Harold Holt Swim Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: Great pool, had a great time with the kiddos
Negative experience: Well, something going on here.... 1. So you're paying full price for casual swimming and then you realise four!!! out of six lanes are taken by LTS. Now you have to squeeze with other seven people in two lines!!! How good is that? If you taken lines for some reason, don't charge people full price or tell them there's only 2 lines available! 2. One of the changing room doesn't have hot water for three weeks now! How good is that? Also, in one cabin there's not enough water pressure to rinse off properly! I think management has to fix all those things to get back good reputation!
Positive experience: Friendly staff, caters to all ages. Decent variety of indoor pools for kids, adults and seniors with 50m outdoor pool for serious lap swimmers. Men's locker room could use with a more frequent clean.
Fantastic experience: I like how they keep their website updated with lane availability, so if you’re smart you can time when you go to have a swim and avoid the times when children’s lessons have booked out most of the pool…
Fantastic experience: Great place for children's swimming lessons and for fun times in the pool afterwards
Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for over 40 years and it's only changed for the better. Great pools and all the staff I've met were friendly and helpful. Accessible for all levels of mobility with disabled bathrooms and change rooms on the ground floor.
Negative experience: The staff at this pool are very rude, especially towards children. One female staff member yelled "get out" at a child in a harsh tone. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I hope management addresses this issue promptly.
Hi Rebecca, could you please email us at [email protected] with more details so we can follow this up accordingly
Fantastic experience: 10/10 would drown here again.
Fantastic experience: Outdoor spa is amazing, good sauna and facilities.
Fantastic experience: Pre sunrise dip. The outdoor pool is so inviting and warm on a cold morning.
Fantastic experience: Great pools with indoor and outdoor facilities. They don't charge support workers to attend with clients unlike Monash pools
Fantastic experience: wouldn't want anyone drowning would we
Positive experience: Only 50m outdoor heated pool with an outdoor spa that I can find which is nice in winter. If you are an outdoor spa type of person then this is your place and its rarely that busy. The changerooms are large and have an added touch of private showers with soap dispensers that always seem to be full. I swim mostly during the day when i go here and can often get a lap swimming lane alone.
Fantastic experience: Loved it
Fantastic experience: Great outdoor pool very clean .
Negative experience: I drowned here with my best friend Harold back in 67. No lifeguards no safety devices. Appalling
Fantastic experience: Great facilities for lil ones on a hot day. Clean and well managed.
Fantastic experience: Love going to the Harold Holt for a swim. There's the 100 metre outdoor pool, the 50 metre indoor. The hydro pool. A kiddies pool with separate wading section. 2 spas and a sauna. Plus great amenities. Literally has everything. Plus it's kept clean and the staff are friendly. What's not to love!?
Fantastic experience: Great place for a swim, plenty of options with indoor and outdoor pools
Positive experience: Number of pools catering for all competencies and ages. Clean. Friendly staff. Cafe needs upgrading, more variety of food, etc.
Positive experience: The diving platform is inoperable. But the 5m dive pool is still open, with 1m and 3m diving boards in use.
Fantastic experience: All the staffs are very friendly and ready to help. Example: recently had some questions with booking and Anya (front end staff) was very kind to assist and helped me to get onboard. I’m sure everyone is great to help. I’m very glad to have access to this nearby where I live - one of the (the best) pools that I’ve ever visited. I love the 50m pool specially. Highly recommend.
Negative experience: Bad planing for public . Prices are going up but service is going down .
Fantastic experience: Harold Holt Swim Centre is infamous. It doesn’t disappoint
Negative experience: The centre itself is great. The pools are always clean and well maintained. However the swimming lesson teachers for the younger kids are pretty bad. Less than half of them are engaged with the students. We have tried multiple different teachers and realised that it is luck if you get one that will pay attention and help your child learn rather than just go through the motions.
Fantastic experience: Great pools
Positive experience: Very good swimming centre. Highly recommnded.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming, especially with little kids!
Fantastic experience: Was actually at Albert Park driving range!! Hitting them like Tiger!! Game on!!
Fantastic experience: Still going strong & hopefully they won't be forced to shut down due to deliberate energy emasculation... what a tragedy that would be.
Negative experience: Far too hot inside, the operators refused to open the doors. When we asked for lost property they wouldn't even tell us if what we were looking for was there. Rather they insisted we come down to look, as is their policy. Just after a bottle. Not very receptive to customers.
Positive experience: Love this pool and it facilities but would prefer if the staff kept the lap swimmers out of the multiuse areas and the lap swimmers behave as if they are entitled to kick And splash people who are quietly enjoying the pool or performing rehab tasks in the deeper water. There was plenty of room in the many lap lanes but some swimmers felt entitled to perform laps in the multiuse areas and they were quite rude about their behaviour and their entitlement.
