Positive experience: Old fashioned suburban pool. Awaiting upgrade but still offers exceptionally clean water and change rooms. Limited grassed area but still a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours.

Fantastic experience: Clean pool and facilities. The pool is wonderful to swim in even during winter! The gym is a bit small without duplicate equipment, but still good to use and has all the necessities. The staff are all lovely and helpful. They take Fitness Passport.

Positive experience: Can't wait for it to be rebuilt. Pool and stands are outdated with broken tiles and rusty roof & awnings, building is old, architecturally insignificant with limited space to satisfy the needs of current youth & generations to come. Cafe is desperately needed. Knock down & rebuild. Staff is kind & prices are reasonable. It's as clean as an old & outdated place can be.

Positive experience: Was lovely but toddler pool not open which was a shame as I took my 18 month old grandson with me. Witnessed a man shouting and slapping a woman earlier today and nobody helped her

Negative experience: I placed my card/lessons on hold for 2 weeks, first they deducted a fee for my card being on hold, then they still deducted swimming lesson's fees during on hold time, it doesn't make sense. There is another person on my 4-persons swimming class have the same problem. Guess they are bad in finance.

Positive experience: Always a great swim here, with 59m outdoor and 25m indoor pools. Plenty of space and facilities in the changing rooms which are always clean.

Negative experience: This swimming pool very old and Maintainance very poor quality. I spent for swimming lesson 13 weeks for my son, instructor name was Genevieve, she was time waster, given nothing to students. May be she is very new or just doesn’t like her job or just want some money only. If anyone join Canterbury swimming pool, please avoid this instructor, otherwise just wasting time and money!!!

Negative experience: * Pool ok * Staff - some of them are nice * Lanes - speed lanes aren't respected, and guards around don't do anything about people playing in the fast lane. * Showers, Ok....no soap, last less than 10 seconds each press Lastly, whoever runs the leisure centres across the council is unethical and doesn't care about the community at all. I am a local rehab professional and they won't let you bring rehab clients in without booking a lane for ~$50. Plus my entry, plus clients entry. This is more than the cost for Medicare rebate. So basically they want health professionals to work for free (who are already burntout and doing what they can to actually help the community) (too in bad if they have bills to pay) or they want the injured/sick client to pay double to help cover the costs of entry. I haven't experienced any other pool that does this. Lidcombe allows just entry. Randwick just entry. Inner West just entry. As if this community hasnt had it hard enough with the strictest rules during covid lockdown this year!!!! Thanks for your support CB Council (not!!!). In addition, we don't need a whole lane, not only does this effect individual people trying to work and help, and the patient it impacts other people who can't access this lane during normal hours, because it been booked. (Yes I tried to talk to them before posting this review, and got no response). Obviously I'm really upset. I used to go here regularly a few years ago and when I moved back to Sydney recently I moved here as it is close to them! But they've changed since. Now I don't want to go there as I don't want to support their money grabbing, ill-communtiy procedures.

Negative experience: Need a vaccine certificate to use an outdoor swimming pool and you're required to book online. Words cannot express this level of stupidity. People have truly lost their minds. If this policy changes, please let me know. I am vaccinated but will not attend any venue participating in this sort of unscientific bigotry and discrimination.

Negative experience: I cancelled swimming lessons for my children nearly three weeks ago. I was told we could have one more lesson as it had already been paid for via direct debit. The children had their last lesson and we got an email confirming the cancellation of the swim classes very shortly after. The following week however my account was debited for 35 dollars for membership fees from the Canterbury Bankstown Council. I then received another email the following day stating the swim lessons were cancelled and I would be recredited for the money taken from my account. After a week of not hearing a thing or receiving any money back and sending an email to the swim school head with no reply I went back to the swim school to find out what was going on. The young lady I spoke too stated her boss was sick which may have been the reason my email was not replied too. She took my details and said things will be sorted in a few days. A few days later and still nothing. This is very disappointing that customers can be treated this way and be given the runaround. I cannot recommend this swim school as it does not appear to be run properly. I note from other reviews in relation to this place that the direct debit system has caused some problems such as what has happened to me. I would like to have the money owed returned to me. They never answer the phone and it is very hard to catch up with them which makes it very frustrating. 21/06/2022 Still nothing done a week later. Is there a number at the council I can call to have this sorted. This is disgraceful.

