HBF Stadium: Opinions

Fantastic experience: It was awesome. I liked it better than Rac.

HBF Stadium

Amazing, thanks Shannon! We love all our venues but are a little bias towards HBF Stadium :)

Deborah Beesley 1 year ago

Negative experience: Attended the double header hoops fest last night and found we could only see the game by stooping our heads down. There was a bar/handrail directly at eye level. Disgraceful - these tickets were not sold as restricted view. A tedious and uncomfortable event trying to watch two basketball games. Disappointed - no value for the money we paid

HBF Stadium

Hi Deborah, thanks for your feedback. We apologise that the handrail hindered your experience at HoopsFest. If you want to get in touch and tell us where you were sitting, we can investigate further and rectify this for future. Thanks.

Fantastic experience: Awesome concert venue. attended Lany concert. Staff were nice enough to bring out some paper cups with water during the intermission ❤️ it's the small things that matter. Thanks!

HBF Stadium

Thanks for your lovely comments Kai! We're glad you enjoyed the concert.

Fantastic experience: Despite it being a bit out of the way and the parking being awkward we really liked this venue. It was really intimate but it probably helps that Macklemore was amazing!

Scott D 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Possibly the best venue in Perth for concerts, took the family to see Macklemore - great acoustics and amazing feel

HBF Stadium

Great to hear Scott! Our team loved organising Macklemore so we're glad you enjoyed the night.

Fantastic experience: I recently visited HBF Stadium to collect my BIB and t-shirt for the HBF Fun Run 2024. I was impressed with the location of the stadium. It is spacious and well-organized. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the collection process smooth and enjoyable. Overall, HBF Stadium provides an excellent venue for events, and I look forward to attending more activities here. I highly recommend it!

HBF Stadium

Thanks for your great review Sk! We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service so we're glad you were happy with this.

Negative experience: Spoke to desk front persons couple of times regarding illegal parking in no parking / drop off zones. The staff don't even respond. Rules are there for a reason . Some people take the rules for granted and make others life misera le

HBF Stadium

Hi Manu, thanks for your feedback regarding parking. We are working to communicate better with our patrons to ensure everyone parks correctly.

Positive experience: cool place to hold school swimming carnival. cafe was really really overpriced at the pool. everything else was good though, really big space, lots of seating.

HBF Stadium

Thanks for your feedback Alice! We're glad you enjoyed the venue and the swimming carnival. Our café prices do reflect the value we provide in our quality products and excellent customer service, however we have taken your feedback on board for consideration.

Negative experience: the people that work there dk what they are doing but good concert tho there (was 10 different lines)

Darren Gardner 1 year ago

Negative experience: terrible venue for Rugby sevens. no shade for 3 day event. limited toilets and catering options and huge lines. Hundreds of people trying to find shade where they can. Pa system does not work in hospitality stands and so no music to add to sevens atmosphere.. really disappointing venue.

Fantastic experience: Nice infrastructure, heaps of parking. I visited there to watch a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competition.

Fantastic experience: Saw NF and enjoyed it heaps. The music, lights and the whole show overall was awesome. Was bit disappointed with the crowd seeing as we were the first city to start the tour. Nonetheless he sounds amazing live and hope he does more perth shows and his drummer was awesome too

HBF Stadium

Thanks for your review Judith! Our team put a lot of work into the NF event so we're thrilled that you enjoyed it and recommend HBF Stadium as a music venue.

Adam Rowan 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I watched the nf show here and it was one of if the the best concert I have ever seen. The stadium was amazing. The staff were fantastic, and the show was incredible. I have zero complaints to share about hcf arena.

HBF Stadium

Thanks for your very kind review Adam. Our staff work really hard to deliver amazing experiences to the community, so they appreciate your words. We're also glad to hear you recommend HBF Stadium as a music venue, thanks again.

Positive experience: I’ve only used swimming pools. They are excellent.