Negative experience: Not the best, pretty dirty especially the toilets & change facilities were gross. And it was 10am on a weekday so I can’t imagine how get its later in the day.
Positive experience: Overall not a bad place, but the staff leave a lot to be desired. Young girls with headphones in the ears. Just glaring at you and giving you one word answers. Barely any smiles. The bare minimum of service. Constantly treating you like you’re trying to steal etc. Bit over that.
Negative experience: Web site is a shocker trying to suspend a membership is impossible so hard to do such a simple task who designed this rubbish
Fantastic experience: 'Very lovely public swimming facility. It opens everyday. Plenty of pool spaces for people at all ages.
Negative experience: Lovely outdoor pool but gets too busy cos the centre hires out too many lanes for squads at the expense of other customers
Fantastic experience: Beneath the argent luminary orb of the full moon, within the aquatic sanctuary known as the Harold Holt Swim Centre, I found myself ensnared in a spectral rhapsody of the ethereal. The aged walls of the establishment bore the name of the lost Prime Minister, and it was within the chlorinated depths that I became entangled in an encounter most extraordinary. As I ventured to the deep end of the pool, the waters, though aglow with eerie moonlight, bore an enigmatic chill, one that bespoke secrets long shrouded in the enigma of the sea. The surface of the pool shimmered, as though touched by the very essence of a lost soul, and the tendrils of the past danced upon the waves. Harold Holt, a man who once governed a nation, had become one with the boundless ocean, his corporeal vessel merging with the tides that know no restraint. His spirit now haunted these waters, seeking an eerie recompense for his watery fate. The former Prime Minister, his visage a distorted mirage, lingered in the depths, a phantasmal guardian of the deep end. His presence was formidable, for he ensnared young children, tempting them with inexorable allure, even those unable to navigate the shallows of the "kiddy pool." A siren's call, it was, this spectral figure's beckoning, that drew the unsuspecting youth toward the perilous abyss. Under the argent gaze of the lustrous moon, Holt's elusive form cast a sinister reflection upon the tiled floor, as though he were a lost mariner, shipwrecked in time and space. The ethereal distortion of his former self swayed in the undulating ripples of the pool, a distorted mirage of power, now bereft of its earthly dominion. The moon's pale light, like a cosmic lantern, played tricks with the shadows, making Holt's reflection appear more as a fragmented memory than a presence of substance. His ghostly visage was wavy, mirroring the turbulent undercurrents of his fate. It was as if the very essence of his demise, submerged in the ocean's eternal embrace, now sought refuge within the pool's azure depths. In this spectral aquatic realm, Harold Holt's ghost remained a mysterious enigma, an apparition tethered to the waters, his unquenchable yearning manifesting as a bewitching invitation for those who dared to plunge into the abyss. The Harold Holt Swim Centre, bathed in the moon's incandescent light, stood as a testament to a man's fateful plunge into the unknown, where even in death, he could not escape the call of the deep.
Negative experience: I have been here a couple of times, but sadly didn’t have a good experience both times. The pool facilities, namely the changing rooms, were filthy and smelly. The floor was very dirty and was covered in various powder substances from previous people using the room. Saw people put paper towels on the floor to walk on. I didn’t feel safe walking on it even with thongs on. There are a few showers that you’ll probably need to line up for, and they were right next to toilets which didn’t help with odour. Generally felt stuffy and not ventilated enough. The pools themselves were fine, just very busy. I found a much better experience in the Ashburton Pools, 10 minutes by car east of Harold Holt Swim Centre.
Fantastic experience: Went for a swim here and disappeared forever
Fantastic experience: Never been just wanted to rate it for the name
Fantastic experience: A great Australian prime minister drowned and went mysteriously missing, let's name a swim centre after him.
Positive experience: Some of the facilities are a bit tired. Coffee was good. Staff were helpful.
Positive experience: Lano and woodly season 2e1 On binge Is filmed here in about 1999. Looks how I remember it
Positive experience: Great outdoor pool but can get crowded for lap swimmers.
Positive experience: Great to use but they should update their Web page. It is never current.
Positive experience: It's Pretty ironic to have a Swim Centre Named After Australian Prime Minister Harold Halt who went missing while swimming at the beach. His body has never been recovered to this day
Positive experience: Friendly staff, clean venue, good communication, enjoyable lessons, but the venue is old and not much for kids.
Negative experience: I walk by and nearly choke on my doughnut. Like seriously, are we going to get Olympian divers trained from those dive boards?lol
Positive experience: Could be cleaner. Especially the heavy ammonia smell in the bathrooms. Pools sauna and spas are well maintained.
