Fantastic experience: I really enjoy being able to do sauna post workout. Even though it has little amount of machines, I still manage to alternate with people as many are willing to alternate and have the culture of sharing the space. Reception staff have been always friendly to me, which makes me feel at home like when I worked out in my home country. Like a community vibe instead of just being a cold transaction.

Negative experience: The worst one ever. Changed my membership fee without any notice and keep charging me extra. Told them this issue already, but they are all too busy to take care of this.

Negative experience: The gym is constantly dirty and poorly maintained, I never see the staff on tidying up or keeping the place neat and tidy. While a few staff are friendly their overall attitutde is very apathetic towards people, no real pleasantries. This attitude seems to be carried over to the trainers as well who rarely seem to acknowledge anyone. A friend of mine also had an incident where they were verbally assaulted by someone who had mental problems. None of the staff that saw the incident stepped in to stop this and I was appalled at how they handled the entire situation. On top of that the management did not take any responsibility or take care of my friend after what transpired. I really feel like they just don't care at all. Thankfully I have found a new gym (Anytime Fitness Balaclava) that is much better equipped, maintained and managed. Never again Fitness First....

Negative experience: 21/7/3024 08:30 and the gym is still closed. Supposed to be open at 8 am . People waiting outside in the cold for 30 min and no one answering the phone. I think it’s a bit slack really .

Fantastic experience: I am very happy with the customer service provided. All staff members are very friendly and efficient. I would like to make a special mention to the club manager, Luke Sheffield, for being so understading and supportive. He is always prompt to help with enquiries and questions. Negative experience: Ok. So. Staff are friendly enough, and the lifting equipment is decent, but it gets crowded quickly, so it’s best to come during off peak times if you want decent access to the range of weights. But, there are two main issues I have with this gym that anyone thinking of joining should know about. First, the treadmills are slow and clunky. Each time someone finishes up on one, you’re left waiting indefinitely for it to reload or recalibrate or whatever it needs to do before you can use it again. Really frustrating. Second, the sauna. While it’s great that FF has a sauna, it’s not well taken care of by staff and it smells like mould. In fact, the whole men’s changing room does. I’ve complained to staff about this health and safety issue, but nobody seems to want to actually clean the sauna properly. Mould and gunk are clearly visible near the heating unit in the sauna, and it’s grose. You get used to the smell, which is horrific given the health problems associated with inhaling mould. It’s also a tad ironic that a fitness centre whose very business model is to promote health and wellness is choosing to ignore a blatant safety issue. And, the seats in the sauna are flimsy. There has been at least one accident where members have fallen and injured themselves, resulting in the closure of the sauna. All in all a good gym with some serious flaws. Had I known about the sauna and the mould, I would not have signed my life away to Fitness First for a year, but oh well. When my membership lapses, I will not be renewing it, and will seek out a gym whose owners take health and safety a little more seriously. The owners don’t seem to appreciate that there are several competing gyms located in the area, and that having a sauna is an advantage they should cultivate, not ignore. Disappointing gym with potential.

Negative experience: These people will keep deducting money even after cancelling membership, they will lie and cheat to take money from you. I told them earlier on phone to cancel membership and they said it will be done and kept charging me for months, after several emails they cancelled my membership and still didn’t refund the difference of three months. I had paid membership for over a year, inspire of giving fare notice they still didn’t return three months payment which I didn’t use.

Negative experience: The men's change room floors in this FF are a disgrace! Always dirty and a swamp. Have reported it to the desk staff, however management don't seem to care. In addition to this, the other evening there was no shower soap in any of the 6 showers and 2 of the shower heads were broken (still). The gym floor itself is good, albeit a little tired, and there is a nice selection of equipment, except for the cable machines (which are always hard to get). Clearly no investment is being put into it, as I've heard the gym will be closing down in around 12 mths anyway due to a pending property development for the site. Finally, the opening hours are simply not great. Besides them needing to be extended in general, it closes at 8pm (instead of 9pm) on a Friday, which means that if I finish work a little late it makes it impossible for me to fit in a proper session. A few quick easy fixes as per above would definitely improve my rating. Shame this gym let's itself down. Particularly compared to the other FFs out there.

Positive experience: Fitness First St Kilda was a good gym with ample space and a swimming pool. The equipment was a bit old, but the gym was clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I especially liked my PT session with Ed Wong. One downside was that the gym was a bit far from my home. Also, it's unfortunate that the gym is being torn down for new construction. I joined Goodlife Health Club, which is under the same umbrella of the company, but unfortunately, you can't access both gyms with the same membership. So, I decided to stick with Goodlife. Overall, I would recommend Fitness First St Kilda if you're looking for a good gym with ample space and a swimming pool. Just be aware that the gym will be closed down soon from this area.

