Fantastic experience: Its been a very long time ago since come back to Canterbury League Club. The staff are very friendly. My friends and myself attended the Club of NSW function The food are fantastic. The service are great. Very clean club. Will come back for sure.

Fantastic experience: The Heritage Room downstairs is really big and private, not far from the lift and restrooms. Our guests really loved the selection of dishes they served. Thank Michelle for her professional organizing who provided us everything we need; includes their friendly staff, especially Matthew and Bill. We’ll use them again!

Negative experience: Club still applies the 5km entry rule for non-members despite it being abolished by the NSW Government. Wants you to join or won’t let you in. Door staff unfriendly and rude to the point of argumentative. It’s an RSL club, not some exclusive high-end venue. You’d think they would want people to come in and spend some money especially those in the area.

Negative experience: ABSOLUTLY SHOCKING EXPERIENCE. I have been a member for many years, had a break, then decide to invite my neice for lunch on Sunday. Delightful young staff , made us welcome, Carmine always delightful, service just great. FOOD, DREADFUL, JUST DREADFUL, fish get better at cheap TAKE AWAY. Steak no flavour , and stale salad. Screaning screaming screaming children running up and down the room, poot piano player .SHOCKING , surely there must be some RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE. DISGRACE RSL.

Fantastic experience: My local always has a pleasant atmosphere BJ at the front desk is always welcoming and cheery . With a wide range of food types to choose from but not necessarily cheap for a RSL.Plenty of Big Screens to watch your preferred sport on.

Negative experience: Ordered medium flank steak but came well done and chewy, better luck next time. served with ice cold béarnaise sauce..

Negative experience: The restaurant manager really needs to step up. The staff are doing their best, but the experience was disappointing. My friend and I ordered a platter, and after waiting over 30 minutes, only half the food was fresh and hot (tenders and pork belly bites), while the nachos and chicken wings were stone cold. When it came to dessert, the issue got worse. How can you sell a cake that’s not even listed in your system (Mars Bar cake) and have no way to manually enter the price? I was initially charged $7.80 for a more expensive New York cheese cake because the Mars Bar cake wasn’t on the till. After pointing it out, another staff member had to step in and correct it, charging $6.90 for some other cake instead. I understand it was a busy night, but the overall experience was far from acceptable.

The extensive range of vegetarian options was particularly impressive. Overall, we had a very good experience!

Negative experience: If I could put 0 stars I would for the park eatery inside the rsl. Came here to first time and they stuffed our order up so bad and showed little to no care. Came again tonight and gave them a 2nd chance and they just have the worst service. Always forgetting something and when asked for it they take forever

Positive experience: My parents are patrons of this RSL club, so they wanted to treat myself and my husband to lunch. Surprisingly the food was very good albeit a little cold. The portions, taste and value are honestly better than most RSL clubs. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly, fish was flaky and the curry of the day was very flavoursome. The fries unfortunately were cold and the wedges were mediocre at best. Food presentation is quite sloppy, and the salad was merely a few morsels of salad leaves and onions. For dessert we had a variety of cakes, carrot, blueberry cheesecake, passionfruit cheesecake, tiramisu and black forest. They were all delicious. My personal favourite was the passionfruit cheesecake. Staff were friendly, atmosphere was pleasant. As for the gambling aspect, I cannot comment as I did not gamble here. Overall I would recommend this RSL for a quick lunch or dinner with your parents. Note to chef, presentation and side dishes really do make a difference. My rating would have been a 4 possibly a 5 star had the plating, food temperature and sides been better. The foundations are all there, it just needs to be better executed.

