Fantastic experience: I was reluctant to join few years ago and once I joined, I loved it. the club is well equipped and offers variety of classes which is important as has diverse clientele. When I joined grid, I understood how exercise can boost endorphins. Their instructor for cycling, boxing and Pilates are also great, and the classes itself can be engaging. I also like that they have seating area if you have time to relax before or after your exercise. The only recommendation I'd have is not to overcrowd grid, or manage space better. Great club overall and the instructors that I had were the most engaging and motivational.

Negative experience: No hot water, toilet constantly dirty reception staff useless 1 star because the class are good. When you pay $45/week (expensive for a gym) you deserve to have at least hot water and clean toilet

Positive experience: Best facilities P/T trainers but not happy that I've been a member since March 2015 they decided to cancel my m/ship without consulting me first. They only sent out emails I actually never received. 'no phone calls 'reminding me when I have been in and out of the club - not nice guys!

Negative experience: I had an unpleasant experience at the gym today. I was holding a coffee, which I bought from the gym’s own cafe, when a staff member approached me and said I couldn’t have coffee in the workout area. There are no signs anywhere in the gym stating that coffee is prohibited. My wife and I are both of Asian descent, and we noticed that other people were carrying drinks of various colors without any issue. I believe this is a case of racial discrimination. On top of this unreasonable enforcement, I am now being charged an extra $300 to cancel my membership. This is unacceptable and I am very disappointed with how the gym handles its policies and treats its members.

Positive experience: I wanted to provide some feedback about my recent visit to Virgin. Since returning last week, I've noticed some things that need improvement. The sauna doesn't get hot enough, and the chairs in the spa are always out of order. These same issues led me to leave two years ago, and it's disappointing to experience them again despite seeing some improvements. Every morning, I need to use the chair I hear someone saying “It is not working”. Full stop.

Negative experience: I loved this gym when I joined three years ago, but over time it has slowly reduced the number of classes (don't have to pay trainers -yay!) so they're now hard to get to, and usually absolutely packed (no space). Even better, membership dues have gone up almost 45% in this time, including a truly shocking 22% increase for this financial year. Virgin Active has become yet another business to use 'inflation' as an excuse to cash in. When my membership expires, I'll be going elsewhere. If you're looking for a new gym, this isn't it.

Negative experience: Membership prices up again, but the standards remain subpar at best. $55/week is getting excessive. Gym equipment really showing its age and the cleanliness of the toilets is a big issue. Virgin Zetland has a lot of members and is too busy during peak hours. Always waiting for your next equipment to be available. Saturday mornings are the worst now. Every clown brings their friends and weekend warriors show up. If you’re not taking advantage of the classes there are better gyms in the area at 1/2 the price. This gym should be 24/7 as well. I don’t know why management can’t make this happen. Many people have busy schedules and do shift work.

Negative experience: Toilet are always dirty and wet floor. Charge like 5stars gym. But the level pretty similar as 24/7 gym. And I can’t believe I’m trying to be loyalty member at here but I received twice increase membership fee notice in the last 5 months

Negative experience: I cannot believe that virgin active cannot afford to pay for music and has resorted to only playing elevator music in all the classes. The gym staff are fantastic and it's a nice gym, but the prices have been put up twice in 6 months and the cost cutting measures are starting to impact the service.

Negative experience: Noway!!! this gym on Sunday has no towel, so don't make towel include membership , company has to find solutions not excuses!!! For this case just to say sorry doesn't work who only use swimming pool and sauna facilities