Ross B. Taylor AM 1 year ago

Positive experience: I have been a member of HBF Stadium for 20 years. The staff are lovely. They are professional and helpful. But they also work for an organisation driven by process and PC policy. Some of the rules the poor staff need to implement are straight from John Cleese and Faulty Towers or the ABC's Utopia. Absurd and silly. Only last week about 9 seniors we 'dragged' out of the indoor pool because the power generator had temporarily failed. No threat; water still safe; plenty of natural lighting, but we couldn't finish our swims. To our surprise, we were then told we couldn't use the changerooms so we could change back into our street clothes. Reason? It's protocol. 70 plus elders standing out the front clad only in one's bathers is not comfortable and could terrify local residents. This is not unusual at HBF where the staff are not permitted to exercise common sense. It's a wonderful facility managed by bureaucrats who only understand redtape and process.

Fantastic experience: Saw a comedy show here. Place is All too easy to find and park. Thought leaving would be a congested nightmare , but traffic was directed out quickly and smoothly.

Negative experience: Upon trying to collect a child from the pool the “fob” didn’t work and I was reluctant to use another child’s fob in case it was charged for an entry. There was only one woman at reception who wasn’t able to see we were having an issue… apparently. Child has still not appeared.. fingers crossed she is safe

Fantastic experience: Came here for relay for life to raise money for cancer. This venue is very suitable for events like this one as well as basic carnival days for schools.

Remse Family 2 years ago

Positive experience: The seats are made for people from the late ming dynasty. Needs an update badly in this regard. Everything else was ok

isobel cassidy 2 years ago

Negative experience: Disappointing venue if you are disabled. No across parking available and parking was a nightmare. Parking attendants did not speak English and had no clue what was going on. Thankfully there was a wonderful fellow when we eventually got on the stadium who found us seats as the seats we had we not suitable for disability. Only saving grace of the night.

Positive experience: Volunteers were a great help for parking and directions to pick up HBF shirts for Sunday. #Hbffunrun2023

H B 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not what we were after for a public pool of Perth. This is not really a leisure venue but plenty of lapping available for those with all the kit. Was a bit out of place in my boardies. Quite a trek to find the outdoor pool with not very good signage. Parking was good however with plenty of shade available. No sun lounges and only grass on a slope. Looks good for serious swimmers but those wanting summer fun best head to nearby Bold park or Claremont.

Rhiannon H 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Good mid size venue for concerts and other events. When going for big events I highly recommend reverse parking to ensure you can get out easier, especially when in overflow areas on the grass. It would be good if for events they had more flood lighting near grass parking space as it is very difficult to see at night. I have been to several concerts here over the years (alt-J twice, The Wombats, The 1975, Perth Symphony Orchestra to name a few) and always found the sound to be high quality, especially given the venue size. Most recently I have been to two concerts at RAC/Perth arena (much bigger and made for massive concerts) and found the sound there during support acts to be incredibly poor, but HBF stadium and the sound techs do a good job of making sure the quality is consistently high. To mitigate some of the parking issues, if we are in GA Standing for concerts we go to the back near the door during encore so we can rush out and get to the car quickly and usually this avoids the long queues to leave.

Fantastic experience: Nice place to do swimming and other activities.

Philip Tennant 2 years ago

Positive experience: Great venue, but location is a real minus. So far from any public transport and parking is limited and expensive. Be good if they could lay on some transport for a small fee to the nearest station. Or, take a lead from Redhill Auditorium and lay on coaches for a fee from various locations. Would attract more people. I have wanted to go to events here in the past and decided against it, due to the transport.

Negative experience: My twin sons have been in level 3 at HBF Swim School for close to a year & a half now & not making any progress to the next level. Classes seem to have no structure & no feedback provided to parents whatsoever on the children’s progress, or what your child has to do to pass to the next stage. They also seem to change the swimming instructors regularly which I feel is not helpful in grading consistency nor the children’s progression. I chose HBF Arena as the school they go to conduct their swim classes here. I note one twin progressed to level 4 in a matter of weeks yet HBF are still keeping both boys at the basic level 3 stage. They seem to be doing very basic babyish skills more suitable for a 4 year old rather than a 8 year old. Both my boys are into their 3rd year doing surf club where they can swim over 50m unaided in deep water and HBF have them swimming 5m lengths with a kickboard! I wanted to strengthen their swimming & teach them how to dive properly so am hugely disappointed with them & feel I’m mindlessly handing over lots of money for no benefit & no technique improvement. Perhaps State Swim may have more structure & progression through the levels.