Negative experience: The manager was a rude arrogant man that was peed off because 6 of us were seated at a 10 seater table. He was talking about us to the staff as if we couldn’t hear or other he didn’t care, made our dining experience very uncomfortable & the food was not up to standard either. I think this manager has past his use by date to treat paying customers the way he did

Negative experience: Worst place for the pokies and roulette they fix all the machines if you want to lose go there

Negative experience: Criminal behaviour. Went in to watch the soccer at 5am. We were not allowed to leave the club for 45minutes between 6.30 & 7.15. NO ANNOUNCEMENT from management. I was held against my will while they counted their money from the pokies and tried to appear closed from the outside. Unable to attend to an emergency at home. Absolutely crazy stuff unheard of. Will never return

Positive experience: You guys might need more staff on the Park bar on a Saturday night. Billy makes great cocktails but they take a while and are in some demand. Can’t imagine how stressed the bar staff get with a lineup!

Positive experience: Food here is a bit ordinary. Requests to cook food to personal requirements are completely ignored. Not much to choose from.

Negative experience: Tonight my family decided to go for dinner here for the first time. First contact was a male who was rude to me. I went to sign in, I told him that I was not a member of this club, he asked me if I was a member for another club, I told him yes, I got the card out and told him I’m a member at the ebp club. He screamed out ‘what’s ebp ‘several times, I felt so embarrassed and then he told me he can’t help me and grabbed someone else’s licence. I felt like I was pushed to the side, he didn’t want to assist me. I was disgusted and walked to the lady who assisted me to log in with no issues. I was then approached by the people who witnessed this asking if I’m okay as I was in complete shock. I’m a young woman in my 20s and have never received this type of embarrassment. I felt offended and shocked that I was treated poorly. On a positive note the food was great. Would I go back! absolutely not, no one should be treated like this especially when they are doing the right thing. Managers please note: The person at the front desk is the first point of contact, they should be the ones who make a good first impression. Might want to re consider who’s at the front!

Fantastic experience: First time I visited here, and I had to join as I lived in Dulwich Hill. The staff member who assisted me in signing up for membership has so hospitable and friendly! The beers were very cheap as well

Negative experience: Went today for lobster deal, so disappointed, 3 ordered and sent back, so dry with no sign of Mornay sauce. Told if sent us new ones, would be the same.....had to reorder from menu, front staff offered apologies, but none from kitchen staff. Don't waste your time, a real shocker for what was meant to be a treat. Happy Easter kitchen staff in Hive restaurant....☹️

Negative experience: Dirty machines, not enough Ashtrays and small paper cups were being used. Toilets were filthy and the whole place is just a massive waste of potential

Negative experience: Attended the Club on Australia Day, was absolutely disgusted to find that there were no Australia Flags anywhere inside the club this year. Pretty appalling for a Returned Serviceman Club to adopt this approach, especially given the amount of service men and women who have and still are serving under our national flag.

Positive experience: Beautiful place to visit. Here for the boxing State Titles. Food was amazing in the Hive Restuarant. Coffees great in the cafe also. Only downfall was the lady at front of house checking people in. She was incredibly rude to all the younger people coming in. If you cant be kind or even civil to people, dont be at front of house.

Negative experience: Horrible experience mainly because of the old lady with blond hair and glasses. Her rudeness and unfriendly demeanor completely ruined the atmosphere of an otherwise lovely venue

Negative experience: I wanted to give this place no stars rating. I spent my hard earned savings in the pokies here. The syndicate running the club don’t give a hoot about your losses. That’s why they’re in business. Their so-called “giving back to the community” tired slogan is quite a shameful statement to be making considering they make huge profits from problem gamblers losses. What an absolute disgrace! I’ve never been back since. You know where you can stick your pokies!

Negative experience: I had a pizza from there & I felt after eating it so doesn't matter how much they try to renovate this place I'm never going back again...

Positive experience: Went for education and meeting. Lunch was good. Staff helpful and friendly. Meeting room was spacious and comfortable.