Negative experience: Edit: 30th of May 2024 Virgin active have on the same day 23rd of May 2024 made 3 seperate deductions of my account despite canceling my membership in March. 2x $98.95 and 1x $90.95; in total $783.60 has been stolen by virgin active thus far. Edit: May 24th 2024 As you can see below, Virgin Active has responded to my review requesting that I ! contact them; as if calling them for the millionth time would change their horrible business practices, racist behaviour, and scamming their customers. Nonetheless, this is extremely disingenuous, as they did not even bother to respond to my most recent email or refund me the money they dishonestly deducted from my account. If you are unfortunate enough to have to communicate with this vile establishment, I strongly advise you to do so strictly via email. If you are looking for an experience that will shock you with its level of poor cleanliness, expose you to racism-based bullying, and leave you fuming, then this is the ideal Gym for you. The changing room facilities and showers are absolutely disgusting; mould in the shower, a thick layer of dust stuck to vents, enough hair on the floor to make a wig, and, if you're lucky, a used period pad in the swimmers shaker! Oh, what a surprise that was for me. If you are not a white fitfluencer, I am almost certain that the personal trainers will make fun of you. I can't tell you how many times I've overheard them mock potential clients while sitting at the café, especially during promotional periods. After the client leaves, the trainers immediately imitate the person's walk, laugh, body language, and English speaking skills. The trainers have a particular propensity for mocking Asian people. Describing my relief at the conclusion of my one-year membership contract as a blessing would be an understatement. Nevertheless, when I arrived in person to request a cancellation, I was informed that the manager was unavailable and advised to either call or return at a later time. Despite calling to cancel, I was still charged. I made another attempt to cancel by calling again, but was once again charged. Additionally, I reached out via email to request a cancellation again, but was still charged. Do you think after all that calling and emailing they would stop charging me ? If you think they would stop, you guessed wrong, because I was still charged. It has been more than a month since I first attempted to cancel, with $400 already stolen however, I will admit that the fault lies with me, as I should have promptly contacted my bank to prevent Virgin Active from unlawfully taking my money after my first attempt to cancel. Ultimately, if you desire a multimillion-dollar enterprise to steal money from you, observe racially motivated harassment, or be subjected to bullying yourself, along with encountering highly unsanitary washing and changing facilities, then Virgin Active is the ideal establishment for you.

Negative experience: Positives: First I wanna say the service desk people are very friendly. Gym equipment is not bad but there is alot of wear and tear building up on some machines. Like the cushioning of some equipment is breaking down. Negatives -Showers are disgusting and dirty with brown stains and other build up that has not been cleaned in years. Walk barefoot and you are greeted by a slimey texture -Shampoo/conditioner bottles empty -Sinks are just nasty (hair and other bodily fluids building up) -A Toilet seat coming off -TP Roll holder and soap dispenser missing -Mirror deteriorating -lockers are also dirty and smell like old socks and mould -swimming pool walls and floor feel slimy to the touch like they have not been scrubbed in years. On the ceiling you can see brown spots everywhere? -The Spa. Jesus. Where do I begin. The buttons to turn on the spa are these plastic bricks that are touch activated. The bricks themselves are removable for some reason and some of them are missing. The ones that are there are marked with black marker that say which section of the spa is turned on. When the spa does work, the bubble chairs turn off after like 2 minutes of use but everything else stays on for like 10 minutes which is kind of strange. Also the drains around the spa are brown and dirty. Conclusion. They have young staff called Operations Assistants that take care of the cleaning for the bathroom, pool area and all other gym areas. (As seen on their careers page) What they desperately need is fulltime professional cleaners to maintain the facilities rather than giving it to part time young people with minimal training in cleaning and maintaining areas. We pay a premium for this gym and I believe we deserve a premium experience here.

Negative experience: I'm experiencing a recurring issue with the availability of shampoo, soap, and hair conditioner in the shower cubicles. It seems that every time I visit, one cubicle is lacking body wash, another is missing hair wash, and yet another is devoid of conditioner. This inconsistency is quite frustrating, and I'm left wondering why it's happening. It appears that the consumables are not being replenished adequately, which is impacting the experience for gym members like myself. I can't help but wonder if the influx of individuals from the free trials is contributing to this problem. The overcrowding caused by these trials might be stretching the resources thin, including the availability of shower essentials. I kindly request that the gym staff perform regular checks on the availability of consumables to ensure that this issue is addressed promptly.

Negative experience: Huge choice of equipment as well as a pool and sauna. However the gym is very busy - still find myself waiting around for equipment for quite a while. Only two stars as the changing rooms and pool area were very dirty compared to other gyms I have been to.