Negative experience: I signed my kids up for swimming lessons and am very dissatisfied. My kids had 1 lesson and I cancelled immediately after. The staff in the swim school office are clueless on giving information regarding swimming lessons. I signed up on the Friday and my kids would swim on the Sunday I arrived at the designated time and no one called my kids names or even announced anything for swimming lessons and I basically sat there for half an hr missed the lesson time because they are very un organised. They just put anyone behind the desk there isn’t any consistency with information and I am so so angry. A waste of my time.

Fantastic experience: I have not been to the pools in quite a while but i know the team there are exceptional. My elderly father suffers from alzheimer's, and COVID has been especially tough for him since swimming is his key physical outlet. Sometimes he forgets that the pools are temporarily closed due to the outbreak, and he has been calling the centre's front office everyday to see if it is open or if classes are back on. Never once have they been rude to him on the phone, and regularly call back to remind him it is closed amid the lock downs. It has been a trying few months, but i know my father is looking forward to seeing the wonderful staff and hit the pools again. Thanks a lot for looking after my father and treating him with dignity.

Negative experience: Swim school - absolute shambles, issue notices about being able to re-enrol and then fail to answer messages to allow you to re-enrol, never pick up the phone, then "sorry" no classes available for the next term. Very unprofessional, and amateurs. Teachers are young, rude, bored and inexperienced and had kids wanting to get out as the lessons were badly managed like the administration. My kids went backwards and from almost swimming 50m cant even do 15m freestyle now, all stroke learnt for past 5 years ruined. Worst swim school experience in Inner West .

Positive experience: This pool has improved a lot. Not as busy as the other local pools so good place to go when it's hot. Be nice if they got rid of a few lanes during the times when recreational swimming is on, more space for everyone to play and relax.

Negative experience: Semi clean, never busy. But one rude lifeguard ruined it all. Told my children that their dive was horrible and was told not to bring them the next day. What a terrible human being to work there.

Positive experience: Friendly staff, good facility, however no lockers to keep your belongings. Good size pool, nice jet pool for hydro-massage.

Negative experience: It’s an ok Olympic pool but old and run down but good for a hot day. The life guards need to work on their customer service, they are more fun police than anything else.

Negative experience: Never again lol the people working look so miserable like they need to get a life asap referring to the life guards mainly. They looked depressed, angry and just terrible had one walk up to me and tell me I'm not allowed to take a photo of my own child lol there was literally no one around but my husband and kids and apparently I'm not allowed to take a photo of my own kid and he argued and argued! well just to let u know your PATHETIC you and the rule you made up by the way I STILL TOOK THE PHOTOS OF MY KIDS SHOW ME WHAT YOUR GOING TO DO ABOUT IT

Negative experience: I'm so disappointed to give my local pool that I have been going to for years a one star rating. I will never return to this pool again. I'm compelled to leave this review because of the last few occasions I've come to enjoy a relaxing time with my kids and friends have been terrible. The customer service has been appaling. There is no consistency amongst management and lifeguards. I'm told one thing upon entry by front desk and another by the lifeguards. Treated like an idiot and spoken to so rudely. If you want to enjoy a day at the pools do not come here.

Fantastic experience: If a 50m outdoor moderately chlorinated swimming pool is important to you that’s kept at a reasonable temperature all year round, Canterbury pool is non-pretentious, never too busy and you can always get a car spot, or it’s a short walk from the station. It’s also cheaper than any other pool I swim at in Sydney and the staff are alright. Sometimes there are aerobic classes on while I’m swimming and the music and instructors keep it sounding fun and rhythmic for your swim. The pool attendants will say hi and have a chat if you want and it’s well lit after dark. This pool ticks all the boxes for me and I’d recommend it for anyone who’s just getting started or is a dedicated swimmer. Thank you for having such an excellent facility!
