Hornsby Shire Council - Galston Aquatic Centre (Heated)

Fantastic experience: Looks great after the renovation. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming teachers were good.

Positive experience: Swan at galston pool as a lad did squads and raced there for 11years. Walked in the other day after watching the renovations. What a trip down memory lane. The staff were great and let me have a walk around . The place looks great yet still keep the old feel .

Negative experience: I'm always cautious about how genuine reviews like mine are removed from review sections that are meant to inform other customers about a place. My reviews were taken down in less than an hour, which was really disappointing. I recently took my kids, who have been swimming for 8 years at a respected swim school, for an assessment after moving to the area. It was difficult to commute to our old school, so we opted for a local one. However, during the assessment, they were downgraded two levels and told to start from scratch. While I understand that different schools have different level systems, the competencies required here seemed below what they were taught at their previous school. It worries me when supervisors are so inflexible; it doesn't bode well for progress and advancement in swimming. I wonder if the council, which owns the swim school, is aware of this issue or has measures in place to ensure children actually learn to swim rather than being held back arbitrarily. It seems like there might be a commercial agenda at play here, which I find frustrating and a waste of time.

Positive experience: Newly refurbished pool and gym. Outdoor pool is only for learn to swim unfortunately. Nice and cool on the inside pool. Great outdoor grass area.

Fantastic experience: Galston Aquatic Centre and all the staff there are absolutely fantastic. We are so happy with the progress our two children have made with such fantastic, patient and caring staff members.

Fantastic experience: Great place. Never crowded. Most times I'm in the gym by my self, same with the pool. .....Now in 2023 the place is still only half renovated, and it's been closed since 1st lockdown in 2020! Extremely slack on behalf of Hornsby council.