Negative experience: My partner was there this morning for the first time for a trial class and she was treated so poorly by a guy in the reception. She even tried to find the class by herself since the guy couldn't even inform her where the class was, and she couldn't find the class and no one else that could help her. I would not recommend anyone to go there.

Negative experience: I have bad experiences in changing room. Plz put CCTV on! Last time someone sneaky on my changing drawer and took my garmin watch which cost me almost $500 meanwhile I was drying my hair around there. And the day before when I finished from sauna and pool. I accidentally left my swimsuit, came back yesterday asking receptionist. They said they didn't find anything. (They cant find any swimsuit in a plastic bag) Are you serious? It's expensive place but the quality just so ridiculous!

Positive experience: During my visit yesterday, I was met with an unexpected challenge. The staff insisted on a doctor’s note for missing a class due to a personal health matter, which, in my case, was a normal aspect of life – menstruation. My doctor said he was sorry I had to go through this and was shocked by the gyms policy and lack of empathy. Their approach, unfortunately, felt more confrontational than supportive. It’s still unresolved today and I’ve wasted a lot of time and $75 Not very Christmas spirited and has been very embarrassing for me. March 2024 no one has contacted me about this your comment is incorrect!

Negative experience: This gym comes with a hefty price tag, boasting a distinctively upscale brand. At approximately $55 per week, it certainly doesn't come cheap. With such a premium cost, one would anticipate at the very least a consistent replenishment of shampoo and body wash. It's incredibly frustrating to hunt for a shower stall that still has these essentials stocked in their dispensers. Additionally, there's a longstanding issue with one of the shower cubicles lacking a clothes hook – a problem that has persisted for months if not years.

Fantastic experience: I had training sessions with Cana a few months ago! He was very patient and motivational. His professionalism and overall demeanor during sessions are exceptional. I’ve had a couple of coaches before, and I’m telling you, some ‘trainers are lazy.’ Yet, especially when you train for a period of time, you notice they slow down the progression of teaching you because they’re ‘scared you’ll leave!’ With Cana, it’s a different story!!! And guess what? I’m coming back to train with him again

Fantastic experience: It doesn't feel overcrowded when it's busy. Classes are fun and exciting. Amazing atmosphere. Most importantly, I feel comfortable there. Women shower is equipped with pretty much everything. PS: You need to pay to get the towels or you can bring your own.

Positive experience: Gym and classes are great. But the sauna is always broken!! I come here to go to grid classes and use the sauna, so feel that you shouldn’t be expected to pay full membership and only get to use 50% of what I signed up for…

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to give a shout out to Kiera. She is hands down the best Cycle instructor! Her classes are so much fun, and she really knows how to keep you motivated. What I love is that she makes everyone, whether you're a regular or new, feel right at home taking time to remember people’s names and make them feel included. It's not just about hitting fitness goals; thanks to Kiera, I've actually started loving cycling and have been continuing to push myself each time. Negative experience: "Impressive Gym Experience, but Locker Security Concerns" I've had a fantastic experience at Virgin Active – the gym is top-notch, and the staff are wonderful, creating a positive environment. However, it's crucial to be aware that, despite its high-end status, I was today a victim of theft from my locker. It's disheartening to see security lapses in an otherwise excellent facility. Hoping for improved locker safety measures to ensure a secure workout environment. Ideally staff walking through the change rooms more often to prevent such activity from occurring.

Negative experience: VA should really monitor the free trials being given as its really inconvenient for current fee paying members to not be able to use equipment due to overcrowding. The gym isn't very huge so there is a capacity issue especially during peak hours.

Fantastic experience: I’ve green going to virgin in zetland for about 8 months now , I was impressed right from the get go , I had a meeting with one of there team who listened to my goals and found me a pt she thought would best suit me , she paired me with my now wonderful PT Lola .I think this Girl deserves 5 stars and more in her own review . I was 7 months postpartum when she took me on not only feeling unfit but really down and struggling to adapt to my new body . She came up with a program that suited my needs , body and goals exactly . And as you can imagine it wasn’t long before I started seeing results ! Not only is Lola such a nice person but she's so professional and knows exactly what she’s talking about . Such a fantastic asset to this club !