Positive experience: The price to join was cheap... At 6 p.m., there was NO ODE to the fallen that takes place in every RSL club all over the country... I found this very rude and disrespectful to those who've served and died for this country... As for the food... I got the Baby Back Ribs. Let's say that I can cook them and make them taste better than what was served last night... The membrane was NOT removed from the back of the ribs, as it should be... They had absolutely NO flavour, and there was still the sludge from boiling the ribs on them... The sauce was clearly an afterthought as it didn't stick to the ribs like it should... Maybe someone needs to head to "The Sherlock Holmes" British Pub in Melbourne to learn about cooking ribs properly (I was there last Thursday night and those ribs were cooked right the sauce clung to the meat and every bite was delicious)... Also a salad needs more than 1 cherry tomato cut in half and way to much extra strong red onion and carrot as garnish for the over abundance of mixed lettuce leaves... Salad should also include cucumber and capsicum if nothing else... Dessert was the chocolate fondant and that wasn't half bad...

Positive experience: Went to The Hive Restaurant for Dinner. Food excellent, however ordered Starters and Mains and they both arrived at the same time. Queried this with the Waiter and was told that they couldn't serve Starters seperately because the Restaurant was not "A La Carte" . Made the ridiculous suggestion that we should order Starters first and then go and order Mains after the Starters had arrived. Absolutely ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: My family and I came here for dinner and the food was very delicious! Special shoutout to Karen who served us. She was exceptional and by far the nicest club attendant I’ve ever met. Thank you Karen for making our night so special! :)

Negative experience: Went here for an event on 18th Feb. the old lady who checked me in was extra racist & rude, the crew overall seemed like they were waiting for any opportunity to exercise power against people of colour which 99% of us on the day. Will never recommend and will never be back!

Fantastic experience: Recently we visited the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club and we saw the cleanliness in that place, and how suitable it is for all pleasant events.The reception staff are very welcoming and friendly, especially Mr. BJ. There is everything that comforts the soul, including drinks, food and places for entertainment. In short, it is a very wonderful place with everything, and of course this is due to the excellent management. Many thanks to everyone and all the best.

Fantastic experience: Local Canterbury RSL, Good food and great hall for concerts. Has plenty of food options and a casino. There is enough parking as well.

Negative experience: Was put off when "welcomed" as we were greeted with bad reviews of the restaurants and that we should go else where. After eating at Work Stars, I am glad I decided to eat there as the food was good.

Positive experience: Pleasantly surprised at the quality of food at Wok Stars. We had the fried rice, black pepper wagyu and mix vegetables with garlic. I can guarantee you the chefs here have great skills and the food was delicious.

Positive experience: First time back since the beginning of the Festive Season and the club has gone through a few changes... The club wide menu is completely different and a lot of the old favourites have been taken off. Tried the Prawn Saganaki... truly one of the saltest meals i have ever tasted... The Salt & Pepper Calamari was really good as was the Pork Schnitzel.

Positive experience: Needs more quiet spaces to retreat to. Most seating spaces are crowded and over-lit. The cafe was an experience too. Four staff members buzzing around, yet not one checked to see if I’d been served for nearly 15 minutes. Asked for an iced mocha and the server was confused. Got something that sort of resembled one, so it was average.

Positive experience: My parents are regular patrons at the club, as such we have always enjoyed dinners in the restaurant for a long time. However today it was disgusting to meet a kitchen staff in the female bathrooms wearing an apron. This is beyond me because to my knowledge aprons are used to prevent germs from clothing getting into food. This practise does not meet infection control standards and needs to be addressed to all staff that are working in the kitchen in particular ..

Positive experience: As much as I’m really missing Nu Bamboo, the East West kitchen concept is truly good value for money, and offers nice, tasty and fresh food. The other night we had a lovely family dinner and everyone enjoyed themselves, from stir fries, perfectly cooked steak, pizza, chicken parmigiana and a gluten free (!) burger! A special shout-out to Adolfo, for excellent service, professionalism and friendly attitude

Positive experience: This is home away from home..very nice lace to spend lonely nights...there is something for everyone. Food is nice and satisfying, prices for quick standard meals are average prices. Like this place...no complains whatsoever.

Negative experience: Everything here is rigged! Don’t waste your money on any raffles here as you’ll never win no matter how many tickets you buy. Workers are slow and parking is to far from the entry.