Negative experience: Very big swimming area with lots of swimming line in and out but very dirty All the windows and glasses seems not cleaned over a year, showers and toilets very dirty no shampoo in bathrooms,I went home feel dirty got straight to have shower with my kids at home
Fantastic experience: Great spot plenty of lanes inside big pool outside plenty of staff very clean and staff are friendly do recommend
Fantastic experience: Nice clean pool. I prefer it to Prahran. sometimes a little busy but if you can get there between 10-2 it’s nice and quiet
Positive experience: Good for the young children and adults. Would be better for teens if they actually finished their diving pool
Negative experience: A staff member made us feel unwelcome he was very arrogant and his customer service skill were zero he had a name tag on him as matt overly skinny and withdrawn with tattoos we will not go there again and make sure I make that a note of our experience on every channel of social media
Negative experience: The place is absolutely filthy. Don’t know how many times the indoor spa has been closed due to someone pooing in it. Grotesque
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim. Slightly older facilities, but great outdoor pool or indoor pool options, including indoor and outdoor spa, sauna room, kids play pools and more.
Fantastic experience: The diving boards are now open. Great swimming pool, lovely friendly people. Also pretty good coffee that's served in the little shop
Fantastic experience: Best swim centre in the near by suburbs. Has many pools to cater for all ages. Could do with more showers and toilets though for its size.
Fantastic experience: Excellent swimming facility. Friendly staff too. We love our weekly swimming lessons, then swimming more after!
Positive experience: Great place, excellent staff, polite patrons. Hydro pool is a bit cold and the place is a bit old and bathrooms have broken items, but overall it has very good facilities.
Positive experience: I like the place but the spa area needs a good scrub. There is brown coloured scunge on the tiles and the last 2 times that Ive been there I have been ill with ear infection and last time I got covid.
Fantastic experience: The staff have always been super accommodating and helpful especially when it comes to having a disability, the facilities are a bit on the older side regarding the change rooms but they're always kept clean
Fantastic experience: Love this place. Great pools and friendly staff. The aqua fit class was excellent. All the family enjoyed the various pools and facilities.
Positive experience: Outdoor pools are great and so are the people behind the desk.
Positive experience: Please place the correct times the pool will be opened. If it is a public holiday stating “times may be changed” isn’t definite enough especially for seniors who travel. Thanks, Jennifer & Kevin Opie
Negative experience: Difficult to understand the madness that has overtaken this centre. Children are made to wear a plastic wrist band indicating their age, this is so the lifeguards can police how far they are away from their parents. There are signs all over the centre shouting various rules from how many children can be accompanied by each adult etc. Incredible to think that this centre is a place where people can come to learn to get over their fear of the water, all of the nonsense listed above creates a very intimidating environment.
Negative experience: Me and my partner came to relax and have a swim while we were here, we were pestered three times by the staff over silly rules. One of them being you need a wristband after 4pm for being in the jacuzzi (we paid whatever they asked at the desk and we specifically asked if we needed a wristband) us and two other ladies were demanded to leave the jacuzzi at 3:30pm. It was an extremely quiet day so the staff must have been bored. Facilities are disgusting. Will not be back.
Negative experience: My son is attending lesson. Today He took the lesson with 5 children yet the lesson area did not designed for 5 children. They literally cannot create a straight line in the pool as the area too small. Additionally my son is at seahorse level and the lesson is a combination of different level. Be aware of that before attending.
Negative experience: This place is disgraceful! There has been a panty liner around one of the towel hooks for over 6 months! I have informed staff numerous times and still nothing has been done! Life guards stand around and chat whilst children continually swim in the middle of swimming lanes! Last week a whole family was in the disabled toilet whilst an old lady with a walking stick had to stay outside and wait! Every year the prices go up but no improvements!
Fantastic experience: I started adult swimming lessons a few months ago. My confidence around water has improved since. The facilities are amazing and the staff are super friendly. An extra shout out to Nick. He is very encouraging. Highly recommend coming here for fun and fitness.
Fantastic experience: This is possibly the best swimming pool complex that I have ever visited. Now you can get a 10 entry ticket or sign up for a membership. If you only swim once or twice a week the entry ticket is the best option. Concession card holders do get a lower price. In either case you'll be given a small barcoded tag. This has a cord attached to the end of it which you would thread through your swimming outfit. Yes it is waterproof so you can swim in the pool with it. You can get a locker to store your valuables. You test a locker door to see which one is open and hence available. After placing in your bag you can lock the door with a 4 digit code which can be a different one on any visit. If you forget your code the pool supervisors can open your door. If you forget which one was your locker then you do have a bit of a problem. There are basically three main swimming areas. There is the outdoor 50m pool which is heated to about 27 degrees and a 25 m lap pool which is heated to a very pleasant 31 degrees. You can swim laps in either of these two pools. There are also some children's pools including therapy pools.
