Fantastic experience: Wow. This place is buzzing on a weekday morning. I got there around 6:30 and the weight room was packed. There’s enough room for you to rotate onto different equipment, but if a little bit more packed than I’m accustomed to. Mixed demographic of all ages. Friendly front desk. Lovely that there’s an indoor pool. I’m glad to have taken advantage of the one day trial. Plenty of three hour parking right outside.

Negative experience: This pool needs better management. Ongoing issue of getting here for a swim to find lanes all taken up with lessons or classes. No information on their schedule to advise of pool availability. Such a frustrating experience for myself and others in the community. Not good enough Yarra Leisure

Positive experience: Friendly and welcoming leisure centre that offers all excercise needs. Swimming at an indoor swimming pool which means you can swim all year round. The gymnasium has a good range of weights machines and cardio machines. The centre has a large group excercise room where classes include Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Body pump and more. The staff are great - friendly, supportive and encouraging. They make time for members of all abilities. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Best place to come we have to support our community be like family members those who complain they have some problems not the place and the staffs who are working there !!

Negative experience: management: please don't skimp this time and pay somebody for the necessary tiling work. being unable to turn down the shower temperature (mightily overhot) and having to open the door of the shower cubicle every time you want to nab a little soap (at least in the mens' bathroom) makes this by far the shoddiest of the three Yarra pools. the pool is otherwise alright, although chilled water fountains would also be fresh

Negative experience: As our closest pool, my family have given this place so many chances over the last couple of years - both lessons and casual swimming. We've concluded that this is not a good place to bring kids to swim. The atmosphere is so weird and negative. A couple of the many lowlights include one of the lifeguards touching my kid for no apparent reason, and my wife getting told off for using her phone while our kid was IN A LESSON! Casual swimming with kids is also a waste of time, as lessons are given total priority and only a small, sometimes packed area is left for others. The changing areas aren't great either. Trust me, go somewhere else - don't let this sad place be your kid's experience with swimming.

Negative experience: Dear James, I informed the girl who signed me up that I would leave in less than three months. Otherwise, I would never have signed up. They are not keeping their word, they are not respecting the contract. I am still within the trial period of between 14 days and two months, so they should stop the payment and not charge me that money. That is what is stated in their contract requirements. I kindly ask that you fulfill your commitment as an institution can someone call me please? I’m about to have a breakdown because I don’t have the money to keep paying for this, so I’m leaving the country.

Negative experience: Had a shocking experience today. The staff, particularly an older lady, was incredibly rude. She kept us waiting for 30 minutes while she took a shower. Even worse, when she finally came out, she left the change room dirty. Such poor customer service!

Negative experience: If you want to lap swim do not come to this pool! Was told lanes would be available when I paid for entry, all lanes except one were booked for swimming lessons. When I tried to swim in the lane that had a 'slow lane' sign was kicked out by one of the swim teachers because they wanted to use that lane. Even though all the other lanes were set aside for lessons. Terrible way to run a pool!

Negative experience: Instructors 5 star Managment 1 star - don’t listen Cleanliness 0 - none Equipment is never cleaned. I repeatedly let managment know in the past but no results. I shouldn’t even have to tell them everything is dirty, it’s not my role and it clearly visible. This gym has a great potential, great location, great facilities, great instructors, outdoor space, etc. But there seems to be a lack of care or incentives misaligned. Sad…

Negative experience: Dirty, a great place to get sick.

Negative experience: I have never been auto billed by any company and been denied ending my membership repeatedly so they can keep billing me. I had asked to terminate my membership before Xmas. It's now late Feb and they are still billing me and no matter how many times I email them, "James" has played a cruel game, tells me it needs to be in writing as a response to my email request. It is a nightmare. I don't recommend this facility based on the impersonal way it's administrated . Even after the absolute stress and not allowing me to end my long-term member ship and over billing me there's no paying me back from when I originally requested to end but on top of that keep billing me.

Negative experience: I went for a swim.... nearly swam head first into a floater, I nearly sunk like the titanic, I've been scared to go swimming ever since, just in case I see another log-a-dile, never knew dropping the kids at the pool was so literal.

Fantastic experience: The water smells very clean

Negative experience: Unfortunately we had a bad experience here, usually the swimming teachers are really good. However, one of the new swimming teachers we got was very uninterested and showed no care towards the child, given her body language and the way she spoke to the child. We loved this swimming pool because of the previous swimming teacher however, now it’s been a let down due to this one teacher. The other teachers have all been wonderful. Safe to say we won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Negative experience: This used to be a great place to swim & do water aerobics - that is until they dropped the temperature of the water (mid winter) The pool is now freezing & it doesn't matter how hard you swim or how many jumps or kicks in water aerobics you do the chill just gets in your bones. Turn the heat up!!!

Negative experience: Don't come here with children if you want to swim casually on a Sunday morning. The main non lap pool is completely full of swimming lessons and there is no where for the kids to play whilst being able to stand up besides the steps into the pool. The toddler splash pool is freezing so count that out too. Overall very underwhelming experience.