Positive experience: The Bistro and Restaurant is good eating. Variety of mixed dishes to choose from. Gaming area throughout. Poker machines and Digital Roulette are available. Open to 6am 7days. 95% of Staff and Security are Friendly.

Fantastic experience: One of the best food experiences I had so far in Sydney. The service starts from the minute you open the door. You get greeted by the smily staff that guides you on how to proceed further with clear instructions. The restaurant team are very friendly yet very professional. The food plates are master pieces as you will see in the photos. The taste is simply out of this world. We had so many kids. Each one of them got an excluaive coring kit that kept them busy for long.

Negative experience: Our Christmas Dinner. We decided to dine out this Christmas and we choose this RSL and the restaurant, the Park. They advised for a Christmas dinner with a choice of the festive roast ($32) or the seafood plates ($55). We where greeted at the door and did the normal Covid sign in, shown to our table and left to order at the bar. (red flag number 1) On ordering at the bar, they staff said they need to check is the meal where available. (red flag number 2) We decided to order the roast and the seafood. ($87). Meal was at out table within 10 minutes of ordering. This is where the problems starts. The roast was just warm. Warm turkey and vegetables. The seafood, was not as good. The fish looked like is was cooked 3 hours ago and was so dry. The octopus was over cooked and was like eating rubber. The fries where also cold. Staff could not be bothered to listen and showed no respect for a paying customer. ONE STAR rating should be a NO STAR rating. I doubt management will respond. Think twice before you have a meal here. Oh and just to be sure, the RSL and restaurant was not busy, so the food should of been freshy cooked. Very poor service from this RSL.

Negative experience: I feel bad writing this review given I have been to this club many times over the years. Also, no one could have predicted Covid. However, given the timeframe of shutdown this was also an opportunity to get systems in place. The place to dine now in the Asian restaurant section, no where else. But you can't order there, no, you have to walk to bar to order ( not great for the elderly) . The selection of food wasn't bad but lots of Asian dishes which we didn't want, so Instead ordered bacon and egg bun. No butter on bun as chef doesn't put butter on them apparently. No sauces offered or salt and pepper on tables. Anyway, not pleasant dining experience. If I could review staff separately I would, just delightful and helpful. The young waitress in restaurant section was an absolute sweetie and went way and beyond to provide assistance.. Hope this review is seen as constructive feedback.

Fantastic experience: Stopped in for a few drinks with some mates when walking past. Amazing food amazing service and great prices. What more could someone want. All staff wearing masks made me feel very comfortable.

Negative experience: If I could give no star rating that would be best suited in relation to some of the security staff at this RSL. They are powertripping pushy and in your face repeatedly telling you to collect and get out while in a feature playing the machines at 6mins to close. Unnecessary eratic aggressive behaviour repeatedly telling you to collect over and over in your face like you are doing something wrong by not obeying orders when feature/free games are playing out. Do not recommend wasting your time or money to basically be bullied out of the place before the advertised close time. Also witnessed other patrons being physically manhandled while looking for their friends to leave and go home before advertised closing time.. Ashfield Wests just down the road has a much friendlier environment.

Fantastic experience: If we could give 10 stars we would! Our party of 14 needed a place to have dinner last Saturday night. Another club required us to join even though we were out of area. A patron at the other club overheard our difficulty and suggested Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL - they said the food was good. Well they were not wrong! I rang ahead to see if we could come in without joining, and if we could get a table. We were also delighted to know there was plenty of parking. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this establishment. Nothing was a hassle. From the phone call to the friendly sign in to the food which was fabulous and well priced, we were cared for as customers. The staff even checked in with us to make sure our night was a success. Thank you to all, you are doing a GREAT JOB!

Positive experience: I went to have lunch at the club and was very disappointed with the new menu. In the past I loved the $10.00 lunch specials especially the roasts of the day The new menu says "where east meets west" but there is very little to choose from the western meals. Also there is no variation in day and evening menus. No tomahawk steaks or lobster meals. I'm so disappointed I won't be back.