Negative experience: Came in for a 5 day trial which I received two days prior, however upon visiting the gym the second day I was told they don’t do 5 day trials anymore… I believe it would have been fair for give that info on the first day to spare me a ride to the gym. Facilities looked like they need maintenance, not good. Would not join due to that lack of professionalism. The staff could have offered me another free day visit as I made my way already however offered only a 25$ casual visit.

Negative experience: The absolute worst! Signed a 1 year contract and they are still trying to process charges over 2 years later, using different terminals to get around the merchant blocks. Pay using a debit card or with cash or you may as well have posted your card details on Twitter.

Positive experience: I decided to join this location because it's the closest one to my place and for a couple of facilities that they have (sauna and pool) however the equipment is disappointing. Working out in the morning or late afternoon means having to improvise your routine because it's going to be impossible to have access to the only option in the small range of machines available.

Negative experience: These guys are the worst! It's been a nightmare to cancel my membership, I keep getting charges when I already told them months in advance that I don't want to have anything to do with them. Staff members doesn't have customer service skills they keep excusing with covid circumstances, etc. Instead of asking how they can help they just hang up on you. They are a nightmare to deal with. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM!!! Equipment is never enough, it's rusty and old.

Negative experience: What has happened to Fitness First St Kilda since 2017? The mats for stretching haven’t been updated since then. The bench collapsed on me the other day. A whining dog, though very cute, should not be the loudest sound I hear when I’m downstairs working out. The gym is being run down.

Negative experience: Wow! this place very famous that can NOT cancel membership properly? I requested to cancel my membership last 10 of Jan. because I moved out the other area. I heard about notice for 28 days, even I just joined with you guys and canceled, I willing to pay it. But when I checked my account, you guys keep charging more than 28days. You guys said I cancelled 30th. Why would I lie to you? And that’s you guys staff’s problem who didn’t cancel properly. You guys avoided my email, phone call, even I visited in there did’t fix this problem. I’m so disappointed you guys attitude. If you guys keep going, I will report Consumer Affairs Victoria. Positive experience: Good complete pack spot for fitness, you have a lot of option to choose to fit your workout. Plus point is the fitness classes, I will recommend to increase YOGA classes frequency especially on weekend morning.

Negative experience: Pretty disgusting facilities. Been coming here for years and it’s like it’s in this concert state of disrepair and perpetually unclean, despite the promised $3 million makeover that has been coming for nearly half a decade (even the sign at the front has given up on that promise though) Machines break, they take them away leaving sad gaps where machines used to be, while all the other weight machines are packed to tightly to use simultaneously. Change rooms are pretty putrid, and many lockers are broken. Upstairs studio seems like it has not been cleaned in weeks. A lot of this stuff can be fixed with very little money thrown at it, but it just continues to get worse.

Negative experience: This gym is incredibly old and run down. From 2014 to now, very little has changed, and if anything, the equipment has disappeared with no plans to replace. The first thing you'll notice is how tired the club is inside, including what looks like flood damage by the men's bathroom's. Half of the lockers don't have doors, and those that do are holding on to dear life with only one hinge. In particularly popular times, you wont be able to get on any equipment (as there is barely any there, including some that you'd expect as a bare minimum). The equipment that is there is old and frequently have signs on them they are to be fixed, and week's go by and they still hold that same sign. Further to the that, it was only a few week's ago part of the ceiling fell in around the free weight's area. If you decide to cancel your contract, based on the above, you'll be stung with a $295 dollar fee. My advice, go to this gym if its super convenient, otherwise don't bother. There are better gyms, with more flexible contract terms with nicer people.

Positive experience: The downstairs area is great with enough to keep me busy. About 6 racks upstairs with a good stretch spot. It’s all dependent on what you’re after but slightly above average equipment in my opinion. The shower area is so disgustingly filthy I dare not enter, hence the 3 stars. Staff saying hello and smiling when I walk in would help too.

Fantastic experience: The gym has a lot of facilities and events. I have had personal training with Benita and she is a very knowledgeable and passionate trainer. She motivated me and helped me achieve some of the results I wanted. I've been training with Benita for over a month now and I'm already seeing weight loss and strength improvements. Fantastic experience: Have been going here for a couple of months now and have been very impressed with the facilities and staff. Special shout out to my personal trainer Bryan, I have been training with him for about a month now and am already seeing huge improvements in my strength and weight loss goals. He is very knowledgeable with all things fitness and makes our sessions very enjoyable. I would highly recommend Bryan to anyone needing help achieving their fitness goals.

