Fantastic experience: Shout out to Neda for being a wonderful swimming teacher to my 4yo. She's so attentive and enthusiastic with the kids and it makes a huge difference. Also love the variety of kids pools and their depth - not too deep for young ones to splash around with confidence. It never feels too busy here but always a nice community feel.

Negative experience: Getting from bad to worse. Only one lane available to swim. Management is hopeless. Staff can’t help. Suppose can’t expect too much of a council run pool.

Negative experience: pool was disgusting. Water wasn’t clear at all and made me feel gross as soon as I got in there. Facilities were very unclean as well. Given like half a lane for public swimming as all rest were taken up for swim lessons. Kids jumping in front of me the whole swim. Left half way through and never going back

Fantastic experience: Gym has all the equipment you need. Sauna is easily one of the hottest ive tried in Melbourne it’s very good! The pools are definitely not the best going around though lol

Negative experience: Really unprofessional staff, specifically management. Took months to sort out a matter, ignoring my communications and providing no apology when I eventually got a response from higher up.

Negative experience: Happy to take your money but then apparently 95% of the pool will be taken due to a swimming lesson which obviously banyule council are happy to charge people. What’s the point of having a swimming for the community when even though you paying money to use it you are still not allowed. Banyule you are shameless.

Negative experience: This place is not clean and the water is not treated well in my opinion! The sauna feels grubby and is definately not well kept. The temp is at 75 degrees C , definately not hot enough.There was a cockroach on the floor right next to the pool. I reported it and the receptionist said the place is full of them. This place should have an overhaul. Dont recommend. I stopped going!

Positive experience: It’s nice size pool and spa. It’s nice to have this near by my home. But I saw 2 cockroaches in the sauna today. I hope they clean it up so I don't have to meet them next time.

Negative experience: BULLYING AT IVANHOE AQUATIC CENTRE Recently I was using the sauna as I have done for 20 years. When one of the staff members entered and directed me not to lay on the spa bench. So than I sat stretched my legs. The staff members returned and told me I cannot stretch my legs. I requested her to live me alone. Other clients on the sauna also asked her to live me alone and to live us. This staff member than told me to leave the facility. I asked her again to leave me alone , This is the first time in my 20 years membership that such an incident has occurred A short while later I was in the spa when the staff member returned with tow policemen I refused their request to leave. I responded I would speak with the manager when I’m suitably dressed I am extremely upset since last Sunday, I regret this is not an isolated example at bulling in this facility

Positive experience: Friendly gym but not fancy... needs a few dollars spent on it but overall ok.

Fantastic experience: One of the nicest public pools I’ve been to. The facility is surrounded by gorgeous big trees. It’s small, but well designed, & the small size is an asset in some ways, because once you’re through the doors, you don’t have to walk far between the change rooms & pool. The only down side of the small size is that there is competition for lanes between swim classes, aqua aerobics & lap swimmers, & the lap swimmers tend to lose out, sometimes stuck with just one lane. Nice colour scheme in the interiors, (blue & green in the pool area, & bright orange in the change rooms, & the stalls are spacious & have plenty of hooks. Both the sauna & spa are well designed & located & a decent size. The place is kept mostly clean. And staff are friendly & often greet you when you arrive. There’s still room for improvement. Wrist bands that open lockers, & a thing to squeeze the water out of your togs like at Collingwood would be great. After visiting the new aquatic facility in Northcote, & seeing how time consuming it is getting across the place, I have a new appreciation for smaller aquatic centres like this.

Negative experience: If you want to come to a sauna that arbitrarily enforce their term and condition on costumers, come to ivanhoe aquatic centre!!, where Mark the duty manager will treat you like a criminal for forgetting a towel. Hygiene Hypocrisy?: Yes, we care about hygiene. That’s why our sauna floor is a thriving ecosystem of mold. It’s like a secret garden, but instead of roses, we have fungi.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of showers and changing areas. No food at the kiosk. Quiet before schools finish.

Negative experience: Poor opening hours. Expensive if you just want to use the gym.

Negative experience: The management of this facility makes my experience here very poor! they change time tables without proper notice to members, they do not update payment information so you turn up then have the embarrassing situation of being turned back. Now they have done it again. I no longer use this facility as the management is so awful.

Positive experience: Kids pool is great, different depths and pool toys available to use plus a basketball hoop in the pool. Swimming lanes at various speeds available in the big pool. Could do with a proper cafe but you can get ice cream and coffee plus a vending machine.

Positive experience: Great swimming and gym facilities, friendly staff. Kids friendly swimming pools. The swimming glasses are also great with good coaches.

Negative experience: Overpriced for what it is. The gym is terribly overcrowded, sometimes waiting 15 minutes for equipment. Filthy pool. They have not upgraded the filtration system for years.