Fantastic experience: The place is the best I've ever been in Sydney. With a variety of activities and classes you can choose from, and also with 25M swimming pool, sauna, jaccuzzi, you can spend the whole day here. Those dance classes are spectacular with joyful vibe.

Negative experience: worst gym, small pool. overpriced for such poor customer service. Plus they didn’t offer student rates( they specifically stated this actually )when I was with them. No fresh air, but I guess that’s very common. I cannot believe I stayed with them for two years

Negative experience: Water and toilet paper everywhere in changing rooms. Staff are not cleaning. And clearly need some mats between shower and pool Not very nice experience to see that mess. No excuse either.

Negative experience: For a gym that costs $55/week, I would expect the machines to be maintained. This machine has been like this for months making it hard to use it with heavy weight and it's not the only machine like that. Answer to the question: The machine is Leg extension. The fact that you had to ask me what machine it is indicates that you really don’t check the equipment regularly.

Negative experience: Extremely Poor services. I recently tested Covid positive with the proof of my PCR test done by registered nurse. They refused to waive the fee during the “freeze period” even tho I am trying to do the right thing not to come to the facilities. *Note that I have already agreed to pay in full amount for this week since it’s not their “calendar week” & they can’t do anything about it until 4 May. They r suggesting me to go see the GP to get the certificate in order to waive the fee even tho I have Covid. This is so ridiculous and unreasonable. Virgin active is not cheap for their membership fee, you will expect better and more reasonable services. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: Unfortunately this gym has gone down hill in recent years and especially now. It's far too over crowded, and recently I had to wait over 40 min to use the squat rack before giving up and doing cardio. A lot of members don't wipe down equipment after use, and treat the gym like their own, hogging multiple equipment by leaving their towel and drink bottle next to a machine they're not using and not allowing other members to use that machine that's just sitting there unoccupied for long periods of time. Very selfish and rude behaviour! The icing on the cake is recently I'm seeing young kids at the gym and worst of all in the pool area. This gym is for ADULTS and I don't want to deal with screaming children running around when I'm trying to relax in the spa. The gym is my sanctuary AWAY from kids! This nonsense has to stop. I feel more stressed going into the gym when it should be a place for me to escape my everyday stress.

Fantastic experience: When I joined I had an intro session with Lola and she’s definitely who’s kept me coming up the gym! She listened, understood my motivation and developed a bespoke plan for me. Our PT sessions together are a combo of fun & challenging. If you want a PT who cares about you as a person then Lola is the women for you - Couldn’t have asked for a better trainer!

Negative experience: Towels left everywhere on the floor, lockers are constantly broken, shower cubicle locks are also broken. For the amount of money customers are paying, it should be better. Also what up with not allowing customers back into the gym after the fire alarm went off and was fine afterwards ? All the east village shops are functioning normal.

Negative experience: I was randomly charged an additional $220 on my account for no reason and when called to resolve it I was told I shouldn’t have been charged but the manager wasn’t in and they’d get back to me… also had PT sessions on my account that I never got to use due to being out of the country and a lack of response from the PT and they removed them from my account and never refunded me. Was contemplating swapping to fitness first Randwick and after a random additional $220 charge with no resolution I’d say your money is better spent elsewhere. FF now has pilates and for a fraction of the cost and better locations I’d recommend considering all options before going to this gym. Beware of the cash and grab situation they have going here and DO NOT sign up to the introductory PT sessions. Update: it has been 6 days since they took the unauthorised charge and although the woman on the phone said it was an accident the refund hasn’t even been processed yet and no correspondence from them.

Fantastic experience: Love my local Virgin gym & the variety of classes they offer. My PT Lola also creates such a comfortable atmosphere to train in! She has the knowledge and flexibility to adapt around concerns such as mental health, PCOS & other women’s health issues while still providing the best possible training, advice and motivation.