Negative experience: Below-average gym, I wouldn't recommend it. Machines are never maintained, the staff is unfriendly, they don't even address you when you walk in. There are lots of broken pieces that never get repaired; the sauna never works appropriately, and the toilets are always dirty and blocked. Mats are faded, dirty and very smelly. The equipment is old and needs lots of work. It is pretty easy to tell that no reinvestment goes into the place. The only reason why people use this gym is because it is the only one around Alma Park.

Negative experience: They go back and forth regarding price and when you finally settle and start your trial period where they tell you you won’t be charged for the first 7 days and can cancel before this time and won’t be charged a penny. LIE. I cancelled way before the end of the 7 days and even specifically asked what day I should cancel on so that I’m not charged and shocker I was charged the full amount. When I cancelled and went to another gym I started getting emails about how they could now lower the price to almost half of what we discussed as an attempt to keep me. Why could they not have offered this in the first place? Now over 40 days later still no refund. Shocking business and just after your money. Gym is also way too overcrowded hence why I left in the first place.

Negative experience: Really appalling customer service, was told by Michael a representative that ‘debt collectors would cause me some strife’ when simply trying to clarify a billing issue. They could really try using some more compassion and understanding towards where the customer is coming from, instead of being condescending.

Negative experience: Toilets, showers, sauna and steam room have been disgusting for over a week. I’ve complained daily to about 6 different staff members and still nothing has been done. It’s actually becoming a joke now. The “cleaners” are constantly blamed for not doing their job and the message will be “passed on to management”. Maybe something will be done when the members start leaving 1 star reviews. I will not be coming next month if this isn’t sorted, it’s disgusting in there. Please fix it. ❤️

Negative experience: I cancelled my membership on the 22/5/21. I received a confirmation email verifying this. I just found out that I have been charged ever since. This is fraud . I better receive my money back. If not I will be proceeding with legal action. My roommate also cancelled her membership at the same time. She was billed also. Completely unacceptable

Negative experience: I have signed to the Fitness First St Kilda's location based on membership consultant "DANNY" words mentioning a membership where I could cancel anytime by giving a month notice. Customer service has now told me the cooling off period was only for 14 days?? I was never aware of that as your membership consultant clearly stated it was a gym with no commitment. Where I could cancel anytime. I feel I have been misleaded by their staff and the customer service experience has been nothing but poor to a point where their staff are insulting me at reception in front of other members. SCAM!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place, has become my second home. Staff have been extremely accomodating with pausing my membership due to other commitments and been very helpful. I love training downstairs and using the sauna too. Have learned a lot and feel great.The gym is very clean, friendly, welcoming and definately affordable! Highly recommend :)

Negative experience: Just the worst. I've trained here for years but have recently cancelled my membership due to it getting ridiculously busy and so dirty it could possibly create the next global pandemic. Apparently after around 6 years of membership I still needed to give 23 days of notice to cancel, and low and behold, today on the last day of my contract they have taken another fortnight's money from me. They are the actual worst. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. Two enthusiastic thumbs down

Negative experience: When I signed up I said I might be moving north at some point and might need to cancel. Staff told me that they could help me out and waive the cancellation fee if that happens because they can say that I’ve had an injury and have a doctors note. When I came in a few months later to cancel I was told by the same staff member that she would never have said this, but then quickly changed her mind and said she did say it but she shouldn’t have and would now be in trouble with her boss (who was within earshot). She then told me nothing could be done and to cancel I either had to pay $250 or get an official note from a doctor (for an injury she knows I don’t have). I ended up just canceling my card through my bank and when my account went overdue spoke to the manager who finally cancelled my account (without an apology). The gym is good but make sure you get written evidence of any claims they make when you’re about to sign a contract because I’ve seen multiple people in these reviews having similar problems with them making claims they haven’t followed through with.

