantastic experience: Tattersalls has three or four locations around the city. One of my favourite things about Tattersalls is that it's welcoming, family friendly & offers a little more than most clubs for a great membership rate.

Fantastic experience: St James City Tatts Club gives extraordinary service and yummy meals. One of my favourite restaurants around town. The meals served quickly and the rates were reasonable. Staff were very courteous and served with a smile. And we always like to see Giulia, who always makes sure to greet us and makes us welcome. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: The Staff at the St James and the Castlereagh club provide a great service. They are cheerful and and always smiling. The food is great at both venues. Wine list could probably change every now and then but overall an enjoyable time spent there.

Negative experience: Just had the lobster special, and all l can say is terrible. The shell looked second hand or from garbage , there were about 4 small chunks of frozen grey lobster mixed with noodles shoved in the 2nd hand shell, and about 10 chips and the salad looked like leftovers. I had a friend with me that had just flown in from Perth, so imagine how embarrassing it was that l had suggested we eat there.

Fantastic experience: Went to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and afterwards a group of us came down to the Tattersalls for breakfast. Great building and the service was great.

Negative experience: The bar attendant by the name of Jaclyn was quite rude. I was at the bar on a quiet night waiting to be served. Then another gentleman came along, she pointed behind the gentleman and told me that the line is behind the gentleman hence she needed to serve him first while giving me a dirty look. She had a discriminative tone of voice which is not how customers should be served let alone at a bar. Very disappointed and I would not go back again.

Negative experience: Dreadful tasteless food. Singapore noodles no taste. Oily pancakes. Really poor.

Negative experience: Visiting from Melbourne i was instructed to check this place out. I walked in and a cleaner stopped me just two steps in the building and said I needed to scan my drivers licence to enter. As a trans women half way thru transition, the cleaner judged my picture on my drivers licence (being a male dl) and asked me to immediately leave. I tried explaining to the cleaner why this was the case but she shooed me out of the building I then walked into the tab which is part of the same Building and decided on some racing bets instead. No Issue in there!

Negative experience: Tried two meals here. Both felt like out of a can. Thrown together stuff with cheap canned sauce poured over. The place has a big problem with cigarette smoke. After I leave that I can smell cigarette smoke on my clothes and I can smell it while I am there and so can others. I think it is coming from the gaming room and the smoking area which are effectively all under the same roof as the general area and it's seeping around.

Positive experience: Relatively inexpensive membership in a good central CBD location close to Town Hall. Gym is well-equipped with good cardio equipment plus a 14 metre, pool, spa, sauna and steam room. Group fitness classes are ok.

Negative experience: Horrible service. Waited for the person at reception/front desk to scan us in and all he did was look at us, look away, and continued with his conversation on his mobile phone. So we signed ourselves in while he was was chatting and laughing in the background on his phone. Not a difficult thing to do - signing ourselves in - but I mean, he's paid to do a job?

Positive experience: jazz music in the downstairs bar..lovely decor. First night we went we ordered a cheese platter..plenty of cheese, crackers etc on the board..the following week, what a miserly amount was given.I asked the young man who made it " where is the res" and was rewarded with one of those blank stares the young perfect and the reply "that is how I make it". Well, not good enough.