Positive experience: Great gym with great facilities - often some broken machines though (eg the body scanner, still broken!). PT Lola is amazing, have been training with her for 6 months and never felt stronger or more empowered physically. She gets women’s health issues and has worked with my physio to ensure I don’t exasperate weak areas and build the muscle to improve them. Can’t recommend her enough for all mamas pre and post baby!

Fantastic experience: Have been using this gym for about 3 months now. I am really enjoying coming here; the equipment and facilities are great. The staff are helpful and there are so many classes to choose from. However, my greatest praise is for my trainer; Bruno, you rock!! Bruno has helped me regain my confidence and is getting me in great shape. He's focused and pushes me hard, but has a laugh as well. Thanks Bruno.

Negative experience: The gym itself is good, but it's always too crowded. Most of the time, my workouts are ruined because I can't find an available squat rack, bench and the machines are taken. They need to think about capping memberships at this point. It's to the point where I have tried almost every time as I possible can - mornings, afternoons, evenings. It's always SO cramped. The pool and classes look nice, but there is a disproportionate amount of members wanting to use the weights section. Not enough machines, benches, squat racks, etc. to cater to members needs. Unless membership is reduced or more machines, benches and squat racks are in place, I wouldn't recommend joining if you don't want to be cramped to other members side-by-side. This gym is NOT functional for someone wanting to train weights and get a real session in without the stress of ALWAYS waiting for equipment.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member in this gym since early 2022. Great gym, nice and tidy place. All staff are nice and helpful. I have been training with Coach Lola for several months, she is super nice, professional and interesting, always motivate me!! She sets up the content and general direction in each training. Fantastic experience: Recently joined and I'm loving it so far. Conveniently located in East Village Shopping Centre, there is plenty of underground parking, free for 2 hours. Front desk staff always have a smile and greeting for you. Cecilia who helped with my onboarding was wonderful. Most class trainers have also been warm and encouraging. They offer a variety of classes throughout the week and there is a pool, sauna and jacuzzi as well. The facilities are clean, well maintained and large. Never had to wait for a shower or hair dryer. Good work, guys!

Fantastic experience: I have been a VA member since 2015 and was a regular at Pitt street but have been using Zetland club in the last few years. I have tried a few other gyms including some renowned names but nothing beats Virgin if you account for all the services ( classes, equipment, pool, sauna) and the cost associated with all that comes with it. They've recently included some amazing equipment and created more space. I do miss the Les Miles BA classes by Mark and I truly hope they can bring that back. Exceptional customer service, team genuinely want to help you and I would have no hesitation to always remain with VA! I just hope they open one more branch somewhere in Inner west!!

Fantastic experience: Gyms clean and tidy, lots of equipment to use. Massive sauna which is needed as it can get busy during set times. Lots of classes to work your way through. Reception staff are very helpful, Tamara (who’s out back) has been exceptional dealing with questions and enquiries.

Fantastic experience: I joined VA last month and have been so impressed with the classes including the different types of yoga and cycle classes. It's always so clean and everyone is friendly. The yoga spaces are particularly nice because they have beautiful scents/aromatics and candles etc. Would highly recommend! Cecilia has also been fabulous during my onboarding :)

Negative experience: Gym in itself is good, but as others have mentioned - be wary of direct debits. They've charged me multiple times since giving cancellation notice. Also mentioned by others - they don't seem bothered about resolving this.

Positive experience: Good gym, but I’m not to sure about paying all this money for a gym that opens at 5:30. I can’t train in the mornings because you are closed & I struggle to train properly in the afternoons because the gym is so crowded. So please open up half an hour earlier

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for over two years and I love being a part of VA at Zetland. It’s a way of life now and one person of a few who stands out and gave me lots of support on my own health journey was a wonderful trainer and Pilates instructor, Renee Rommeswinkel. I can attribute part of my own success to her unwavering support and advice when I needed it most. Renee continues to inspire me on my Reformer Pilates journey and I’m super grateful for that!