Positive experience: Nice pool, however there's only a 25m pool. In addition if you go there at the wrong time the 25m pool will be unavailable due to swimming lessons

Negative experience: It would be great to add more Aqua classes, please I have stopped coming to the 8.30am classes because of overcrowding ie 30 or so people. Even the 9.30am class this morning was packed. It’s difficult to avoid kicking someone or being kicked. It’s also very annoying when people do a double class and implant themselves in their “spot” so it’s only possible to go deeper or more shallow making some exercises difficult or ineffective.

Fantastic experience: Clean place with enough lanes to swim. Usually not busy during weekdays. The water is a bit cold but not too bad.

Negative experience: Too many lessons going on, and then apparantly teachers can teach in the very small area of which is suppose to b for the kids to play, when complained i was made to feel i had no right and they thought it was funny. Bullies.

Positive experience: Friendly local pool has heated pools. Spa and sauna are included in the price of entry. They also accept concession and child prices.

Negative experience: Pretty disappointing that it didn't have a suitable pool for infants. The baby pool was way too cold to enjoy, there's no fountains or slides for kids. Ok if you have older children that just want to have a swim but disappointed we weren't advised on entering that its too cold for a young bub and we had to leave shortly after

Fantastic experience: I swim here regularly, and the staff are quite lovely. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The center is good value for money and I regularly enjoy their spa and sauna facilities that doesn't cost extra.

Positive experience: We love this centre for the swimming pool and spa. The staff are generally lovely. There aren't enough disabled facilities... I need the disabled shower/toilet due to my disabilities, but quite often people who are NOT disabled are using the facilities. Not helpful when I'm busting to use the toilet.

Positive experience: Nice 25 meters and shallow pools. The center also offers swimming classes for everyone, karate, many fitness group classes, and a gym. You can also enjoy a coffee.

Positive experience: Staff are wonderful (just don't look at your phone or read a book / magazine if you're there watching your child swim! - staff are only doing their job and I respect this 100%!!!), the lessons and instructors are great, the pools are okay.... my issue with Ivanhoe Aquatic is the change rooms. They are disgusting. ALWAYS wear something on your feet (my 5 year old got tinea here, he wore thongs in the shower but getting changed in the shared area in changerooms he had bare feet. Can only assume he got it from here. Nowhere else makes sense)... the smaller "family" changerooms have an odd smell about them. Grossest out, makes me gag. So we use the larger shared changeroom. Regardless we enjoy every visit and have adapted to the unsavoury state of the changeroom.

Positive experience: Took my granddaughter there often and had a great time. But peeved that there was alot of lessons going on so very little room to actually play in with children and they still charged the same. Did complain but nothing came out of it.

Positive experience: very enjoyable; swim, spa & sauna. it annoyed me a bit that three quarters of the pool was not available for recreational swimming; they were sectioned off for people doing lengths. i have never understood why they do that. they must have their reasons.

Negative experience: The worst swimming pool I have been to. My 8yo and 12 year old are only allowed toplay in the baby pool because I didn't go in with them. I absolutely hate this place! The lowest of customer service. Rude life guards, me and the kids getting told off every second.

Fantastic experience: My son has lessons here, his teacher, Julia, is so patient and friendly. The spa & sauna are really good. The unexpected standout: The young dude makes excellent soy cappuccinos and they're cheap too!

Positive experience: My experience as a senior citizen. Very good to do senior stretch exercises and then relax in the sauna followed by spa n a nice warm shower. You can relax n have coffee n socialize. Good way to keep my body and mind happy.

Negative experience: Although I use this pool regularly, as it is the most convenient, location wise, I agree with other reviews it is completely outdated and is dirty. I have complained about this and on one occasion a swimming attendant agreed with me and did take some photos of the bottom of the pool and the changing rooms and advised me I would hear from management. However, I have had no contact and nothing has been done. The whole complex was closed for a long time due to Covid , surely the ideal time to refurbish and CLEAN.

Positive experience: Lovely pool very friendly staff. The changing rooms can be a bit messy by that is when it is swimming lessons or holidays. The swimming lessons are also great value for the money, the teachers are caring and ensure children have fun.

Positive experience: I am a member of this gym and purely use the aqua aerobics program. It is an extensive timetable giving me the flexibility to choose between at least two classes a day. Except for Saturday which only has one class at the way-too-early timeslot of 7:15am. The staff are lovely. The pool is 25M. They cap each class to 30 participants. This makes it tricky sometimes as the classes are popular and I have missed out many times in getting a spot in a class so you have to be prepared to be there 20 minutes before a class starts to ensure you get into the class. The spa and sauna are also great but you have to abide by the rules of use. They were so strict about this post the new renovation that I went to Northcote gym for a couple of years because I felt I couldn’t relax in the precious time I had to myself. But it has become less policed now so it is more relaxed again.

Fantastic experience: Really great place. Staff are friendly, helpful, attentive, and, importantly, well trained and resourced. The facility is clean and well maintained, and the systems all seem to work as designed. We moved our kids from swimming lessons at Northcote YMCA, where none of the above was true. The kids floundered in lessons there, with little to no actual ‘teaching’ occurring. Complaints there fell on deaf ears, complaints at Ivanhoe are not required. Highly recommend.