Paul Scates 2 years ago

Positive experience: Nice events and sports facility to spend your day or night out. Just a shame you need a car to get there. As it is hard to get there by public transport. Just a bit too far away from the nearest train station which is Loch Street. Needs more transport close to this events facility and to run more often too.

John Mottershead 2 years ago

Negative experience: The only good thing that the stadium had going for it was the band playing. My girlfriend and I had gone to see 5 Seconds of Summer last night and upon making our way to the mosh pit after lining up all day one of the stadium workers put their arm out to stop my girlfriend from getting to the pit even when so many other people rushing to get there. He then showed no remorse and yell at her.

Tony M 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great facility. We were there for a water polo championship and Perth turned on all the options. The places air conditioned and there is a great cafe inside. They also had extra coffee and food vans outside for our particular tournament. No complaints.

Kerrie Basei 2 years ago

Negative experience: No handrails on steep staircases making them unmanageable for the elderly or those with slight disabilities or injuries. Cafes close hours before competitions end, meaning there are no refreshments on hand for athletes or spectators arriving for the evening session. Tickets are overpriced.

Karen Drummond 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Gorgeous little park to watch some games with the Fifa women's world cup! Parking is at a premium but easy access with public transport! (We walked) Plenty of amenities security and ease of access to drinks and food! Any obstructed views are at a minimum and not what we would consider obstructed anyway if you are in front row seats on any level! The usual leg room as with any stadium and always great to see the kids catered for!

Ballroom Fit 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Arena 2 at HBF Stadium was a fabulous venue for the DanceSport Special Olympics 2023 WA State Games competition. The wooden dance floor was great, good change rooms, accessible ramps for access, high ceilings, fans, free parking, and private from the rest of the sporting facilities at HBF Stadium.

Khalid M 2 years ago

Positive experience: Was recommended to try this pool for lap swimming and was a little disappointed. It’s a huge complex with multiple indoor and outdoor pools. There appeared to be lots of classes (with children running around everywhere) and it was a little difficult to find out which lanes were actually available for laps. The outdoor pools were clean and the water temp was good. I didn’t see any lifeguards outside the last time I visited, so I’m not sure what that was about. The place itself appears to be showing its age—the locker rooms were a bit run down and the pools were older, though generally well maintained. Also, for those using public transportation, the pool is right off the bus route, though it definitely was outside of the main touristy part of town. Although the pool was okay, I’d recommend going to one of the other pools in the city (like Beatty Park) to swim laps if you have the option.

Positive experience: I went there for a Liam Gallagher concert. The venue had good sound and the gig was great! However, the bar situation was SHOCKING!! only 1 bar for tens of thousands of people. Queued for almost an hour. There needs to be another bar or a better queuing system.

Fantastic experience: Came here for rehearsals with Harvest Rain. Nice great big auditorium to practice. Leaving was a bit hard, trying to condense traffic by making them all turn left rather than right when leaving. Lots of options for parking!

Positive experience: Good Pools and Customer Service but no warm water in the showers after swim ... Was rather annoying to waste time with turning the tap clockwise and anticlockwise again and again in an attempt to get some hot water on a rather cool day like today !

Dorothy Fletcher 4 years ago

Positive experience: It was mostly fine very well signposted and the staff I met were lovely friendly and helpful. I am elderly and found It extremely difficult due to age an a balance problem getting up and down the aisles where there are no handrails. If I attend this venue again I will need to be seated in the top, highest most seats or in a wheelchair. Apart from my personal mobility problems I was overall well impressed thankyou

Sam Dhu 4 years ago

Negative experience: I payed for a water aerobics class online ahead of time. Because I was 3 minutes late the reception staff would not let me in. Ive been attending water aerobics classes here for around a month and I have seen people arrive 10 minutes late every Saturday. If you are going to have a rule like this then it needs to be consistent. And there should be signs up. Absolutely ridiculous to be this inflexible.