Fantastic experience: 50m pool is great for laps. Plenty of lanes open and is a good temperature. ♂️
Positive experience: We have a membership here so that we could come and enjoy the swimming pool daily. With extra $5.80 you could have the SPA and Sauna which is really chilled.
Fantastic experience: 很好的游泳中心
Fantastic experience: non è una struttura recente ma molto funzionale e ben organizzata
Positive experience: maybe if i drown a pool will be named after me
Fantastic experience: Extremely welcoming staff and great facilities.
Negative experience: Lockers don't work .small pool broken pump, outdoor spa is a worksite ,its not good
Positive experience: Fine pool complex. Looking forward to the improvement works being completed. Will likely elevate it to a 5 star venue.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff, pool great, gym fantastic, clean, gym staff great to get advice from, will do your plan etc As a Senior it is terrific value, not super busy in the day plenty of room in the pool or gym
Positive experience: Under revervationns so no diving or outdoor spa and covid restrictions but the indoor spa and sauna as well as all pools operating as usual. Usually has grassy lawns to lay on or have a picnic but these are also fenced off at the moment (23/2/22)
Fantastic experience: Lovely facility and wonderful staff. They do have their set of troubles like the hydrotherapy pool is sometimes not at temperature or isn’t operating or the spa is sometimes closed for testing but I guess these things can’t be helped.
Negative experience: BAD day at the HH swim centre Saturday 20/8/2022 Senior staff at your pool ignored complaints about a woman on her phone in the female change rooms who let her daughter "play" under the shower for over half an hour...so much for the 2 minute rule! And your online pool availability web site is a joke! Six 6 lanes "available" in reality means two (2) only. Lappers battle for space whilst chinese swim students and squads get preferential treatment...$$$$$$$$?
Fantastic experience: Love the outdoor 50m pool. Lots of space to lounge and cool off. My sons swim with Academy Swimming Club. The Academy of Swimming places technique at the heart of their recreational and competitive pathways. People swim for many different reasons. Some swim for fun or fitness. Others want to push and become the best they can through competition and well-structured pathways. Highly recommend Rod, Judy and their coaches.
Negative experience: This is a nice pool, but one of the supervisors was extremely rude to us. We were there with two small kids and, while they sold us tickets, the children's area was closed when we visited. We kept asking if we can take the kids to other areas and no one seemed to know and referred to this supervisor. When we met her she was unbelievably rude to us, cutting our questions with an attitude, and not letting us talk. (And it was not like she was rude with everyone.) Whenever we saw her afterwards, she shook her head as if asking "what are they still doing here?" Very bad experience overall.
Fantastic experience: Marvellous swimming spot and great staff. Always come during the day and it isn’t super busy. Large sauna and outdoor spa.
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim and or hang out. Staff are friendly and helpful too.
Fantastic experience: Great pool, just watch out for the Chinese submarines.
Fantastic experience: Handy no parking fee
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim
Fantastic experience: Been swimming here since 1970. Love it.
Fantastic experience: A nice place for everyone to go swim, relax in spa and sauna. This place has gym and fitness classes as well. Different pools and lifeguards taking care of the premises. Lockers available for keeping your things This place allows casual one day visits for 13.50$ for swim, spa and sauna. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Really enjoying the facility, with a good number of services available, the full size pool is tops and plenty of space to sun bake . I love the spas and sauna. The change rooms are huge and always kept clean. There is a remedial pool for rehabilitation and several children's pools that have excellent teaching and training services available. A good size gym upstairs. Also all these pools are heated to different levels. Probably the best part is the staff, they do a fabulous job and are extremely helpful and friendly. The fees are pretty good as well.
Fantastic experience: Ive looked through all of these comments and i could barley find a joke about how this pool is named after a prime minister who is notorious for drowning
Fantastic experience: Great local outdoor 50mtr pool
Fantastic experience: Relaxed swimming pool where you can hear what is going on. Great facilities. Indoor and outdoor pool options. Outdoor water play area for the children isn't operational at the moment, but the diving pool (for those who are confident swimmers) is now back in service. Love this pool!
Fantastic experience: I almost died swimming in Fluidmovements squad
Fantastic experience: Great out door pool. Excellent masters swim squad. Very busy early eases up after 8am
Fantastic experience: Great place to relax, to swim and have a time in the sauna. Nice staff is always there to help you out.