Negative experience: Always too busy - even at earlier times every bench and squat rack is occupied. Even most of the cable machines are busy. When classes are running, all the extra equipment & crossfit areas are completely used up too

Negative experience: Incredible rudest staff in Bondi Junction!! I have been insulted for a staff in reception there till I changed to do my work out in Moore Park, I have written plenty of emails and complaints. Having 2 Pt sessions left in Bondi Junction. The gym started charging more sessions without any consent. So in total I have 4 sessions Pt. They gave me back the money of 2 the charged me sessions, and cancelled the Pt. But still have 2 sessions left. I spoke Adam Spicer, who is the only person helped me with this situation, and I have the email with a confirmation to get my money back. Unfortunately, Adam isn't available to work atm. I have tried several times to explain it another manager Sarah Glader. She said me yesterday about the policies I won't get this money. I have closed my membership with them, and they don't reply my emails. I hope any manager or Head Office can contact me to solve the situation. Because I can't find any of you after Adam Spicer, who was incredible friendly and helpful with me.

Fantastic experience: Working with Rod has been transformational. Before I was out of shape, hated going to the gym, and was 86kgs. Over for the past 6 months, I lost 6kgs and am back in shape. Rod is a great guy to work with. He's extremely friendly and knowledgeable and will build a plan for you to do your best. Rod helped me achieve the results that I wanted (and beyond). I would highly recommend Rod to anyone looking for a patient, customer-centric personal trainer for a holistic fitness plan.

Fantastic experience: I love the gym, its facilities, the classes and the trainers. I have been working with Rod Coronel for almost 2 years now and I am always amazed by how he continues to include and adjust the training and exercises to support my limitations but at the same time push me out of my comfort zone and make me stronger. Fantastic experience: I’m a huuuge fan of the team at Virgin Active Moore Park! They clearly hold themselves to high standards that don’t go unnoticed. Big thank you to Coach Remi in particular!!! Remi goes above and beyond and has helped me sooo much over the last 18 months. She’s always up for a chat between sets when I’m pretending not to be puffed and has increased my confidence on the gym floor in a massive way. I’m amazed by how she comes up with something new every session and was particularly grateful for the care and creativity she put in to keep me motivated and sane during Sydney’s lockdowns. Shoutout also to instructors Christina, Michelle and Mark for the quality Les Mills classes, and of course Lek for the Thursday smoothies!!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic and modern gym located in the local shopping complex. In addition to the usual gym equipment, there is an indoor pool, rock climbing wall and a wide range of classes from yoga and Pilates to Hiit and spin. Thank you to the manager Brittany, she is extremely helpful and made me feel welcome and informed about the joining process.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of VA Zetland for just over 2 years and couldn't be happier. There's an extensive range of classes on offer, and the trainers are very knowledgeable and friendly. A special shout out to one trainer in particular, Renee Rommeswinkel. I choose my gym schedule based on Renee's classes, and am grateful for all her support and guidance in her pilates and grid training classes, especially during my recent pregnancy where I had to modify movements.

Positive experience: not bad. Super busy during peak hour. A lot of the soap dispensers guard are broken. The swimming pool has gotten quite cool and it is definitely not very heated as it should be. Classes are good so book early.

Fantastic experience: Joined a couple weeks ago and loving it! I go do some weighs, take a class or just go straight to the sauna and spa for some chillax time. The weights section gets busy at peak hours but supose that’s the same in any gym. Staff are friendly without being annoyingly friendly if you know what I mean. Has a great vibe and I strongly recommended it!

Positive experience: An excellent gym with great facilities and staff. The only reason I can't rate it the full five stars is the opening hours, closing at 10pm weekdays and even earlier weekends really limits when you can go, especially for us that work late. A little disappointing considering its price but bar that a solid gym. Owners if you read this please consider staying open later on weeknights / weekends!

Fantastic experience: The only gym I have stayed consistently at due to do much variety. I have had my PT Sarah Western for nearly a year now and always look forward to our sessions. I have come a long way since I first started my sessions with her and I’m excited to see how much further I can progress with Sarah providing great coaching and training!