Negative experience: I tried suspending my membership in March 2000 at the start of the pandemic and it was chalked up as "COVID scare". The one lane that is open for laps usually has an obstacle of some sort that staff do nothing to attend to. People using lap lanes for the wrong purposes or blocking the lanes or crossing the lanes is never dealt with. The high energy classes sometimes blast music so loud that anyone using the swimming pool for other uses will be uncomfortable. I have overheard numerous lap swimmers stating that they find the pool near unusable due to the lack of lanes and other factors and I have stated my issues numerous times, including via e-mail. Many don't come back, thus compounding the marginalisation of this group of users. When the lockers malfunctioned the fact that I was not certain which one mine was because it was stressful was met with disbelief by the manager, rather than apologies. Not a great environment for someone with anxiety or neurodivergences and yet exercise like swimming is something we should all have easy access to in our neighbourhoods. All I want is to swim some uniterrupted laps. Oh and I did respond via e-mail as prompted below, no action. I highly recommend NARC in Northcote as an alternative.

Negative experience: Tonight I took my client who I provide disability care for to the swimming pool. The whole swimming pool was suddenly closed since a child had pooed. My client who has a severe intellectual disability and autism was unable to understand that the pool was closed. Knowing my client very well, I was slowly leading her out of the pool, as rushing these processes can cause her to panic. It was evident to the lifeguards that this is what I was doing and they were on board in assisting me. However, the older manager of the facility interrupted me and questioned whether I understood the health and safety hazard of my client swimming at this time. Whilst I explained my client's disability and that I am doing my best, he showed very little understanding. It was very ironic to me that he would question me on my understanding of health and safety at that time, when it is evident that he had absolutely no understanding of how a disability can impact the way people behave and react in situations like this. As the manager of a facility that claims to be suitable for people of 'all abilities, ages and backgrounds', I believe it is important he educates himself on disabilities... or maybe just shows a little common sense to read and handle situations better. Nevertheless, thank you to the wonderful lifeguards who were kind and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I always look forward to Saturday night for the women making waves program. Only ladies for 2 hours, gym, spa, sauna and aquaerobics. Great gym instructor and friendly staff.

Negative experience: DO NOT trust any reviews about this place! Worst pools I’ve ever been to. They’ve only got 2 small indoor pools and today - most days kids pool is closed for no reason. No lanes free to swim. There’s only 1 lane available for free swim. Pathetic and a waste of time and money. Also they don’t even have a canteen and only sell ice blocks. ?! This place needs a massive upgrade or should just shut down. NO outdoor pools yet there’s so much space for one or 3 zzzzz never again.

Fantastic experience: Skilled professional advice has almost eliminated my knee pain, improved my balance and really increased my energy. This centre is also a very clean and attractive space to be in.

Negative experience: How can you call Collingwood be called a public pool when there are no swimming lanes available Mon - Fri 4-6pm. Of course this is not advertised anywhere plus they don’t let you know until they take your money.

Negative experience: Be careful if you pay for a full term of swimming lessons and you are unhappy with the facilities, you will not be issued a refund. My 16 month old son and I had swimming lessons at Richmond. There was only one accessible changeroom when we were attending, the other changeroom is down a set of stairs, not easy to drag a pram up and down. After his swimming lesson we had to wait for at least 15 minutes to be able to get access to the accessible changeroom only to have an an able body person walk out. The staff didn't seem to want to do anything about this. I changed classes to Collingwood instead. Two of the last three swimming lessons there has been a lack of hot water at Collingwood. The first time there was no hot water, we were given fair warning and told that the water is warming up and it just needed a bit of time. Cool...we were warned and by the time the lesson was finished the shower was at least warmer than the pool. Yesterday, completely different story. There was no warning, the pool water was cooler than normal, in factost of the kids were shivering during the lesson when it came the to sit on the wall or mat. Jumped out at the end of the lesson to warm up and the pool side showers were freezing. Run to one of the change rooms so I can warm my son up and there is no hot water. Spoke to someone who exited the other change room and there was no hot water there either. I called the council this afternoon asking if I can cancel the rest of the term and get a refund. They advised that as part of the terms and conditions I signed that they can't do that. They also said that there was plenty of hot water there today...not sure how that is helpful. I guess that providing functional facilities is not part of the terms and conditions, and I could turn up to swim in a drained pool and not have a leg to stand on. My advice would be pay as you go because if the council don't uphold their end of the bargain then it's easier for you to get out.

Negative experience: Bike security is very poor, BEWARE I have had unlocked front wheels and lights stolen from front of centre.

Negative experience: The noise levels - loud music and shouted, amplified instruction - caused by the aquafitness class is ear splitting, and completely unfair to everyone else who uses the place - especially babies and children.

Positive experience: Normally go to Richmond pool and gym but visited here with a friend recently. The pool was good, the gym is fairly small and basic.

Positive experience: This leisure center still sells sugary drinks and ice-creams which is disappointing for parents who are trying to encourage children to have an active lifestyle. I recommend that City of Yarra do what YMCA has done, and no longer stock junk food. Also the pool area needs a bigger clock, so parents can keep an eye on the time

Positive experience: This pool is a 25m indoor pool. It's great for swimming and has 2 aqua play lanes. If you want to swim don't go when the aqua aerobics classes are on. The place has been renovated recently so is quite good.

Negative experience: We were very strongly encouraged to pay for our child's swimming lessons via direct debit. Term ended and so did the lessons. Unbeknown to us, the direct debit has continued. Collingwood Leisure Centre refuse to refund payments taken citing a "change in terms and conditions" which we were not informed of. We are of the opinion that the practices of this business are misleading and deceptive.

Positive experience: Great pool, and excellent for serious swimmers who don't want a 50 metre pool - BUT swimmers are getting crowded out by aqua aerobics and other lessons. Seems unfair for the money we pay. I agree with other reviewers that later opening hours would be good.