Negative experience: I’ve had a horrible experience at Fitness First in St Kilda. I only joined last Saturday and I’ve had multiple troubles with my payments, communication and lack of idea. I paid $115 for a 1 month membership up front with membership consultant Zak, which I had no problem with until he asked for my bank details, which I thought was odd if I was paying up front? He assured me nothing would come out of my account and this was just the way they had to do it. Funnily enough another $115 came out of my account the next day along with a $49 ‘joining fee’ (that I never even got told about) I went in and asked for the second payment and the ‘joining fee’ refunded as I had now been charged twice without my knowledge. I spoke to the Club Manager Brent the next Friday, and he said he would refund both amounts (after me having to justify why, also without an apology for their stuff up) I asked for a conformation email for the refund and my cancellation of membership at this point. Last night I went in to check if my membership had been cancelled as I haven’t received any emails this entire time?? And surely enough, nothing has been processed, no notes have been left about any of my experience or my requests OR confirmation from Brent about my refunds and my bank details were still on my file. If you’re looking at starting your fitness journey in a positive way, I do not recommend Fitness First

Negative experience: Staff at Fitness First St Kilda were great however the company billing side is borderline fraudulent. I had my debit card stolen and only after a months’ worth of payments were missed they contacted me. They were not willing to cancel my account until the final outstanding payment was made, I explained I had not been to the gym since my card was stolen and therefore had not received any services and still they would not show any empathy to my circumstances, essentially they will keep your account running and keep you hostage until you pay.

Positive experience: Gym is ok overall given some pet peeves. First of all, no very competitive working hours when compared to gyms nearby. Common subscription will allow you into very few gyms, all far away if you need an alternative. Yoga classes are rare, which is unfortunate. Showers and sauna are a good bonus but they seem to be cleaned rarely (yes, it can get gross in there) which is a bummer given the staff should have plenty time to clean it up when the gym is closed. It feels like they ignore those facilities and it doesn't get cleaned more than once a week (if so). Pool is great but because it's shared with swimming classes it's not available during peak hours. Gym is great when not super full (after 8). Which is a problem given how busy it usually gets and how early it closes.

Negative experience: I recently joined here as it was local and the website showed it had some great facilities. When I signed up, I was not shown around the gym, I actually didn't even realise there was a third level until I cancelled my membership this week. No one asked me what my goals were or why I was joining, I was given one sheet of paper to sign. For $35 a week, the facility is really dirty, the front desk staff barely acknowledge you when you walk in and the bathrooms have soap scum all over them. The equipment is extremely old and worn and most members walk around barefoot. The consoles on the spin bikes don't work properly and the wet wipes are always empty. There are barely any group fitness classes on and when I did try to attend two, they were both cancelled last minute. I still have to pay a whole month but I don't think I can go back in the space. Also in the womens bathroom, be careful of one of the hairdryers, it smells like fire and I think it is about to blow up. Quite disappointed. There are plenty of great gyms with friendly/helpful staff and better equipment in the area and the memberships are much less!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely phenomenal experience! I'd previously heard a fair share of negative comments about Fitness First and to be honest had my reservations initially about joining. I was pleasantly surprised to have these reservations completely turned around. The team at St Kilda Fitness First have been so welcoming, they learn your name, they remember who you are, you are acknowledged when you arrive, and they seem happy to see you. A big part of my positive experience has been the customer service of Danny at reception, super friendly and welcoming. He builds rapport quickly, and makes you feel comfortable about joining, without any pressure. The classes I have tried have also been heaps of fun - Body Pump and Core. The trainers at the classes remember who you are, and happy to see when you come back. The trainers genuinely seem to care about helping you get the most out of the class.

Fantastic experience: Great facility, tidy and well equipped. The calisthenics area and sauna are a super good bonus too. The sign-up process was made quick and painless by the friendly staff. Team member Tarra has been an absolute gem being extra friendly and passing on some free helpful advice regarding the facilities to benefit my experience. I definitely recommend checking this gym out

Negative experience: Very terrible experience been chasing up for a refund of last two transaction since 2 months ago that they have gotten from my bank account without my permission . I called their head office they do not pick up and they told me money will be refunded in 10 days and today been more than a month. what is going on ??

Positive experience: Nice gym, with steam and sauna. Their USP is the swimming pool which could be used by all the gym members. The only downside is that it gets too crowded at times.

Negative experience: I cancelled my membership in Novemeber 2020 nd was promised by front desk that Dec 2020 will be last payment. Upon checking my account they are till deducting money from my account. No response to my website cancellation enquiry either. Still waiting.

Negative experience: I was told that there was a promotion going on so I signed up for 1 year membership but from the first fortnight transaction, I noticed the full amount debited from my account. The male staff who signed me up for the full price even pretended that he forgot who I was and what he signed me up for. Manager told me I will receive the full refund back to my account in a week, based on other's experience I think they know what they are doing and intentionally doing this on purpose. Not trustworthy.
